Hi,
As other mentioned, did you have installed any the 3rd party Antivirus software in these Windows server 2008 R2 ?
If yes, uninstall the Antivirus from the box and try again.
Please check the firewall service is start or not.

  • Windows Search Service failing to install on Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server

    Hi,
I am unable to install the Windows Search Service on a Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server. I want to install this to enable indexing options within Outlook 2013 for all users.
Server Manager > Add Roles > File Services > Select only Windows Search Service > Install.
The error I receive: "Attempt to configure Windows Search Service failed with error code 0x80070057. The parameter is incorrect."
    Thanks,
    Bjorn

    Hi,
I did the test and could install the Windows Search Service without problem.
Which role did you installed on the terminal server?
Did you try to install it on another windows server?

  • Windows Search Service fails to start in Win8.1 Pro

When I attempt to start the Windows Search service I am getting the following error:
"Windows could not start the Windows Search service on Local Computer.
Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."
Looking at the details of the service, it appears the file in question is C:\Windows\System32\SearchIndexer.exe with the /Embedding parameter.  When I look in the System32 folder, the file is clearly present with a date stamp of 08/22/2013 and a time
stamp of 04:07 (I have 24 hr clock enabled in Settings).
So I'm unsure what the problem is.
Have attempted to run the SFC tool, no problems found.  Have disabled the service, restarted Windows then attempted to restart the service, getting the same error.
Have attempted to restore to a previous point and still getting the same error.  Even restoring to a date same as initial installation results in the same error. Any thoughts on what I can do at this point, short of doing a fresh install?
    Thanks!

Thank you!!! Have been looking for solution for months... even considered about reseting windows!
    This solution worked for me:
    Rename:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\FileChangeClientConfigs
    to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\FileChangeClientConfigsBAK

  • Windows Search Service Crashes on Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hi,
I'm running Windows Search service on a Windows Server 2012 R2 (24GB RAM, 8-core proc). The index catalog has a little over 2 million items (files and folders indexed).
Every once in a while this service crashes, and either remains in limbo or automatically recovers and restarts the index from zero. I'm trying to find out information about what may be causing the crashes and about how to prevent them. Unfortunately, I don't
seem to be able to find much about the Windows Search service on Windows Server 2012 R2. So anyone who may have input on this, please chip in.
    Additional info:
    - As mentioned above, the server OS is Windows Server 2012 R2. This is a physical server with 24GB RAM, 8-core proc and over 2TB of storage.
    - This server acts as a DC and as a File Server. In addition to this and Windows Search service, there are no other major services running here
    - Symantec Endpoing protection is installed and running on this server, but I've made sure to exclude the Window Search database from SEP
Here are some of the errors that are generated when the issue happens:
The error below may show up in the event logs. If it shows up more than once, the indexing service has likely crashed and won't recover.

I attempted to stop the indexing service, but it didn't stop. I noticed though that the indexing GUI started responding as soon as the
the service stop command failed. The indexing service seems to have picked up where it was (~300K items) and continued indexing.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your post.
To resolve this problem, use the Registry Editor to change the default timeout value for all services.

Please note before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data.

  • Windows Search Service Best Pratices on RDP Server with office 2013

    high everybody,
i´m looking for guide how to configure the Windows Search Service on our Server 2012 RDS Servers. The Servers have Office 2013 installed so turning off the Search Service is not an Option. We are using User Profile disks and logoff was getting slower
as time goes by. Reading in another thread if have deleted the Subkeys under
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\CrawlScopeManager\Windows\SystemIndex\DefaultRules
    and restarted the Search Service.
This Resulted in a lighning fast logoff ( less then 5 Seconds) before that logoff took up to 2 Minutes. Looking at the Reg Key´s i found that underneth the mentioned Key there was a subkey for each user that has EVER loged on to this Server. Normal load
should be about 30 Users and i found about 700 subkey´s. To it seems that this causes the Search Service searchindexer.exe to read thru all this key´s witch i think is not the Problem ( Internet Explorer does far more reads and writes) but what happens
    with the Information.
Maybe it has to to with the fact, that we are using User Profile Disks ?
In the Search Service Policy i have excluded "C:","users homedrive" and the Share where the Users share theyr data, for the Search Service to exclude.
So does anybode have experience with Seach Service on RDS Servers with Office maybe with User Profile Disks ?
    Thanks Reiner

