2009 MacBook Air 2.13GHz says "Wi-Fi: No hardware installed"

So recently my 2009 13' MacBook Air has begun to give the No hardware installed on the WiFi. I am currently on Mavericks and have a couple extra airport cards lying around. So out of curiosity i tried to replace it with an airport card that came out of a functional unit and the no hardware installed still comes up. Is it because of a lack of drivers? Or is it the flex cable that is under the battery that connects to the board that causes this?

Did you try resetting SMC before adding other cards.

My disk will not install adobe onto my air as they say apple do not support microdot?

It may be worth saying, though you have probably figured it out now, that Mac don't run Windows apps and Windows doesn't run Mac apps. So if you go between them there is every chance that you will have to buy all of your apps again - if they are available on the new computer. This is a big deal and the cost of this should be budgeted in.

Early 2009 MacBook Air. On startup no keyboard or mouse me to login. Neither is the USB working so I cannot use an external mouse or keyboard either. If I keep restarting the machine suddenly sometime I get mouse and keyboard control and I am able to login and work. After sometime though mouse and keyboard Control is lost again and the machine hangs.
Lately another problem has cropped up. Now the machine starts up and seems to work for longer time but I have no 0 key and USB everything else is fine.

  • Mid 2009 MacBook Air - Most navigation freezes after reboot, fixed after hibernate

On my Mid 2009 MacBook Air, at some point after upgrading to 10.8.2 (not sure if it is directly related), a strange behavior started:
Boots up normally, but then most navigation is frozen.
Mouse cursor moves fine, but can't "click" anything.
Tab and Return keys work, which I can use w/ power button to select restart or shutdown.
Other keys work, somehow got to spotlight window one time and was able to type search term and hit Return
Dash menu won't slide up when I move cursor to bottom, as it normally does
Every once in awhile everything works fine after a restart, maybe 1 out of 25 times
Problem exists even in Safe Boot
Temporary workaround:  I have noticed the problem is magically fixed after a hibernate, until the next shutdown.  So after restart I close my MacBook to force a hibernate, reopen once I see the white light flashing, and then everthing is fine.  So far this workaround consistently works.  I rarely shut down by MacBook under normal conditions so I'm certainly not dead in the water, but I would like to get this thing figured out if possible.
Other data, and what I've tried so far:
Searched to find others that might have had this problem and already determined a fix, didn't find any
Logged in as different user (Guest), problem still existed
Nuked all the apps that were automatically loading at startup, didn't help
Tried Safe Boot, problem sitll existed
Used Disk Utility to Verify Disk, no problems found
    Reloaded 10.8.2, didn't help
Loaded 10.8.2 supplemental update, didn't help
No new apps loaded within last few months
    Not running AV software
Unfortunately I don't have Time Capsule set up
I have about 300 lines from my System Log that captures a Restart after which the problem existed, immediately followed by a Hibernate after which the problem was fixed.  Would it be appropriate for me to paste it in here?  I'm not knowledgeable enough to troubleshoot through the System Log.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Rob

It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.

  • Mavericks on mid 2009 MacBook Air ?

    Hello everyone,
I have a mid 2009 MacBook Air (2MB Ram, 128 GB HD), running Snow Leopard. I am wondering if I should upgrade to Mavericks, or if I should just stay put with SL. Has anyone with the same or a similar computer upgraded, and if so, can you tell me about your experience?
    Thanks!

    Astute question.
I upgraded my girlfriend’s MacBook from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and it slowed down.  It had 2 GB of RAM.  I then upgraded her RAM to 8 GB and it cut the boot time by a factor of three.  So the memory size matters.  Unfortunatly you cannot upgrade the RAM in a MBA.
I would upgrade the operating system only when you find you need to.  Each new OS version tends to demand more memory.  When there are new applications that demand a new OS that may be a time to upgrade.  If that time should come you need not upgrade all the way to Maveicks.

  • HT1115 Separate mouse button on 2009 macbook air is clicking on left hand side and seems to sit slightly higher than right?

Hi, i have a 2009 Macbook air, it has developed the problem above. Although it is the 2009 model it remained sealed and boxed until february last year,it has not had that much use so i am surprised that it had developed a problem after less than 1 years use.

    James,
Sorry I am so lengthy. The problem is that with the technical support guy on line, when the Mouse button 4 event occurred I described to the tech that I was pushing and pulling the mouse from the back end to avoid touching the buttons on the side and every time I rolled the mouse a few inches forward the dashboard assigned to mouse button 4 appeared and next when I rolled it back the dashboard disappeared, I rolled it forward and it reappeared and so on. Then the tech wanted me to click on the apple and go into system preferences and as my cursor touched the file menu to get to the preferences that menu dropped without me left clicking the mouse. As I passed over edit and view they just dropped down.
What do you make of that? I am presently running OSX leopard without my printer and scanner installed. If I see no problem in two days, I will plug in the printer and install it. Then after that the scanner and see if the problem happens. I will follow your suggestions about relearning the mouse though.

  • How do I monitor CPU temperature on a 2009 MacBook Air Lion

My beloved 2009 MacBook AIr is freezing up.  I think it is overheating.  How can I monitor the CPU temp to see if this is the problem?
The Apple Store folk thought the SSD drive has gone bad, but they wanted $799.00 to replace it.  I bought a new 2013 MacBook Air, but returned it because the screen had a purplish haze to it and the contrast was poor (to my eyes).  I love my 2009 MacBook Air screen, so I want to fix it.

