2 Versions Acrobat X Pro 10 in Win7 Programs since update (10.0, 10.1.11) -- and newer is 7.14 GB (!)

Win7 Control Panel/Programs and Features lists two Acrobat versions:
Acrobat X Pro - 6.06 MB - v.10.0
Adobe Acrobat X Pro - English, Francais, ... - 7.14 GB - 10.1.11
QUESTIONS:
Should I uninstall the v.10.0?
Plus, 7.14 GB? Can this be right?

Hi OverYoinderField,
At my end after installing the latest update v 10.1.12 the size of Acrobat 10 is 3.35GB and there's a single entry.
The size that you mention is more than double to what I see at my end.
Is Acrobat working fine for you?
You might want to use the Acrobat cleaner tool ( Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs ) to remove Acrba and rinstall and check.

Rave

I say to highlight more than one if you can because if the PDF you highlight was made by using Acrobat, it will change all PDF's made by Acrobat but if you have one made by some other product, it may not change them to open with Acrobat.
So in other words, at some point you may have to do it to a PDF made by some other product.

FaceTime can run in the version of OS X that you currently have. To get Messageyou need Mountain Lion. The protocol used by Messages is iMeassage.
The question is does your MBP meet the specs for Mountain Lion.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Pro not working (at all) following update

I have been have issues with my Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for a few weeks now.  It stopped allowing me to view, create and print pdfs a few weeks ago.  As I teach part time online at a university- I commonly use pdf's to provide information to my students.  I also use pdf's to transfer data back and for from my work computer - for my full time job - to my home computer and back again.  Not having this availability is really hindering my work.
My computer runs on Windows 7 with a 64 bit operating system.  Up until a few weeks ago I had no problems.  I'm thinking an update may have gone through that caused the issues.
In order to reload my full program I had to completely reformat one of my drives which I had remnants of an old adobe version on it- unfortunately, I did not realize that outlook was still pointing to this drive so I lost a lot of data in the long run- needless to say this adobe issue is has been more than just a nuisance to me.
Once the drive was clean- I was able to reload my software for Adobe XI Pro. It worked perfectly after I loaded it.  At least I was able to breath a sigh of relief.  The next day (yesterday) I was informed that some security updates were needed on the program- considering the age of my disks- It seemed plausible and I received the updates.  This evening, as I was setting up my course for winter semester- I tried to open a pdf- and low and behold- I am back where I was- I can't do anything again.  What is going on here?  I need this program to work- yesterday!  Actually I needed it weeks ago when I started realizing I had issues.
There has to be a fix out there for this problem- and I can't be the only one with this problem.  I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone has!
    Thank you!

    Bill-
Thanks for the suggestion- but unfortunately this doesn't work- the reason being is that "Repair" is not option.
I took a snapshot and attached it of what is available for me when I click on Adobe and as you can see- Repair is not an option.
I'm getting to the point of frustration- I will probably uninstall adobe again and refuse to get any updates for it.  I honestly do not know what else to do.
Without adobe I can't post assignments for my college students to my website.  Winter term starts tomorrow and I am very much behind schedule because of this problem.
I can't be the only person having this issue.
Again- I do appreciate the suggestion.  Wish it would have worked.

  • Acrobat X Pro problem after 10.1.7 update

Acrobat X Pro only displays in default courier font after update to 10.1.7.  Anyone else seeing this?  Suggestions for a fix appreciated.
Windows 8, MacBook Pro 2.9GHz, Intel Core i7; 8 GB RAM

    OK, figured it out.
My problem was that I was reusing AIPs, which Adobe discourages in their Enterprise Admin Guide.
For every quarterly update, you have to recreate the AIP, then apply the new quarterly patch. I don't feel this is adequately explained in the guide, but it's the only series of steps that worked for me.
    So:
    Create a new 10.0.0 AIP
msiexec /a C:\Acrobat\AcroPro.msi (where AcroPro.msi is an unmodified, original 10.0.0 package. Re-extract from the 10.0.0 installer if you only have patched versions left)
choose a unique subfolder for this AIP, something like C:\Acrobat\AIP_1011\
Patch this new AIP with your quarterly patch
    msiexec /a C:\Acrobat\AIP_1011\AcroPro.msi /p AcrobatUpd1011.msp
Now you can push out installs with this new, patched AcroPro.msi in your new AIP folder
    msiexec /i C:\Acrobat\AIP_1011\AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS=C:\Acrobat\transform.mst REINSTALLMODE=vomus REINSTALL=all REBOOT=reallysuppress /qb

  • Acrobat X Pro 10.1.8: How do I get access to "Poster", "Multiple" and "Booklet" in print-dialogue (g

I recently upgraded to Acrobat X Pro 10.1.8. When printing a large PDF (>90 pages) I wanted to print multiple pages on one. But the button to access this option (like the button for poster and booklet) is greyed out. So I deleted the printer and reinstalled it with up-to-date-driver and PPD-file. No success. I have an identical installation on a second Mac. Printing n-up from there works just fine... Any ideas what to do?

  • Acrobat X Pro quits after a few seconds of having a PDF file open, and brings me to the Software Agreement screen

It's a cycle: open Acrobat > 5 seconds later Acrobat quits with no warning > license agreement page opens > I click Accept > Acrobat opens > Acrobat quits without warning ... repeat.
    I have Acrobat X Pro v 10.1.13. I have Mac OS X 10.9.5.
    Very frustrating.
I have Production Premium CS6 too.
I tried deleting the com Adobe files in Preferences under both Library and ~/Library, as a chat support tech recommended, as well as deactivating CS6, but this does not fix the problem.

