2008 Manhattan Beach Wiine Auction Poster

http://www.peterfigen.com/ocs/wine_auction_elements/
Here's a link to a quick web gallery that starts off with the finished poster and ends up with the comp, complete with rip that was what I had to go by.
When you get a comp from an agency, you generally go through it from back to front and front to back to consider all the elements that you might need. In this case the I pretty much knew that the main shot had to be from a helicopter. I was more concerned about the birds.
After looking at about 60 stock shots of seagulls I knew that this wasn't going to be easy. The choices were to shoot my own at the beach, hire an animal trainer or go to a taxidermist. Budget pretty much determined my direction. There were two stuffed gulls in all of L.A. and both were pretty ratty. The animal trainers wanted about $3500 to bring live birds in the studio. Ouch! So my girlfriend, Gee, and I headed to Sunset Blvd and PCH and the beach behind Gladstones Restaurent with seven loaves of cheap white bread and in about an hour, I shot 700+ images of gulls, mostly looking down from above, but from every possible angle. It really felt like we were in the middle of the flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz, and we didn't get crapped on! It was only after I shot the seagulls and saw that what I had might actually work that I worked up an estimate for the job. It's not the way I usually work, but in this case it made the most sense, and now I have a great collection of gull images - for the next time...
Helicopter. My first ride but definitely not my last. We - the two pilots and my good friend and photographer Benny Chan, flew from Long Beach over to Manhattan Beach in about 12 minutes at an altitude of 400-500 feet. Would have been faster but the Robinson 44 is limited to 100 knots when you take the doors off. Contrary to popular belief, while the 'copter can hold sort of still, it does keep on moving so we made about a dozen circular passes. I wanted to veer away from the comp as shooting straight down would have meant almost no reflection off the water and less depth to the overal image. There is a ton of vibration and even shooting at 1/2000th-1/3000th with IS enabled, not every shot is crisp. The pilots were very co-operative and we were able to go as low as 300 ft. which is the approximate altitude of the final shot. The best part of the helicopter ride was the takeoff and landing. Just floating up and down was an amazing feeling - like the 3-D highways in Back to the Future must have felt. I was warned about airsickness, but even leaning into a banked turn with no door did not bother me at all.
I had to remember to shoot surfers for later, as we almost always have a surfer in the poster.
Back in the studio it was really a matter of deciding which out of the 700 bird shots and which of the 350 pier shots would all fit together. There was a lot of trying out this vs that, changing size relationships until it all sort of gelled together. I also decided to take all the people off the beach and re-populate the pier with individual from alternate frames. Just till it felt right to me. The Photoshop work was pretty straightforward masking but the composite image was taken into Lab color where it was tweaked for color contrast and saturation. After bringing it back to RGB, I added a Color Fill Layer set to multiply with a yellowish color that gives the late afternoon wash to the image. You can see the difference between the somewhat boring original and the final.

People not involved in advertising are always shocked at how much good imaging costs. The photographer's experience, technical expertise, expenses, overhead and finally image usage, all combine to determine the final price - oh, and the client's budget too.
I've started charging the wine auction folks more or less regular rates. When I first did this ten years ago, the auction was taking in about $20K. Now it's 25 times that and they can well afford to pay something for their image.
While this project is really small potatoes in the advertising world, when you are working on a project where the client is going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and going to get national exposure in front of millions of sets of eyes, the relative worth of the image does go up. There's a lot more riding on an entire campaign that just the photography, so the photography has to be done right and done well, and that generally means more money.

I purchased a MBP 13.3/2.5/8GB/128GB FLASH from Apple store in Manhattan Beach,CA some months ago. It has only 128 GB storage.
I soon realized that I did a big mistake not upgrading the storage when purchasing. I thought I could upgrade later which is not possible I understand.
My Q:
What is the best and most practical/userer friendly option for additional storage say up to 1 TB ?

Hey leiv karsten,
As your macbook is retina,you can't upgrade it like previous generation macbook pro.You can purchase a portable 1TB external harddrive.

Posting period 001 2008 is not open
Message no. F5201
Diagnosis
Period 001 of fiscal year 2008 is not open for posting for the variant of posting period 1000.
System Response
Processing cannot be continued.
Procedure
The error can have several causes. In order to eliminate the error, proceed as follows:
1. Check whether the posting date was entered correctly. The system determines the posting period by means of the date.
2. Check whether the required posting period is open for posting for the variant of posting period 1000 and account type +. Make sure that the period is open for posting.
To do this, specify a period interval in which the required period for the variant of posting period 1000 and account type + is contained.
Proceed
thanks

Hi
Kris is right, that message means you can't post a FI document in the period 1 (probably Gennuary) of the 2008, but this can't mean you can't create a new vendor.
So are you sure on trx?
If the trx is right perhaps somebody has inserted a control in a user-exit.

