20-pinn to VGA cable

I can't seem to get my ipad to display on the projector when plugged into a projector via the apple vga connector cable. With my mac, I would use auto detect display, and when i plug the cable into my iphone it says that the accessory does not work with my phone (but acknowledging that it does read it). With my ipad nothing happens. I have tried multiple apps without any variance. I have scrolled through the types of inputs on the projector but nothing changes. It is a HD projector but that should not matter (Sony). Any help would be appreciated.

Slightly longer answer: You need an app that supports output to an external display. And keep in mind that some apps only do that in certain circumstances. Try the Photos app that comes with the iPad. When you start a slideshow you should see something on the external display (but only then).

  • Mini DVI to VGA cable doesn't send signal to the projector

I just received a mini DVI to VGA adapter cable today.
I connect mini DVI side of cable into my Macbook v. 4.1 and connect the other side into DGA cable, which connected to LCD projector.
When I connect the cable to my Macbook, the opened application streched out to a full screen (seems like computer detets the cable) but projector says 'no signal'.
Can any one tell me what is wrong it is?
    Thanks much
    Mike

    I'm still stucked.
By reading some articles, it says even using mini DVI adapter, the signal is still digital and if the projector doesn't accept digital signal then it's no use....
My projector is Epson EX3200 and it doesn't have any DVI or HDMI input.
Does this mean my projector doesn't accept a digital signal?
But, but, but if even uing mini DVI adapter cable it still doesn't conver to analog signal then why they call the cable a mini DVI to VGA cable???
Why should this world be so complecated.....

  • I bought a mini DVI to HDMI convertor and  a HDMI to VGA cable to connect my mac book pro to a tv but it doesn't work any one can help.\\\\\

i bought a mini DVI to HDMI convertor and  a HDMI to VGA cable to connect my mac book pro to a tv but it doesn't work any one can help.

I would suggest looking into a Thunderbolt to HDMI connector. In this case, you may be able to use the TV as an external monitor. For this option, please confirm through additional research. I have not tested it personally.
You can also use an Apple TV, which connects with HDMI. In this case, you can use Airplay Mirroring. Not all Macs support Airplay Mirroring, so you need to check first. I have a Mid-2011 27" iMac, and it supports Airplay Mirroring. I don't use it often because my TV is in another room, but I just tried it and it worked. It had to change the screen resolution to work well, so I don't know if I would want to use it as my day to day monitor. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5404

  • Mini DVI to VGA cable won't fit.  Too big for slot on 12 PowerBook G4

Are there more than one type of cable?

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2369 shows only one kind of mini-DVI port for the 12" Powerbook.  Sounds like you got something that is not an mini-DVI port based cable.  Mini-VGA cables look very similar, and can be misidentified.  What are you connecting to from the Powerbook G4?  Make, model # is important.  Often DVI-HDMI adapters are better than DVI to VGA if there is an option.  Cause DVI-VGA you need a proper digital/analog converter in the cable in question.

  • Mini DisplayPort to VGA cable, when available?

With this new MacBook aluminum, the I/Os are changed a little bit. The Mini DisplayPort in particular, it is said to be perfect to connect to Apple LED Cinema Display, but what if I want to connect any regular projector in order to do presentations? or any other monitors? I have searched here in China for Mini DisplayPort to VGA cable, but with no luck, then I googled it, seems it is not available in the market yet? Keynote is so good that makes me irresistible to do a presentation with my Mac.
So my question is: where can I get a cable like this? and how much would that be?

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
it's avaiable in the US Apple Online Store http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MjkyNjI0MA

  • Apple mini displayport to vga cable. ...doesn't work. help.

Tried hooking up my mac mini using the apple mini displayport to vga cable to my 22" acer monitor but im getting nothing. At the same time I hooked my tv to the hdmi connection and could see in the display settings on the mini that a dialogue box for the settings for the acer had appeared but no signal on the monitor itself.....any ideas?

    Try resetting the PRAM.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Vga cable doesn't work mini

I have a mac mini and I purchased the mini display port to vga cable for it. When I start the mac, I get the apple logo and then the screen goes blank. I have connected the mini to my tv using a hdmi cable and that is working.

