2 spreads with same page numbers

Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with indesign: I have 2 spreads in the document with the same page numbers (even in the pages panel).
I created one new spread and placed it before the other.
This is a problem since the page numbering inherit this.
I tried to solve it myself, then I googled the problem, but i found nothing.
Anyone knows how to solve it?
Thanks!

The small black triangle above the second page 4 is a new section marker. In the pages panel highlight the second page 4 then select numbering and section options and change the start page to 6.
Oops I sent this before I saw your second post.

  • Printing bug with logical page numbers

    I have a PDF file set up with logical page numbering. If I want to print page 7-10 and type this in the Pages field, Reader prints physical pages 7 through 10 from the PDF file instead of logical page 7-10. I tried it in Reader X and XI and the problem occurs in both. I am pretty sure it worked in early versions, but I don't know what version it stopped working on. Is this a known issue?

    Could it be that this file contains duplicate page labels? Can you share the file?

  • Open parameters with roman page numbers

    Trying to use #page=nn to go to a specific page in a PDF file.  My code is an html http link and the PDF file is on a server elsewhere.  #page=nn works fine with arabic page numbers, but not with roman numerals used in the PDF file preface, foreword, etc.  The PDF file shows "i", "ii", etc. in the Adobe Reader page box.  There is "(1 of 8)" shown to the right of that box.  I can use a keyboard shortcut (shift-ctrl-n) to search for ii and it correctly goes to the second page.  Uppercase (II) does not work, however.  I tried #page="ii" in an attempt to preserve the lowercase parameter but no luck.
    Any ideas?  Thank you.

    This forum is not meant as an access hub to ask people write you free custom scripts.
    .. But -- fortunately for you, this particular question was interesting enough to spend 5 minutes on. It turned out to be as easy as I initially thought:
    app.findGrepPreferences = null;
    app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat="\\d+[-~=]\\d+";
    r = app.activeDocument.findGrep(true);
    while (r.length)
        t = r.pop();
        s = t.contents.split(/\D/);
        s[1] = s[0].substr(0,s[0].length-s[1].length)+s[1];
        s[0] |= 0; s[1] |= 0;
        u = s[0];
        while (s[0]++<s[1])
            u+=', '+s[0];
        t.contents = u;

  • Getting chapter numbers to show up in the TOC with the page numbers...

    First, thank you all very much for posting replies.  This forum is wonderful.
    I have a doc that needs to have the chapter numbers show up with the page numbers in the TOC.
    I insert the <$chapnum> and <$currentpagenum> in the footer, and I get 1-1 to show up.
    To include the 1-1 in the TOC, do I have to edit the Reference Page, or is there another way.
    Thank you SO much for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you VERY much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Got it to work.  However, my TOC will not update with the new building blocks.
    Have played and played with it.  Any suggestions?
    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ID CS5 - problem with 2 page numbers in the same page

    Until InDesign CS3 I could put 2 page numbers in one page, either in document pages or in master pages, using 2 linked text frames, one in each of the pages I wanted to see the numbers. And this worked fine!
    In CS4, this stopped working in master pages. I had to override the text frames from master pages (ctrl/cmd + shift click on the text frames) to get this working, and I had to this in ALL document pages.
    I was hoping this problem was solved in CS5 but... the problem got worst!!! Now, not only I have to override the text frames, but I have to erase the markers and put them there again. Which means I have to put page markers individually in ALL pages.
    I wonder if there is a new way to do this? Does any one have the answer?...
    If not... I really really hope someone from Adobe reads this forum and try to solve the problem, because this is a great inconvenience...
    Thanks for any help

    Hi, Jongware,
    It is a bug since CS4, agravated in CS5, because until CS3 it worked very well.
    In fact, it worked through out a lot of pages. I think this was not created only to pages side-by-side but in fact to those articles that continued several pages ahead. So, in a magazine, when one has to break an article and continue this article in other page, one could (and still can) put a text frame in the of the first part of the article and type "Continue on [next page marker]". Then link this text frame with a new text frame on the page where the article continues, (on top of 2nd part of the article) and type "Continued from [previous page marker]".
    This situation – where text frames are in the document pages – still works fine.
    The problem is when this is a constant and you want to put it in master pages, and now it simply does't work. I mean, when every odd or even pages have both numbers. For me, it's a major problem, because several of my clients just love this!
    Is anyone of Adobe reading this? Are you going to help us and fix this problem, please?...

  • How do I print a spread with multiple page sizes?

