2 Zen Micro Play

Is it ok to copy the same files we have for the st Zen Micro MP3 to the new Zen Micro we bought? We plan to have/share the same music for both MP3s. All music files will be coming from the same computer. Will it cause any damage to the music files we already have on the coputer once we start copying the files?
Thanks.
Edwin

No damage will come to your music or your players, as long as your cables and USB ports are in good condition. As long as they are not licensed, everything should work right away. It's nice to see someone who actually has legal music and is worried about content licenses every once in a while.

  • ZEN Micro - Playing MP3 Probl

    Hi ZEN Micro Fans
have a problem I need help for: MP3 music to play on my Zen works in 99% fine - sound is good and now problems. However, some other mp3 files (around 6MB big) with talking (speeches) are played in "slow motion" --> sound is good, but as I said, just sounds like if you had a vinil disk on a player and manually slowing down the disk.
Does anybody have an idea what the nature of my problem could be?
By the way, the same file played on my pc's mp3 player works just fine. I have re copied the same file to my ZEN again and again --> no change, the same behaviour.
    Many thanks
    Urs

They are probably encoded at kHz, which the Micro (nor any other Creative player) can play.
You'll need to re-encode them to 22 or 44kHz. Try something like dbPowerAMP.

  • Zen Micro play delay quest

I received my Zen Micro and I found there to be a time delay between when the unit is turned on and showing the last track where I last left off to when that track can be played. In other words, when I turn on the unit and get to the screen with the info of the last track & time where I left off, the play/pause button does not function till about 0 seconds later to play that track (even though all the other buttons work, eg: volume, menu, next/previous track). Just wondering whether this play delay is normal.
Thanks, I appreciate any response!Message Edited by Montauke on 0--2005 04:20 AM

Rahul: If it's rebuilding the library then why would other buttons function? Also corrupted files are unlikely to slow things down. Typically they just fail to work, or cause problems during actual playback.
In reply to the original post I suspect that it's perhaps just the way it works, it might take some time to seek to the right position in the file. I also suspect it's something that needs some optimisation. Out of interest, how many files do you have in the queue?

  • Zen micro play for sure firmware and win

I have a zen micro and want to download audio files from audible.com and i tunes, but i need the play for sure firmware installed to be able to play the files. The problem i have is that to upgrade to that firmware i need to be running win xp, but my pc is running win 2k. Once my zen micros firmware?has been upgraded i can download the creative legacy os software to allow me to put my files on the ZM, it is the upgrade that is causing me problems. Is there any way around this or have i got to do the upgrade on a pc running win xp?thanks in advance?simes

    Ok, first things first:
Because of Apple's marketing games iTunes WILL NEVER sync with ANY DAP other than iPods so no luck there.
Furthermore, check if the Micro has Audible support and if so, make sure it ONLY has support with the v2.xx.xx firmwares.
If and only if it does then proceed with the update.
HERE and HERE are links to a most comprehensi've post about how to make MTP devices work in pre-XP windows systems.
I think that the best thing you could do is enable the MTP support on your Win2K system BEFORE trying the update. In that case it will probably work fine.
    Hope that helps some.
    Cheers!

  • Zen Micro: "play count" weird work

    hello everybody!
I was wondering why some of the songs, rarely heard by me, havethe same number of "play count" that the often heard ones. I've checked it by loading an album and before playing it, I Iooked upthe "play count" of the second song in the list. Then I started to play the firstsong in the album. While the song was playing I checked both "playcounts". In the first song (currently played) Zen Micro correctly addeda next number to the counter, but surprisingly the second song(not played yet) had it the same - an increased counter!
I come to a conclusion that Zen Micro increases the "play count" in thenext song even though it's not currently playing. I noticed thatwhen preceding song is quite large, ZM doesn't increase a "play count"in a next song (while the preceding song is playing). I think it'sconnected with a size of the buffer and faulty working play countsystem.
I've hit upon an idea and I loaded one very short song (5sec). I set the"Repeat Track" mode and played this song. After a few timessong had played I stopped it and checked our "play count". I wasshocked, the counter had enormous number (something over 00)!
Have you got the same problem? Is there any solution to that?
I use 5Gb Zen Micro with ..0 firmware.

    yes ... I know that, it's obvious, but ... did I write "I want" or "I expect"?!
no, I wrote "I count on", I think it doesn't sound like a reply is due to me ...

thank you for the information but I used this Support and my senses of

I've definitely seen mention of play count not being correct before. If this is a bug it needs to be logged with support directly as well. I can't stress enough how important it is for everyone with a bug to log it directly with support, as often the number of support cases prejudice how likely a bug is to get attention.

