2 WRT54G's in series...changes Firmware?

I have 2 WRT54Gs connected to the same internet connection in series. Both use the direct connection. One works fine; the other does not. One drops the connection constantly. On closer inspection, I open the admin of the router in question. It shows a Firmware version of 1.50.8 when the connection is down. When the connection is up, the router admin shows a firmware version of 2.00.8.  There is no issue if I bypass the router in question; however, i can still pull up the router admin page. Is it pulling from the first router now, or is it possible that the 'bad' router is actually fluctating between firware versions?

The router does not change the firmware. If you see different results it is because you have connected the router incorrectly. You sometimes access the one router and sometimes the other one. Simply test this when you unplug bother routers from anything else and then wire a single computer to it. Then you'll see what firmware version you run on that router.
I guess, you have wired/configured the routers incorrectly. You cannot chain two routers without reconfiguring one of them.
As you don't write why you have two WRTs or what the purpose of the setup is I can only suggest you set them up like this. This will create a single LAN and allows you to setup a wireless roaming network if you configure both WRTs with identical wireless settings except for the channel number.

  • Problem with replacement of index series, change of base year

    Hi Experts!
I try to explain my problem in Real Estate.
In Italy from January 2011 the baseline (base year) national index of consumer prices for the entire community (NIC) and national consumer price index for families of workers and employees (CPI) moved from 1995 to 2010.
So, I have to change the base year of index in Rent Adjustment.
I think I have changed the base year from 1995 to 2010.
(Path: Real Estate>Rent Adjustment>Index>Replacement of index series, change of base year)
In table TIVAJINDXCON (previous was empty) now there is this record:
    SERIESTO: 08000
    BASEYEARTO: 1995
    SERIESFROM: 08000
    BASEYEARFROM: 2010
    CHAINDATE: 31.12.2010
    INDEXBASETO: 1,373
But with transaction FOA0 it seems that the rent adjustment still consider 1995 as base year instead of 2010.
I have to set the SAP application as to use 2010 as new base year instead of 1995.
Would you please forward me with any support.
    Best regards,
    Thank you.

  • WRT54G the SSID keeps changing on it's own

WRT54G the SSID keeps changing on it's own every few days on my secure network then I need reset the SSID and Key again

It would help to know how the SSID changes exactly, i.e. what SSID you have set up and to what it changes.
Does you router have a secure easy setup button? On the latest WRT54G models it should be a button with a Cisco logo. Do you or anyone press that button?

  • Change firmware from HPG8 to SN06 of Hdd ST31000340NS (Part number:9CA158-784) size 1tb

      Hi all,
Could anyone please help to provide procedure to change firmware from HPG8 to SN06 of Hdd ST31000340NS (Part number:9CA158-784). My controller LSI 3ware 9650SE support SN06 firmware.I am facing raid degraded issue.
Is it recommaded by HP to change firmware if we have any HDD failure.
    Thanks,
    Amit

    Hello Xenpus,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the computer has a RAID degrading issue. I think that updating the BIOS is a good starting place. But based on what you told me, it seems like there is a hardware issue. If you cannot fix it, I would contact HP phone support for hardware assistance. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide

  • WRT54GS, multiple computers keep changing ip.

My WRT54G has been great so far, but when under the challenge of running a radio station, 80% of the time it fails to work.
I am with firmware version v1.05.3. Before solving the current solution can anyone direct me to the latest firmware update? Im overcautious about downloading for this hardware.
I am trying to host a Winamp Shoutcast radio server and the error always appears like this:
    <06/05/07@21:44:00> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)
<06/05/07@21:44:00> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 86.4.227.179:5012) from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out).)
My setup is that i have a Desktop machine connected via wire to the router, and a laptop connection via Wireless. Depending on which machine accesses the router, they keep changing IP in a way that the first machine gets one ip and the next gets the other. I have forwarded my ports and the radio station fails to appear most of the time. I can only think that:
    A. I need to update my firmware to the latest version.
    B. I need to setup my router so that when my wireless laptop accesses the router at anytime, it will always retain the exact same IP.
A step by step would be very helpful, and for menu understanding, i am using Windows XP. Thank you for any advice. It appears with my current firmware that forwarding ports does make things work, but unpredictably.
    ~Paul

I have solved this problem, it has been on the shoutcast forums as a problem for many but they did not explain correctly that to be able to host a server you had to Port-Forward the host port number 80. Up to you if you would want to add this to the FAQ section because i know for sure there have been many having Linksys > Shoutcast issues. Both the series of ports need to be forwarded:
8000-8001 UPD and TCP (as shoutcast stated)
80 (<<the most IMPORTANT port that will ensure your server works 100% stable and free)
I have configured and tested for several days and this was the simple solution, it may be a good idea to have this forum post more highlighted for future users.

