2 Versions of the Application Manager?

There are 2 utilities: The AdboeCreativeCloudClient and the Adobe Application Manager. Launching the CoudClient launches an app called "Adobe Application Manager" (with options to install software). Launching the Application Manager seperately will open a DIFFERENT app where I can update installed software. If I launch the CloudClient I can't launch the AAM since it appears to be open (but it's not). What a mess!
This whole Cloud Membership is really frustrating. I spent and hour (again) with phone "support" since I was prompted to type in a serial number I never received. Support told me to download and re-install the whole suite on 2 computers (nooo!!) but a re-start "fixed" the problem. Terrible experience and a waste of time. I have the feeling there will be more of that soon....

Hi Rodscha,
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. You are correct the Adobe Application Manager behaves differently based on how it is launched, Start Menu (Windows) or Applications folder (Mac) for Creative Cloud versus Help > Updates.

  • Application manager insisting I "renew my subscription" but I have a standalone version of acrobat. Any way to convince the manager that my product is registered? There does not seem to be any manual additions in the application manager app.

I am using Mac OS X (yosemite). I had a creative cloud student subscription for a year (expired in September) and I did not renew. However, I did purchase adobe acrobat XI. I am not sure of the exact day it stopped working (before or after OS upgrade), but now the application manager takes over after I start acrobat and insists I do not have a subscription and must renew. I checked the web and my product is registered and I have the serial number, which I enter upon installation. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything to no avail. I even contacted adobe and they seemed to have a hard time understanding why I was having a problem since the product was registered. I could not devote much time to the online chat so needless to say, my problem still persists.

Moving this discussion to the Acrobat Installation & Update issues forum.
Adugasjr please remove your current installation of Acrobat and reinstall.  If you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available at Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X.

  • Trying to update the application manager in adobe photoshop cs6

" I get this message in the log file.
" Adobe Application Manager There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later. Error Code: U43M1D204 "
So far I have tried most of the suggestions but without luck. I would like to find out if there is another way to
    download the "Application manager"
I have installed Photoshop 6 from my disk and downloaded and installed the update to ver 13.0.1 x 64 without any glitches
    and all works well.
I am using "Windows 10 pro Technical Preview"

Have you tried to start the bridge CS6  then open Photoshop CS6 try to use the mini bridge.
I have a problem on windows too.  Sometimes when I open CS6 version 13.1.2 and try to use the mini bridge Its panels has a message Bridge must be running and there is a launch bridge button. When I use that button Bridge  gets launched but may hangs before displaying its application window or anything in the mini bridge panel.  I can terminate the bridge when this happens with windows task manager and start the bridge. After doing that the mini bridge launch button became a reconnect button using it mini bridge then work.
I can also start Bridge CS6 before  Photoshop CS6 and mini bridge works as soon as Photoshop is up and running.

My computer is Win8.1 64bit. Where can i download Adobe acrobat DC 64 bit? The application manager always download 32 bits application for me!
(I tryed PS and AI just now. the application manager installed 64bits PS and AI. Why it can't find a 64bit acrobat for me?!)

Acrobat runs as a 64-bit application on Mac. Acrobat on Windows is a 32-bit application that can run and has been tested on 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows 7 and 8, and Windows Server 2008 and 2012.

  • Whats the purpose for the Application Manager?

Here's what I'd LIKE the application manager to do:
I use the Adobe Creative Cloud.  This was advertised as a service where you go to always get the latest Adobe software so everything is kept up to date. I assumed this to mean that the patches that come out occasionally would be monitored and put on the cloud to install. (NOT TRUE.  Patches aren't tracked or offered for download.)
Then, it seems to me that the Application Manager would look at whats on the cloud and whats on your machine, and if you're not up to date on something, it notifies you and asks if you want to update, then does it.
But, it doesn't do any of this!  It just prevents me from installing ANY PATCHES to any software and making me reinstall itself which doesn't do any good.
I don't get it.  This whole Creative Cloud and Application Manager is an EPIC FAILURE.
Get it right, guys!  You're the 900 lb. gorillas in creative software.  Surely you can figure this stuff out.

