2 USB Portable Monitor - Macbook Air

I have a Macbook Air Mid 2012 model with a Yosemite OS.
Im planning to purchase an AOC (E1759FWU) USB portable monitor. I want to connect 2 of these via USB, will both work?

    Hi,
I am currently replying to this as it shows in the iChat Community.
I have asked the Hosts to move it to Snow Leopard  (you should not lose contact with it through any email links you get)
I also don't do Wirelss printing so I can't actaully help either.

  • Whenever I plugged in HP laserjet M1132 printer usb to my Macbook air,a screen pop-out "the disk inserted are not readable by this computer".I uninstalled

Hi,I'm new here and I think my problem were discussed few times before. However,I tried to follow the solutions similiar to my condition but it does not work.My problem is whenever I plugged in the HP printer (Laserjet M1132 MFP) usb to my Macbook Air,a screen will pop-out and read as 'the disk inserted is not readable by this computer'.I even bought my Mac to the Mac store but the situation remains the same.Okay with other printer but not with my HP.Sigh.The HP printer worked just fine with other computers (not Mac).I'm really sick of it.Please help me.I once plugged in an external hard drive & started Time Machine with it.The printer problem started after that. However, the hard drive plug-in works just fine.
Your attention of above matter is highly appreciated.Thank you.

Here is what worked for me:
I reset the System Management Controller on my MBA.  To do so requires shutting it down, keeping it plugged in to power (I also unplugged both USB connections), and then from a powered off state I simultaneously pressed Shift + Ctl + Option + Power (I did this once and it did not work so I tried again and did it 3 times just to be safe), then released them at once, then I pressed the power button.  Problem solved.

I also tried uninstalling the using the repair Disk Permissions with Disk Utility and moved the HP Printer software accessories to the trash (you can search the web for how to do that but that did not solve the problem either).  Neither of these options worked.

  • When I plug in an USB stick, my MacBook Air disables all USB devices

When I plug in an USB device, my MacBook Air disables all USB devices and the keyboard. It looks like it would freeze, but all applications still work. It just does not respond to neither keyboard nor mouse. The only solution is to force-restart it. What can I do? I am using Lion and have updated it. The same error occured with Snow Leopard as well. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens and sometimes not. I have a suspicion it is related to the devices power consumption in corelation with the battery charging status.
I am using a MacBook Air 13", late 2010 version.

Have you tried plugging the flash drive into a different Mac to see if it works? The Air shouldn't have any problem with it, I use a couple of flash drives in mine, although I don't have a pq1. Did you try both USB ports on the Air? Do you have another flash drive you can test in the Air, or a different USB device, like a hard drive or printer?
The only thing I can think of is either a bad flash drive, or a bad USB port on the Air. Sorry, can't be more help than that.

  • Installing Windows XP with bootcamp from usb thumb on MacBook air 11'

    Hi everyone,
I have a macbook air and I'm new to macs.
I had recently installed win7 on it with bootcamp and a usb drive successfully. But, the 20g space required to install win7 was getting on my nerves (lets put it that way).
I wanted to install a windows xp copy. I erased my win7 partition. Remade a new 20g partition with bootcamp. Then I did the same steps I used to install win7 with my usb drive. But instead of copying win7 files on the drive, I copying my win xp files. Then when I booted my mac with refit and chose to boot with the usb drive (with win xp) I get the error message: non system drive error.
I do not understand what I am doing wrong, since I used the same technique that worked with win7.
Any one has a clue on how to work with this?
Thanks in advance to anyone who knows the answer.
Also if you have a macbook air and successfully installed win xp with a usb drive, I would like to know the steps you used to do it (if its not too much to ask)
I don't want to use parallels or any other virtual machine than a bootcamp copy of win xp.

I can't really assist on your issue however I can point you to the correct forum to post to. There is a forum specifically for Boot Camp, I'd recommend navigating and reposting there. The address is:

This forum is specifically for MBA's however not too many people run Windows on them from what I can tell.

  • Slow USB Card Reader - MacBook Air / Windows 7 64-bit / Boot Camp 3.2

Installation of Windows 7 64-bit on my new MacBook Air 11" seemed to go flawlessly from the attached USB SuperDrive. I see no driver issues or unrecognized devices in Device Manager. However, when attaching my Transcend USB 2.0 Compact Flash card reader to load pictures from my camera into Lightroom 3.3, data transfer is mega-SLOW. It takes several minutes (10?) to transfer just 4 pictures. It seems like it may be operating at USB 1.0 speeds.
Installing software from the SuperDrive on the same USB port seems to work fine. Attaching a USB mouse works fine. However, the USB card reader is very, very slow.
If I attach the same card reader, CF card, and cable to another Windows 7 machine, it works fine, so I don't think there's a problem with my reader / card / cable.
Any thoughts about how I might improve performance for the card reader on the MacBook Air (other than running Mac OS)?
    Thanks!
    Matt

  • Two monitors macbook air

    Hey all
This is my first post in the forum!
    I have a 13" macbook air with osx 10.8.4
I have it connected to an external monitor, but I want to use two screens. I currently have displayport to VGA adaptor to connect to one screen, but I have a second VGA screen that I want to use.
I bought a VGA splitter, but when I connect the splitter to the two screens, I get an error message and neither screen comes on.
Does anyone have any suggestions?!? Please help!
    Thanks all

FWIW, I am seeing this same question asked in a myriad of questions on this board:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21649886?searchText=two%20monitors,%20one% 20macbook%20air#21649886
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18464461?searchText=two%20monitors,%20one% 20macbook%20air#18464461
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21649886?searchText=Two%20monitors,%20one% 20macbook%20air#21649886
And the short version I have found in my searching is that there are third party solutions which have micro processors in them to help drive the video (the video card on the air isn't strong enough) to both monitors...but word on the street says that Apple is quietly pointing out that these are overdriving the boards and will eventually burn them out which means they will need to be replaced at some point.
So the basic answer to the question appears to be: No, you cannot attach two monitors to the MacBook Air without risk.
Personally, I hope Apple is working on a better solution.  It's a fabulous machine otherwise.