Download from the Internet iStat pro or Temperature Monitor from the Bresink web site.

I like IStat pro because it also displays the fan speed.
    Ciao.

  • My macbook air keeps on saying Microsoft windows are not supported on os x...what do i do?

my macbook air keeps on saying that windows does not support OS X
    what do i do?

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
         1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows
XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  For Boot Camp
4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow
instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on
installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and
installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the
computer into OS X or Windows.
         2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software
virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
             with OS X.
         3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,
or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that
enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
         4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows
applications without having to install Windows.  The
Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
         5. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such
as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
             Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech Labs- Virtualization Benchmarks, January 2013 | MacTech for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Benchmarks of all of the above except Crossover can be found in Benchmarking Parallels, Fusion, and VirtualBox Against Boot Camp - The Mac Observer. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Which 2009 Macbook Air or 2007 MacBook Pro 15 work better with CS5 Design Premium?

My father and boss has offered to buy my the upgrade and give me one of his older Macs to get me to switch to Macs and be able to read another employees InDesign Files.   I also use very large photoshop files for digital scrapbooking.
    Option 1: 2009 MacBook Air 128 Gig w/ 2 Gig memory
Option 2:  2007 (I think that year) MacBook Pro 15 3,1 which has 2.4 GHZ Core 2 Duo. 150 HD, 4 Gig RAM (He mentioned this one may be difficult to set up 64 bit on it.)
    I have a wifi network.
I do need to store a lot of data on the computer as resource files.
    Funds are low.
Thanks for your help. I don't know too much about using a Mac to run this Suite.

    Bob,
Thanks so much for your reply.
I thought so, but my Dad/Boss is not making this offer cross-platform. If I want the upgrade I have to switch to Mac. I have to do it for work.
About the 64 bit...being difficult to set up on this,
If I understand you correctly, this is less important than having more RAM.
I apologize as my knowlege is limited in this area.
Thanks again for your quicky reply!

The seller was remiss in not properly preparing the Mac for sale. That task has now fallen to you. You will encounter continual problems until you perform the following. Ignore references to DVD since the MacBook Air has none.
If you are unable to do that contact the seller and request instructions, or arrange for its return and a refund of your costs.
Refer to What to do before selling or giving away your Mac
If you enabled FileVault, disable it in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
"Deauthorize" your iTunes account. Same for Audible if you have one.
System Preferences > iCloud > de-select "Back to My Mac" and "Find my Mac".
Sign out of iCloud. Select "Delete from Mac" when it appears.
Next: Remove all your personal information by completely erasing the Mac's internal storage.
If your Mac shipped with a grey System Install DVD, start your Mac with that disc inserted in the optical drive while holding the c key to boot from it instead of its internal volume, which should be erased before selling it.
If your Mac did not ship with discs, boot OS X Internet Recovery:
using three fingers press and hold the following keys: ⌘(command), option, and R.
With a fourth finger press the power button to turn on the Mac.
Keep the other three fingers where they are until you see the "spinning globe" icon.
This method forces the Mac to download its originally installed OS from Apple's servers, which will not require an Apple ID to install.
Remove any Open Firmware password if you created one: select Firmware Password Utility from the Utilities menu and remove it.
Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Remove any partitions you may have created.
Select the Mac's hard disk icon, then select the "Erase" tab.
Select the "Security Options" button and erase the disk.
The more "securely" you erase the disk, the longer it will take.
The fastest method is sufficient since all but the most expensive techniques and equipment will be able to recover securely erased data.
When it finishes, quit Disk Utility.
Select Install Mac OS X from the Utilities menu.
An Apple ID will not be required. If a prompt for an Apple ID appears, return to Step 5.
Do not create any user accounts.
When it finishes, shut down the computer.
If you want to install the bundled apps that were included with your Mac, restart by using your Applications DVD if one was included, and install the bundled apps. Apps bundled with newer Macs that shipped without discs cannot be transferred. Its new owner must purchase them from the Mac App Store using his or her own Apple ID.
If the Mac is being sold to someone outside the family consider the following additional information:
System Install DVDs that came with your Mac should remain with it forever, and must be included with the sale.
Consider including your AppleCare certificate if you bought it, printed documentation, even the box if you still have it. AppleCare stays with the equipment and is transferable.
Execute a bill of sale showing the Mac's serial number.
Once no longer in your possession, remove the Mac from your devices in My Support Profile.

  • Hello i have a problem with my MacBook Air they wiped out the operating system then installed windows 7 how do i re install the apple firmware

Hello i have a problem with my MacBook Air they wiped out the operating system then installed windows 7 how do i re install the apple firmware please help

That is incorrect. You can install Windows on a Mac, any Mac, without having OS X installed on it.
To the OP you will need the original system reinstall USB thumb drive that came with your Mac Air if it is older than a Mid 2011 model or if it is newer than a Mid 2011 model you use the Online Internet recovery system.
If you don't have that original reinstall USB thumb drive you can order one from Apple for a small charge. Call Apple and ask to speak to someone Specifically to order a Replacement USB system reinstall thumb drive for your model year. You will need the serial number of that Air. It is etched into the bottom of the case.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
OS X has got its own security systems, so you don't need any antivirus. Furthermore, they will only slow down your computer. If you want more information, read > http://www.thesafemac.com/mmg
If you want an antivirus, install ClamXav, but you don't need an antivirus