    Hi Reiner,
You can check the following article might helpful to resolve your case.
Incomplete search results may occur in Outlook when a PDF iFilter is installed
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2925203/en-us
Also try uninstalling office 2013 application and then reinstall by running change user /install command in elevated command prompt on RDS server prior to install software's. Post software installation you need to run
change user /execute command on server

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 & 2008 R2 SP1 installation fails in Windows server 2012

    Hi All,
I have a strange issue here. I have a Windows server 2012 VM where i want to deploy SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise edition.
When i Run the setup every thing goes fine and during the installation wizard i get this error " The Folder path Program files contains  invalid characteristics. I get this error 3 - 4 times during the installation wizard and the installation fails.
Below is the screenshot for the same.
So i checked few articles regarding the compatibility issue and found the below article and upgraded my setup to SQL 2008 R2 SP1 using the below article.

Again i still see the same above errors and with that a new error related to a MOF File.
Below are the contents of the error logs. Can some one assist on this issue.

There are a few well known installation issues - in order of likelihood
    1) Check that the Windows username you have logged on with does not contain a space (or other special characters such as umlauts etc). The workaround is to create another Windows account without spaces, give that account Administrator privileges, and install using that account.
    2) Certain locales have problems. These include Russian, Estonian, English - South Africa, Spanish - Dominican Republic, German - Switzerland, French - Switzerland, Italian - Switzerland. The work around is to set the user locale to something else before the XE installation.
    3) If you have the DLL oraociei10.dll in your path you will have problems. Workaround is: Search to see if this file exists on your hard drive. If it does, check to see that the directory that contains it is not in your path. If it is in your path, then remove during the Install. You can add it back to your path after the install, but the SQL Command line provides with Oracle Database XE will not work
In all cases above, deinstall the software using Add/Remove Progam before trying the work around

  • Iscsitarget installation fails on Windows 2008 R2 server

    Dear All
We have windows 2008 Server which is also DC server. I am trying to install iscsitarget utility which I downloaded from Microsoft site. I want to configure the server as iscsi target and map the disk space to another server as disk volume.
The installation fails  as it says ' due to some error' there is no explicit entry in the event viewer also. The iscsitarget is version 3.3.
We have installed all the applicable updates from Microsoft updates.  ANy alternatives are available?

  • Installation failed with Windows Vista and JDK1.602

    Hi All,
Appreciate any help to resolve the following installation error on my Windows Vista system with JDK1.602
    Pop-up Error Message:
The installer is unable to run graphical mode. Please check the value of the DISPLAY environment varibale.
    Thanks,

JSE8.1 (based on NetBeans 5.0) is not supported on Vista. You may want to consider using the latest NetBeans 5.5.1. (NetBeans is where all future development is planned for).
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5192837
From the release notes of NB551:
    # Issue #85361: NetBeans 5.5 installer does not start on Windows Vista.
Description: On systems running Windows Vista, the NetBeans 5.5 installer fails to start
and a message suggesting running with the "silent" or "console" flag appears.
Workaround: To correct this, run the installer on JDK 6.0 build 96 or newer.
If you encounter further difficulties, disable Compatibility Mode manually. You can do
this by right-clicking the .exe installer file and choosing Properties from the pop-up menu,
then deselecting Compatibility Mode in the Compatibility tab of the File Properties dialog.
Note that if Compatibility Mode was turned on automatically, it is necessary to disable it
for both the current user AND all users. To do so, click the "Show Settings for All Users"
button, then deselect the Compatibility Mode checkbox in the "Compatibility for All Users"
dialog. You can try the same workaround for installing jse8.1, to see if that works. But, it is an older version that is not supported on vista and hence my suggestion to consider a later version of NB.

