apple support is hopeless!!!!!!
please help!

Just so we're all on the same page here, when you say "I have done that everytime it fails to install." did you follow the steps exactly as outlined in the two referenced support documents or did you just try & do things on your own? If the later, I'd suggest you follow the steps as outlined. If in fact you have followed these steps, I'm sorry but I have no further suggestions.

  • IPhone not recognised in iTunes after upgrading to 10.0.1

Hi, I hope someone out there can help with a problem I have with my iPhone 3GS currently running 4.1.
I recently upgraded to iTunes 10.0.1 and iTunes has not worked correctly since.
When I connect my iPhone to PC with a USB I receive the usual pop-up asking what I would like to do with the device, but when I open iTunes, the phone is not located and listed in Devices (devices not even shown on the menu).
    I have tried all manner of different things to fix;
    Restarted PC
    Restarted iPhone
    Opened iTunes before connecting phone
    Connected phone before starting iTunes
    Connected using different USB cables
    Used different USB ports
Restarted Apple Mobile Device and iPod Service in Administrative Tools > Services
Uninstalled 10.0.1 and re-installed a previous version of iTunes
After all this, my iPhone is still not being recognised in iTunes.
Can anybody out there help please??
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi,
Hopefully someone on here might be able to help me also =)
I can't be 100% certain when but pretty sure it's since I updated to itunes 10 I haven't been able to sync or charge my iphone through my laptop, although it still charges through mains charger. My laptop makes a noise when I plug the iphone in but does not recognise it in windows or itunes. I have tried the above steps but cannot locate the phone anywhere in device manager or when in recovery mode. Have tried different cables and usb drives aswell as restarting etc.
    Any advice appreciated
    Holly

  • IPhone not recognised by iTunes 10.4

Since downloading iTunes 10.4 my Mac no longer recognises my iPhones.  I just upgraded to Lion OSX 10.7 in the hope that would fix it.  Alas, I still can't see my phones in iTunes, so I can't sync them.
I've tried everything including reinstalling iTunes, putting the correct iTunesHelper into login items, checking and unchecking the "prevent ipods, iphones from syncing automatically" in iTunes.
    Please help!!!!!

    You were right.
I've read other forums suggesting that it was due to the cable but I ignored it as my cable was like yours - it charges fine and also, in another computer - it charges and recognized the device just fine.
After reading your post, I tried it with another iPhone cable and it miraculously worked. My iPhone is recognized by iTunes.
The things is, both cables are in normal condition and are both genuine Apple cables.
I'm glad mine's finally recognized though

  • Iphone not recognised in iTunes on new MAC

I’m hoping someone can help? I have been using a PC to sync my iphone in itunes. I have a new Macbook and I want to start syncing my phone with that but the device is not being recognised. I have copied my library across for the PC to the MAC but when I plug my phone in to the MAC it automatically opens iphoto but does not respond to the phone. I have authorised my MAC in itunes and reinstalled itunes twice but still no joy. Has anyone had a successful outcome to a similar problem?

    try this first:
launch *Image Capture* while your iPhone is connected. Image Capture can be found in your computer's applications folder.
go to the Devices pulldown menu and select iPhone. now, go to the Image Capture pulldown menu and select preferences. In the general tab, change +when a camera is connected, open+ to +no application+. click OK, then quit Image Capture.
as for the iPhone not being recognized by iTunes, try the troubleshooting tips here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591?viewlocale=en_US.

  • Ipod touch and nano not recognised with itunes

    Hi
I updated my itunes yesterday.  I have a new shuffle (4th gen I think) but 4th gen nano and 2nd gen touch.  Itunes recognises my shuffle no problem and I was able to sync ok, but it won't recognise the touch or nano, I tried 2 different usb cables but still won't recognise, is it something to do with older gen models not working with the new itunes??? I have a fairly new computer running off new windows package.  Itunes was recognising all my ipods until I installed the new itunes.  Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks.

It sounds to me like an issue with your iTunes, try un-installing the software and re-installing it and see what happens then. It seems a little odd that it won't recognise 2 iPods, so I highly doubt it is the iPods' fault.
If it deosn't work after re-installing, take it to the Apple Store (with your computer, if it is portable) and they should be able to help out

  • IPhone not syncing with iTunes when plugged in

For the iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, the iPhone is supposed to automatically sync with iTunes over Wi-Fi when plugged into a power source. This is not working for me. The iTunes is connected to my phone over Wi-Fi, and the Settings are all approiate. However, the iPhone will not sync automatically; I need to manually start the sync from either iTunes or my iPhone. It's not working automatically. Does anyone know of a fix? I have a black iPhone 4S 16GB on Verizon.