Try resetting the NVRAM / PRAM, as per > About NVRAM and PRAM
Are you using Apple's > Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter and a VGA cable or an aftermarket DisplayPort to VGA cable...?

  • Mini-VGA to VGA cable for HDTV

1.)I am need of some real knowledge. I just purchased an LG 720p LCD HDTV. I want to connect my iBook to the display (which is one of the main reasons i bought the tv). I use the mini-vga to vga cable that came with my iBook, i then connect it to a VGA to VGA cable (the included cable is way to short to reach,so i attach the cable that came with my tv). Boot up...the iBook detects the display under the Display tab in system prefs, but the pc-input on the TV is still blank flashing "no signal" indicating there is no input. I've also tried LG's suggestion (which is the same every time i call) to lower the resolution and reboot to no avail. (they are some real smarties over there..Lifes Good must mean for their customer service rep's!
2.)I know there is a mini-vga to composite/s-video cable available, but i heard the resolution suffers greatly. I'm make films and would want the best (VGA) resolution possible from my iBook. Any help is greatly appreciated.
3.) I've also heard of programs like screenspanningdoctor and DisplayConfigX will these help with my HDTV problem??
    Thanks

No cable can extract an audio signal from your MBP's mini-Displayport. It just isn't there.
If your monitor offers the option of selecting separate inputs for video and audio when HDMI is used for the video, just add a separate audio cable from your Mac's headphone port to the monitor's RCA audio inputs (red and white). If the monitor assumes that audio and video will be delivered together whenever its HDMI port is used, then you'll have to send the video signal via DVI or VGA, neither of which carries audio. Then your monitor should play both signals, because it won't expect both to be coming through the same cable and will find the separate audio signal.
Alternatively, there is also this option:
    http://www.kanexlive.com/iadapt20
It combines a USB audio signal with a mini-Displayport video signal and sends them both to the monitor or TV through a single HDMI cable. But it's pricey, and it takes up a USB port that you may not be able to spare.

  • "miniDVI-DVI adaptor" + "DVI to VGA cable" can't detect LCD TV

    Hi,
I just bought a "miniDVI-to-DVI" adapter, and then a DVI-to-VGA male-to-male cable to connect my MacBook to Viewsonic 19" monitor but my MacBook didn't detect the 19" monitor. (This 19" monitor has only VGA but no DVI input!)I tried it on my friend's 32" LCD TV but it couldn't work too.
Then I tried to connect my MacBook by using "miniDVI-DVI" adaptor + "DVI-DVI male to male" cable to DVI socket of my frind's 32" LCD TV. It worked! So I think it's not the problem of the "miniDVI-DVI" adaptor.
I worried that it's the problem of the "DVI-to-VGA" cable so I went to the shop to exchange another new "DVI-to-VGA" cable. But my MacBook still couldn't detect all these 2 monitors via VGA socket.
Can anybody help me? Please advise! Thanks!

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
The shopman told me that "miniDVI-VGA" adaptor was out of stock, only "miniDVI-DVI" adaptor was available yesterday. At that time I thought I had to buy a connecting cable also (no matter it's VGA-VGA or DVI-VGA cable).
Since my friend has a DVI-DVI cable, if I buy this "miniDVI-to-DVI" adapter I may share my MacBook with his 32" TV too. So I bought these adaptor & cable.

  • DVI to VGA cable disables trackpad

Used the mini dvi to vga cable for months with no problem. Today i plugged in the DVI and the track pad was disabled - could not use track pad at all. Additionally when i select system preferences and display the display is automatically reverted to 800 resolution. Searches suggest that I go in to system preferences and display and select arrangement to use mirror mode - but when i go to displays arrangement is not an option. Perhaps this is only available when the dvi is plugged in, but alas when i plug in the mini dvi to vga i cant do anything as the trackpad is disabled.
I dont know what happened, what changed or how to go back to where i can simply plug in the mini dvi and watch downloads on my TV -
    Very frustrated

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
It sounds to me like you have a defective Mini-DisplayPort to VGA adapter. I would call AppleCare Support or take the adapter in to a local Apple store or Apple Authorized Service provider to have it checked out.

