  • NTP Problem

    Hi everybody,
I need help about ntp issue on my Cisco MDS (m9100-s2ek9-kickstart-mz.5.0.1a.bin ,  m9100-s2ek9-mz.5.0.1a.bin)
All my Cisco network equipements synchronises to my ntp server (Cisco catalyst 6500) without any problem except Cisco MDS equipement.
    i have these informations:
    ntpd[1213]: ntp:frequency error 512 PPM exceeds tolerance 500 PPM
    2010 Sep 28 09:35:10 LV2-SWS-MDS1B ntpd[1355]: ntp:time reset +2.829312 s
and this is my configuration on my Cisco MDS:
    ntp server 192.168.7.12
    ntp source-interface  mgmt0
on my Catalyst 6500, i just define "ntp master" and "ntp source vlan 7"
Could you give me some informations to resolve this issue.
    Thanks a lot
    Best regards
    Geoffrey

Is this initial NTP configuration on the MDS? If so, and if the MDS clock is way off, can you set the clock manually once using "clock set x" command and then let NTP synchronize?

How are you executing this (through osql/sqlcmd/SSMS)?  Can you post the code that it is trying to execute when you get the error "Could not find stored procedure 'k'."?  you can double-click on the error message in the results pane to
go directly to the code that is hitting the error if you're using SSMS.
Here is one suggestion to get around the error if using osql/sqlcmd:

    Hi,
Did it work correctly before when logging in with domain user account? If so, please try opening Control Panel > Credential Manager and remove the cached credential entry of the Outlook account, and then restart Outlook to test the issue again.
    See:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2762344/en-us
Please also try logging into your email account from webmail access to see if there is any error.
Please let me know the result.

  • NTP BUG

    Dear all,
Since Windows 2008 we had a bug with the PDC and ntp service.
Migrated thru R2, 2012 adn now 2012 R2 I must fix this NTP probleme as we have regularly many probleme with the time driffting on the different dc in the domain (dfs sccm abd other services get hit regularly)
I am not able to get the PDC set on a NTP sync, whatever command i try.
At first the PDC wanted to ajust on another secondary dc, after hours of try i finaly reset this situation by getting him (not wanted) to ajust on cmos.
Here si what I last tried:

The two dbdc have the same problem, cannot get them to sync with the pdc (they are VM NOT sync with the host).
Please asssit asap, I am open and want to get around this.
I also have used Windos time agent v 4.0 that tell me if a ajust manually my PDC that I have about 14 sec delay from 0.ch.pool.ntp.org..... witch is od as the manual time is correct.....
I have also checked the regedit.....
    Any ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you all for your help

  • ACS Migration from 4.1.1.23 to 5.2

I need to upgrade my ACS for windows 4.1.1.23 to 5.2 as we have come across the windows 2008R2 AD problem. Now reading the migration document it says I need  to go to at least 4.1.1.24 first which will not be a problem, then I need a migation server, so that means I need another ACS server as the migration server.
As I already have 2 ACS servers could I use one of them as the Migration server, ie take it out of production?

    Hello,
The migration utility can only be executed on an ACS for Windows server as direct access to the Windows OS is needed (RDP connection is not supported for the migration procedure. Direct access to the server is needed).
If you have two ACS servers and one of them is an ACS for Windows you might want to take it out of production and run the migration.bat file on it. It will come up with the CMD windows that will prompt you for the details needed during the migration process.
Your statement is completely valid and should be a good approach in order to migrate your ACS 4.x database to ACS 5.x.
    Hope this clarifies it.
    Regards.

  • ZLM 7.3 on ESXi 4.0

Just curious to see if anyone has set this up ? I'm having time sync issues with my Primary. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this issue.
I've followed VMware kb with no success. Funny thing is ndsrepair -T reports no sync issues. However, iMonitor indicates major issues.