    Hello fellow designers!!!!
    I'm trying to make a production dummy by printing double sided. My document has an extra fold on the outer edge (see attached image).
    I want to print 'D11-D12' as one spread with the reverse side as 'D13-12', so that I can simply fold in the outer edge and spiral bind the spine.
    When I input the range 'D11-D12, D13-12' the printer prints 'D11' on one side and 'D12' on the reverse same with 'D13' and '12'.
    How do I get this spread happening the way I want? I'd appreciate any help I can get as time is mot my friend on this one!
    Thanks,
    Gordon

    Sandee, I think you're onto something here. I've managed to separate the spreads from the spine as you suggested, however, I'm still getting the same result. The preview in the print dialogue is exactly what I want, yet the printout itself still print 'D11' on the back of 'D12'. I'm under a mountain of failed printouts! In the end I gave up and just taped the extra fold to the dummy manually.
    I'd love to figure this out though for future use, so any more input would be divine!
    Thank you so much for helping out!

  • Can Acrobat create a PDF using the same page numbers as FrameMaker?

    I'm using FrameMaker 10 on Windows 7 and Acrobat Pro 9. I know I can set the page numbers after I create the PDF (Advanced > Document Processing > Page Numbering), but is there any way to tell Acrobat (or Distiller) to do this automatically based on the page format set up in FrameMaker? Right now, the cover and inside cover have no page numbers, but I could assign them numbers and hide them. The TOC is lower case Roman numerals, and the rest of the book uses Arabic page numbering. Someone has asked whether we can have the page numbers be reflected in the page field so that when you enter page 10, it takes you to page 10 of the book (where 10 appears in the corner of the page), not the tenth page of the PDF, which might land you in the TOC.
    We produce PDFs as part of an automated system, which is why I can't mess with it after it's been produced.

    There is a FrameMaker plug-in that can do this:
    http://www.frameexpert.com/plugins/pagelabeler/index.htm
    Or, you might consider using PDFMark to add page labels.

  • Trunking between separate buildings with same vlan numbering scheme

    Hello
    I have (2) warehouses physically next to each other.
    Each warehouse has it's own WAN link
    My Vlan design is the same across all my sites where each site has (Vlan 10 - 15) using a site specific subnet ip scheme.
    I am now going to run a fiber link between my (2) warehouses and can create a trunk between the sites.
    I am pretty sure of the answer but I think I am going to have to re-vlan one of the warehouses so I can add each sites vlans to the trunk.
    That seems like a mid-major overhaul to one of the sites
    Does anyone have any experience with this type of design and provide some guidance on steps to follow?

    Many thanks, Jon. You are correct, I had not mentioned my intent to move servers around, originally.
    What is not working, is that I cannot ping Houston from Atlanta and viceversa. For example, If I am logged into the ATL switch, I try to ping the HOU switch, but get no reply. In this example, Let's say that ATL switch is 10.11.1.2.. If I try to ping 10.11.2.2 (HOU) nothing. 10.11.1.x traffic should be tagged as vlan 10 in ATL, and 10.11.2.x should be NOW tagged as vlan 112 in HOU.

  • Problem with total page numbers in Scripts

    Hi,
    I have a problem with total number of pages in the Script.
    I have a script of 15 pages.
    On every page, I am using &PAGE& of &SAPSCRIPT-FORMPAGES(C)&.
    Problem is : I am getting only single digit for SAPSCRIPT-FORMPAGES as long as the page number remains in single digit - like -
    1 of 1
    2 of 1
    3 of 1... till 9 of 1.
    But from 10th page, it is printing :
    10 of 15
    11 of 15
    12 of 15... till 15 of 15.
    So, i think the symbol SAPSCRIPT-FORMPAGES(C) is filled with value 15 , but it is prinitng only the first digit '1' for pages 1 to 9 and then printing both the digits '15' for pages from 10 onwards.
    So, please help me out in this problem.
    Thank you.

    Hi Ven,
    The CONDENSE option cannot be used on the program icon SAPSCRIPT-FORMPAGES
    (C) without an explicit length specification: This symbol is
    only replaced with a value after the form has been completely edited, as the
    total number of pages of a form is first known in the program function
    END_FORM or CLOSE_FORM. However, the size of the symbol (number of
    characters) is reserved correctly when the symbol first occurs, with the
    current page number. Therefore, only one character is reserved for option C
    (CONDENSE) on pages 1-9, two characters on pages 10-99, and so on.
    If you are sure that the total number of pages doesn't cross 99(i.e 2-digit number), then use the FORM pages as SAPSCRIPT-FORMPAGES(2CZ).
    Here Z will suppress the leading zeros, for the total number of pages.
    Hope this information would be useful for you.
    Reward points if this is useful.
    Pavan.

