20'' Aluminum Cinema Display Question

Hello... I have the short long short blinking, i'm running a 65watt power adapter with my 20'' aluminum screen.  It was just working a month ago, any idea what happened?

If it's your only display, you don't need any adapter. The Mac Pro graphics card has a DVI port.

  • 20" Aluminum Cinema Display Screws?

    Hello. I'm looking for two of the allen wrench screws that attach the 20" Aluminum Cinema Display Monitor to the stand. I just ordered a replacement stand but the screws were not included! Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    An aluminum 20" ACD will have a DVI input with a tethered cable. If you are sure the Mac Pro has a full-sized DVI output, then it should all be good. No adapter needed.

  • 27" cinema display question

    Hi,
    I just got my 27" cinema display and let me tell you that it's absolutely fantastic.
    Using it for everyday applications like safari, mail...can't be more fun but it's when you start Final Cut Pro, motion or other pro applications like photoshop that the real fun begins. That huge real estate make any task using these pro apps much much faster.
    my question now is how or what would be the best way to disconnect my display. don't find any info on the manual! can I just disconnect it from my MBP while everything is on or should I turn my MB off?
    what I'm doing now is just unplugging the screen while everything on but I don't know if that could damage the screen or the MB's VGA!

    can I just disconnect it from my MBP while everything is on
    Yes. The Mini DisplayPort is hot-swappable.

  • Please Help! 20" Cinema Display question

    hi all,
    hopefully someone can help me out with this...
    i desperately need the dimensions for a 20" cinema display WITHOUT the stand... the company i work for is doing a small AV install and we're looking at using these screens, so i need the measurements to see if they'll fit...
    i can't find anything on the interwebs so i thought i'd ask here...
    thanks

    Welcome to Discussions, monsterchild.
    Here is what Apple says:
    Size and weight
    20-inch Apple Cinema Display
    * Height: 15.9 inches (40.4 cm)
    * Width: 18.5 inches (47.1 cm)
    * Depth: 6.8 inches (17.4 cm)
    * Weight: 14.5 pounds (6.6 kg)
    but ours measures about 16.1 inches high for some reason.
    The height of the frame of ours is just barely over 12 inches as best I can measure with a yardstick, so your dimensions would be about 12 by 18.5 inches.

  • MacBook and Cinema Display Question

    I have a MacBook and need to know if it will work with a 30 inch Cinema Display.  I think it will, but need to check since I have one that can be sent to me. The Thunderbolt displays do not work with the MacBook, which I did not realize until I tried it.  My MacBook is about 3 years old.
    Any answers are appreciated.  Thank you so much!

    I should clarify that my MacBook is a white MacBook, was probably new in 2009, and worked perfectly fine with a 24 inch Cinema Display.  That one died and I can either spend $600 on getting it repaired, buy a refurbished one, or use a 30" one that a friend has and is no longer needing it.  It's good to have friends, I just want to make sure it will work before they send it.

  • I'm trying to connect my 23" Cinema display to my iMac, need help with connector cable.

    I'm trying to connect my 23" Cinema Display monitor to my iMac. The adaptor cable I ordered came with a female, I need a male adaptor. Any ideas where I might find one? I purchased the BlueRigger Mini Displayport Male to DVI Female Adapter Cable.

    I have the 23" aluminum Cinema Display. I just can't seem to find the right adaptor for the monitor femal plug on the backside. I've tried a Bluerigger but it was a female adaptor. I believe I need a male.

  • Problem connecting a 24" Cinema Display to an Imac 27"

    My friend has an Imac 27 "with a graphics card AMD HD 6970M 1GB. She wanted to connect an external Cinema Display 24" (without thunderbolt serie). The external display has started to display black screen intermittently while making a strange noise. Before this screen, there was a aluminum  Cinema Display 20 " which never had any problem. The 24" Cinema Display was just before used as external screen for a Mac Book Pro 15" (main screen, no dual screen) without problem too.  Any idea? Is the card too weak for such a configuration?The iMac was purchased on October 15th on the refurb. The Os is Lion 10.7.2.