  • Zen Micro plays slowly the speec

Hallo, I owned a new Zen Micro and I'm very happy. The songs are very well reproduced.
But I found a very strange problem: when I charged on the Zen mp3 files containing a speech, then the Zen reproduces them slowly, instead of in a normal velocity. The same files on my PC sound normally.
Has anyone had the some problem? Maybe do I something wrong when I charged the files on the Zen? Or is there a parameter that I must activate that I don't know?
    Please help me!

Khz!! The Zen doesn't support Khz and more?
And what can I do? I do need to listen those file with the Zen!!
Can I transform those files with some software?

how many of u have gone through more than player? how many? i've goen through 2 and im liekly to get a 3rd. (im not paying for it, getting a new one for free from CC).
I love the player, its just that it breaks too easy. time to look elsewhere cuz i know my 3rd is gonna break.

the headphone jack got sketchy on my first one and would cut out in one or both ears when i wold listen to it. Luckily i had an extended warranty and just got a new one.
I'm on my second now and I think the touchpad might be not responding... It seems I have to almost jab the thing just to click on anything.

  • HELP my Zen Micro isn't recognised by my compute

My zen micro plays fine but I cannot connect it to my computer. IT FREEZES!! So I can't add new songs on it. What can I do? I'm afraid to format since I still might not be able to connect it to my computer. And then all I will be left with is a piece of plastic that cost me close to 300$.
    Thanks

    Accommodations,
You need to download and install the respecti've plugin file too before the Organizer can detect the player. First determine the firmware version of your current Zen Micro player. If it's version .xx.xx, you need to get those Zen/Nomad Jukebox Plugin. If it's version 2.xx.xx, then get the PlaysForSure Devices Plugin file.

  • Zen Micro shutting down on its

No biggie but my Zen Micro plays 3 or 4 songs then shuts down on its own. The battery is always fully charged and the interface is locked by sliding the top button over until the "lock" icon appears on the screen. Am I doing somethig wrong or is my player defecti've. Im using it while working out but there isnt alot of bouncing around going on. At least not enough to make the hard dri've shut down or anything. Thanks in advance
    Sam

Thank you for the quick reply. Well both of those things were enabled. The sleep timer was set to 5minutes which is just about right. Ive disabled those and its been playing for about 20 minutes now with no shutdown. Now the player is just sitting there not moving. I will have to do a workout test with it to see if the problem is definitely cured. Thanks for the help as it looks good so far.

  • Zen Micro Track Numbe

I?ve had a quick search through the archi'ves on this found similar stuff but not this one.
Ok I have my albums in the player using the Zen Explorer. My problem is all the track numbers are 0.
I don?t want to go to each on and type numbers because I am right lazy! So can you somehow select all the
Track numbers and get the program to assign a track number?
With them being all zero or a mixture of 0 ? - 5 etc does this affect the way the zen micro plays them back?
TaMessage Edited by RedArmy on 03-24-2005 :38 AM

Most tagging programs will do this for you. I use MP3 Library, where you select the tracks and assuming they're in order you just select the automatic option, and save all, then it autonumbers.
The Micro will use the track number field to play in order.

  • Zen Micro ear p

My Zen Micro plays great and the sound quality is great but the socket in the case for the ear phones is loose and the sound cuts in and out and stays out most of the time. I have tried several different headsets and all do the same thing. Based on this I believe the socket needs to be replaced. Where can I find a repair shop as th eunit is out of waranty?

    Hi Pezza,
You didn't mention which firmware you have on the player, check that first.
If it's version .x - get these files from our Downloads page, and install them in the same order as listed:
Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03 - JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US__30_03.EXE
    Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 - CMS_PCAPP_LB_3_30_2.exe
Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource - CMS_PJB3_PCApp_LB_2_00_20.exe
If the firmware is version 2.x, then you can get the second file from that list (MediaSource), and get this plugin:
Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) - CMS_PCMTP_LB__00_8.exe
And Windows Media Player 0 from Microsoft's site.
You can get all the blue updates from our Downloads page, just select the Zen Micro in the list and it will show you all the files that are available.

