2009 Toshiba 40 inch LCD TV

I am having a problem with the television obviously every time I shut off the TV when I turn it back on I have to start over on all the programming it is insane after I do that the television works fine until I shut it off and it loses its whole memory. Any answers?

Toshiba 32AV500U TV. Actually Comcast came out and replaced the cable box and spent about an hour trying to get it to work right but could not. I don't even use the TV's remote I use the cable boxes remote only. What I do is leave the cable box on and just hit the on off button on the top of the TV. But when I turn the TV back on the cable box's remote will change the channel with the remotes channel up or down button, but the picture looses the full screen view, and when I press the Guide button on the cable box's remote nothing happens. When I unplug the cable box then plug it back in and wait for it to reset, then the full screen picture is back and the remote works properly. I am using an HDMI cable from the cable box to the TV, and also have comcast's Wi Fi box, was thinking about trying other input cables like the color stream or whatever other inputs I have on the TV but not sure if it would help. I bought the TV in 2008 and when comcast said something about maybe having to update the firmware I thought maybe that's what I might need to do to have Comcast's new type box work. But I really have no idea what to do or how to do it. Any ideas ?

your 13-inch Mid 2009 MacBook Pro requires 1066 MHz RAM, but you have 1333 MHz RAM installed. Try replacing the 1333 MHz RAM with 1066 MHz RAM — Macs can be picky about the RAM which they find acceptable.

  • Macbook to 32-inch LCD HDTV with VGA...odd problem

My TV is a Toshiba 32in LCD HDTV. I currently hook my Macbook up via VGA. The quality in general is superb. Picture is sharp and saturated. BUT...
When I'm watching a movie (stored on my macbook) on the TV, a rectangular portion of the top right corner will occasionally appear to lag behind the rest of the movie by a fraction of a second. It almost looks like a "picture-in-picture," with the top right corner simply being delayed. Even more strangely, this only lasts for a moment, as the lagging section slowly shrinks until it disappears entirely. A minute or so will pass, and it will happen again.
I've noticed that it normally happens most when there is a lot action in that corner of the frame.
Is this some kind of refresh rate problem? I honestly am clueless. What can I do?

My parents have a 37-inch Toshiba, I have experienced the same problem when watching movies via the Dell laptop. It happens both in VLC player and Windows Media Player, and I am using a VGA cable to connect to the TV. The problem was still there when we used an S-video cable. It sounds like it might be something about these Toshiba TVs.

  • 42 inch LCD TV loses sound on commercials

I have a 42 inch LCD Toshiba TV 42LX177 that over the last three months loses sound on commericals on certain Time Warner cable channels.  No other TVs in the house have this issue and TWC has verified the cable feed is fine.  I have replaced the same cable feed with another TV and it works fine. I have also changed different audio settings on TV and got latest Samsung cable box and still has issue.  It has to be a TV issue.  Please HELP!

Try resetting the TV to factory defaults.
MENU > Setup > Installation > System Status > System Information > Factory Defaults.
More information can be found starting on page 49 of your user's guide.
If that doesn't help, it might require servicing.

2009 24-inch iMac 3.06GHz (EMC no. 2267).   I don't get any audio when connecting my Sony HD TV to my iMac via mini DisplayPort. Is there a fix or hardware upgrade?  I'm using a Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable w/ audio support.

You can connect the audio from your iMac to your TV using a mini jack (like headphones plug) to rca (regular red and white audio connectors used on every TV,DVD, etc) cable.
On your TV, you need to be able to set the audio for the HDMI input you will use to "analog" and connect the rca end of the cable to the analog inputs on your TV.

  • Will windows 8 work on a late 2009 27 inch iMac

    I have a late 2009 27 inch iMac,  3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM
I recently upgraded to Yosemite, 10.10.2
I have previously run Windows XP in Bootcamp
I need to upgrade my Windows because my banking software upgrade no longer works with XP
    The questions:
Am I limited to which Windows I can get, 7.8. 8.1?  Will any of these work?
A few weeks ago I used a link I came across while browsing the Apple support page on this topic, it analyzed my machine and recommended that I get Windows 7, 32 bit
But I see that the new Bootcamp 5.1 will only run 64 Bit
So which Windows should I buy,?   7,8,8.1?   and 32 or 64 Bit?
And what Windows drivers might I have on my machine with Yosemite or be able to upgrade to?
Windows is not cheap, so I do not want to buy something that will not work

Windows 8 will not work on your iMac. Please refer to the Boot Camp system requirements, System requirements to install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support, to see which Windows will work with Boot Camp and your computer. With respect to drivers, Boot Camp Assistant will provide a link to download the correct drivers.
Alternatively, instead of using Boot Camp, you can use a virtual machine such as Parallels or Fusion to install any version of Windows on your computer. Virtual hardware and drivers are used if using a virtual machine.