Not necessarily. I'm a tech person so I usually like having the latest ang greatest version of the software that I'm using. So if you're happy with 4.3 and it's not crashing or causing errors then feel free to keep using it.
You can always try 4.7 and if you don't like it uninstall it and reinstall 4.3

Further, it sends you top the Analyser which is no longer supported and it sends you to a page for CS6 which refers you back to it at the bottom. THere was no reference to Application Manager in the log file, only Extension, Restart and Font managers.

installing too many apps can cause problems sometimes, and may be 1 or 2 of them causing conflict.
So one work around is to uninstall all of them and install them one by one and see which one of them is causing problem. (thats some time taking work indeed,)
Otherwise Soft reset can help you, it'll wipe phone mem/C and phone will be in "Out of Box" condition. if you have any intention to do a soft reset PLEASE REMEMBER TO BACKUP FIRST.
    Soft Reset;

    Good luck.
I have an X6 and it suffers from exactly the same problem. I believe that the problem is not caused by one or two apps creating a conflict but instead that the OP (Original Poster) just has too many apps installed at once.
Nokia in its wisdom decided to scrimp on the installed RAM for its 2009 handsets e.g. N97 & X6 and I believe it's this lack of available free RAM that causes this problem in opening the Application Manager when too many apps are installed (e.g. more than 30 or 35 depending on the apps themselves). You click the icon, wait a few seconds with a blank screen and are then dumped back at the previous menu... translates to: Open the App Manager, it starts counting and scanning all the installed apps, it counts/scans up so far and then runs out of RAM and cannot continue to analyse the rest so it auto closes which is the normal behaviour for S60 when RAM memory runs really low.
You can try coolbelief's idea but I think you'll find it a waste of time. Ideally you'll have to cut back on the number of apps you have installed on the phone. If you want more than 30 to 35 apps installed on your phone then you'll have to be resigned to the fact that the App Manager won't function You can kind of work around the fact that the App Manager is disabled... if you need to uninstall a particular application, just go to its icon in the menu or menu sub-folder, click:
"Options" > "Organise" > highlight the app you want rid of > "Options" > "Remove"
I can forgive the X6 most of its faults due to that gorgeous screen but lack of free RAM is one pet hate that irritates me the most especially since my old handset was an N82 which had copious levels of free RAM.

  • How can I flush/repair installed programs in the Application Manager / Creative Cloud?

Hi. I had installed a few of the Adobe programs through the Application Manager/Creative Cloud service on a Windows 7 system. The system crashed, forcing me to recover from a prior time backup, which was from before I installed the programs. Now, the Adobe Application Manager shows the prior programs as "Installed", and will not allow me to re-install them. These programs *do not* appear in Window's "Uninstall Programs" listing for me to uninstall manually, *nor* do they appear in the Start Menu to launch. And as far as I can tell, they no longer have Registry entries.
How do I flush the Application Manager to tell it that I do not have these programs installed anymore, or force it to re-install?
    Thanks.

I don't believe the data on what is installed and what is not is held at Adobe; I think it is in your particular instance of the AAM that "knows" what is installed.
I'm not sure what happened to me will help you or not but... Also, I have a Mac not a Win7 system.
In my case, I had Acrobat X Pro and I download Acrobat XI. Acrobat does not like to install when there is an older version already on the machine. Adobe tells you to unistall the older version and then install the new version. Why this isn't in their install scripts is beyond me. The installer for Acrobat XI ran sucessfully. I didn't realize the problem until I went to open a PDF.
I manually uninstalled Acrobat X. Still had problems. Then I manually uninstalled Acrobat XI. (Both times I used the uninstaller Adobe provides.) I started AAM and it showed the XI installed. I tried the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool. The tool is supposed to clear out any left overs after an uninstall and thus "flush" AAM. When I ran the Cleaner, Acrobat XI didn't show up in the list of programs. I eventually found a second uninstaller for Acrobat XI that cleaned things up such that AAM agreed I needed to install the software.
With the disk-based installs, when you ran the installer you got an option to "repair" the current installation. Why you have to jump through all the hoops that AAM has not is beyond me. It would seem more rational to put options into AAM directly to let you re-install things or repair them. This is one where Adobe dropped the ball.

  • Why do some applications update independant of the application manager

    Hello All
I am unsure, but fairly confident, that I am not the only one experiencing this. It seems that for whatever reason Acrobat, Lightroom, Muse and a few other apps have thier own installers and updaters. Why?
What is even more of a pain is the fact that each installation of Lightroom puts itself in a directory with the new version number breaking my shortcuts to it. yes there is a new one made on my desktop, but i have a gadget with a shortcut on it to all my important apps. Every installation of Lightroom breaks that link.
Could we not get all the apps in our creative cloud subscription to be installed and updated directly from the application manager? and could it not break my links?

What other apps is it happening with?

    Help

For whatever reason you don't have the Yosemite version of Disk Utility which is 13. I suggest you reinstall Yosemite.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the 10.10.1 update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Check that you have the current version of Disk Utility.

Can you close other applications open on your computer, and retry before the experts here suggest other solutions?
