2010 / 2012 coexistence

With the addition of Exchange 2013 to our environment, we need to add a new DPM 2012 server.  Are there any issues with DPM 2010 and DPM 2012 coexisting on the same domain?

Hi,
There should be no problems with DPM 2010 and DPM 2012 running at the same time in the same domain.

  • Exchange 2010 - 2003 coexistence "unable to relay"

    Hi
    I have a customer with a Exchange 2010 / 2003 coexistence.
    The Exchange 2010 has 3 CAS/HT servers.
When sending mails from 2003 to the outside world, one of the CAS/HT is giving me "unable to relay".
Right now I have removed it from the routing group connector, but do you have any ideas where to look?
    BR
    Steen

    Hello,
If there is only AD site, the receive connector is not needed.
If there are multiple AD sites, when you send message to other AD sites, the receive conenctor is needed. If you send message from exchange 2003 to exchange 2010 or exchange 2010 to exchange 2003, the routing group connector is needed.

  • External emails not received after shutdown of Exchange 2010 in coexistence with Exchange 2013

I have exchange 2013 and exchange 2010 in coexistence mode. All mailboxes have been moved to Exchange 2013 and firewall/spamfilters already pointed to Exchange 2013 CAS server. I can receive/send from and to external addresses, however when I shutted down
the Exchange 2010 all incoming external mails were not received. What could be the cause?

Start by re-checking how the device that takes the traffic from the external MX IP to internal is configured.
Sniff the traffic to ensure that it is hitting 2013 directly.

  • Outlook client requirements and Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence

    Good morning!
A question regarding Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence and the Outlook client requirement. I am upgrading and about to install Exhange 2013 into an existing Exchange 2010 Org. The current 2010 Org is patched to SP-3 and Outlook Anywhere is currently disabled.
I have Outlook clients that do not yet meet the minimun requirements for 2013 (Outlook 2007/2010). When I install my first 2013 server will it effect the current downlevel clients? The mailboxes are still in 2010 so my thoughts were since the Office upgrade
including Outlook has not yet taken place I didn't want to wait for them to at least get 2013 into the Org. The 2013 server should effect the clients until I configure the CAS on 2013 and only when they are at the proper version, is this correct? Does Outlook
Anywhere need to be first enabled and configured on the 2010 CAS before I attempt the confgiuration on the 2013 CAS? I just dont want to install 2013 and have Outlook connectivity issues right out of the gate...
    Thanks in advance!

Outlook 2007 and 2010 are supported for Exchange 2013, you just need to push out the latest patches.

If you configure the URLs properly in Exchange 2013 to URLs that point to the Exchange 2010 servers, your clients shouldn't try to talk to the Exchange 2013 server.

  • Exchange Server 2013 OAB Web Distribution Configuration in Exchange 2010 & 2013 Coexistence.

    Hi,
We have OAB Issue for Exchange 2010 Users in our Organization.
We have Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 Coexistence. While Checking in Exchange Server 2010 Server OAB properties in Org Configuration--> Mailbox-->OAB Properties -->Distribution we are not seeing any CAS servers and Its Grayed Out.
Please let us know How to add Exchange 2010 CAS in Exchange 2013 Web distribution.

They made alot changes with the OAB in Exchange 2013, and it doesn't really function in the same manner as it did in 2010.  It might be best to take a look at the following blog posts from the Exchange Team, they should give you a better understanding
on how it works and how to manage it going forward.

  • TMG with 2010/2013 Coexistence gives dual prompts (TMG and OWA prompt)

    2 X 2010 CAS', Load balanced pool
4X 2013 Mutilrole (will take the place of the 2010's in the load balanced pool)
Currently we use TMG to publish owa externally.  From TMG, the traffic goes to a load balancer, and to the 2010 CAS's from there.  TMG is doing pre authentication.
However, if I take the 2010 CAS' out of the load balanced pool and enable the 2013 in the load balanced pool, users start getting dual prompts - one at the TMG, and then the 2013 OWA login (no mailboxes on 2013 yet, so have only tested with mailbox still
    on 2010).
I have been through both of the following articles - however, basic auth. is not an option on the exchange side, as then internal users get prompted for windows credentials.  Has anyone in coexistence been able to get this working without basic auth
(currently use Basic, Windows Auth, and NTLM)?

