200mhz fsb support

Hiya, just a quick question.
Will the K7N2-L support the 200mhz FSB athlons when they get released later on this year?
I hope that it will, as i currently have the above mentioned board with an 1700+ cpu running at 11*166fsb.

Only the new (as yet unreleased i think) delta k7n2's official support it.  However as so many people are easily reaching 200 fsb you should be able to overclock the motherboard to the chips stock speeds.  Only problem with this is if msi do not realease a bios with fsbs greater than 200 youll only be able to overclock the new athlons by the multiplier alone.

  • MSI KT6 Delta-FISR (MS-6590 v2.0) & XP3200+ Can't get 200MHz FSB

    Hi,
Having searched for this common problem I have purchased a new PSU (Antec True Power 2 550w) so I don't think it is this. The memory is meant to be compatible according to the crucial site too.
Basically I changed from an ASRock mobo (no 4 pin CPU power connector) to the KT6 to get onboard firewire. The same CPU had been working in the ASRock mobo at 200Mhz FSB with a SilentMaxx PSU (fanless +3.3v /28A, +5v/35A, +12v/16A). As I had moved the computer from the lounge to study I changed the PSU when I installed the KT6 to an Antec True 380SP (+3.3v /28A, +5v/35A, +12v/24A) to get a reduction in temperature.
The system booted with a FSB of 100Mhz. So I changed in the BIOS FSB to 200Mhz and the system wouldn't get to the XP login page. I then tried steps up from 100Mhz and got to 120Mhz. After searching here I saw the PSU issue and so changed to the SilentMaxx. This would get past the login page at 200Mhz but would crash within 2 minutes.
I then changed to an Advance PSIV-500-2 (+3.3v /30A, +5v/32A, +12v/16A). This would login at 200MHz and was stable until you did anything CPU intensive - 2 mins of divx encoding caused the crash.
So now for the Antec True Power 2, it gets past the login screen but won't load the desktop. Starting at 100Mhz I can get to 125MHz, so I'm now worse than with the original Advance PSU.
So, with the changes being seen whenever the PSU is changed the indications are that it is the PSU, but now with the new Antec True Power 2 550w I can't believe it is still that.
    Any ideas?

    Hi again.
Well I've finally got around to doing the XP repair. The good news is that the system boots and stays up under normal usage at 200MHz. The bad news is that under stress (encoding video) it reboots with the following error:
    Error code 0000000a, parameter1 ffe00124, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 804db848.
I have searched the internet and can't find any mention of '804db848' or 'ffe00124'. So am now thinking the board may be bad?
I have set my memory to CL3, with timings of 3-3-8 and voltage of 2.6v (as per manufacturer recommendations) and this memory did not cause problems on my ASRock board.
    Two things I have noticed:
    1. The case temp is very high, under idle CPU = 48C and case = 41C, under stress CPU = 58C and case = 51C. I have two 120mm case fans and the PSU has a 120mm fan too. My hard disks are 28C and 29C. When I had the ASRock board in the same case with the same fans etc it never went above 36C (which I thought was still quite high).
    2. After searching this board I found a post that stated they had success at 192MHz FSB but unstable on 200MHz (K7N board). I will now try this and kick off the video encoding again and report back.

  • O/Cing 2800 to 200Mhz FSB K7N2-L

I recently purchesed a MSI K7N2-L Delta motherboard, AMD Athlon 2800+ 333Mhz FSB Barton, 512MB Corsair Value Select PC3200 Ram, ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB, Iceberg Chipset kit, and a CoolerMaster Aero 7 Lite CPU Cooler. I was able to overclock the machine to the following without any problems:
When I try to set the FSB to a value like 195Mhz the computer will load normally, start to load Window's XP Home SP1 and restart. Other values such as 200Mhz would simply refuse to boot and hang with no video or keyboard LED's lighting up. So far I'm only able to run this setting sucessfully.
Are there any settings that I need to find or change to allow me to overclock to 200MHz FSB? Any other suggestions or help would be very very much appreciated!

  • KT3 Ultra2-C FSB support?