    Hello Alon Hafri,
Could you please try installing Creative Suite from a new user account.
Sometimes, a user account gets corrupt and prevents installer from accessing the required files.
Please create a new account with administrative privileges, log in to it and run the installer.
Now check and let me know.

  • Acrobat X Pro--problems after 6/14/11 update

Has anyone else seen problems with the print cycle after doing the 10.1 (6/14/11) update to Acrobat X Pro?
These only started happening with that update: uninstalling the updated AXPro and reinstalling from the original distribution causes the problems to go away.  But letting the update run from the automatic download always causes these problems to reappear.
(This is on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit; 8-processor i7 with 8Gb RAM and 2.5Tb of disk space; so hardware is not a problem.)
What I'm seeing are two, seemingly related, things:
    1) Having Distiller (from any app or browser) write a PDF into a 'normal' folder with "View Adobe PDF results" checked, causes the PDF to go into that directory as expected.  However, acrobat.exe does not appear to start, and if you go to the output folder and double-click on the file, Reader reports that the file is locked.
On bringing up Windows Task Manager as administrator, going to the Processes tab and then having it "Show processes from all users" reveals that acrobat.exe is indeed running, but it's running as a SYSTEM process, not a user process.  Now, under Windows, SYSTEMS processes cannot be brought forward into the USER space in which the GUI is running (it can't access the user's desktop), so that copy of acrobat.exe cannot come to the desktop.
The solution is to use Task Manager to slam the process (right-click on "Acrobat.exe *32" [*32 means it's still a 32-bit executable], then click 'terminate process'), which kills the hidden Acrobat session.  This frees the PDF so that it can then be hand-opened with a USER-level copy of Acrobat.  This is a royal PITA to have to do after every print job!
    2) Setting Distiller to write the output into an encrypted folder causes the same problem as in 1), however, Distiller also writes bad security data (or errantly causes that bad security data to be written) into those files.  This means that, even after killing the headless Acrobat process, the generated PDF's cannot be opened, no matter how high your security level.  (Nor can you open them if you move them from that encrypted into an unencrypted folder, if the system will permit you to do the move--sometimes it won't because of those screwed up SID's [security ID's].)
I've worked with the internals of the Vista/7 security mechanisms in Windows, but cannot find a way to fix these files.
The only solution is to delete those corrupt PDF files and reprint, this time into a non-encrypted folder, then follow the "solution" for 1).
I filed a bug report on these conditions last week, but haven't received any acknowledgement of that.

Not here. All I can suggest is to DL and install the HP Update 2.6. Photosmart C4680.

  • My institution purchase Adobe Acrobat XI pro but with a recent software update, I have lost access.

My instituion purchased Adobe Acrobat XI pro. With a recent software upgrade, I have lost all access.

    Hi Dawn,
We might want to have a look at the install logs to determine the cause.
Please try the following basic steps :
    > Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 ( Ref :  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/ )
    > Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )
    > Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
Reboot and try installing in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

  • Need a script to check the version of Office365 Pro Plus to push our office updates

I need a script that could check the version of office365 pro plus e.g ( 15.0.4711.1002) and if it doesn't exists on users machine than to deploy a latest version from a network location
I have an XML which works fine with downloading and even when deploying onto test machine but would not work on users which has an encrypted HDD and windows firewall turned on. the machine don't seem to pull the updates from Microsoft hence why wanted to
deploy the updates through a GPO start-up script
Currently the script would run the setup countless times without checking version and exiting the process if the version found. I hope the information given is adequate. Thanks

Frederik, After some tweaking and testing i was able to get it working, I haven't tested it via GPO as a startup script but standalone it is doing what i was after. I cant thank you enough for helping me on this as i had lost hope after days worth of intense

Change that i had to apply ( space in a network path
was causing a "path not found error", Had to rename the "Office365 update" and update the path in Customconfig.xml  or any other location that was pointing to "office365 update" )
     set DeployServer=\\contoso\c2r\Office365 update\
REM Set ConfigFile to the configuration file to be used for

    set ConfigFile=\\contoso\c2r\Office365 update\Customconfig.xml
REM Set LogLocation to a central directory to collect script

  • Acrobat 9 Pro: How do I change default "save as" setting to avoid saving as newer version?

When we generate a PDF from a postscript file, it is Version 1.4. If you do a "save as" to that file, it becomes 1.5. We would prefer to keep it as 1.4. We do not want to use the Save As Optimized feature since it flattens and degrades the file, specifically artwork. I cannot find any setting in Preferences that accomplishes this. There is a similar posting for this issue that was never answered.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The only way to keep it as a 1.4 version is to use either Reduce File Size or the PDF Optimizer. I think with AA9 the RFS is under the document menu and Optimize is under the tools menu, possibly under a submenu. Sure wish they would quit moving things. In those tools you can set the compatibility to several different versions. When you do the operation you have been using, it is assumed you are wanting to save to be compatible with possible features you have added from AA9. Not a great assumption, but it is the basic idea. Most programs do this type of saving and do not necessarily maintain backward compatibility.