    Hi,
As document mentioned, Forefront TMG cannot perform authentication delegation therefore we need change FBA to basic authentication in Exchange 2013.
However if you don’t want use basic authentication, we can try to disable pre-authentication on the TMG server by new web listener and select the "Do not require SSL secured connections with clients.".
Also, I find an similar thread about your question. For your reference:

  • Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence published in TMG 2010

    Environment:
Two Windows 2008 R2, Exchange 2010 SP3 servers, currently holding all mailboxes
Two Windows 2012 R2, Exchange 2013 SP1 servers, setup in progress
    Two Windows 2008 R2, TMG 2010, V7.0.9193.540 publishing both Exchange 2010 servers.
    Scenario:
I need to continue having Exchange 2010 setup in TMG as is as the mailbox migration to 2013 will take weeks if not months and I have a project requirement to have Exchange Database Availability Group (DAG) functionality for all mailboxes throughout the project,
so 4 servers are an absolute must. So I need to add Exchange 2013 in TMG and not just replace the 2010 setup with the 2013 setup and I cannot run one 2010 and one 2013 server.
    Questions:
    1. I currently only have 2 public IP addresses available to SMTP, mapped to the external interfaces of TMG, to allow my environment to be able receive emails on 4 Exchange servers (two 2010 and two 2013) I need to have 4 public IP addresses, is that correct?
    2. Does anyone have a good general guide/blog for doing this (setting up Exchange 2013 in TMG in a coexistance scenario)?
This is nice, but doesn't really approach it from a coexistance scenario:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/11/21/publishing-exchange-server-2013-using-tmg.aspx
    Thanks!

    Hi Trana,
In TMG you can use single IP address to publish multiple Web address and below are the options which you can explore.
Hope your OWA ECP etc are Https
You need a SSL certificate which has all the URL SAN entry of both old and new Exchange server.
Create a listener and select the IP address (Say public IP address 195.219.x.x)
    Link the SSL certificate
    Public DNS entry
     A record , Single IP
    195.219.x.x
    Point to
    Owa1.exchange1.com   - Old Server
    195.219.x.x
    Point to
    ECP1.exchange1.com     - Old Server
    195.219.x.x
    Point to
    ECP2.exchange2.com      - New Server
    195.219.x.x
    Point to
    Owa2.exchange2.com     - New Server
Create a Web publishing rule as below
    Old server Exchange 1
    Owa1.exchange1.com
    ECP1.exchange1.com
One Web publishing Rule with all the URL added on it and link the Rule with the listener we created
Point the Web publishing to Exchange1.com server which is old
    New server Exchange 2
Web publishing Rule with all the URL added on it and link the Rule with the listener we created
Point the Web publishing to Exchange2.com server which is New
    ECP2.exchange2.com

    Hi,
I am trying to upgrade to DPM to 2012 and keep getting an error on the SQl Server 2008 R2 section.

    Hi,
This behavior is by design. Exchange 2010 server is not going to accept any SIP messages from Exchange 2013 server because it is not listed as UM IP Gateway. Therefore, even if Exchange 2013 redirected the SIP INFO packet to Exchange 2010, it will fail.
During migration\coexistance scenario, this feature (Missed call notifications from Lync server) will not work for legacy users whose mailbox is still in Exchange 2010.

  • Reportviewer 2010 - 2012 Page Header PrintOnFirstPage=false Doesn't work

Hi, I converted my project from 2010 to 2012 and added the new reportviewer reference(v10 to v11). something that worked in 2010 no longer works in 2012.
I have a report with a simple page header that i do no want shown on the first page but now a blank area the size of the page header appears on the first page, where in 2010, the body moves up to the top. is there a property im missing? i am using printonfirstpage=false
on the page header but it isnt working as expected.
    thanks

    Hi dell.ca,
According to your description, you have a report with a simple page header, and  you set PrintOnFirstPage property to false. It works fine in Visual Studio 2010, when you run the report using VS 2012, a blank area of the page header appears on the first
    page.
I tried to reproduce this issue on my local machine. However, the report works fine for me when converted from SQL Server Data Tools(SSDT) 2010 In SQL Server 2012 to SSDT 2012. For this case, i recommend that you consider applying the latest patches according
to your version. If the problem remain unresolved, you can submit a feedback to Microsoft Connect at this link

  • Sony's Android Software Strategy 2010-2012

2010 - Launches phones on Android 1.6 Doghnut and received mass criticism for installing an old OS on new phones. Later, the company updated some of the phones to 2.1 Eclair.
2011 - Launches most phones on the then latest OS version, Android Gingerbread 2.3. This attracts intense support from those in the mobile industry, software/Android industry and most importantly from customers who benefit from the latest features.
2012 - Launches many phones on 2.3 Gingerbread when 2 versions later (ICS, Jellybean) has been launched. The positive part is, except for the Xperia Play from 2011, Sony's promise of updating all 2011 phones to 4.0 ICS happened and this attracted the same positive reactions from the 2011 phones. However, form mid-2012, newer Sony phones launched with ICS (very good!) but earlier 2012 devices are stuck on 2.3 while rivals e.g. Samsung are releasing Jellybean for their devices.
I agree, the numbers shouldn't mean anything. What really matters is features and quality I think. With this in mind, I think there is a new and current problem with updates with the same 2010 mistakes and it would be wise to fix this. I know that this involves company strategy, logistics, cost analysis, release schedule of new phones etc. but I think it would be a huge loss on the great 2011 software success to fall behind again, like in 2010. My other concern is that we will get Jellybean *way* too late.

