You are in the wrong place.  Click on the Apple in the left corner on your desktop and then click "About This Mac."
In the next window, click on the More Info button
Your battery info as previously requested is what we need to see.

  • Upgrade Ram, HD to SDD and New Battery for Macbook pro 2010 i7 15". (with price).

Hi, i want to upgrade my Ram, Hard Disk and Battery of Macbook pro 2010 Model with i7 processor and 15" display.
    My current configuration:
Ram: 2GB + 2GB (original with mbp purchase)
Hard Disk: 500 GB (250 GB full)
Battery: Cycles - 669 and Health - 87 % (As show by istat)
    New configuration I want:
Ram: 8 Gb best of all (what to do with the previous 2GB + 2GB Ram)
SSD:Minimum 128 Gb ( what to do with previous 500 GB

I ignored the (with price) part. Sorry.
    Crucial m4 512GB SSD - from Amazon - $389.99.
    Crucial m4 256GB SSD - from Amazon - $203.84.
    Crucial m4 128GB SSD - from Amazon - $112.87.
    Crucial 8GB RAM for 2010 15" MacBook Pro - from Crucial - $47.99.
What to do with your old RAM? Just trash it or label it and put it in an anti-static bag and put it in your 'parts' drawer. Or trash it. Or give it away. It's not worth anything.
    Good luck,

  • Can I install only Windows on my Macbook Pro 2009?

    Hello All,
For reasons far outwith my control. i.e. I am in the middle of borneo, needing desperatly to get on a full windows machine... I need answers to the following?
I have full gen versions of Windows 7 and MS Office 2010. I want to run these on my 13" MacBook Pro 2009. I know, boot camp, VMware etc are all great. But i can't at this time get those working.
I think, the best option is to just buy a HDD, remove the old one, install fresh copy (of win) onto new HHD.
However, my question is - will this work?
    Thanks
    Craig

As TheSmokeMonster indicated, you'll need to use either virtualization or BootCamp.  BootCamp prepares your system to allow Windows to be installable on it (it also provides the drives for some of the hardware which may not be found elsewhere).  Virtualization runs in OS X, so that should be a non-issue.  Keep in mind, all firmware updates are only via OS X, so you would not be able to update your firmware unless you have a functioning bootable external OS X volume.
BootCamp does basically give you a full Windows machine... it just allows dual booting between Windows and OS X.

A four year battery could be dead. I'd contact an Apple Service Center.

  • I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro (2009) & the "White Screen of Death" is present.  Need help?

I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro (2009).  Recently I bought an extended hard drive because I had used up the memory on my iDisk.  As I was running the Time Machine back up on my new extended drive, the battery on my Pro ran out causing it to shut down.  Once I hooked up my Pro to the power cord & logged in, the "White Screen of Death" appeared on the home display.  Obviously the battery still works, my phone is able to charge along with the extended drive, I am able to adjust the lighting on my keyboard along with adjusting the brightness on my screen, but the "White Screen" remains.  I need help in determining the cause of this issue & the steps I'll need to take in order to resolve this.  I love my Pro, all my documents, photos & music are on it & the last thing I want to do is kill my wallet by buying a new Pro.  So could someone on here please help me?  It would be greatly appreciated & I thank you in advance!

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 8
This step applies only to a Mac Pro tower, not to any other model. A dead logic-board battery can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

  • My macbook pro 2009, was stored in a Speck case and rubbermaid stoage tote that was left in a RV over the winter in WI that sat outside all winter. Is it ruined? will I be able to still use it and all my data? I don't currently have it with me.

my macbook pro 2009, was stored in a Speck case and rubbermaid stoage tote that was left in a RV over the winter in WI that sat outside all winter. Is it ruined? will I be able to still use it and all my data? I don't currently have it with me. I am just hoping that when I get it back it will work for me. Any tips, help, support would be helpful! Thank you!

Storage temperature is listed as down to -13º F
Line voltage: 100V to 240V AC
    Frequency: 50Hz to 60Hz
    Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)
    Storage temperature: -13° to 113° F (-24° to 45° C)
Relative humidity: 0% to 90% noncondensing
    Maximum operating altitude: 10,000 feet
    Maximum storage altitude: 15,000 feet
    Maximum shipping altitude: 35,000 feet
So I would think you're OK . The battery will need a charge but I don;t see any reason why there should be a problem as long as there was no water involved.

  • Browsing Youtube and Macbook Pro (2009) froze--rebooting just leads to apple logo against grey screen and loading circle

I was browsing Youtube when the entire Macbook Pro (2009) froze up. After a couple of minutes, I forced a shut down and now when I try starting it back up it just displays the apple logo against the grey backdrop with the loading circle just going around and around.
I have no idea what's going on with it. I tried disconnecting it from the power cord--letting it cool down, took the battery out, etc...

That's called a Gray Screen issue and it could be caused by multiple factors.

  • Using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect Macbook Pro (2009) for a presentation via projector.

When I connect my Macbook Pro (2009 model) using a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter to display a presentation via projector, only the top-left portion of what is displayed on my Macbook Pro's screen is displayed on the projector, as though I zoomed in on that portion of my screen. The projector is on and the adapter and the cable that connects the adapter to the projector machine is correctly connected. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

    Hi glraczon.support,
It sounds like the external display you are using (projector) operates at a smaller resolution than your MacBook Pro. You may want to configure the display preferences in System Preferences for the external projector.
Here is an article that may help you with that process:

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

    Here's the setup:
Eizo Coloredge CG223 DVI to DVI on MacPro 5770 interface (ACD works fine on this too, naturally).
Apple Cinema Display 20" have the DVI connector. I have a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter on this, into one of the 5770's MDPs, neither of which seem to work.
Plug the same ACD via DVI (with DVI to MDP adpater) into my MacBook Pro 2009 MDP and it works fine as a second screen.
So what's up with the 5770 MDPs? I've seen online that the card should at least support two displays, either MDPs x2 or MDP and DVI. I've seen there may be an issue with three, not two.
    Any ideas please?