In iTunes,go to Help > Diagnostics.
    Run tests
If the issue is device not found go to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US
I ran through process to update drivers now phone is charging and recognised by my computer.
Also if need be go to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567

  • Iphone not working with itunes

Just got an Iphone 3gs. Downloaded itunes but when i plug the phone in it says "this iphone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer toi remove itunes and install the 64 bit version." The version i have is the 64 bit version that is on the website. I have reinstalled 4 times. Any help would be awesome.

yes. this is clearly a software issue and not an issue with my account or iphone. it would have to recognize the iphone to tell me that the iphone can't be used with this version of the software. that is the error, that it is the correct version of the software. My question is clearly how to find a way to remedy this specific problem. why is the 64 version of itunes saying it isn't the 64 version when i connect my iphone?

  • Iphone not recognised in itunes, iphone not recognised in itunes

Windows XP , iPhone 4 Itunes latest.
I have followed ALL of the suggestions to resolve why my iPhone does not show in iTunes. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
It worked before although everytime iTunes updated I had problems connecting again.
When iPhone is plugged in to usb windows recognises it as a camera no prob.
    Cheers

I have the same problem too. My phone wont show on my pc that's why I can't move my photos. But it does show on itunes.
Then I went to device manager and this is what I found. I dont know what to do though.

  • IPhone not Working with iTunes on New iMac

I recently upgraded a family member's iMac from an early Intel iMac to a new i5 iMac. Both the old and the new were running 10.6.4 and had iTunes 9.2.1.
I used the simple transfer functionality when setting up the new iMac to transfer everything over from the old iMac
When I loaded up iTunes on the new iMac and connected the iPhone (3GS, iOS 4.0.2), nothing happened. I checked System Profiler and it was there.
After trying a couple times, restarting, etc, I followed the instructions here to entirely remove and reinstall iTunes and its files from the new iMac: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1224
(I did everything, including the "Additionally..." instructions at the bottom).
This did the trick - The iPhone was recognized by iTunes. However, the next time I restarted the iMac everything went back to the old (no iPhone recognition by iTunes).
Any advice on what I might be missing?

It seems I only need to reinstall iTunes, not delete everything first, to get iTunes to recognize the iPhone until restart.
What in the restart process could cause this to go away?

  • IPhone not recognised in iTunes

    Hello there,
I'm having trouble with my iPhone 3G-S in that iTunes isn't recognising it as connected. It's fully connected, I have the latest version of itunes (i've just this second downloaded it) and the AMDS is 'started'.
The only thing my iPhone screen is showing is a picture of a cable with an arrow pointing to 'itunes'. But it's plugged in. And if it helps, the iPhone isn't registering on my computer either.
Pleeeeeease help, I've not had it long and have just got used to it :-/
    Many thanks,
    Jonno

Ok, well firstly thanks for the prompt response. Unfortunately, this guide hasn't helped.
I'm runnning the right computer software (hence why it's worked before)
The phone battery is fine and not flat
I've tried using different USB 2.0 ports
    I've restarted the iPhone
    Restarted the computer
And already downloaded the latest version of iTunes.
Is there anything else i can do?
    Thanks again

  • IPhone not syncing with iTunes

I check all the correct boxes in itunes on my lap top when my iPhone is connected, the capacity bar shows the extent of the data to be synced including about 20G's of audio, but when the sync is completed the capacity bar in iTunes shows no memory used for audio and there is no music on my iPhone. I've rebooted both my laptop and iPhone yet I keep getting the same results.

I have the 2003 17" iMac (flat panel on a moveable chrome arm, round base; aka "iLamp"). I sync my iPhone to it on a regular basis. USB1.1 is a lot slower than USB2 but, in general, it works.
I have run into some quirks that seem to be USB-related. For some reason, when the Keyboard/Mouse and iPhone are each connected directly to the back of the iMac, the iMac thinks the iPhone is connected through the Keyboard. I solved this by moving the Keyboard/Mouse to a USB hub (at <$20, much cheaper than a new Mac). iTunes does not like to (a) auto-sync when the iPhone is docked and further (b) be open before the iPhone is docked. I've turned off auto-sync in the iPhone's Summary tab in iTunes and always dock the iPhone before launching iTunes. If I have pictures on the iPhone that have not been synced to iPhoto yet, iPhoto will launch when the iPhone is docked. Sometimes, iTunes won't find the iPhone or will error out when there are un-synchronized photos.
Overall, I'm satisfied with using the iLamp and an iPhone. Enough so that it is tiding me over until I decide when to buy a new MBP or MB.

  • IPhone not synching with iTunes - Windows 8.1

A quick search finds that Microsoft Support is referring people to this Apple forum.
The iPhone does show in "This PC" (formerly "My Computer).  Device Manager reports that the device is working properly.
I will keep looking, but any help is appreciated.
    Dell Laptop - Windows 8.1 - 64 bit - 4 gigabytes of RAM.

The iPhone will only show in My Computer if there is content in the Camera Roll. The device cannot be searched/mounted like a removable drive.
Do you have a passcode on the phone? Try disconnecting the phone from the computer, unlocking the phone with the passcode and then connecting the phone again. It seems that Windows 8 and 8.1 will not always recognize the phone if it is locked.
If that does not work, then see this support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