  • AIR 2.5.1 sidecar installation failing on Windows 7

My team is attempting to distribute the AIR runtime with our AIR application, and experiencing frequent failures on Windows 7 (64 bit).
The error message is "The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author. Error #0".
I am not seeing this issue on Mac OSX or with previous version of Windows.
This issue is for the sidecar distribution package - I am able to install AIR by itself without incident.
The package is a (zipped) folder to be downloaded from our storefront, containing the application and the most recent sidecar package for Windows distribution (2.5.1.17730).
The typical solution suggested for this type of problem is to scrub your system of any and all AIR files, and reinstall. I have tried this using both Windows Install Clean-up Utilities and CCleaner with no luck. Additionally I have restored the machine I am testing on to factory settings, so no evidence of AIR should exist to begin with.
I am using an admin account, and have tried shutting off UAC.
Curiously I am able to install without a problem from a USB drive or CD! The AIR distribution documentation hints that the sidecar installer is meant to be used with physcial media (CD, DVD, USB, or DMG); is it possible that sidecar installation ONLY works from external devices?
My main concern is NOT getting AIR installed on this particular machine, but releasing our product with the confidence that Windows 7 users will be able to install. Or at the very least, that we can offer a simple solution to users who do need to troubleshoot.
The install log (following) seems to point towards setup.msi being the fail point.
I have also zipped the MSI logs and posted them here, rather than pasting them in the document since there are 3 (long) files.
Any insight would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

    Hi Jian,
    Sorry for the delay.
We're generally a Mac house, so there's only the one Win7 machine that we test on. However we did send the app out for testing, and had similar results on some (but not all) of their Win7 environments.
Where should I send the app?

  • Turnkey Installation fails to start JBoss service

I'm installing the Turnkey LiveCycle on a PC running Windows Vista.
The LiveCycle Configuration Manager fails with the error:
Service startup failed for: JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle ES
If I try and manually start the service from Windows, I get this:
"The JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle ES service started than stopped."
Running JBossService.exe from the command prompt does nothing - it just returns to the prompt with no error message.
However, if I go the bin directory and execute 'run.bat', the server starts fine - I can access the configuration pages from my web browser on localhost:8080
It seems to be a problem with the wrapper that makes it into a Windows service.
Any ideas of how I can get fix this?
    Thanks!
    Rob.

    Thanks Jasmin.
I found it was a 64bit Windows issue. The 'JBossService.exe' which is really a copy of 'JavaService' needs to be replaced with a version compiled for 64 bit Windows.
I used the file from "JavaService-2.0.7.64.zip".

  • Windows 2012 Failover Cluster - File server role (vCO)

    Hi,
I wonder if anybody can shed some light on a query i have.
A windows 2012 failover cluster will be built in AD domain example.uk.  Cluster File server roles will be created and will reside in this domain also.
We also have a requirement to run a cluster file server role in the child domain off secure.example.uk.  Is this possible? or do the file server roles and related vCO's have to reside in the same domain as the cluster (CNO).
I know the CNO can be used to create the VCO but could a prestage a VCO in the child domain of secure.example.uk.
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
    By default CNO will create
VCO automatically in default domain computer OU, we generally use the
KISS principle to place the CNO and VCO to the same OU, and as far as I know there no known design document indicate the VCO can be placed in different domain, therefore I suggest you place the CNO and V CO at same OU.

