2009 iMac does not have 10.10 Yosemite functionality

I have a 27" iMac built in 2009.
I just upgraded to Yosemite and it seems my mac cannot perform half the functions available. I am only assuming it is due to the age of the machine.
My airdrop does not work, the mirroring of ipad 2 via quicktime movie does not work (nor does my iphone 5)
I cannot see iMessage on the mac.
The only one that seems to have worked is the making a phone call from safari.

I got iMessage going and mirror on iPhone (only) eventually not sure what happened, may have been an update?
something else that has been bugging me was iPad Safari keeps reloading page when ever you flick between tabs. scrapped it last night and using Puffin for free now. Seems great, very very fast loading :-)

Launch Keychain Access and click on Login in the left hand pane and then on Passwords. Next do search for Apple in the search field at the top and click on Apple ID Authenicication in the list that comes up. That will give you the ID no. and password.

How can I record a cassette on CD? New 27 inch iMac does not have mini plug/mic input

I want to transfer music from a cassette to a CD using my new iMac but the iMac does not have a mini plug input for a mic. I understand that I need to get an adaptor to use a USB port. I bought a Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adaptor and tried to use it. All the sound came in on the left channel, the sound level was very high and could not be adjujsted down, and was very distorted. After about 5 minutes of trying to adjust, my iMac showed a dialog that said It was having a kernnel panic! I discontinued trying and returned the Syba. Can anyone recommend an adaptor that will work with the iMac and Toast Spin Doctor?

First Gen iMac does not have a airport card installed. How do I install one?

I purxhased a ist Generation iMac G5 on ebay and they don't come with a airport card installed. I would like to add it now. The bracket is there but it doesn't look like anything else is. How do I install an express card in this machine, and how does the antennae look like if there is one there.

Some Blu rays and DVDs come with digital copies and you inset them into the dvd drive and it downloads the movie to itunes and then you can put them on any iDevice. The new iMac does not have a dvd or disc drive. What can I do?

You will either need to borrow or purchase an external DVD drive, or if you have access to another computer that has a DVD drive you may be able to use Remote Disk:

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
          Allow Plug-ins
Then click
          Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:

If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

See the confirmation email or covering letter to obtain the serial number. If you have lost it, contact the supplier.

My Yosemite 10.10.1 OS does not have a Handoff check box

I have downloaded Yosemite 10.10.1 onto my mid 2011 iMac but it does not have a Handoff check box in GENERAL. How can I get this system to use Handoff?

It should load/install on your iMac since it supposedly meets the Hardware requirements of Mid/late 2007 or newer, but you might not have access to some Features that require newer models like:
    Handoff and Instant Hotspot
    AirDrop
    AirPlay Mirroring
    Power Nap

You need to find out what video out you have on your iMac, and what kind of video inputs there are on your TV.
It will help to know exactly what model iMac and exactly what make/model TV you have.
Depending on the exact model iMac you have, it may have miniVGA, miniDVI, miniDisplayPort or Thunderbolt output. Your TV may have composite, S-video, component, DVI, VGA or HDMI inputs. Once you confirm what kind of ports your iMac and TV have, then we can probably suggest the correct cable or adapter so you can connect them to each other.

There is not even any iPhoto program available on the application store. Any suggestion on how to solve this annoyance?

Not true. Apple has removed both Apps from App Store so you cannot buy them anymore. But if you have any of these Apps already purchased in the past, then you can still download them on your Mac.

Open App Store, sign in with your Apple ID and go to Purchases tab. If you see iPhoto app listed there close down the App Store and do this steps as this is what worked for me:
Open Finder and go to Applications folder.
Locate iPhoto app
Drag iPhoto app from your Applications folder to Trash (NOTE: Do not emptied Trash yet)
Open App Store app and navigate to Purchases tab.
Click on Install button which is next to the iPhoto app (on the right hand side).
Once iPhoto is downloaded again, test it if its working for you. If all is ok, you can remove your Trash.