  • WRT54G v8: Unable to change some settings via the browser interface

I have a WRT54G V8 router which I'm trying to set up as a wireless access point.
I purchased it some time ago and flashed the firmware to version 8.00.2. I see there
is a newer firmware version available, and I'm going to try flashing that to see if it
helps, but wanted to ask here first.
The problem is that when I connect to the router using a web browser, I can see
the administration pages, and even change most settings, but some settings
just snap back to their previous values.
For example, I go to Setup -> Advanced Routing, and change Operating Mode
from Gateway to Router. When I do, I see it changes to Router, then I see it
talking to the HTTP server, and then it changes back to Gateway.
This also happens in other areas, like trying to enable MAC address filtering -
it won't let me enable it, and the Security Mode setting (under Wireless -> Wireless
Security) - It won't let me select WPA2 Personal, among others.
Note that I've had this router for a while, but decided to change how it was configured
today, so I started by pressing and holding the reset button for >5sec to reset it to
factory defaults and went from there.
I'm assuming there must be some settings which are preventing these from taking,
but I can't imagine any setting which should prevent me from enabling the MAC
    address filtering.
Just in case this matters, I have the router connected to my in-home network using
one of the 4 Ethernet ports, and don't have anything plugged into the Internet port.
Also, I have turned off the DHCP server, and assigned a static IP address to the
router. This is the IP I'm using to connect to the router's administrative pages via
a browser running on one of the other PCs on my in-home network.
The wireless access point is working, in that I can connect to my in-home network
    with my wireless client (laptop).
Can anyone help me understand what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks,

Thanks, Yes, I did reset the router. Just to clarify:
    - I was having the problem where making changes to some settings would cause the settings to revert back to the original settings. In fact, the settings would switch back before I would have a chance to click on the Save Settings button. Clicking on the button after the settings changed back, of course, saved the original setting. For example, I would click on a drop-down control to change a setting, see the browser communicate with the HTTP server, then the drop-down would just snap back to the original value. It wouldn't allow me to change it to a different value.
    - I reset the router, including holding the reset button for >5 seconds to force a full-reset. This didn't help.
    - I attempted to update the firmware with the latest version for my router (yes, I double-checked that I had the correct version for my router/version). This failed with a strange message and required that I do another reset of the router.
It was after this failed attempt at the update that the problem went away. Now, I am able to change these particular settings and the changes stick.
At this point, I updated the firmware to the latest version and it worked. After this, I am still able to make all the necessary setting changes and the router is performing as I need.
    Thanks for all the help,

  • Is it possible to change firmware?

    Hi,
I want to buy a router.
Since I'm a happy Apple user, I think Airport Extreme would be a nice option for me.
There're some Linux-based router firmwares (Tomato, OpenWRT, FreeWRT,...) that supposedly transform a regular router into a "super router".
I've look into the features offered by the linux firmware and some of them caught my eye, for instance:
+ running rsync between an USB disk attached disk and a remote server
+ downloading through FTP, HTTP or Torrent to an USB attached disk
    + ...
These features would allow me to run some tasks without having my Macbook turned on all the time, very useful.
My questions are: is the Airport Extreme capable of running services like rsync as a standalone machine? If not, would I be capable of changing the firmware of AEBS to a linux-based one?
    Thank you.

    Hi again!
    First and most important check
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4577224
to see whether your device isn't really meant to be for the 3.1.2 version. The product code is on the back label below the battery. Have you done that?
If this site says you should have 4.0736.3.1.2 then your phone might have been debranded via changing the product code and that's a problem. In case the previous update has been made in authorised Nokia care service, then you can still go and claim your rights to fix the device.
Have in mind, though, that there's a chance that the phone has been debranded by changing the product code. This means that the product code when read from the phone's software will be different from the back printed label. That's a problem, too.
Check with the device and post the feedback here...

  • WRT54G v6 problems with new firmware

I performed the mandatory firmware update and soon began having problems such as DNS errors when trying to access web pages and no IP address assigned to secured wireless connections using DHCP.  I reinstalled the earlier version and all of my problems vanished.
I tried reinstalling the new firmware several times with the same results each time.  I ran with a backup D-Link DI-524 until I came up with the idea of rolling back the firmware.
    Has anybody else experienced this??

    Hello belbeebala
You should be able to find older versions at the Linksys ftp site below.
Just be sure to get the correct one.
For example, if you have the WRT54G v6, you'll want to be sure you find one that looks something like this:
    wrt54gv5_v6_fw_1.00.9_US_code.zip
That version can be found down near the bottom of the link, and is just an example of the 1.00.9 Firmware made specifically for the WRT54G v5 and v6....look very carefully for the one you want/need.
    Good luck.

  • WRT54G Ver 2.0 - No firmware download available

    Hi all,
I was able to find all versions of firmware for my router's model number (WRT54G Ver 1.0 to 8.2), except for Ver. 2.0, which I have.
    Any advice welcome.

Well the firmware version that you are looking for WRT54G v2 can be downloaded from the linksys/Cisco website or from the following link: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT54G . Since the firmware version from WRT54G v1 till WRT54G v4 are same so you can download the firmware for any version between v1 to v4.

  • WRT54GS V4 has suddenly changed it's network name

I've had this router working for roughly 2 years now, and several weeks ago it started to stop logging in automatically. Today, it completely dissapeared off the available wireless list. I've recycled the power several times, and now it's back with a totally new SSID. It is the only available network. on the list. One of the times that I powered off / on, the Cisco light blinked at a very fast rate with a rather bright white light. When I checked for available networks, it showed up as an unsecured network for several minutes before the light changed to it's normal color. The WLAN light is green, and I'm sending this through the router with a cable. The DMZ light is off. The power light is on.
When I run the Net Set Utility, I get a message that the router can not connect to the internet, which is wrong, since I obviously could send you this message.
    What's up with the router?
    Thanks,
    Steve
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

As you have used this router for more than 2 years or so you should upgrade the router's firmware...Download the Firmware here
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: -

Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...
Then, unplug the power cable while holding down the reset button for another 30 Seconds...
Plug the power cable back in, and keep holding down the reset button for another 30 Seconds...
Release the reset button...Now re-configure your router...