Good feedback and also good composed post first of all!
Concerning Jelly Bean it's a bit tricky to say how it may proceed since the update isn't about to launch yet. To be able to stay posted in this matter please visit our product blog on the link below.

It seems that the latest SSDT refresh broke the Script Task (editing and perhaps debugging, too). Must be applicable to having SSDT 2012 / VS 2012 and/or SSDT 2010 and 2012 alongside.
Re-applying SSDT 2010 from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=241405 seems to help resolving this issue.

    Thank you for the sharing.
    Do you mean the
Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 when saying the latest SSDT? According to the download link, it explains that the SSDT 2013 has been removed due to side by side issues with SSDT 2010 or SSDT 2012. Sorry that
I don’t have a SSDT 2013 environment to test the issue, but hope your sharing is helpful for others who face with this issue.
    Regards,

  • Differences between 2010 & 2012 Development Process

I've been looking at various images comparing the differences in appearance between the current 2010 process and the new 2012 version in the LR4 beta. At times the differences seem quite minor such as mildly greater shadow and highlight detail in the new version but at the expense of slightly higher noise levels and a flatter overall image.
Obviously these are just base settings from which changes can be made but in some cases the changes are dramatic. I've added a couple of images as examples and I wondered if there is any information on the changes made plus the reasons behind those changes.

This is simply down to updating the process version from 2010 to 2012. Some images show far less change and there are times when I prefer the 2012 version that has a pleasing touch of warmth on skintones when viewed on my Spectraview monitor but I've noticed that images of predominantly pale backlit subjects become very washed out. Here are another couple of comparison shots. All images shown were taken with a Canon 1DsII.

  • SCCM 2007 and 2012 coexistence and Cross Forest support

    Hi All
    I have a question
My company has recently acquired another company
That company exist of 2 forests (forest A has one domain namely domain A : and forest B has one domain namely domain B) with a two way forest trusts between them
Domain A has a SCCM 2007 primary Site
Domain B has a SCCM 2007 primary site and 2 secondary Sites
The active directory schema is extended in both domains
We cannot migrate the SCCM 2007 environment because it is a mess , so we want to build a new SCCM 2012 R2 environment into Domain B and from that environment manage both domains  (OSD, software deployment client management ...)
We want to install a SCCM 2012 R2 (CU3) primary server into domain B and add two distribution points instead of the two secondary sites and manage both forests (domain A and B) from that primary site server
    Now my questions are
    1 )
Can an SCCM 2007 environment coexist with a SCCM 2012 environment?
I believe it can If I make sure that in the new SCCM 2012 environment we only use boundary groups for content locations and not for site assignment and in the SCCM 2007 environment (domain A and domain B) I need to disable the client push account.
    2)
Discovery , How do we make sure that systems and users are discovered from both domains?
Do we need to do some additional configuration to make that happen or will this be no problem because of the Two way trust and active directory schema extension.
    3 )
Can we do all the management from the new SCCM 2012 R2 site , also OSD deployments for both domains ?
I hope someone can help me with these questions
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Johan

    Hi All
After talk with management and local support the decision is made not to deploy only distribution points but instead deploy secondary sites (of course with management point and distribution point) because the bandwidth to these sites is a
    problem.
So the situation will be Domain A Primary site (SCCM 2012 R2) and for both remote locations a secondary site , domain B a secondary site (of course all the related ports need to be opened for both domains as explained here https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427328.aspx
    Question
Can we do all the management from the new primary SCCM 2012 R2 site (domain A) , also OSD deployments for both domains A and B ?
I hope someone can review this
    Thx in advance
    Regards Johan

  • Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence: OWA proxy not working properly ":-( Something went wrong"

    Hi
Exchange 2010 users are NOT able to connect to their mailboxes when they go through exchange 2013 OWA address.  We get a message that says following ---> "Something went wrong"
Following is our URL.  The address is pointing to 2013 CAS loadbalancer VIP.  Outlook anywhere is working fine.  What is going on?
Important: All my exchange 2010 / 2013 URIs are the same as suggested by Microsoft (Owa, ecp, activesync, ews, autodiscover): --> mail.domain.com/XXX

    Hello Rawa,
Can you log on Exchange 2010 OWA using its localhost address?
Please make sure the intenralurl value is set to Exchange 2010’s local host name and set the Externalurl to Null.
