2006 mini getting hot??

I have late 2006 mini baught in march 2007.  Seems getting a little hot.  Fan is a little louder all of a sudden.  Or maybe I'm imagining it.  But does feel a little hot.  Maybe I need to move it from under my monitor stand so it can breathe but it has been there since 2007 without any problems.  It is core duo not 2 duo.  2gb of ram I added at the store when I got it.  They installed it.
Anyhow I installed temperature monitor widget and it says "CPU A Temperature Diod 62 degrees celsius" and "CPU A Heat Sink 53 degrees celsius".  Also I installed "fan control 1.2" as written on another even though for macbook pro works on mini well.  But it says left fan 3850 rpm and right fan -1 rpm.  Is that because mac mini has only 1 fan.
Anyhow is 60 degrees about normal??  Or even idle (or even just replying here and only 1 tab open) 50 - 60 is too much??  Any opinions appreciated.

Edit:
Run the Apple Hardware Test to see if the fan is working properly.

why does my mac mini get hot and run fan speeds up high.  I've added ram and do not understand the temperature flucuations.

How hot is hot?  What programs are you running when it gets hot?

  • Does 2012 mac mini get very hot when using logic pro

does 2012 mac mini get very hot when using logic pro

Are you saying that your machine does or is it an enquiry before buying ? I use a 2011 server model - well, it does get hot over a period of time, but I've very rarely heard the fan kick in, its a surprise when it does. As far as I know the casing has been specifically designed to conduct heat, rather than having any fancy grilles and so on, being so small in size. I haven't found it to be cause for concern, if that's any help.

  • My iPad mini adapter gets hot when charging?

Why does my iPad mini FireWire get hot when charging?

The iPad does not have FireWire, do you mean the USB cable?  The charger and cable will get warm during charging but should not actually be hot.  If they are too hot to handle, try a different charger/cable and see if they are just as hot.
If not, take the iPad, charger and cable to an Apple store genius bar to be examined by the technicians.

  • Is it normal for iPad to get hot after 30 min usage?

    Hi,
well after thirty minutes or so my iPad 1 starts getting hot and temperatures continue to increase ..
    This also happens while charging.
I just wanted to know if this is normal ..

My iPad (1st Gen) does get a little warm to but not 'hot', even after more than an hour of usage.
Are you using it outdoor in direct sunlight or in a 'hot' closed environment/room?
Having aluminium/metal casing, it might radiates heat more readily than plastic/glass coverings when subject to warmer than normal ambient temperature.
Otherwise, if it is still under warranty (or AppleCare) I would suggest making appointment with the Genius Bar at an Apple Store. It might be a faulty product.

  • Dear sir while using the Internet 3G on my phone after using for 15 min my phone back panel getting hot every time after closing the inernet it becomes normal cool plz suggest me what to do & for 3G use I'm getting battery back up for 3 to 4 hrs plz help

rs only plz tell me what to do plz reply it is normal or any problem with my phone

Please don't respond with useless comments.  I've already addressed the fact that my screen was broken a few months ago.  My phone may or may not be broken beyond repair either way, as I said before I can't afford a new phone.  It's a strange problem because from what I can tell no one else has posted the same problem anywhere I can find.  Don't be a dickhole.

  • IPhone 4s Getting Hot for no reason and wifi not working help?

