20" ACD with XP

OK, so I know much has been asked about ADC compatibility with XP, but despite reading all of the posts I could find on it, still have not been able to get my ADC to work with my PC. I'm running XP home and have an ATI Radeon 9600 with 256MB RAM and a DVI port. But regardless of using WinACD or anything else, I can't get it to work. First off, I can't get the ATI resolution set any higher than 1280 x 1024 (I suspect because my current monitor, a Dell, doesn't support that resolution), and then when I plug in the ACD, I can't get it to show anything in order to change it to native ACD resolution. So what can I do? I do get something on the screen (some flickering with big grey panels on the screen), but not clearly enough to use or see anything of significance. Any help would be appreciated!

Many users have had good luck with the 9600/XP/20"ACD configuration. Are you sure you have the right video card driver? Are there any firmware updates for the card?

  • Dual 20" ACD with Geforce 6600

Hi, is anyone here using dual 20" ACDs with the 6600? I have the stock 6600 in my dual-core 2.3. I read in another thread that performance wasn't great, but that was in relation to Aperture.
What's performance like otherwise? I'm thinking in terms of Final Cut and After Effects, applications that aren't GPU-intensive, but experience with similar would be useful.
    Thanks!

The main issue with driving two displays is that it divides the video RAM between the displays. So, your 128MB card acts like two 64MB cards. This isn't likely an issue unless you're playing games or doing something that needs to load textures onto the video card (e.g., Aperture, Motion).
There shouldn't be a noticeble difference in Final Cut since, as you know, it isn't currently GPU accelerated. After Effects, on the other hand, can use the GPU to accelerate previews, depending on the version of AE that you have.

  • Call Manager Express B-ACD with Call Manager 5 or 6

Can I use the Call Manager Express B-ACD with Call Manager 5 or 6, because there is no autoattendant in CCM 5 or CCM 6

    Hi Zohaib,
    With CCM (all versions), they do ship with a "stripped down" version of IPCC/CRA which is where the actual AA is built. But this is not really an "on box" solution :( You will need a seperate MCS box to install IPCC on and then integrate with CCM via jtapi. Here is a clip and link for CCM 5.x and a link for 6.x which is a rather large PDF which I am having trouble downloading today;
    Cisco CallManager AutoAttendant
Cisco CallManager AutoAttendant, a simple automated attendant, allows callers to locate people in your organization without talking to a receptionist. You can customize the prompts that are played for the caller, but you cannot customize how the software interacts with the customer.
Cisco CallManager AutoAttendant comes bundled with Cisco CallManager on the Cisco CallManager 5 agent IPCC Express bundle.

  • 23" ACD with pink in upper right quarter of screen, live with it?

I've got a week 28 ACD that arrived as a portion of my not-yet-shipping Mac Pro order. From what I understand this is the new spec version (it certainly is very bright with vivid colors).
I've been using it for about a week and can't shake the notion that towards the upper right quarter of the screen the color is slightly more pink/magenta than the rest of the display. Frankly, this is only noticeable in gray tones—reds, greens, and blues look fantastic no matter what. Unfortunately there is lots of gray in OS X and in general the work I do tends to include gray from time to time of course!
I've used both the Apple Display Calibrator and SuperCal. The Apple one helped alleviate the very pink cast the entire screen had with the default color profile, but I found that SuperCal produced much better results giving me neutral grays across the entire screen... almost. The pink quarter (and I swear almost the whole upper half, but that might be my imagination?!??) of the screen remains EVER SO SLIGHTLY different looking.
I also have backlight bleeding that I'm prepared to live with as it's barely noticeable most of the time. I don't have any image persistence, dead pixels, etc. Is it worth either the long drive to the Apple Store or the high cost of shipping it back for a replacement? Should I not demand perfection? The problem is risking getting a WORSE replacement at a troublesome expenditure of time and money to me.
I also want to hear if anyone has the same barely-noticeable-pink-in-only-a-portion-of-the-screen issue.
    PowerBook G4 15"/800MHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   23" Cinema HD Display

Sure I have it too ... When I bough my first 23 it was pinkish overall and I finally messed about with the calibrating long enough to accept the result and live with it ... I just bought my second one and now have a pink to green gradient ... can't get rid of it ... Reading the forum I also seem to have backlight leakage and the translucency problem ... Haven't noticed a dead pixel yet ... if that one happens ... there will be a dead salesman at the store ... It's a pitty ... loyalty to Apple only goes a certain way ... thinking of buying Sony LCD's instead ... but then I read they are the same ... Maybe I just have to live with it ... and dream about the paradise holiday I will make with the profits of my edit on these not perfect displays ...