About 13 months ago I purchased a prebuilt PC system and made the mistake of assuming (based on the name) that the KT3 Ultra2-C (MS-6593) was similar to the rest of the KT3 Ultra2 line, which I had heard good things about, and I expected similar future processor support.  In fact if you do a Google search you will dig up some old news releases that even state that MS-6593 supports Barton CPUs.  Flash forward in time, and I discover that despite the extremely similar name, the Ultra2-C apparently does not support the newer 333 FSB CPUs.  A search on this site comes up with some posts that say this is because the Ultra2-C  doesn't even have the 1/5 divider, so the PCI speeds at 166 will be far out of spec.
Can anyone confirm if they have gotten Bartons to work with this motherboard?  Or otherwise confirm if this board is in fact lacking a 1/5 divider at 166 FSB?  Can this be fixed with a BIOS update?
The BIOS allows one to set a CPU FSB up to 200 mhz, and the board came with overclocking utilities, etc.  Speaking as an engineer myself, it is completely illogical to make a product that supports high FSB but does not have a 1/5 DIVIDER at 166!  I also can't believe a company would release a product with such a similar name yet have such critical differences in features.

    Confused and Disappointed

Yepp, it does not have the 1/5 divider, similar to the KT3 Ultra-ARU. But the Ultra-ARU is often reportet to run at FSB166, but it is not official

  • 200MHz FSB when I want 800MHz

This is probably a rather simple/stupid question but I have an 800MHz FSB P4 and 2 banks of DDR400 and therefore thought I would get a FSB of 800MHz.  However, when I check CoreCentre it records an FSB speed of 203MHz, multiplier of 13 giving the CPU speed of 2637MHz.  What am I doing wrong, if anything?

  • [VIA] highest cpu/fsb support

    I have an MSI mobo - KT4V (MS-6712) VIA KT400 chipset based
I would like to know what is the fastest cpu/fsb that can be used with this mobo.
I dont want to buy the wrong chip and have to return it because it wont work
    Some help PLEASE!!!
I THANK YOU NOW FOR ANY INPUT
P.S. KT4V is written on the box - KT4V-L is written on the sticker with the bar code thats on the box

    Hi
Here is a link to the MSI site about your motherboard.  You can use up to an Athlon 3200+ providing it has a 333fsb.  They are fairly hard to find.  As long as the cpu does not have a 400fsb, you are ok.
The -L at the end indicates that it has onboard lan.

  • KT880 Delta-FSR XP2400 266 fsb support?

Anyone know if the KT880 Delta-FSR does support my current CPU?
    AMD XP2400 266fsb
    Thanks.

Very odd chart, it shows the Duron Applebred CPU's as the only 266FSB CPU's supported. One would think that if it can use those, it could use the T-Breds and thornton's as well
This shows the board only supporting 333/400FSB

  • 200MHz K7N2G FSB Request Petition...

    Hi all,
i have recently bought an MSI K7N2G, which with the unlocked 1700TBred, on a multi of 9.5 sits at 200MHz CAS2 with my Corsair Twinx PC3200.
This is lovely - but i would love to push my memory even higher - in sync with the CPU.
I request that this post be forwarded to whoever it may concern - and humbly request they include in their BIOS the option to increase the FSB synchronously with CPU to above 200MHz.
All other nforce2 boards (namely Epox) are achieving such speeds - so we know the chipset is up to it - and i like MSIs products - this is the third MSI board i have owned - all have been solid boards.
It should be mentioned also , that due to my K7N2G-L only having passive northbridge cooling i needed to add extra cooling to the3 board - but it is 100% stable at 200MHz FSB.
So, if you agree put your name below - and lets see if MSI listen to their customers!
MSI, I'd like a BIOS release which enables me to have an FSB >200MHz.
    Signed,
    D Cooke    10/03/03

i refuse to believe it is not possible - unless MSI strayed so far away from the nforce2 design as to render it less functional?
If MSI hadnt cut corners and equipped the K7N2G-L with a northbridge fan there would be fewer instability/RMA'd boards as a result of this BIOS update request - or even with standard BIOS issues.  I have had to add extra cooling to my northbridge to acheive 200MHz with 100% stability.
Every other serious nforce2 board had 200MHz as an FSB option when it launched.  They NOW have at least 220MHz, some even as high as 250MHz.
I have owned 3 different nforce2 boards - all perform equally well - very little in it.  People will buy other makers when they know they:
    A) MSI dont listen to their customers (We're only requesting something which is available on most all competitiors.
    B) MSI cant make an enthusiasts board.
    C) MSI make boards less functional by straying away from reference designs (If that is why you cant acheive >200MHz FSB?
If someone from MSI is/has read this please drop a line to say so - at least we'll know we are reaching the people who matter.
    Thanking You

  • [nForce] K7N2GM-V not even listed on support site?