MM periods follow as
First go to OMSY and check the current period for your Comp code..
Then go to MMPV trx..
and Enter Comp code, period & year..
Here you need to enter the period you wants to open..
Ex: The Current period in OMSY is 10,2007
Then you need to enter period 11 & year 2007 in MMPV.
So, that period 10 will be closed & Period 11 will be opened automatically..
Like that you need to close the periods one by one till the period you want to post.
You can not reopen the closed MM period.
Pls becareful while doing in PRD client
and in OB52 maintain Like this
0001 + 1 2008 12 2008 13 2010 14 2014

Now try ur transaction.
Note

Anybody have any idea where the error is ?
Any help will be appreciated
Alex

You are right !!
The problem is inside the report generated by Oracle Reports
The XML code, which I retrieve running the report request is the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="&Encoding"?>
- <!-- Generated by Oracle Reports version 6.0.8.20.2
-->
- <MODULE1>
- <LIST_G_MANAGER_NO>

<MANAGER_NAME>Martin</MANAGER_NAME>
</G_MANAGER_NO>
</LIST_G_MANAGER_NO>
</MODULE1>
and the problem is the "&" !!!
So, inside Oracle Reports, when I try to generate the XML code from a preexisting report, the encoding variable is not set.
Now, I'm trying to understand how to set it, but I didn't find nothing....
Somebody knows where can I find a Report's configuration file in order to set this "encoding" ?
Thanks

• Change  Depreiation Posting Period

Dear Sap Friends,
I am working in a implementation project & just now I have completed my golive activities & uploaded the asset cut over data in the production server. I set the asset transfer date as 30.11.2008. while uploading the asset cut over data.
As per the asset transfer date first planned depreciation run should be in the month of December 2008 i.e. in 9th Posting Period. But when I execute (test mode) the same systems gives me an following error message
According to posting cycle, you should post period 010 next
Message no. AA683
Diagnosis
You cannot post depreciation in the period specified, as this will miss out a posting period.
System Response
No posting can be made in this period.
Procedure
According to the posting cycle, you should post period 010 next. Either enter period 010, which corresponds to the posting cycle, or request an unplanned posting run explicitly for this parameter
Even I also check that their no Depreciation Run is taken on Production Server. Now I want to post the Depreciation in the month of December 2008 i.e. in Posting Period 9th.
Please provide me the any solution on the above issue ASAP.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
Sandeep

Have a look in the table T093d with SE16.
It is possible that with the transport a wrong value is created in there.
For the solution seach with T093d. There is SAP note that you can implement.
An other option is not to run period 10 but start with 11 (will post 10 and 11). You tray to to do a repeat run first in test mode for period 10

• POSTING ERROR-MESSAGE POSTING BALANCE NOT CLEARED FOR THE PERIOD 2/2008A

Hi
I have a problem in payroll posting. While posting for one employee's persn number rejected and gave a message as Posting Balance not cleared for the period 2/2008A. To come out of the problem I changed the Payroll status record using pu03 changed the Erliest Retro date as 01.06.2008. Again tried to post but not posted again same Message displayed. After changing the Erliest Retro record I have not run the payroll for the particular employee. Is it required to run the payroll for the employee after changing the status in PU03. Request to guide on this
Thanks
EKP Yadav

Hi there
The posting may be out of balance for the employee because their credits dont equal their debits...
Do a test posting for the employee with the log on, this will tell you what amounts are being posted - and should give you an inidcation of where the balance is not cleared...
Yes, you would have to re-run the employee if you'd changed the retro date in PU03, but I dont think that will fix your posting problem....Should the employee have retroe'd?
From what I have seen, just changing the control record doesn't usually fix an out-of balance..there is usually another reason....eg wagetype incorrectly posting to the wrong number of accounts....or a missing wagetype on the employee (eg bank details...no /559 for the net pay to go to).
Cheers
Mary

• A trouble free way of giving Administrators access to redirected folders on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard?

A few months ago I set up some redirected folders on a clients Windows Small Busines Server 2008. I recall that setting up the redirected folders was straightforward, but when I edited the permissions to allow administrative access to these server located
folders, all hell broke lose. The permissions change seemed to trash the folders. I think I managed to 'bodge' it for a couple of users and got it working, but it was such a headache I didn't bother doing it for the other users.
Now, I sit in front of a brand-spanking-new Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard box which is going to be installed with a new client within 48 hours. I would like to set up redirected folders and would like to grant admin rights on these folders so I can view
their contents directly from the server.
It seems to me that there is no offical Microsoft documentation which relates specifically to doing this on Windows Server 2008. Given the amount of problems this has caused for many admins, I am astounded.
Somewhere there are articles which describe how to do it on 2003, but this procedure does not work well in 2008.
There is an SBS article that admits permissions can be trashed, but this is no help on Standard edition:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2010/10/08/folder-redirection-in-small-business-server-2008.aspx
I have just posted a note on this rather long article:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-GB/smallbusinessserver/thread/70fa7f0e-7f2c-4f00-8401-42d262d80cd6
So, my question, hopefully to Microsoft employee, please can you document
exactly how to grant admin rights to users redirected folders on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, and please could you do it today :-)
In the absence of this help, then I'm afraid this is yet another great but badly implemented feature that we will not be using.