  • Play mp3s directly from Zen Micro on the

    Hello everybody,
i just bought me a subnotebook with a small harddri've. So installed the Zen Micro software and my idea was that i simply hook the player up with USB and play the mp3s on the PC directly from the Player. So i don't have to copy them on my notebook harddisk.
Well, that was the idea, but when i hook the player up on USB, everything is ok and i see the player in the MediaSource Organizer. But when I click on my player and want to play a song it's played on my Zen Micro and not on my PC.
    How can I fix this?
Would be very pleased if somebody can help me.
    Greetings from Germany
    dr.dentz

    Great ...
Is there no workaround or can I use a other tool or chance someting in the registry? My notebook only supports USB and i don't want to buy a USB2.0 PCMCIA card.
    edit:
Idea: Is it possible to buy a USB 2.0 Hub and connect it to my USB port? Well the connection speed would be the slower one, but maybe i could trick the player and software. Or will the software or player notice it that in the USB"chain" is one apparat with supports only USBMessage Edited by drdentz on 0-8-2006 03:6 PM

  • Zen Micro Freezing While Play

My Zen Micro is my second MP3 player. My first one was a 2.5 GB Rio Nitrus. It was everything I needed it to be until it started acting funny. It froze up a few times while playing. Then I went on vacation and a week later when I got back and tried to use it, it froze again only this time it wouldn't restart correctly. I'm worried that I might be coming into a similar problem with my Zen Micro. It has never frozen until today. I hadn't used it in a week, similar to what happened when my Nitrus went on me. It paused for about 20 seconds when I was running on the treadmill, and then later, it completely froze. The only thing I could do to reset it was take the battery out of the back. It appears to be fine now but it has me worried. Is there anyone who owns a Zen and experienced similar problems and should this be something I worry about? It especially ticked me off today because I just spent $20 last night for a new holster and belt clip for it. Anyone have any input?Message Edited by diesel6304 on 0-06-2006 08:29 PM

It might be because you were running on the treadmill and you experienced "head crash", where the heads reading the HDD inside your Micro hit the HDD itself. Best to not do that. I use it on the treadmill, but I only powerwalk on the treadmill......
Oh yeah, in addition, it's normal every now and then for it to freeze (okay, not normal normal, but unless it's doing it regularly, it's not really that much to worry about). I would suggest running a disc cleanup from the recovery mode.Message Edited by RMskater on 0-06-2006 0:53 PM

  • Trouble playing/pausing with Zen Micro touch

I am having a fairly peculiar (and frustating) issue with my new Zen Micro's touchpad. For me, the Play "button" (area) works only sporatically. Here's the symptoms: I can reliably press the Play/Pause button with my thumb, but I can't reliably press play with the tip of my finger. I NEED to be able to do this since I set the player on my desk at work and will need to quickly hit the Pause button if something comes up (read: if I actually have to work).
I have the latest firmware, so that isn't a solution for me and I have tried playing with different sensitivity settings. After playing around quite a bit, I have determined that the button requires something wide pressing down on it to work. The narrow tip of my finger doesn't work, but the (wider) side of my thumb or even 2 finger tips work great.
Has anyone experienced something similar to this? Is my player functioning normally? Any help is much appreciated.

i have the same problem. back, forward and volume control works fine. sometime much too good
but play, back and menu is only reacting sometimes for me.
and thats the second player i have. had the same prob with the first and got a new one from the vendor.
someone here could help out a little plz? can you all use the play button with the tip of your finger ?Message Edited by washi on 02-23-2005 0:47 AM

  • Zen micro - takes so long to play the next s

    Hello,
I just got a Zen Micro and I am thinking of returning it tomorrow because it takes so long to play one song, then skip to another. I press forward song or backward, or I jump to another album and press to play another song and sometimes I have to wait up to 0 seconds until the next songs starts to play - very annoying. Often I wait at last 5 seconds. Do you experience this? Can anything be done? This is not acceptable.
    Thanks, Holden

I am the one who started this thread and have some information about why I was experiencing this problem.
A friend of mine who turned me on to the Zen Micro never experienced the problem I was experiencing - waiting too long to skip from one song to another. He suggested that my Micro might be defecti've. So I returned it and got another one.
I returned it, went home and updated the firmware and again loaded it with tons of songs using Napster-to-go. Nothing changed - it still would sometimes take several seconds to jump from one song to another (****it would play straight through play lists and albums without a hitch though).
I decided to keep the Micro because it is such a cool device and appeals to me much more than the iPod.
Glad I did. Last night I started ripping my CD collection and put it on to the Micro. I listened to some of the songs and noticed I could jump around from track to track without any delay.
I only experience the delay using the Napster-to-go service. I guess there's some small piece of code in the PlaysForSure update that checks to see if the tracks are legal or not. That's my guess.
The Micro is amazing - sounds amazing, looks amazing, the navigation is amazing. And it works with Napster-to-go perfectly (well except for the short delay that I've described).
Thanks to everyone for your comments.