Anybody have any idea how long it takes to get a new mobo (K7N2GM-V, in this case) on the support site?  I have been waiting for weeks for even the option to look for updated BIOS, FAQs and such, but it isn't even an option in the drop-down lists.  I normally wouldn't be impatient or anything, but this board is months old now, and the Live Monitor utlility is just too irritating to me.  I'd like to see updates myself without having all the hassle.
I don't know if anyone here can nudge anyone at MSI to get the ball rolling, but it sure would help neurotics like me if the board was even listed (even if it just said it was too new to have updates yet).

Yes, I bought it new from ZipZoomFly.com.  It is jumperless.  I have done everything I can to make it work, followed the manual to the letter, and this is not by far my first build (just my first MSI board and the first system build ever that didn't work).  ZipZoomFly's tech says it doesn't support 200MHz-FSB processors, even though their listing on their site where I bought it says it does (and MSI still swears it does).  I have asked him to get the listing changed at ZZF so more people don't run into this too, and hopefully, he will get it changed.  Newegg has already changed theirs, as have all but one e-tailer I can find.  It just does not support 200MHz-FSB (which is technically 100MHz frequency in BIOS as stated above).  I have contacted MSI dozens of times already, and they swear it does support 200MHz-FSB processors (just like my old 1.4GHz AMD Athlon Thunderbird).  I have tried two boards now (bought another one from Newegg.com before I RMA'ed this one to ZZF, so my wife would have a working computer) - neither works with the Thunderbird.  The TBird works fine in the older Chaintech board.  It has to be the onboard graphics like previous posters said, which means it DOES NOT FULLY SUPPORT 200MHz-CPUs!  MSI refuses to admit this.
They skirt around the issue with stuff like "200MHz-FSB is supported" and such when I say, "is my 1.4GHz AMD Athlon Thunderbird with 200-MHz FSB supported?"  They never give me a straight answer and I now see why they haven't listed a processor support test list for it yet - they don't want to, as it might keep them from selling a few boards.  Marketing wins, and tech support plays (or maybe isn't playing) dumb.
These two will be my only two MSI boards ever.   Back to ASUS, I guess.  At least I can trust them to list accurate specs on the website and not be sneaky in email phrasing to get around issues.

  • FSB only 100 on Satellite 2410-304S

Why ist the FSB for memory only 100MHz instaed of 133MHz? The chipset i845 can handle 133. Is there any possibility to change it?

    Hi
I dont know where you found the information about 100 MHz and 133 MHz of memory FSB but this value has nothing to do with the chipset. The processor FSB supports 400 MHz.
What you can do is to use another supported memory modules.
I have found a info that these memory modules are compatible:
    PC2100 128MB (PA3126U-1M12)
    PC2100 256MB (PA3127U-1M25)
    PC2100 512MB (PA3164U-1M51)

  • Corecenter FSB Reading? Wrong? Help!

Aight i have had a long day, i just opened core center and noticed two things:
    1) My vcore is in RED and at 1.55V is tat ok?
    2) 200MHZ FSB? does that mean 400MHZ in DDR? I have it set in the bios at DDR400.
    Thanks!

    Hi
Latest versions of core center give Red at 1.55 volts, not a problem, ignore, no doubt be fixed soon.
No FSB is CPU Mhz, the stock multiplier is 10 so CPU runs at 2000 Mhz. The DDR is set as you say in bios.
    cheers

  • CL2 vs 218Mhz FSB

What do you guys think is better to have?
    CL2 RAM at 200Mhz FSB
    -or-
    CL2.5 RAM at 218Mhz FSB
Have any proof to back up your arguments?
Personally I noticed that my SiSoft Sandra scores at 218 CL2.5 are much better, however I don't think this bench takes into account the CL value hardly at all.