NO IT DOESN'T!
Did you bother to read the original question?

So, Micro$haft, Why did you give instructions to Server 2003?
... When the requester SPECIFICALLY stated: "Somewhere
there are articles which describe how to do it on 2003, but this procedure does not work well in 2008"

• Not able to Post multiple IDOCS

Hi All,
I am getting my output from XSLT mapping like below:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<ZORDERS5>
+ <IDOC BEGIN="1">
+ <IDOC BEGIN="1">
</ZORDERS5>
But in the SAP R/3 it is able to post only the last IDOC (which is second IDOC in this case). I want to post all the IDOCS. What could be the problem?

Hi Srinivas,
Post multiple IDOCS
There are two Message Mappings involved in the whole scenario. First mapping is N:1 Mapping which will be used in BPM and second Mapping is 1:1 Mapping:
1. First Message Mapping  N: 1 – Mapping between IDoc (occurrence – 0...unbounded in “Messages” tab) to IDoc with changed occurrence of its top node (IDOC) as 0...unbounded.

• Prompting for UserName and Password when I click Report Server Web Service URLs in ssrs 2008 R2

Hi All,
I am using SQL Server Reporting services 2008 R2 . When I tried to open report server webservice URL in SSRS 2008 R2 It is prompting username and password. I tried to resolve the issue by deleting the <!--
<RSWindowsNegotiate/> --> line in rsreportserver.config but still I am getting the same prompt
and i tried by putting the server URL in trusted sites in IE also still no luck. I referred the below link 'http://blogs.msdn.com/b/lukaszp/archive/2008/03/26/solving-the-reporting-services-login-issue-in-the-february-ctp-of-sql-server-2008.aspx'
I am getting the same error.
Can anyone help me out to resolve this issue easily.
Thanks
Dathy

Hi Dathy,
Generally, this is a very common issue in Reporting Services 2008 R2, the blog you post is a good blog that summary the common solutions. If it doesn’t help, could you please try the following:
Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools and click on Internet Options.
Under the Security tab, click on Trusted sites and click the Sites button and Add Report Manager/Report Server URL to the trusted sites.
Then click Custom Level, and check the option Automatic logon with current user name and password.
Repeat step 3 and step 4 for Local Intranet.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,

• Problem starting Repository Browser Service on Windows Server 2008

Using the default Warehouse Builder installation in the 11g (11.1.0.7.0) databaseinstallation on a clean Windows Server 2008 64-bit installation.
Warehouse Builder installed and populated ok, OWB client works fine etc.
When trying to start the Repository Browser listener by running the startOwbbInst.bat, the OC4J container crashes with the following error in the \owb\j2ee\log\oc4j\log.xml:
+<MSG_TEXT>Could not create Secure http listener due to {0}</MSG_TEXT>+
+<SUPPL_DETAIL><![CDATA[java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\owb\bin\admin\..\..\j2ee\config\%ORACLE_HOME%\owb\j2ee\config\keystore.jks (The system cannot find the path specified)+

+     at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:106)+
+     at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:66)+
+     at oracle.oc4j.security.OC4JSSLSocketFactory.getStoreIn(OC4JSSLSocketFactory.java:253)+
(The local_service_login.bat works fine).
We're starting this as an administrator user in Win2008.
All parameteres in the setowbenv.bat seems to be correct as far as I can tell. There is a strange reference to %ORACLE_HOME% in the above log, of which I've no idea where it is coming from....
Identical installation worked fine on a 64-bit Windows Server 2003, - so can this be something related to a new security model in Windows Server 2008?
(I found a posting regarding problems with the startOwbbInst.bat on Vista [here |http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2275781&#2275781] - so maybe.... however, the quickfix mentioned there did'nt help us here...)
Anyone experienced similar problems (and preferably solved them) on Windows Server 2008 and/or Vista?
Regards,
-Haakon-

Solved this after some trawling through xml configuration files on the server.
The file C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\owb\j2ee\config\http-web-site.xml contains the reference to keystore.jks:
<ssl-config keystore="*%ORACLE_HOME%*/owb/j2ee/config/keystore.jks" keystore-password="->keystoreadmin"/>
changing this to:
<ssl-config keystore="C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1/owb/j2ee/config/keystore.jks" keystore-password="->keystoreadmin"/>
and the OC4J container starts successfully.