  • Font smoothing issues with Samsun 23 inch LCD

I am having a font smoothing issue with my MacBook and my Samsung LN-S2352W 23 inch LCD (http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/LCDTV/LNS2352WXXAA.asp). I am using the mini-DVI to VGA adapter and the plugging that into the VGA port of my LCD. It doesn't matter which app I run, but as long as it has fonts, they come out blurry, hazy, colors bleed, etc.
I have played with the font smoothing settings and that has not helped at all. I have heard of TinkerTool and will try it to see if it makes any difference, but am not expecting much.
I also have a PC running Windows Vista and I connected it to the VGA port of my LCD. Wow...the difference in picture quality was astounding. I'm ******. I want my MacBook to look that sweet on my LCD.
Anyone have any thoughts? Can this be fixed?

TinkerTool didn't make any difference for me. I played around with it and found that there was no improvements using it or disabling font smoothing.
I have watched DVD's on this LCD being played with my MacBook. I have seen 2MB+ full screen digital pictures. Both the DVD and digital pics look absolutely amazing on it.
It's only the fonts that appear blurry or in some areas they appear to have a shadown to the right. This happens with any text that appears in every app.
Keep in mind too, Windows Vista looks perfect on this display, but my prized MacBook looks really sub-par.
I'm not quite following you on changing the display preferences to change to pixel size to that of the MacBook...

  • Toshiba 19" LCD TV

I purchased a Toshiba 19" LCD TV on Dec. 10, 2008.  Being that the item was not in stock, I arranged for an in-store pick-up on Dec. 17.  I picked up the tv up on Dec. 19.  Two days later I
saw a Best Buy flyer stating that the set I had just picked up was reduced by $50.  I contacted the store and all I had to do was bring in my receipt to receive the $50 credit. I do not deal with Best
Buy alot; however, I have no complaint with the how they have handled the few problems I have
    had.

    Some things I would check.
    1. Enough gap if hung on wall.
    2. If in cabinet make sure sufficient room for air flow.
    3. Not familiar with Hathway but if it is cable or satellite have them come and make sure it is earth grounded.
    4. Check settings and make sure it is not on Dynamic or some other Torch Mode as this can cause over heat.(Had a  plasma  TV panel go out in 22 months later found out that this caused short life).
    5. Make sure it is not in front of a window where direct sunlight comes in since heat will kill TV.
    6. Keep ventilation holes in TV clean.
    7. Make sure you are using a surge protector.
As you can see most causes of Motherboards are caused from heat. It can be other things like a loose connection but TV repair company should have checked this.

  • Portege R500 connection to Toshiba 19AV505D LCD TV

I want to connect my Portege R500 laptop to a Toshiba 19AV505D LCD TV.
I have tried using a VGA to HDMI cable and altering the screen resolution to 800x600 and 16bit colour but it still won't recognise the tv.
    Any ideas?
TheTV manual says use a DVI to HDMI cable and I tried this first with a VGA converter (as there is no DVI socket on the R500) but it didn't work either.
Would a SCART to VGA cable work?

What VGA->HDMI adapter are you using?
What version HDMI does it support?
Maybe the TV requires HDMI v1.2 or v1.3 (check the users manual)

  • Gradient banding in Samsung 20 inch LCD

Now idk where to begin, ok here's the best info i can give
I just assembled a new pc for graphic work/budget gaming 2 days ago:
    intel core i3 530 mhz
    2 gb ddr3 ram 1333 mhz
    xfx nvidia geforce gt 240 1gb ddr5
    windows 7 ultimate 32-bit
Samsung Myst Eco B2030 widescreen 20 inch lcd monitor
Now when i opened an old psd which contained some brushing and gradients, i could see bands in the gradients, even the wallpaper i put had bands on it. I even noticed that everything on my lcd looks hellish sharp, and when i force my head really close, i can see small square pixels all over the l cd. Is it due to the analogue output(VGA)?, should i switch to DVI?
I use 1600x900 res (native) at 32 bit
Then to test whether all gradients look the same, i opened a new ps document and made a black to white gradient, but it was smooth, there were no bands in there. But when i made a simple white box, applied full gaussian blur, and zoomed in around 2000% i could see the gradual bands again though not as bad as in the colored psd. It seems the problem only happens when i give a glow, or blurs. Then i played Splinter Cell Conviction (everything Maxed out) and again  i could see gradient bands forming up in dark places, like when i die and a small cutscene is played, i could see gradient bands on the 4 corners. What could be the problem, is it the card? the lcd? i am new to lcd monitors so i dont know how to calibrate or whatever.
Please check if anyone else can see the bands on their lcd?