    If the computer doesn't have a Mini DIsplayPort or DisplayPort, not until September; click here for more information. If you mean the MagSafe connector, leave it unplugged; it's only for laptops.

  • 30-inch cinema display & Power Mac G4 Mirror Door

    Does anyone know if it's possible to set up a Power Mac G4 to run a 30-inch aluminum cinema display? I have a G4 running a 22" apple display (clear enclosure) and want to purchase another desktop to run the 30-inch display without spending a fortune. I had it running on a G5 (June 2004) M9457LL/A but that just died, (logic board failure).

    That monitor will work with a computer that has a DVI port, but you need this card to get a dual-link DVI port which is required to use it at its full capacity.

  • Horizontal line across 23" Cinema Display

    Hi
    I am using a friend's display, and it has an annoying horizontal 1 pixel line across the screen about 40% of the way down from the top. This is the 23" aluminum Cinema Display with the external power brick and DVI connector. The pixels appear to be about 50% gray, but the color changes a little (to a dark gray) depending on the surrounding image being displayed.
    Any thoughts about what might be causing this and if there might be an inexpensive fix? (FWIW, I know it is in the screen since it does the same thing w/ various laptops plugged in.)
    TIA
    A

    I had that happen on my 30" ACD. I believe it was caused by a power surge, but could've been just crappy manufacturing. Suffice to say I had display replaced (luckily it happened during the first 30 days).
    I hope you have AppleCare for your display so that it can get replaced/fixed.

  • Apple Aluminum Keyboard and 23" cinema Display and MacBook Pro??

    I have just purchased an Apple Aluminum Keyboard and have and MacBook Pro with and 23" cinema display, and if i try to connect the keyboard to my cinema display via USB the keyboard don't work.
    i have an Apple mighty mouse that works fine wen connected to the USB port on the display...
    why is it not working...

  • 24" LED Cinema Display Extension Cable Question

    Hi, I have a 24" LED Cinema Display. Unfortunately the display's cable is too short which means I have to have the cable in front of the desk in order to reach my Mac Pro. I don't like having it in front of the desk as it's an eyesore.
    I've had it like this since I purchased the display in March 2009. I was thinking of purchasing an extension cable for my Display so I can finally put the displays cable behind the desk.
    I have some questions, Are there any issues with having an extension cable attached to the 24" LED Cinema Display? Is there a loss in picture quality with an extension cable? What extension cables do you guys recommend?
    Any help is greatly appreciate

  • Cinema Display 23 aluminum and Windows 7 64

    I have an Apple Cinema Display on an Alienware Auora i7 980x running Windows 7 64. I have an nVidia Quadro 4000. In the nVidia Control panel the monitor shows, but not in device manager. One of my monitors shows up in Device Manager, but not in the nVidia control panel. I tried installing the WinACD version 0.4.6 but get the mesage that the "installation was interupted"
    I have two Dell monitors that show up in Device Manager, but one is missing from the nVidia control panel. Although the Apple Cinema Display does show up in the nVidia Control Panel, it is not sown in Device Manager
    I have contacted nVidia, but was hoping to find out if there is a driver for the Apple Cinema Display.
    Any ideas?

    Hello again,
    After speaking to an Apple Genius, it seems the solution was to update the firmware for the Cinema Display. Since I have done this, the monitor appears to behave better.

  • Aluminum 23" vs. translucent 23" Cinema Display

    Is there any difference, other than cosmetics between the current cinema displays with the metal casing and the previous versions with the translucent case? I was thinking of upgrading to a 23" monitor and just think the previous version is better looking.

    Agree, quality is better on older plastic one. I have the 20" and auditioned the new 20" and 23" and decided not to bother.
    Try and display a 1,2,3,4,5% tint on both and you will see the plastic goes almost down to 2% the new displays struggle around 4%... very bad if you ask me.