  • Restarting Time Service remotely on several macs

    Hi,
i am realizing NTP problems with 10.4 and 10.3 which means the clients tend to have another time then provided by the ntp-server.
For 10.3 this seems to be related with the buggy System-Preferences in general, as opening & closing the lock solves the issue and the clock is synced again.
Now i am wondering if there is a more advanced method to restart the time-service in 10.3, 10.4 and in best case 10.5 to avoid such problems in the future.
I could define a launchd agent in each client but it looks like
    SystemStarter -d restart "Network Time"
does not work on all osx-versions.
On the other hand i am thinking about implementing an ARD-task.
So lets do a brain-storming on how to restart the time-service on 10.3 up to 10.5 using a clever solution.
    Any ideas ?
    Best regards
    fidel

    Hi BDAqua,
well i could check that but somehow i don't think this fix will be a permanent one.
Basically i guess restarting the service in a loop is the best way to be sure we are in sync.
Maybe i should just write an applescript/shellscript which checks for the os-version and depending on the reply start a matching command to restart it.
NTP in general isn't a problem with all
our Windows & Linux boxes - only the Macs with 10.4 and older cause problems

  • 12.3(4)JA and 60 AP limit for WDS

I have just upgraded my AP's to 12.3(4)JA and notice that my AP I am using for WDS only supports 60 AP's now for Wireless domain services. Before I was able to have more than 60 managed by this AP. Has Cisco configured WDS so no more than 60 can authenticate to the WDS AP?
I believe this is what is happening. After 60 AP's have authenticated, no more are supported.
    Anyone else seeing this?
    Thanks
    Don Hickey

    Ok,
I downgraded to the previous version of IOS and all my AP's are back now being able to authenticate.
I looked at the release notes and now where could I find that a hard limit had been set for the amount of AP's a WDS AP could manage.
Also - The NTP problems mentioned in another post are not documented either. When you make a change like going from NTP to SNTP, that should be something that is documented also. The last thing we need is gotcha's.
Finally, all my other cisco equipment uses NTP, why make a change like this to make the AP's unique to everything else I own?
    Thanks
    Don Hickey

  • Printing problems on Server 2008R2 - Server 2012R2

    Hi,
We have troubles with Firefox and printing pages.
First i want to say i have already tried all this steps:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-printing-problems-firefox
    Let me explain my problem:
In a TerminalServer Session i want to print a website from firefox.
Sending the print job in Firefox works without error reports, but then the printer "Data" lamp is blinking and the printer Says proccessing.
First i thought the printer has been broken but then i tried this on 6 other printers in our company.
    Printers: HP, Sharp, Brother, Develop.
Every Printer has the same problem. No one could print anything anymore. I had to turn off the printers to get them working again.
Resetting the about:config -> print_printers was not working, after this the printer was printing one Job then the problem was there again.
I also have deleted the profile in AppData, but this has not resolved the problem.
So can you please tell me what the problem is?

    Hi,
The Dump File has abaout 290mb, what should i do with that file?
The Machines are running on 2 different Hyper-V 2012R2 Hosts,(1 HP Server and 1 Supermicro Server, Intel Xeon 2620V2) the latest Integration Services Drivers on the guest machines are up to date.
    This is the printing Problem:
Firefox sends the Webpage to the Printer. After a short time the printing Job is cleared from the list of actual Jobs.
The Printer Says now he got a Job an says "Processing...", well.. this happens by every printer in our Company.
Only turning off the Printer and on again makes the Printer working again to print anything from other programs.
At the moment where someone sends a print Job from Firefox (Problem exists only on TerminalServers 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2.) to any Printer, the Printer must be restarted to work again.
    Printing from Server 2003R2 works.

  • Server 2008R2 mapping to shared folders fails users of Windows 8.1 but seems OK on Windos 8.0 and no problems for Windows 7