  • HP Installer Fails on Windows 7 64-bit for CP1020 Series Printer

    Hello!
I've been trying to troubleshoot this for days, and I've seen lots of unanswered/unresponded to posts regarding the same matter so I hope someone sees this!
Product Name & Number: LaserJet CP1025nw color CE914A
    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Error Message: HP LaserJet Installer has stopped working
Changes made to system before the error occured: We updated our router info, so I ran the installation disk to reconnect the printer wirelessly. It uninstalled the programs originally added to run the printer.
    The Details:
Alright, so 3 days ago we updated our router SSID and password for security reasons. Apparently, there's no easy way to update network details for the CP1025nw so I had to run the installation disk. It prompted me to uninstall the software, reboot and then reinstall. I run through the prompts, and then choose "Connect through a wireless network". After searching the network, I then choose "USB Setup of Wireless". I connect the USB when prompted, and as soon as the drivers are installed I get the Windows error message posted above.  I have attached a screenshot of what appears as well.
The frustrating thing is that the printer still works after installation, but only through USB connection! I need to get wireless working again, but without the installation software working, I can't seem to make this happen (unless someone knows a hack/work around).
Event Viewer provides the following details on the application error:
Faulting application name: hpbcsiInstaller.exe, version: 1.5.6.4020, time stamp: 0x4bbf9f17
Faulting module name: hppccompio.DLL, version: 1.3.0.24, time stamp: 0x4c9685d0
    Exception code: 0xc0000417
    Fault offset: 0x000073bf
    Faulting process id: 0x970
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cdbc45b6632fa1
    Faulting application path: D:\Installer\hpbcsiInstaller.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\hppccompio.DLL
    Report Id: cb4d353b-2839-11e2-be7e-002564531498
I have tried a vast array of solutions and none of them seem to work. Everything from firmware upgrades, removing all instances of HP files including .inf files, installing with startup programs and services as basic as they can get, etc.
     PLEASE HELP!!
    Cheers,
    Kirk
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Alright, well this was a beast of a problem to say the least. I'm so relieved to be finished with this nonsense.
How it all started - a recap:
We changed the password on our wireless network as we were updating it for security reasons.  I couldn't find ANYTHING that allowed for me to update the network details (password or SSID) directly on my printer and everywhere said I needed to uninstall and reinstall everything (and re-run the connect to wifi via USB). This is not the case - there is a much simpler solution which I will also cover at the end of this post. Anyway, as mentioned above, during the stage of installing device drivers, the installer crashes with the Windows message "HP Installer Setup Has Stopped Working".
    How I fixed it:
    1. Printed a configuration page by pressing down the 'resume' button for a few seconds and letting go. I took note of the following in the upper right corner:
         Status: Not Connected
         Network in Use: None
         IP Address: 0.0.0.0
I got continued to wonder if I could connect to the printer directly through the ethernet port so I...
    2. plugged in a cat5 from my laptop to the printer.
    3. Printed a second configuration page. Now I got the following information:
         Status: Connected
         Network in Use: Wired
         IP Address: 169.254.71.50
    4. I opened my web browser and tried going to 169.254.71.50 but the page wouldn't connect. I recently just built a gaming computer and found a way to bridge internet from a wireless laptop to a wired device (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96Z1_6rX5qU) so I wondered if this would work with the printer.
    5. Bridged my Wireless and Network connections as per the video above.
    6. Opened my web browser and once again tried navigating to 169.254.71.50 and it WORKED! (Not sure if that IP address is unqiue to my printer, but printing a configuration report is the best place to find it.
    7. I clicked on the Networking tab and then selected  Wireless Configuration.
    8. From here I was able to enable my wireless connection, updated my wireless password, and choose the wireless network I wanted to connect to! This is how you can update your wifi information without having to do a complete reinstall!!
    9. I now unplugged the ethernet cable (as suggested next to the enable/disable radio buttons. My wireless printer light turned on and stayed on. I was now connected again!!
    10. I don't think this was a critical step, but I also set up the ePrint mobile printing
    11. I printed another configuration page, and could now see the following:
         Status: Connected
         Newtwork in Use: Wireless
         IP Address: 192.168.1.115
    12. I could now navigate back into the printer through my browser using that IP and was able to find and print to my printer wirelessly through my phone, but was still unable to print from my laptop wirelessly.
    13. I inserted the original install CD, held my breath and clicked install. Holding your breath here is optional.
    14. It asked how I wanted to connect, and as before I choose wirelessly. This time instead of asking me to connect the USB, it FOUND my printer on the network! I selected it, clicked continue and everything successfully installed!
Everything is now back to normal! I can use my printer wirelessly once again. PLEASE let me know if anyone needs more clarification on the above steps, or if something doesn't work for you because there is no other solution out there. Trust me, I spent HOURS AND HOURS looking. I hope this helps some of you!
    Cheers,
    Kirk

  • Installation fails on Windows XP Profession SP 2

I've been trying to install Java Enterprise System 5, but it keeps failing during the "Publishing product information" phase when I use the setup.exe file.
When I use WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86.exe it gives me the error: "You don't have permission to update Windows XP. Please contact the system administrator." even though I'm logged in as an administrator.
I've turned off the firewall, checked the registry, and look at several installation guides. None of them mention the problem I'm seeing. Any ideas?