  • Dual 27" ACDs with MacPro

I am trying to set up 2 new 27" Apple Cinema Displays with an older MacPro. I have the default video card with 2 DVI-D Dual link outs ( female ). The ACDs have only the Apple Mini Display ( male ) for connection. For the life of me I can't find the proper DVI-d to Mini Display adaptor - everything I find is female.
Can you kind folks point me in the right direction ?

    Yes, 2720QM.
I have to admit just to get the WQXGA res working with discrete-only graphics requires an arcane series of steps to reboot, connect cord, power on monitor in a specific order or not only does it not work, it permanently does not work until I cold shutdown the laptop/monitor.
    As per discussion here http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T520-and-WQXGA-2650x1600-resolution-with-Ac...
Possibly getting WQXGA going in integrated/optimus mode requires an even more occult ritual which I haven't figured out yet.

  • ACD with PC

    hello,
i want to buy a new ACD 30" for my new PC workstation.
my graphics card is nVidia 8800GTS 640MB. maybe in the future i'll add another one but not at the moment.
now i would like to connect the 30" to my PC.
i also want to run another monitor with it as a dual monitor(LG CRT 19").
is it possible? and will it run at full res with this graphics card?
    and another thing,
i've heard some trobeling things regarding the 30" esspesially with a PC,
first about the speed, does it run HD and simpler video strems fast enough?
of cours i'm not talking about games.
and second, will i be able to control the monitor sepc from my PC, like brightness and such?
i'm really looking for help, cause at the moment i'll figure everything out i'm getting a monitor.
    tnx alot,
    S.

    Tristam,
I have an Apple 20-inch LCD monitor connected to my Athlon Windows machine. It works great. My video card is an ATI Radeon 9600 (I paid $80 USD for it).
I have also connected my 23-inch Apple LCD to the same WIndows box and it also works.
I think Apple makes beautiful and functional displays.

  • ACD with Macbook options

Hello! I just got the 20 inch ACD for my newish Macbook (most recent previous model). I found out (via another post on this forum) how to use only the ACD and turn off the Macbook screen, and also fooled around a bit with the mirroring and using the ACD as an extended display. I have some questions about some of these options:
    1. Mirroring: limits my ACD to the much lower resolution of the Macbook and it looks awful. Is there any way to mirror the displays but increase the ACD resolution to its maximum? Nothing I tried worked.
    2. Extended display: Is there a way to set the ACD as the main display? I would really like to do this! I can get the dock to move over to the ACD, but all the menus stay on the Macbook no matter what I have tried. Ideally, I would like all the menus to be on the ACD so I could just use the Macbook as secondary real estate.
    Thanks!

Mirroring matches the pixels of the two displays, so it can't show more pixels than the lowest resolution display.

In the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference, drag the menu bar from the picture of the MacBook display to the picture of the external display. (Aim carefully, so you get just the menu bar, not the entire display.)

  • ACD with Windows XP

in order to get windows to use the ACD (20 inch model) do you have to have a video card with DVI or will a vga output with VGA to DVI connector work? If a vga to dvi connector work, how do you have to have the monitor setup (screen size by refresh rate).
I have bought a 20' model for my daughter to use with her PC, prior to getting the Macbook and she goes off to college.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
You must connect the ACD to a DVI port. The ACD has no VGA support, it is digital only.

  • Possible to register ACD with AppleCare after a Power Mac?

I already own a Power Mac (dual 2.0) that has been registered with AppleCare. There are about 800 days remaining in the warranty.
I have now decided that I want to buy a new 23" Apple Cinema Display from the Apple Store. Is there a way I can still register the display with the same AppleCare plan on my Power Mac? Or do they need to be registered at the same time?
I would hate to have to buy a SECOND AppleCare plan to get my display covered.
Thanks for your help and input!

I had a similar dilemma. I contacted AppleCare and they stated that they would not offer an extended AppleCare warranty for a monitor purchased without a CPU.
Another option I would suggest is to consider purchasing the ACD from an Apple authorized outlet (e.g., Fry's, CompUSA, etc.), because, they offer their own extended warranties for Apple Hardware. I found that CompUSA offered better coverage (e.g., Single Pixel Failure => replace ACD) at a lower price for the same time frame. Call around and get some quotes and warranty details.
    Good luck.