Having read what I could from the related questions, the answers still elude me.  This issue apparently is specific to Windows 8.1.
    First, a little background.
1:  The server is not on a domain,  The system runs Server 2008-R2 standard with all folders shared across a standard "Workgroup" type network.  They would prefer to
    leave this layout intact.
2:  The shared folders are nothing but Data files.  There are no active system folders or anything used in an "active" environment.  They are mostly Word doc, excel
files, pdf, txt, etc.  However, due to the requirements of the software that needs to access these files, they Must
reside on a mapped network drive letter. Nothing else works due to the way the SQL database program stores the reference points back to the data.
I have had some success using what amounts to a “simulated” mapping using  WebDAV to access the server.  But access speed is a lot slower ad file size is limited.
3:  The system has been configured as-is for the past 3 years with Users all on Windows 7 x64 (mixed OS, some Home Premium, some Professional) and the only problems that come up are when
access is through an ISP that blocks port 445.  This was the original reason for finding a WebDAV/Cloud method just for those Users since they were unable to Map drives to anything on the Office Servers from their Home Internet even when using a VPN.
When Windows 8.0 became the only version available, I added a few users whose new laptops came with 8.0 from the vendors.  While there were a very few minor problems, for all practical
purposes, I was still able to provide access to the mapped folders.
As the Windows 8.1 roll-out progressed, some users were successfully upgraded while others  are still stuck in Windows 8.0.  The issues with this seem to be hardware related and vary
depending on the Make and model of the laptop.  I have been assured that eventually all of these will be able to advance to 8.1.  But this delay has given me an excellent mixed OS environment for testing.
On the users who have not yet purchased new equipment and who are still using Windows 7.  There has been no change.  Their drive mapping is stable and they can always connect as usual.
Those blocked from lack of port 445 or still blocked.  Systems inside the Office and those with ISP's who allow port 445 can use all mapped drives as normal.
Users who had Windows 8.0 and who have not yet been able to upgrade to 8.1 also have been unaffected.  Same results as Windows 7.
Users who got the Windows 8.1 upgrade as well as those that came factory loaded with Windows 8.1 seem to be a never-ending list of problems.  The ones that came native with 8.1 are worst
of all.  The list of error codes runs through everything that has to do with “communication with the server”.  As far as I have seen, this appears to be the issue.
Whether they are in the office on a wired network connection or at home on a Wi-Fi connection, the issues have the same results but the actual error codes may vary slightly.  All of
them refer back to an inability to communicate with the server.
Nothing on the server has changed in any way.  Users with Windows 7 continue to have zero problems,  Users with Windows 8.0 seem to be doing fine as well.  Only those with Windows
8.1 are affected and their problems are dramatic with everything from a total loss of drive mapping to misdirected data when the maps are active.
I have tried to make the drives automatically remap on reboot. I have tried registry modifications.  I have done everything I can think of to make a difference but the results are the same
for every system using 8.1.  The mapped drive letters invariably disappear.  Sometimes while the system is in use ( I think I have been able to trace this to times when the system enters Sleep or Hibernate) but always when the system reboots.
One detail that might point to somewhere is that the "time to connect" when mapping the drive is so long that I believe some of the original failures were due to not waiting for a
minimum of 3 or 4 minutes to give time for the Shares to show-up in order to map them.  Once the mapping is successful, the file access speed seems normal.  But invariably, the drive becomes "unmapped" repeatedly each day.
I know this was a long question but I have tried to provide every possible detail for anyone who has experienced events like this who may already have a solution.  I would even be glad
to purchase a 3rd party application if that is what it takes to get this to work.  My next planned effort is to try using Server 2013 but I am afraid that might open another can of worms for those who still use Windows 7.
I have also been told that this is in some way related to the push to "Cloud" support in Windows 8.1 OS but I do not see where this would come in.  I can say that this was the
one place where things continued to work as before.  People who had Windows 8.1 and who had to use the CLOUD copies of our data are still able to connect to it with no problems.
Any suggestions appreciated.  Preferably those that would not need extensive changes to the basic network structure.  This "workgroup" consists of less than 25 users and any
extreme measures would be hard to justify

    Hi,
I sugget you try to ping server so that we can verify the connectivity.
Can windows 8.1 access Windows Server 2008R2?
Also, please check the event viewer to see if some error log appeared when the issue occurred.

  • SMB connection to Windows 2008R2 File Server Problem

Hello, I recently migrated a file server from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008R2.  Since the migration, I can no longer use our Canon multi-function printer to scan documents to a network share on the new file server.  The share has Everyone, System
and Authenticated Users set to Full control and the NTFS Security is setup for Everyone to modify.  The connection from the Canon uses SMB using a domain account called jdoe.
I wondering if the problem is related the the LAN Manger authentication level settings.  On the new file server and domain controllers it's set to Network security: LAN Manager authentication level is set to Send NTLMv2 response only\refuse LM &
NTLM.  I have setup a network capture and hope somebody can help me out with determinging the problem.
Here is the detals of the Error

