20" Display compatible with my G5?

Hi,
I have a ppc G5 1.6ghz with 1 gig ram. Currently using a 15" Studio display. Will I be able to upgrade to a 20" Cinema display?
Thanks,
mhh

Thank you Malcolm. I can drive a car and add gas, but don't ask me anything about what goes on under the hood. :^)
I checked out the specs on the 20" display, but couldn't figure out if my G5 could handle the display.
I appreciate the help!

Is the thunderbolt display compatible with Dell laptop (Latitude 6430)?

Since the specs for the Dell laptop (Latitude 6430) do not list ThunderBolt as one of the supported bus structures that means it does not have a ThunderBolt port to connect the ThunderBolt display to. Hence is not compatible.

there should be no reason why it wouldn't be, as that's a feature of the OS, not the hardware.

  • Are there any displays compatible with 14" iBook G4???

I've been doing a lot of video editing etc. on my computer for a while now and school work is piling up. I'm planning on getting an iMac next summer but I would really like to be able to use my ibook as a desktop computer. From what I have read none of the displays that apple currently sells are compatible with ibooks because of the graphics card or something. I found out though that you can have a display connected and use both screens. But is there a way that you can have your computer running and closed with an external display to use the computer like on all the new macbooks? I don't need it to be a apple monitor or anything i just need to know if there is any solution..

as a guess, any LCD with VGA input supposed to work thru a little VGA adapter that comes with the iBook.
you could probably work with the display lowered if there is something (thin plastic etc) is placed between the base and the display, sleep is activated by the magnetic switch in the display and the magnet at the base
working with the display lowered could cause heat issues probably, maybe not a good idea

  • Is the 30" display compatible with late Macbook?

I have 3 apple laptops: MacBook Pro 2.4 (late 2007), a Macbook Air (early 2008) and a Macbook (early 2009). Are they all compatible with 30" apple cinema display? What's the best resolution Ican achieve with each one of the 3? Thanks so much.

Nope! Just the good old 30"...
The thing is that I went to a local apple shop and ask a guy to try and connect my new Macbook 2.4 (with the Mini Display/DVI adapter) to a 30" display, and the result was just terrible! I think the definition of the 30" was 800x600 or something!!! Just impossible....
The guy told me that would be the the best the new Macbook can do with the old 30" :-/, he "advised" me to buy the new 24" LED!...
    Do you believe this???
    Tks

  • Are Dell displays compatible with Mac?

I will buy a new monitor like the cinema 20. I have read reviews etc until my eyes watered and have come up with only one alternative, the Dell 2005FPW. I do want a 16/10 aspect ratio. They use the same LCD panel and seem pretty equivalent except more inputs and half the price. The reviews don't say PC only but the specs say platform PC. Some posts on this forum say that their Dell LCD is great. Which is right? Is the Dell 2005FPW compatible with my FW800 with OS 10.4?? You think Apple will drop their price? Thanks
    Bob

In general they are but the big problem is brightness; they are very bright, and unless you have a brightness slider in you displays window in system preferences I don't see a way of adequately controlling it without a profiler.
I have a Dell 1704fpv PVA 17 inch flat panel on a Digital Audio G4 with a Radeon 9000 card. On both DVI and a VGA adapter on the DVI port, the brightness control range varies from way too bright all the way up to blindingly too bright. I used a ColorVision Spyder2Pro in conjunction with the RGB sliders on the monitor to bring it under control. However it does not make for easy brightness adjustments.
If anyone knows of a better workaround I'd be very happy . . . such as a graphics driver that actually restores brightness control to Displays.
No such problem with the Apple monitors -- proper brightness control on the monitor, and usually a slider in the displays window and function key control of brightness. However, the Apple monitors have very few other controls; out of the box they look pretty good, but to make fine adjustments to color balance, once again you'd have to have the color profiling tool.

  • Titanium 400/500 displays compatible with Gigabit 550/667 models?

Hi. Just wanted to ask if anyone's sure re. compatibility of the first-generation Titanium 400 and 500 model displays with the second-gen Gigabit ethernet models? I've written in another post here re. a problem with my Gigabit 667 screen: 3 horizontal bands, each 1/3 of screen, with bottom third all white, while desktop shows up in top 2 bands. Weird.
I have a couple of Titaniums with broken logic boards, though displays and hinges seem ok. These are from G4/500 Titaniums.
I've found vague mentions of compatibility on the web, with some saying it "should" work; but does anyone have the "definitive" answer? It's a tough replacement job, so would like to be sure before tackling it.
    Many thanks.

Hi, you need to be careful if you need parts for a 'second' generation tibook as there are two versions of the 667MHz. The VGA and the DVI which can be determined by the monitor port in the back.
The 400/500/550/667 are interchangeable only with the VGA version and can be identified by the white/pink leads to the backlight. If you have white/grey these are the DVI version and will not work with VGA tibooks.
Doing the monitor swap can be a real pain, if you have forceps this will be useful for unplugging your backlight leads if you don't want to do a full strip down. If you go the 'lazy' route I would highly recommend you tape the end of your ribbon connector once you unplug it from your motherboard. If you don't you stand a good chance of cracking the plastic ribs that run between the wire leads. Also be super careful when pulling this wire out the back.

  • Is Apple 27in Cinema display compatible with NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 for Mac?

Can anyone tell me whether the new Apple 27inch Cinema display will work with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 for Mac? I will use this on a MacPro with 2.66GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon “Westmere” and CS5 (Adobe recommends the NVIDIA). It seems incredible that it doesn't for whatever reason.
    Thanks

You will need a dual-link DVI to Mini DisplayPort converter.