The otherday my phone was in my pocket and I could feel it getting hot, so I pulled it out of my pocket and noticed it was a lot hotter than it should be, after noticing this I noticed that my wifi was not connected so I checked SETTINGS<WIFI and there was no connections, the little icon just kept spinning and spinning, so then I toggeled it off and on, no luck, turn airplane mode on and off still no luck, I even toggled of my mobile data no luck.
I preformed a reboot, (held both lock and home button together) and checked again, NOTHING.
I then turnt it off for 10 mins ( held lock button slid red icon across) and the phone got colder and then the wifi started working again.
then last night it did it again, I have taken the phone out of its case and changed the charger(just incase these were affected it), I then tried everything again, it helped but not for long, tonight it has done the same thing so I thought nothing of it, il just do what I had previously done,
BUT NO! not even resetting network settings helped, neither did erasing all data, neither did placing the phone into restore mode, restoring via itunes and then setting the phone up as new, just incase the backups contained software glitches causing the wifi not to work.
I have been screen shotting the phone in and out of charge showing no wifi connections are showing for proof for when I take it to the apple store thursday (everyother day was fully booked).
Being that my phone still is covered by apple care, Ive got proof that it is defective/tempermental(incase it starts working again and then stops) and obviously they can have a look at it, take it apart or whatever i dont care I want it fixed! but will they replace it?(the whole phone) and also will it be for free as ive still got apple care warrenty and it is hardware problems?
ALSO i never had any problems with 5.1.1 so I hope if i get a replacment it will be 5.1.1 as I wont update until 6.0.1 is stable enough

*also, i have just reset all settings again and my wifi connections have appeared! this is taking the P*** now apple sort it out!

  • DVI Splitter on 2006 Mini

I have a splitter on my 2006 mini.  It's a DVI to DVI/VGA. Can't get the TV(VGA) to get a signal if the monitor(DVI) is connected.  Unhook the DVI monitor and the TV picks it up.  I want to have both the TV and monitor hooked up at the same time.  I'd also like to get my TV(which doesn't have a DVI connection) beyond a 800x600 resolution.  Is there a way to do that with the VGA or am I stuck with that?  Also, can I get it to fill more of the screen or am I stuck with the small screen it fills?

These splitters do not let you use both connections at the same time.
If I remember correctly that model of Mac mini has just a single DVI connection on the back and would have come with a DVI to VGA adaptor in the box. Obviously there is no way to fit a second video card, but it is possible to use a USB to VGA adaptor which would let you connect both displays at the same time. See http://www.displaylink.com/shop/adapters/
If your monitor also has a VGA port then you could get a VGA switchbox (not a KVM) to switch the output between the monitor and the TV. See http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10106&cs_id=1010601 &p_id=54&seq=1&format=2
A newer Mac mini would have two built-in video interfaces, the current model has a HDMI (which can connect via the included adaptor to a DVI monitor) and a Thunderbolt interface which can connecto to a VGA display using a additional Mini Displayport to VGA adaptor.

  • TS3274 New IPAD Power plug gets hot

I have a one week old new IPAD.
The power plug that comes with the IPAD gets very hot upon charging (the bulk portion that gets into wall socket). I had IPAD2 and never faced this issue?
Should I take it to an Apple Shop for replacement?

Mine gets warmer than the power adapter on my original iPad, but .... It does not get "Very Hot". I would take it back to Apple and show them, and ask for a replacement, it should not get that hot.

  • My 4s sudenly getting hot

About an hour ago my 4s (os 7.1.2) sudenly getting hot. at the time i'm  sleeping . I ussaly took my 4s near me and inadvertently touch by me. My iphone is very hot maybe about 50-60 degree celcius last i see my iphone have 98% battries and when is getting hot my iphone battries is only 35 ( from my last to when te iphone getting hot about 4-5 hour ). I'm affraid that the iphone  can damage the hardware because is very hot i'm shut down my 4s. have everyone ever had this experienced like this or someone please tell me maybe some of my part is defects ? Thanks alot sory for my bad english

before that try some simple stuff, download an app called "system status" that will allow you to check your CPU % if it is running high during idle/standby/usage. maybe a rogue app continuing to run
PS. the CPU should average  90% and higher while just "idle", and when "usage" from 1.2% TO 11% give or take(mine goes 3.2% to 8.3% to 5.3% and that's while running Pandora, Also the load per 1,5,15 minutes should be minimally small between .50 to 1.05)

  • Screen Getting Hot

When using the iPad in moderate use the right side of the screen gets hot. Is this normal or is this just mine?

After playing some games I've noticed it a little warmer than the other spots on the screen but not enough to be alarmed about.
If you think it's bad then defiantly take it to the Genius Bar.