  • Firewire to usb adapter for macbook air

    Hello,
Just purchased the latest version Macbook Air.  I'd like to transfer video from a Sony video camera w/mini DV tape, into iMovie '11 on the laptop.  Trouble is, I can't use my existing firewire cable as before on the iMac desktop.  There are prior discussions on the forum about this but none current.  Have there been any new developments in the firewire adapter arena for Macbook Air?  Thx.

Sonnet Technologies is supposed to introduce a Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter called the Sonnet Allegro later this month. http://www.sonnettech.com

  • IPad mini 2 iOS8 alarm when USB connect to MacBook Air iTunes 12

I have a new MacBook Air 13" (OS X V 10.10 1.7 GHz i7) with iTunes 12.0.1 and Yosemite 10.10.  I was able to sync and back up my iPhone 5 (iOS 8.1).  When I plug my iPad Mini Retina (iOS 8.1) it dings and shakes the battery status icon repeatedly and the MacBook gets a message that says "Do you want to allow this computer to access information on 'iPad name'? Options are Cancel and Continue.  Either changes nothing on iPad, but periodically brings up message "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected." on iTunes on MacBook.  The only option is OK.  That begins a loop of that message.
I've tried restarting the MacBook and the iPad but it doesn't change the message.
I first tried it with 8.0 with the same issues so I don't think it's in this release.
During the first time this happened it, put up a message on the iPad asking about trusting this computer.  I tried to select trust, but the dialog box jiggled and flickered and then came back.  That no longer happens.
I've tried using Settings: General: Reset: Reset Location & Privacy.
I was able to back up the iPad to my office PC using iTunes 12.0.1 after I tried and failed backing up on the MacBook.

Since that is a new computer you have, I would take advantage of Apple a Support for the issue ... :-) ... my first choice would be to go to the Genius Bar. Take both down there and show them!

Im using a mtech hiface usb device for audio on my Mac Air. If i disconnect it from its ac and disconnect the hiface from the usb then take the Mac Air to a new location to work then return it I have an awful lot of static. im assuming its static electricity from the move or something. ive tried to ground it with my body by touching the mac air while touching something grounded. The static stops at that point but starts all over when i move my hand away from the computer. Any suggestions, could it be a setting in the USB? Thanks.

  • Hi I'm trying to install an HP C4180 printer as net printer through Alicegate router (Thompson technicolor). Printer works ok when connected with USB to Macbook air, but cannot be seen on the printer installation configuration. Mac OSx 10.7 (Lion)

    Hi folks.
From this morning I'm trying to "see" an HP printer C4180 connected on the USB port of the wi-fi router (TIM Alicegate ADSL2 Wifi+N, manufacturer Technicolor).
I installed latest drivers and checked everything is ok and works fine until printer is connected directly with USB to my Macbook Air.
Then I connect the USB to the router and try to find the printer.
On Alice help suggest to find it by ging to system preferences, then printers, add printer with "+", select "windows" sheet. There I can see - not always in reality, but sometimes - the "workgroup" in the left column, select, "alicegate" in second column, select, and here instead of finding the printer list there is a pop up saying that "the server version you are trying to connect to is not supported".
Reading other forums, it may seem that the problem is Lion not yet supporting this kind of connection.
Here a photo of the situation when the message occurs:

  • MacBook AIr usb ethernet slow when connected to second switch

    Hi,
We have MacBook Airs with 100 Mbps Apple USB ethernet adapters.
We have managed Cisco switches for the LAN.
We experience fast speeds when a USB etherenet/MacBook Air is connected directly to the switch.
However... if we introduce a second switch between the MacBook AIr and the main Cisco switch we experience horiffic slowdowns for some (not all) network activity.
For example, we have IP phones with ethernet passthrough. They work great with iMacs and Thunderbok Macbook Airs. However, if we connect a MacBook AIr/etherenet adpater to the ethernet phone, we expereience a horrific slowdown when using Apple Remote Desktop Manage > Copy items... (and also on connectoins to an in-house database). It's probably 15 - 20x slower than when connected directly to the Cisco switch. Other network operatoins work at expected speeds an the Air.
It's not just connecting to IP phnones that causes this problem. If I use a Netgear 1000/100 switch on the desktop, set up as
MacBok Air USB ethernet > Netgear > Cisco
we have the same horrible slowdown for some network operations.
I purchased a 3rd party USB adpater, but had the same results.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue, please? Is there a setting onn teh CISCO switch that is causing the problem? Any know problmes with USB etherenet on MacBook air.
    Many thanks,
    b.

    RonAnnArbor wrote:
Is this a question? A complaint? Nothing any of us can do about that, and this is a well-documented and well-known issue.
It doesn't effect most MBA users who most likely use wireless for most of their transactions, and the times you need to use ethernet, you are right, it will run slower.
Just curious I have a pretty fast 5N wifi network. If I'm setting up a new MB Air from another laptop is it going to be faster through the ethernet adapter or the wifi network?
