2008 BMW 535i and iphone 4 compatibility?

Recently acquired a 2008 BMW 535i with iDrive. I can pair my iphone 4 to the bluetooth, but it seems to have limited functionality. Anyone know if the iphone 4 is fully compatible with 2008 BMW?

I have a 2007 Explorer and have a male male adaptor that I can plug into my aux line. It works great. I play the ipod feature through my stereo system. I can also answer my phone and talk through the stereo system. I do not have a problem hearing, but the person on the other end often complains of an echo.

BMW idrive and iphone 3G

I have just bought a 6 series BMW. It's on an 05 plate but has had the idrive software updated to the 08 version. I try and pair my 3G iphone, it finds the BMW but will not pair. HELP!!!!!!!

I have a different problem with my '03 model X5. My iPhone will pair and it will transfer the phone book no problem.
However, since the upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.0 the bluetooth connection drops every 7 seconds for a period of 7 seconds. Effectively I have 7 seconds of full functionality and then 7 seconds where the screen in the X5 says "Activate Phone".
When incoming calls are detected the system immediately snaps into life and I can make outgoing calls during the 7 second window when the phone and car are talking.
Anyone else have a similar issue?

Early 2008 MacBook SSD and RAM Upgrade Compatability

I have an early 2008 macbook running OS X 10.5.8. It has a 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo, 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2, and a 120GB 5400 RPM drive. It’s model MacBook 4,1. Obviously, it could use some upgrades. It still works fine, but is just slow. I can’t afford a new one, and think I can still get some life out of this one. I am thinking about the following upgrades:

I also plan on putting OS X 10.7 (lion) on the new SSD, unless anybody thinks keeping it at Leopard or Snow Leopard would be a better choice, performance wise.
Does anybody see any compatibility issue with any of these upgrades, or have any suggestions as to better upgrades? I realize the MacBook can only support SATA I, so it won’t get the full SATA III benefit of the SSD, but it should still be a huge performance upgrade. Thank you for any help!

have you completed the upgrade yet? I also wanted to know. Someone is trying to trade me their 2008 MB Pro as well (for my Canon L lens), I think it's the 4GB already one and I also have a crucial SSD from my Dell that I can put in. I need to have the MB to run smoothly on PS CS6 & LR5 Please let us know what the results are. What do you guys thinkg? is it enough to run those smoothly?

I also have the new ipad and an ipod classic both show in itunes with no problems.

You need to make sure the vehicle supports the correct Bluetooth profile for streaming music. Check this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647 for iPhone information. Check the owner's manual for the vehicle and/or go to the MB website and see if the particular radio device supports this.

IPhone 4 will not connect to 2008 BMW using USB?

Our BMW 2008 stock car stereo will no longer detect our iPhone 4 after updating the iOS. Is there a solution that does not require rolling back the iOS?

Thanks for the suggestion. I did my research on BMW updates and it looks like they are only available for vehicles March 2010 and newer. However, the BMW site says I need a Y cable for proper connectivity. I'll purchase this and post the results...

Car Receivers that play DVDs and iphone compatable which one?

Hi I am looking to get a car receiver installed with dvd and iphone playing enabled to the max but would also like GPS even if I could get the tom tom app and google maps playing on this receiver is fine.
But what sort of DVD car receiver do people really reccomend for iphone I think I have an iphone 3gs or one of the earlier ones that I hope will last until the iphone 6 comes out, in the meantime I will need a receiver that also charges this old dying iphone.
The receivers I have looked at and sort of like are: Eclipse AVN827GA for around $2499 at the darer scale. And double din A/V receiver Sony XAV-63 around $399 but I don't think this cheaper one has gps can my iphone gps be displayed on this model. Or the pioneer AVH-2450BT with a smaller screen and priced around $899 I also don't think this has GPS and again can my iphone's tom tom and google maps and TVNZ ondemand (now on my iphone in New Zealand) and you tube be played on these cheaper receivers.
But people out there might know of better receivers for iphone in general.

Iphone 4 ios 6 does not pair with bluetooth on 2008 BMW 325i

I just updated my iphone 4 to IOS 6 this morning. I got in my car and tried to pair the phone with bluetooth but it did not pair. I removed the device from the car's memory and tried to re-pair the device but it did not function. Can I roll back my iphone's operating system to 5.1 or how do I fix this?

I just discovered the same issue today in my efforts to get alert times synced on my iCal and iPhone after noticing a difference yesterday. I have been using the iCloud calendar sync since iCloud first came out with zero problems. Today I discover how terrible this sync is. My wife and I use a macbook, imac, 2 phones and 2 ipads to enter in calendar information and we depend on a flawless sync for our work and family schedules.
First, the iCal on my iMac has default times that get applied to every singe item, even if that item had an alert beforehand. But this default alert time is not applied as an alert on my iPhone4 calendar just the imac. I haven't even looked at my macbook yet for fear of what i may discover. After changing alerts and unchanging them and activating default times and deactivating them and wasting time doing this i just need to go through every event on my iphone to make sure that is now correct since I use that the most. What an unbelievable hassle for a program that worked flawlessly beforehand. Apple needs to recify this and have the sync work like it did before.

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.

Since Palm Desktop is no longer in active development, is there a Palm Desktop replacement for Mac and iPhone?

Well, they offer all those functions--Mail has Notes and To-dos show up in both Mail and iCal, plus Address Book. Clearly someone made the fundamental decision that separate integrated programs were better than an all-in-one, so I wouldn't expect an all-in-one from Apple in any foreseeable future. But you can send a feature request, if you like:

What would be interesting---and may exist, I haven't looked---would be if a third-party used the open access to iCal/Address Book info to build an all-in-one that integrated with Apple's separate apps, which could provide seamless iPhone/OS X integration while still letting people have the unified interface. Postbox uses Address Book but I didn't see any calendar/notes features in my quick check. Lots of apps build better replacements for Apple's individual programs--BusyCal, I think a Mail replacement, etc---but nothing unified that I've heard of.
However, my point was that you may be better off grabbing Entourage 2008 while it is still available than waiting for Outlook 2011, which is going to be a different program. Sometimes features go backwards, and Missing Sync compatibility may change or be delayed with Outlook 2011. I don't see the advantage of hanging onto PD until the very last minute.