Good!  Now, should I pull back the other timings on the RAM as well, not to CL3 but the RAS and RasToCas etc etc, see if I can get it higher?  I tried lowering the HTT to x4 but still only got about 230 before it wouldn't even POST.  Voltage doesn't seem to matter, it's like it hits a brick wall and nothing will help it, except pulling back memory timings.
So when I lower the HTT, and up the FSB, and it locks up, what component is it that I'm maxing out?  the RAM?  The D-Led looks like this "BIOS Sign On" whatever that means.

  • [VIA Series] Inncorrect FSB issue

I have recently purchased the new PM8M-V series mobo, 1 stick of kingston KVR 512MB ddr400 RAM and a P4E 3.0Ghz 800mhz fsb processor.
After putting the pats in and setting up my system, I notice in the BIOS that the system FSB is at 200mhz. The board is supposed to be a 800/533 mhz FSB board and the RAM I have is PC3200 DDR 400 kingston RAM. The processor is a 800mhz FSB processor. Why does my BIOS show the FSB as 200Mhz? How do I get it to go to 400, 533, or 800 Mhz? The manual that came with the board is very sparse on information pertaining to configuration.
    Please help!

it is because of the QUAD PUMPED bus speed, this means, QUAD PUMPED= 200 Mhz FSBx4=800MHZ FSB speed. that simple.
and your processor speed is determined by 200mhz FSB x 15 multiplier = 3.0 Ghz

  • 975x 1333mhz support

hey guys what r the possibilities of 1333mhz processor support of 975x platinum pue  it is the 2nd most expensive msi board so it very imprtant to have 1333 mhz support for such a high end board

    Hang on a minute!
    Are we talking about 1333FSB Conroes (i.e Core2Duo E6x50) or 1333FSB Penryns (Wolfdale / Yorkfield) ?
1333FSB would be hardware overclocking for this chipset.
If we are talking about Conroe 1333FSB I can confirm that for 945GCM5-F V2 MSI had to add some resistors and bits to the PCB to make it support the hardware overclock (945GC chipset A2 stepping native FSB support is 1066FSB) that is why 1333FSB model has a stricker on the box and a different BIOS version.
If you need Penryn support I believe the VRMs must be modified but I would have no idea if P975X PUP would support that.
If you need newer CPU support best thing to do is upgrade your board and sell your old board+cpu as a kit of some kind.
    From the ASUS website you can see the support for 1333FSB on 975X is overclocking and not native;
Taken from P5W DH Deluxe FAQ

    Question
My motherboard has been listed on ASUS CPU support list as being able to support FSB1333 processors.
However, after checking Intel website, the north bridge chipset only suppose to support up to FSB1066.
Does this mean there is going to be some limitation to its FSB1333 support?
     Answer
Yes, as the FSB1333 support was implmented based on overclocking north bridge chipset from FSB1066 mode,
while chipset does not support asynchronous frequency adjustment between FSB and RAM,
the supported memory specification will differ as compare with its natively supported FSB settings, in order to keep the same FSB/RAM frequency ratio.
For P965 chipsets, under FSB1333 mode, memory can only operate under the following frequencies:
    Originally DDR2-533 will become 533MHz*1333/1066 = 667MHz
    Originally DDR2-667 will become 667MHz*1333/1066 = 833MHz
    Originally DDR2-800 will become 800MHz*1333/1066 = 1000MHz
    As for 975X chipsets:
    Originally DDR2-533 will become 533MHz*1333/1066 = 667MHz
    Originally DDR2-667 will become 667MHz*1333/1066 = 833MHz
Hence only when operate under 1333/667 mode, will the system operate under a FSB 1333 configuration without CPU and memory overclock or underclock.
It is adviceable to adjust memory timing and its supply voltage manually if desired memory frequency cannot be achieved.

  • KT3V highest stable FSB

Please, share your experiences. Give the highest FSB you've achieved with this mainboard.

This board works with dividers to estimate the PCI clock. At 182/185MHz is still the 1/5 working, so the PCI clock is way to high. I do not know, if the board has an 1/6 divider for 200MHz FSB, but I doubt it, so a lot more than 175MHz is not possible.
Another thing is, the chipset is biult to work with 166MHz not more. Especially the RAM controller (northbridge) is having a hard time with lots more than 166MHz FSB. The northbridge cooler should be pretty hot.