It does seem possible that the NTLMv2 authentication level might be affecting things.  So I would give it a try.  It's difficult to troubleshoot from the image, but I beleive there is a flag in the negotiate response that might give you a clue.
In either case, I think your question would be better served by our networking group, rather than the group that makes the tool.  While we have some general protocol knowledge, we don't have the depth that the experts for each component would have.
If changing that setting doesn't work we can move this thread over to the right place.
    Thanks,

  • Windows Server 2012 as NTP Server for Windows Server 2008R2 Domain Controller

We have one domain with 3 Windows Server 2008R2 DC's. Our Edge router is configured to get the time from the internet, and was our timesource for the PDC emulator. But lately we have migrated our major routers to Cisco IOS15, and now the timeservice on the
PDCe is unable to fetch the time. This is a known bug, as you can read here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ja-JP/b16de048-8642-4799-b85a-ad092e17dd47/windows-server-2012-ntp-version-compatibility
Now I've found out that Windows Server 2012 does sync with the router. That's our DirSync server, and is in the same VLAN as our DC's. So I thought: I'll set up the Windows Server 2012 as new timeserver, so our PDCe can sync with that server. (Compony
policy is that DC's don't talk to the internet). Everything seems alright.
    I've set:
    w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:<IP of router>,0x8 /syncfromflags:manual
    w32tm /config /reliable:yes
    Changed the registry with:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CC\SERVICES\W32TIME\TIMEPROVIDERS\NTPSERVER - Enabled:1
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CC\SERVICES\W32TIME\Config - AnnounceFlags:A
And stopped and started the W32Time service. I can see that the Windows 2012 server is fetching the correct time, and checked with NBTSTAT -NA that it's listening on port 123.
But our PDCe doesn't sync. (also changed the config so it has the 2012 server as timesource). Get the EventID 47:
Time Provider NtpClient: No valid response has been received from manually configured peer <w2012server> after 8 attempts to contact it. This peer will be discarded as a time source and NtpClient will attempt to discover a new peer with this DNS
name. The error was: The peer is unreachable.
    What more can I try?

It only shows me the 3 DC's:
    DC04.domain.local *** PDC ***[[::1]:123]:
        ICMP: 0ms delay
        NTP: +0.0000000s offset from DC04.domain.local

            RefID: W8D-VW-DC04.domain.local [10.x.x.x]
            Stratum: 2
    Warning:
Reverse name resolution is best effort. It may not be
correct since RefID field in time packets differs across
NTP implementations and may not be using IP addresses.

  • How to diagnose NTP server problem during boot-up?

We're having a problem on our campus network where Macs aren't able to use the time.apple.com NTP server to correct the time during boot-up. Once the user logs in, open the Date & Time pref pane causes the time to be corrected.
I've noticed this problem for quite a while but it's really been just a minor inconvenience. Then some users started using Boot Camp and it became a bigger inconvenience because their Mac time is wrong by 4 hours when they return to OS X from Windows XP. It has now become something that we need to address because we have set up a lab with iMacs all configured with Boot Camp and set up to authenticate off of our Active Directory server, which requires that the time be correct on the iMacs when the user tries to log in.
We'd like to monitor the network traffic on Mac during boot-up to see if we can figure out why this is happening. My person theory is that something that the network admins have the network configured to do when it first sees a new computer is causing enough of a delay in the DHCP process that the Mac doesn't have a network connection when the NTP server call would normally be made. The college has a DSL line that is not part of our network and NTP server time correction works correctly on it.
We're looking for the best way to capture the activity on the Mac and the network traffic at boot-up. Here are the things that we're looking into.
    1) Verbose mode - Interesting looking but it goes by pretty quickly and I don't have time to read all of that info. Is this recorded in a log automatically somewhere or is there a way to capture this info?
    2) Single user mode - I haven't been able to determine whether the NTP server call should have occurred by the time I get a prompt in Single User Mode. If so, is there a command I could use here that would give me a dump of activity and network traffic up to this point?
    3) I have Interarchy which will let me record network traffic but as far as I can tell there's isn't a way to use this feature during boot-up. Am I wrong about that?
    4) Someone suggested using Ethereal which appears to require Fink when installed. I can't tell if this will work during boot for if it's an app that I can only run after logging in (like Interarchy). Does anyone know how this works?
    Any suggestions would be welcomed.
    -McD-

Turns out it was a network timing issue. The DHCP server wasn't providing the IP address quick enough (never figured out why, though).