Regarding calibrating your display, it's not strictly necessary, but you did mention "oversaturation" in a post above.  It's certainly your call whether you want to make your color-managed applications put out calibrated color.
Re switching to DVI, that's falling out of favor...  How are you currently cabled to your monitor?  HDMI?  VGA?  You've mentioned both.  DVI would CERTAINLY be better than VGA.
This "Coarse effect" you speak of...  Are you talking about jaggy fonts, or what?  If so, do you have Font Smoothing enabled?
When I first switched from CRTs to LCDs (in 2004) I marveled that most graphics created by people using CRTs were actually butt ugly, simply because they could not see the actual image content very clearly and tended to overlook things and overcompensate for their own monitors' shortcomings.
On a good LCD using a good interface (DVI or better) you can see every pixel as a discreet element.  That's a given.
After my switch from CRT to LCD I had to reset my perceptions - I had thoughts just like yours!  After a while you start to realize that what may look oversharp and harsh to you may even still be too subtle for CRT users.  For some time there's been a mix of CRTs and LCDs in the world, though honestly lately I've started to ignore the former as they are truly a dying breed (just try to buy a new CRT monitor nowadays).  It is not wrong to concentrate solely on making graphics look good on ultra sharp LCD monitors.  Don't be too hard on yourself for what you've produced in the past, when you couldn't "see clearly" yet.
That said, I should note that there are some LCDs that are not sharp at all.  From time to time people post on this forum that they have trouble seeing the Photoshop UI elements at their fixed small size, and as you're no doubt aware now with your monitor there's really no problem seeing them on a very sharp display.
You could try taking a macro photo of what you're seeing on your display that you don't like.  Other than that it's very difficult to communicate about such issues on a forum.

  • Powerbook with Syntax Olevia 23-inch LCD TV Monitor

    Hi there,
I got a 23-inch LCD TV Monitor from Syntax Olevia and somehow it doenst work with my powerbook.
The thing is when I connected it to my windows laptop, it worked just fine, I should say perfectly instead. Then I tried it on my Powerbook 12-inch, the Mac recognized the display, there was a VGA display on but when I turned the display on, it says 'NO PC SIGNAL'. You know, I'm ****** !
I have been on the phone with Syntax Tech Support for an hour, then with Apple for another hour, they suggested me to do everything try to get it works, everything they could find, everything within thier knownledge.... COULDNT CHANGE ANYTHING!
So the last thing the Apple guy suggested me is post a topic question here, to see what everyone says and if somebody out there has got the same problem, please do reply so, even you got it worked or not, just reply so I can have some experience. It might be compatibility problem but I don't know, not with a monitor I would say.
So here the LCD name and brand:
    - Olevia 23-inch LT23HVX by Syntax.
I would appreciate for any answer, I'm looking forward to it.
    Thanks all
    Powerbook G4 12' Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Hi,
I'm not familiar with that monitor, but its resolution might be higher than your PowerBook can handle. I have a first-generation 12-inch PowerBook, and it seems that it can't run any of the Apple Studio monitors currently being sold. If that monitor can display a resolution of 1024 x 768, try that, as your PowerBook can certainly handle that resolution. Another thing to try is to see if you can find a friend or coworker who has a similar PowerBook (or any other Mac), so you can try connecting the monitor to that machine to see if there is a similar problem. If no Mac can drive it, you would probably have a good excuse for returning the monitor.
    Hope this helps,
    Ken

  • MacBook to 47 inch LCD Television

I am trying to figure a way to take what is playing (movie)on my MacBook and display it in high quality on my 47 inch LCD TV. I have the AppleTV, but can't around the syncing issue (port error) and want to figure out a way through cables to display a high quality from lets say iTunes when renting and playing a movie. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I think the picture is really pretty good. the resolution is good enough that I can easily read NYTimes sized print on my 42 inch plasma.
When I play a video file, it's about as good as standard def or maybe vhs. not great, but i'm not expecting blu-ray quality.
