2011 27" iMac: Can I use it as a monitor for my HDMI PC w/ adapter?

I own a 27" 2011 iMac with i5 3.1 GHz intel processor and 8 GB of RAM. I've been thinking of getting a PC and don't want to drop $200+ on a decent monitor when i could just use a glorious 27" 1440p screen in front of me now. i know there's adapters for Thunderbolt to HDMI, but will it work for having my iMac as a display for my PC (Not a dual moniter setup, just my iMac being one monitor)? Would love to know a way this could be possible, thanks.

Mini display and thunderbolt use the same port configuration, so a mini display cable works in a thunderbolt port.

Yes, if you are willing to live with the limited dimension of the iBook G4. You can use a VNC client, such as Chicken of the VNC, on the iMac G5, and after configuring remote administration on your G4, and hooking the two up with an ethernet cable (or IP over firewire) you can connect and get the screen echoed to your G5. If I correctly understand you question: you have an external monitor, and you use your mac with lid closed (not a good idea at all if used for a long time, especially in warm/hot weather). Now, you want a second monitor connected via USB.
My small piece of advice is to use your MB with lid open and thus you have two monitors, beside this, you protect your mac by a proper ventilation, which is better when lid is open.

You need to put the Tiger Install Disc in the 2011 iMac, boot the 2011 uMac into Target mode...

Boot the G4 holding the Option or alt key, hopefully the Install Disc in the 2011 iMac will show as a boot choice.
We just want to use the 2011 iMac as a big expensive FW Optical drive, it cannot be installed osing the 2011 iMac itself.

However I believe you can have Aperture installed on two machines however only one may be using it at a time.
On the new iMac launch the Mac App Store - Purchased - look for Aperture and download to your new machine.

From the Technical Specifications page i couldn't understad, sure that is possible to connect another monitor or TV but is not clear if there is a video IN port.

No this is not possible.
The best you could do is run some sort of remote control software on the mac to control your windows xp machine with i.e Microsoft Remote Desktop of Virtual Network Computing (VNC)
You can watch tv on your mac with special accessories that let you record tv signals and encode them to your hard drive in the mac.

No. Target Display mode is only supported when connected to a Mac running 10.6 or later.
It cannot be used with a PC, bootcamp, gamaing console, cable box, DVR or PowerPC Mac.

Only the late 27" iMac's support input for use as a display with another system that has MiniDisplay Port output.
You might be able to use > ScreenRecycler, however I'm not sure how your going to set it up without a display for the Mac Mini.