  • InDesign CS4 page numbering not displaying correctly in Pages Panel

    Hello,
    I searched the forums for a solution to my problem before posting. I am sorry if I'm doubling someone's question but here I go:
    I noticed this problem I have about 6 month ago. When I create a simple document with automatic page numbering everything is fine. When I try and create a section (i.e. I want my numbering to start at 1 at page 3) it actually works however in the Pages Panel the pages are displayed with their basic numbers. You will agree this is rather confusing. I've tryed different files, same files on different computers and so on. The problem has to do with my installation of InDesign CS4 and I suppose it's some kind of a display option I accidentally turned on.
    Could someone please suggest a solution? Thank you!

    I see the option to check "print footer and header" in the print dialog box. Anyone know how to just be able to print the page numbers in TextEdit (without the Headers on each page)?
    Thanks in advance for any help with this!

    TextEdit is a relatively simple program, with limited options. As such, I doubt the "print headers and footers" options are easily customizable. Other word processors have the ability to manage headers and footers separately. If you've got Pages, or Word, or the free alternatives such as OpenOffice/NeoOffice then you can set up your documents to print just header or footer info with only page numbers.

  • Page numbers in pdf's

    I am scanning textbooks into pdf's to make them available online to our students (with the company's permission).
    There are 35 pages of introduction that Adobe Acrobat starts numbering as 1,2,etc. Is there a way to keep the introduction pages
    in the front of the textbook but have the page numbers in the toolbar coincide with the page numbers in the textbook?
    Thank you.

    This forum deals with Adobe Digital Editions, not Acrobat, so I don't think
    you'll get a good answer.  Maybe - who knows?

  • Continue page numbering from Main Section to Trailer Section

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a report which has multiple report blocks in the Main section. The page orientation is portrait for Main section. Now, I want to add a report block which should have a landscape orientation. So, I created this in the Trailer section. All that works out well.
    My next task is to add a Table of Contents as the first page of the output (pdf). This is clearly documented in the Building Reports 10g manual and works just fine for the Main section. i.e. the TOC comes out with correct page numbers. But, for the Trailer section, the page number retrieved by SRW.GET_PAGE_NUM shows a page number of 1 , since it's the first page in the Trailer.
    What I want is that the Trailer's page number should continue where the Main section left off. In fact, If I put a field in the margin for the trailer and source it from "Page Number" in the property pallet, I can see that it has the correct page number, i.e. it's main sections page number + 1. But, SRW.GET_PAGE_NUM seems to retrieve 1.
    Note that at the Report Module level, I have set the Format Order of Sections property to Main-Trailer-Header.
    Any inputs are much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Manish

    That worked perfectly after I discovered I also needed to uncheck "use previous footnote". I also checked "First page is different" since it is a Section Title Page and did not need a page number. Now, all that is needed is the availability of different types/styles of numbering (Roman numeral for introductory pages as an example).
    What is happening is that I am self publishing a genealogical book on my family tree that also carries quite a lot of other family information and each of the "Sections" was built in Pages since I did not know how to correctly do sectioning to use a single Page document. There are eight SECTIONS, not pages, with a total 278 duplex (2 sided) pages.
    Thanks Yvan for helping clarify the sectioning.

  • Survey for people using page numbering

    We're doing a study on page numbering in InDesign. If you've recently dealt with a page numbering issue in InDesign, please take a few moments to fill out a brief survey.
    I'll be contacting some of the review participants for a follow-up usability test.
    Thanks.

    Just wanted to chime in on the no-problems-here bandwagon.
    I *think* that most of the people who complain about limited options have no experience in creating books, nor, it seems, in reading books -- f'r instance, they never noticed odd pages go on the right and even ones on the left. They never noticed books hardly ever start at page 2. They don't understand roman numbered front matter should also has an even number of pages. They don't think it's weird to have only right hand pages numbered.
    Within those limitations, I can make ID document and book numbering jump through hoops. As long as they're circular hoops, that is. (And who'd ever heard of rectangular hoops? Or triangular?)
    (PS. I get asked rather frequently if I can remove that annoying blank last page, right after the one that says '127'. It really is hard to explain -- not to mention three blanks after a last page 125.)

  • Batch page numbering question

    Hi can anybody help with this.
    I am looking for a way to batch page number documents. I need to add in a lot of A pages and doing it by hand is unfeasable. Does anybody know a plugin or a way of achieving this?
    I'm looking for a solution where, for example I can tell acrobat that page 200 should be 199A. I know I can do this with the page numbering feature, but I need to do it on a large scale, so need to batch it.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks
    I have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.

    oh thats right i dindt think of that,because i usualy do my graphics in illustrator,never occured ot me to make an oval on the master pages and then add the page numbers,but just for the sake of making things hard,what
    happens if you made a design in illustrator that cant be made in indesign and want to make it into page numbers??!?