  • Tv wont recognize mini DVI to VGA cable

Okay so I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro with the Intel 4000 graphics card. I also had a Mini DVI to VGA cable from my previous macbook. I plugged it into my new macbook hooked a VGA cable to my Panisonic LED, but my TV wont recongize my computer. It won't let me change to the "PC" input unless it can recognize an input. I went into System Setting>display>arrangement and played around with no pravale. I read some previous posts about having to reset the computer with it adapter plugged in, didn't work. Does anyone have a solution?

  • Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 running 10.8.4? Tried mini display to VGA cable

Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with a MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 laptop?  Would like to use larger screen when working at home.  I have a mini display port to VGA cable and have tried to hook up the old display but it seems not to work.  When I try to activate the screen on the old display-- a window comes up in the MacBookPro and asks me if I want to shut down the computer.  What little I have read it that the MacBookPro had Thunderbolt and the old display may not be compatible?  Any assistance would be appreciated.

    11.09.12 22:16:06,148 ClamXavSentry[286]: I will quarantine infected files
This doesn't have anything to do with your problem, but it will likely cause other issues with your e-mail.
Here's my standard recommendation concerting the use of A-V software to deal with potentially infected messages:
Never use ClamXav (or any other A-V software) to move (quarantine) or delete e-mail. It will corrupt the mailbox index which could cause loss of other e-mail and other issues with functions such as searching. It may also leave the original e-mail on your ISP's e-mail server and will be re-downloaded to your hard drive the next time you check for new mail.
So, if you choose to "Scan e-mail content for malware and phishing" in the General Preferences, make sure you do not elect to either Quarantine or Delete infected files.
When possibly infected e-mail files are found:
Right-click/Control-click on either the infection or file name in the ClamXav window.
Select "Reveal In Finder" from the pop-up menu.
When the window opens, double-click on the file to open the message in your e-mail client application.
Read the message and if you agree that it is junk/spam/phishing then use the e-mail client's delete button to delete it (this is especially important when the word "Heuristics" appears in the infection name).
If you disagree and choose to retain the message, return to ClamXav and choose "Exclude From Future Scans" from the pop-up menu.
If this is a g-mail account and those messages continue to show up after you have deleted them in the above manner, you may need to log in to webmail using your browser, go to the "All Mail" folder, find the message(s) and use the delete button there to permanently delete them from the server.
To fix the corrupted mailbox index(es), highlight each one that was corrupted and choose Rebuild from the appropriate menu.

  • 32" SAMSUNG LCD not able to display Macbook through VGA Cable

New 32" Samsung (LA32A650 series 6) not picking up signal from Black Macbook. It's connected via VGA cable (mini DVI to VGA). Using a 5 meter, 15pin VGA cable which seems to work on a 20" DELL monitor (Macbook to Dell Monitor).
The Macbook sees the Samsung but the Samsung does not see the Macbook. Tried having both mirroring on and off...no luck. The PC option on the Samsung is still greyed out. Anybody have any other suggestions? I see in other posts where people are able to display their Macbooks to even bigger LCD's using a VGA setup so it must be possible.
Yes the Macbook is plugged in.
    Yes cables are connected correctly.
Yes the Mini DVI to VGA adapter works fine.
I know with some PC laptops you press Function F5 (or other F?). Anything like that for a Macbook?
What's the ideal display setting for the Macbook? I've dropped the display setting all the way down to 800x600 but still no luck. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or doing it in the wrong order?

    Ok...just an update.
I brought a pc laptop and my macbook to the store today. The 32" samsung LCD in the store did not pick up the signal on either laptops. HOWEVER. We hooked it up to a 42" sony LCD and no problems with the PC or macbook. So, the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter and VGA cable are fine. A samsung service tech will be coming to the house next week. I will post their findings.
My suggestion so far would be bring your laptop and cables to any store before making a decision on which LCD you would like to purchase (that is if you care to use the LCD as an external monitor).

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
and select the Library that you moved.  That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Your first option didn't work because you imported one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
Your second option didn't work because you simply referenced her library on the old machine.
    Regards
    TD