  • New Cinema Displays compatible with MBP 17 inch Core 2 Duo?

Hi, I want one of the new Cinema Displays to act as external monitor for my 4 year old Macbook Pro 17 inch Core 2 Duo. Is there a dongle adaptor yet that will connect the display's Mini DisplayPort with my computer's Dual Link DVI? Or am I SOL.?

A component such as this one can be used to connect that display to a DVI port.

  • Is an Apple Cinema Display (ca 2005) Compatible with Mac Mini?

I have a 2005 Power Mac Dual G5/2.3 I took off-line last year. It used an Apple Cinema Display 20" that has it's own power supply "brick" and a cord with the monitor connection, a USB connection, and a FireWire connection. Is this display compatible with the latest Mac Mini? Thank you for any advice you may have.

That's correct, the link perfectly describes the Apple 20" Cinema Display I have. With the new Mac Minis requiring an HDMI cable to link to a display, the HDMI to DVI (female) adapter looks like the one I need. I found this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Gino-Black-Female-Converter-Adapter/dp/B006Z8N60C/ref=sr_1 _18?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1371158207&sr=1-18&keywords=hdmi+to+dvi+adapter+ca ble
This adapter is an all-in-one plug with no cable linking the HDMI to the DVI ends. It looks like it might be too wide to plug in anything immediately adjacent to the HDMI socket on the Mac Mini due to the width of the adapter when the adapter is plugged in. However, I could get around this by purchasing an extension cable with HDMI male on one end and the HDMI female on the other if I had to.
However, one of the comments said that the DVI is video-only and that another cable is required for audio. Can I assume that plugging in either or both of the other connections (a USB and a FireWire) coming out of the 20" display will take care of audio?
That leads to another answer, but I'm confident that I'm almost there thanks to your help. Close enough to mark this as "solved". Thank you! Let me know if you have any further thoughts with regard to the audio though.

  • Error in Adobe Illustrator update to the new version 16.0.3 (compatible with retina display)

Hellow, so i have Adobe Illsutrator cs6 version 16.0.0. I was so excited to update this version to a retina display compatible one (16.0.3).
I downloaded he extension 24.2 Mb from the official adobe website, and when i tried to install the update, by the adobepatchinstaller file, the adobe application manager poped up and gave me this message....
i read several posts from people facing the same problem, so please if anyone knows how to fix this just tell us...we are so eager and excited to update to the retina adobe

fwiw I just did a fresh install of my OS (Windows 7 x64) and Apps including the CS6 Master Suite and have exactly the same issue and U44M1P7 error message . This is with the Illustrator16.0.3_x64 update which is the most recent for the PC version.
I downloaded the manual installer and it did not help. Illustrator reports that it is running v16.0.3 while the Application Manager still claims it still needs the update.
The Application Manager shortcut links to the app manager app which is PDapp.exe and checking its details shows that it's v7.7.7.233.
My next step will be to uninstall and then reinstall the Illustrator CS6 component of the CS6 Master Suite and reinstall.

  • Will more recent MacBook Pro 15' Display Assemblies be compatible with my mid 2009 MBP?

My question will be geared towards folks who have experience doing self repairs on their MacBook Pros but I do welcome all helpful input. It breaks my heart to say that my MacBook Pro was dropped and now has a broken LCD/LED screen with a dented Display Housing(Lid) but the Front glass Display is fine. It is currently acting as a desktop with an external monitor. I am looking to do some self repairs as the price they charge at the genius bar isn't worth it for the older model and I am comfortable enough to do the repairs myself. I've been doing some research and it is possible to get the pieces individually(Not through apple directly) but now it becomes a compatibility game. In short, I have a mid 2009 15' 2.53GHz macbook pro but I will post a link to my tech specs.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP544
My two options for self repair are either to
    A) Buy an entire Display Assembly which I can swap out with my broken one      OR
    B) Buy a new LCD/LED screen and Display housing
I am leaning towards option B because the cost to replace the LED display is much cheaper but I am having no luck finding a relatively cheap, non damaged 2009 15' Display Housing. Some online stores that do sell it go for ridiculously high which in the end would make option A cheaper. I don't actually need to replace the Display Housing for the computer to work but I can't stand to look at the dent so I'll be doing the replacement.
So back to my original question. When searching for parts or an entire Display Assembly, would more recent models such as 2010, 2011, 2012 or 2013 parts be compatible with mine? Or were all models created differently and must be replaced with same year/model parts?

Yes.  Any 2.5" 9.5 mm thick SATA HDD, SSHD or SSD will fit and be compatible with your MBP.
    Ciao.

  • Help! My display driver is no longer compatible with Adobe software!

Help!  I rely on Adobe CC and my iMac to earn my living. My display driver is no longer compatible with Adobe software! What should I do? (most affordably because I dont have enough money for even basic living expenses right now.) Detailed notes are below but in a nutshell, I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS display driver. Adobe no longer supports it and disables the software functions depending on the graphics hardware. It recommends I check the manufacturer's website for the latest software. I did but only found firmware update for a different type of display driver for my early 2008 iMac. What should I do??! Please help me solve this!

If you decide to use up to the minute applications, you will have to accept that the computer and operating system will eventually be incompatible with your chosen application as the features in the latest application rely on new hardware and operating systems to support them.
Your options are to either use a newer Mac or use a version of Photoshop that will run on your Mac.
