(2) versions of Firefox (2.0.0.20 & 8.0) I want to remove (2.0)

My HD is Full causing my PC to work really slow. When I open (Add/Remove Programs) the largest file that I have is Firefox (2.0.0.20) @ 1,843.00MB. Firfox (8.0) @ 35.64MB is also present. When I click (Remove) on Firefox (2.0.0.20) Nothing Happens ??? I have Removed/Re-Installed both (7.0 & 8.0) in the past. Still un-able to remove (2.0.0.20)

Are you sure that you still have that older version still installed? <br />
Do you have two Program Files folders for Firefox?
Firefox release versions have always installed to the same Program Files folder, so unless you did a Custom installation of Firefox to a different folder at some point, you probably only have the newer version of Firefox installed. WinXP is notorious for not clearing the old Registry keys for older versions of some programs after those programs have been updated, making Add & Remove Programs look like the older version is still installed.

  • How can I unistall an old version of Firefox if I do not have it in my add/remove programs?

I have Windows XP. I had Mozilla Firefox until I did a system restore,
now my desktop icon doesn't work and when I try to download a new
version of Firefox, it downloads but I get error messages when trying
    to install it.

I should add, that when I do a search for Firefox files and applications, it returns over 300. Should I delete them all?

  • After updating tot the newest version of firefox, the browser asks me everytime if I want it to remember my passwords. I don't want that. How do I stop this?

In the left corner of the browser I see a key now and every time I log in to a site or e-mail a pop-up shows up, asking me if i want to remember the password. I don't want the browser to do this. It's quite annoying. How do I turn this feature permanently off.

Go to Options -> Security, and uncheck the "Remember Passwords for Sites" Checkbox.

  • Some sites (Youtube, Comcast, etc., think I'm using an old version of Firefox, but I have the latest version.

Some sites such as Youtube, Comcast, and others give me a warning that I am not using a compatible browser and suggest installing Firefox (among others).
Even this page that I am typing on now thinks I have Firefox 2.0.0.14!
However, I have Firefox 3.6.12 installed and seemingly working fine. I've even tried re-installing the latest version of Firefox over my current installation (I don't want to uninstall first, as I am afraid of losing my Bookmarks), but to no avail.
Can anybody tell me what's wrong? Thanks very much!

  • How to see the version of firefox im using?

I have to which version of firefox im currently using? so that i can install latest version.

Aurora is a web browser, it is a development version of Firefox. It is used for those who want to test the features and innovations that are intended to be in the next version of Firefox.
The development builds are not intended for most people, only for those who are happy with testing programs.

  • Is there a nightly 64-bit version of firefox for windows?

I know that you cannot compile a official stable version of 64 bit Windows because you mistakenly think it's enough with the unefficient 32bit version. But what I want to ask you is if there is a nightly version of 64 bit for windows, and if it exists, where can I get it, Zipped or installer (please, I would like binaries; I don't want to fight for hours with many configuration files, compiling process and so on).
PD: Please release a 64 bit version of firefox on Windows. What more do you want to postpone it?
I saw a st*pid answer like «Yep :) Firefox works fine on both 32bit and 64 bit, so no need to worry :) », but this is NOT a solution. I have a 64bit OS, then, I would like to use full advantages and performance of this more modern platform rather than a less capable version. I dont have many GB of RAM and a multicore CPU as a decoration.

Win64 Nightly has existed for some time however they are not supported (like the Win32, Mac OSX 32/64-bit and Linux 32/64-bit are) as they are currently more for to catch breakage/regressions. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Supported_build_configurations
No it is not simply because the 32-bit version works.
The 64-bit Windows builds has still been a work in progress on a number of things that needs to be in order, especially for Win64 Releases to happen.

Try to remove the old certificate. Also check if there are intermediate certificates used and stored.

  • Downloaded new version of Firefox, unplugged Java 6.26 I WANT IT BACK NOW

I downloaded the new version of Firefox and this 'unplugged' Java 6.26, I WANT THIS VERSION OF JAVA BACK WORKING WITH FIREFOX OR I WILL DEFAULT TO INTERNET EXPLORER ...How do I get it back. CANNOT LOG ON WITH FIREFOX TO A IMPORTANT APPLICATION NOW..

The Google Toolbar and other extensions for Firefox include a list of compatible Firefox versions. Currently, the Google Toolbar only goes up to Firefox 4. However, people have tested and it actually works on Firefox 5, so there are two workarounds:
    (1) Edit a file to revise the range of compatible versions
    (2) Install an add-on that lets you ignore the range of compatible versions
This thread has info on both approaches: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/837142 google toolbar does not work with firefox 5.0. why not! | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help].

  • When I drag the Firefox icon to Applications it asks me if I want to replace a more current version of Firefox with this version that I have just downloaded.

I have lost the exact wording of the message but the implication was that there was already a newer version of Firefox in my Applications file and did I want to replace that with the version I had just downloaded. When it keeps bugging me to download a newer version, can it not tell that the newer version already exists on my computer?

That has to do with time stamps of files (Firefox 3.6.18 was released at a later time) and you can ignore that error and install Firefox 5.

  • I installed the latest version of Firefox last night. It worked 3-4 times flawlessly. Now, it crashes at startup and gives me a box with crash detail report. How can I fix this?

I have a brand new HP dv8t laptop that is straight from the manufacturer 2 days ago.
Last night, I attempted to download and installed the latest version of Firefox. After installing, it worked great for an hour or so (3.4 different sessions).
Then, this morning when I came back to the computer, Firefox crashes at startup and gives me the option of finding a solution online or quitting the program.
    How aggravating!
I have installed this same version on 2 other computers that I own, without any issue.
I have attempted to uninstall Firefox from the dv8 and reinstalling, to no avail.
I cannot find the crash report, but I do this see this message once the app crashes:

  • I upgrade from the previous version to Firefox 4.o, I can no longer connect to my work HTTPS website.

The site I connect to is my citrix account at work, which needs a certificate. I could connect with the previous version of Firefox (3.6). When I upgraded the browser I got the errors mentioned earlier. I changed the setting for the specific setting from false to true. I still unable to connect and got a different error. Could someone please help! Thanks - Aldo

If you used the option to delete settings, or whatever it is worded when uninstalling, Firefox will remove all your important data information from profiles for all installed versions of Firefox, and you will then need luck and a file recovery utility to try to restore the information.
You mentioned files being moved to Trash, I was hoping you may still have the required original files. I use Windows XP, and I realise Macs use different locations for files, but I think the files have the same names.

Note the last article discusses problems when bookmarks are lost, and some of the possible reasons and solutions. Obviously I do not know what has actually happened in your case, and whether or not you used the delete option I initially mentioned.

  • I downloaded the new version of Firefox and it will not open certain of the addresses that I use to run my business. How can I delete this version and go back to the previous version? thank you

I would like to revert back to the previous version of Firefox. Please tell me how to do this

hello and thank you for your suggestion. I have tried it and, when trying to open a program which I previously was able to, still get the following message:
    Remote XUL
This page uses an unsupported technology that is no longer available by default in Firefox.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
Seems unbelievable that I previously had no problem and now I do. Have you any suggestions to overcome this? Do you think I can go back further in Firefox history to get a version that will make it possible to access this. Many thanks! Lynn
