2 touches one one computer
Hi, I have a 32g touch which my kids have hijacked. It has a combination of my stuff and theirs (mainly movies). I am therefore getting another 32g for them. There seems to be a few ways of having two touches with different content.
Have two playlists (this does seem to me to mean I can't add apps to playlists)
Manually sync each touch form one central library
Have two separate accounts and itunes libraries on the same computer.
Put simply I want to find the easiest way of have two touches with different content on each (movies, music, photos and apps)
At the moment I automatically sync and back up when the touch is connected, and have a separate back up on my netbook which is on home sharing
Oh, one more question will each itouch back up when connected if I manually sync.
Many thanks Sarah
Welcome to the discussions,
the easiest way would be to create a separate login for windows for your kids to keep the accounts separate.
Each device will create a separate backup as well when ever you sync or back up manually.
You can also set up different apps for each device, no matter if you're using them in different windows accounts or not.
You can also share music between different accounts: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203

I have a new iPod Touch and one apple ID. I want to use My laptop aswell as my desktop computer for the one ipod, using the same apple ID. I have music on both computers and want to merge the two without losing any music or apps. How do I do this?
My iPod has music and apps from my apple ID that I downloaded to my iPod via iCloud and some apps that I got free from the store, straight onto my iPod, but my laptop has some music on it aswell, separate from my other library. I want to put the music from my laptop into my iTunes library which I want to use on both computers. Is it possible to do this?
Thanks.- You can only sync an iPod to one iTunes library/computer. You can however, manually manage music and videos among different libraries.
Go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
- If y wnat to switch syncing libraries/computer see:
go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

I have an iPod and have an account set up already with iTunes. My friend has brand new iPod touch but no computer. She only wants to download CDs onto iPod but I couldn't seem to do this without being prompted to set up an account or it overriding the information for my iPod - any help would be appreciated.

When I connect my iPod touch to my computer, I have a list of Events on my iTunes-iPod-Photos. I want to erase these Events. However, the photos are NOT on my MacBook Air-iPhoto. When I check one of the Events and then hit Apply, the photos appear on my iPod. And one last thing: When I connect the iPod and open iPhoto, iPhoto tries to load New Photos (I think), but nothing happens. Any ideas?
Resolved.

I have 2 older iPod touches and 1 computer. It will reconize one but not the other. How do I sync music on both?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

I have my entire music library (purchased and burnt CD's) on my iPod Touch from one computer and I wanted to sync it all to my new computer. I was hoping it would all transfer via sync when I plugged it in but it doesn't seem to work. Please help?!
Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
I can't download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again. -
I have 2 ipod touches. One of the syncs with itunes just fine. The other isnt recognized by itunes. I reset the ipod to factory settings, and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, still no recognition.
- Do you have the latest version of iTunes on the computer? iOS 6 requires 10.5 or later. The current is 10.6.3
- Have you tried a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- You could try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and restore the iPod. However, if you can't restore the iPod or use this program to get the iPod out of recovery mode
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
you will lose use of the iPod.
- An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store might be in order. -
We have 2 Ipod classics and 1 Ipod touch. One of the classics is not recognised by the itunes library and therfore canoot be synchonised with a playlist.
The second shuffle cannot be recognized by this computer ("USB Device Cannot be Recognized") so I don't think I'm able to reset it using that (it says "iPod is not recognized by iTunes, but is *visible in My Computer or in Device Manager* on a Windows PC, or in Apple System Profiler on a Mac.")
Like I said though, it works on other computers just fine and is visible so I don't quite understand what's up with this computer.

Adobe Cloud is installed on my desktop and one laptop computer. Upon noticing updates were available yesterday, I successfully installed them on my laptop. Today, I cannot get Abobe Cloud to open on my desktop.
We don't know what Apple plans on doing to change this (and it may not be just Apple but more likely the publishers, since Apple would, of course, do whatever it could to maximize sales/profits). Right now you can only read Apple books on mobile devices. Sure, buy them from Amazon if you want to read them on the computer. We don't work for Apple so we're pretty impartial on this kind of advice.
You might also see what your library can offer. My wife can browse the county library from her iPhone, borrow e-versions, and read books on it too. Free! -
I have 3 iTunes libraries on my one one computer and since I updated to the new version I can no longer see who's library I am in. It used to show at the top of iTunes the name of the library I was in. Is there a way I can tell which library I am in without closing and reopening?
No. Frequently the apps take up more storage space on the iPod that the file download size.

How do I consolidate an Itunes music library on two windows computers onto one windows computer?
Click here, pick the option which best fits your situation, open the larger library in iTunes, move the media files from the smaller one into the library in the open iTunes program window or the Automatically Add to iTunes folder, and then import the playlists. Any rented movies will only play on the computer they were originally downloaded to.

There are three iphone users in my household but only one main computer. I am the primary users and have all my business contacts on my iphone and computerr. The other two in the household also have iphones with their own contact lists. is there a way to set them up so that we can share some music but not contacts. Aosl need to be able to back up their data which I presume would be through icloud and a separate iapple itues id. how do I go about setting this up?
There is only one solution. Each user must have their own separate user account. All of their respective data would be contained in their separate user accounts. This also means each will have a separate iTunes Library. If you all use the same third-party apps, then each will have to purchase their own copies under their own Apple IDs. Some data sharing is possible. See:

Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Each of us is using an own individual iPhone, which we frequently update with our iTunes Accounts. We have had this setup for years. It was convenient, reliable and user friendly, since we both could download what we wanted, create playlists, etc. without impact on the other. Exactly this convenience has made me and my wife real Apple fans, so that we also wanted to convince our daughter to move from Android and PC to our easier Apple setup.
Since a few weeks, this setup does not work anymore. From Apple Support (online chat on Apple.at) I was not told that this is not supported any more. Every computer is only allowed to be connected to one iTunes account. From one perspective (sharing music across other users as an act or media piracy, etc.) I can somehow understand this. However, since we are using different user accounts on this computer, I do not have access to other user´s iTunes media and could not play, download or copy it. So what is the point in this?
This now means, that my wife and I are only allowed to download individually purchased music with our personal iTunes accounts only with an interval of 90 days, so every on of us 2 times a year!
Was I incorrectly informed by the Apple support? If so, how can I solve the problem? Or is this really a new policy by Apple? If so, what is the reason? Am I expected to purchase a Mac for my wife, my daughter, myslef and for the three smaller kids to follow soon?Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes. -
I have one home computer and our household has 2 iphones. I am signed up on itunes and now my husband would like to have an account with itunes as well. Can there be two accounts for 2 users for itunes on one home computer? How do I add another account ?