  • 23" ACD with light dot that won't turn off

In the upper left corner (about 1 cm down and right of the blue apple) there is a light dot. It looks like an LED light that is shining through the screen from behind. This isn't a stuck pixel. When I run PiXel Check, the dot shows on red, green, blue, and white displays but not the black display. Putting the display to sleep doesn't help. And even turning off the computer does no good.
Any clues to what the problem may be and possible solutions? Love the ACD otherwise. Thanks!

    Hi Clyde,
I'm relieved to see someone with the same problem as me, in my case I have a small light spot on the bottom right hand of the screen. It almost looks as though my power light has started wandering on my screen, but that isn't the case. To my suprise, the light also disappeared on a black background! Did you find any solution to this problem? I'm considering getting it replaced (I'm pretty sure it's still in the 1-year warranty), considering its my monitor for at work... It's not a distraction yet, but it might be better to tackle the problem on time?

  • Replace 20" ACD with Dell 24 or add Dell 20WFP?

    in a dilemna
since the dell LCD are just as good as the ACD from what people say here.... i'm debating selling my 20 ACD and replacing it with a Dell 24", or should i just add a 2nd display being the Dell 2007WFP?
I figure i could get maybe $550 for my ACD so for $200 more i get the Dell 24
or $350 more to add the Dell 20

    Hello--
You won’t be disappointed with the Dell 24 inch LCD. I bought one about six months ago and I love it! You’ll especially like the built-in media card readers.
I would only keep the ACD if you have a use for it, have a second computer, or plan to give it to someone. Assuming you have a newer one, they sell for $500 to $575 on eBay. And the Dell...right now they’re selling for $703.20 on the Dell site.

Wow! I paid $799 for mine (and it’s the previous model!) Good luck and enjoy.

  • Can i use the 30" acd with newest 2.4 mac mini

hey got my mac mini a month ago and i just picked up a 30" apple cinema display. can i get the max resolution out of it? right now i have it connected through a dvi to hdmi adapter and its giving me 1280x800 res

does this mean i need to buy the $100 adapter from apple
You need to buy that or a similar adapter from a different company. Single-link DVI adapters can't drive a 30-inch display at a resolution above 1280 by 800.

  • Traditional ACD Integration with UCCE without Parent/Child model

    Hi
I want to integrate a existing TDM ACD with UCCE 10. Could someone guide me on the required hardware, software on Cisco as well as on the TDM ACD side for this to work. Is parent/child architecture a mandate for this to work
P.S: Traditional ACD and Cisco UCCE are already installed and working
    Regards
    Prakash

    Hi,
    well, brave move :-)
Hi, the SRND explains the optional deployment models. Also check the compatibilty matrix.
Looks like the TDM switch must already have some kind of IP connectivity.

  • Pink Screen with 17" ADC and DVI converter

This issue could be with the Apple ADC to DVI convertor box or cable, but I can't confirm if it is that or my monitor. I am using a 17" clear ACD with a mac mini, and I started to get intermittant bright pink screens, which has progressed into pink all the time, and a horizontally squashed screen that shows the desktop twice (one on top of the other, both squashed).
I am pretty sure that the cable coming out of the convertor box is the culprit, since I was able to get it working normally by jiggling the cable, and it started acting up when I was plugging and unplugging some USB devices. Now it won't work properly at all, and I do not have an old computer to plug the monitor in directly to check with. I did plug the monitor and convertor into a G5 PowerMac, and had the same result. When I plugged in a newer 20" Apple aluminum display into the Mini, it worked fine.
The trouble is that all of the cables on the monitor and convertors are built in and not easily replaced.
    Any suggestions?

I bought a new ADC/DVI converter ($99) and that fixed it. I am almost positive it was only the cable.
My question is: why can't Apple PLEASE make these convertor boxes AND their monitors with removable/replaceable cables?
I ended up spending 10 times what I should have to fix the issue. it should have never broken in the first place, since it rarely even ever got touched, and had never been disconnected.
Just for grins, after I bought the new converter, I tried to open the old one to see if I could remove the cable. I could not even get the box open without destroying it.
My 20" Cinema Display has a dead bug inside it, and it is also impossible to open up without destroying it, just to clean it.
I just have to express my displeasure at Apple making their products non-servicable. What a waste.
