2012 R2 Move Replicated VM to new storage - old location still has VHD?

I have this scenario:
Server 1 (Primary Hyper-V)
Drive 1 (Current VHD storage)
Drive 2 (New VHD storage)
Server 2 (Replica Hyper-V)
I am moving a couple of VM from drive 1 to 2 using live storage migration. These VM have active replication to Server 2. The move seemed to go fine and replication resumed properly once the move was finished. The strange thing is the primary VHD seem to
still be on Drive 1. I thought that the final step of the live storage migration would be to delete the old VHD? Once I verify the VM are using Drive 2 I assume I can just delete the files on Drive 1 right?

You are not alone.  I am having the same issue.  
Testing HV setup in a cluster of two nodes with shared FC storage.  Storage is CSV on both nodes.
 Storage migration of a VM from C:\ClusterStorage\A to C:\ClusterStorage\B completes without any problem.  Upon completion, the source VHDX are still left at C:\ClusterStorage\A.  The source files can be deleted manually.  All is done through
VMM "Migrate Storage" option.  Why the storage migration does not delete the source files upon job completion?  Thanks!

    I got a similar message, but mine finished restoring pretty soon and then I was able to download and install 7.0.2
    Try rebooting your phone to see if that helps.

    Not covered by warranty. Some Apple stores will replace the screen/digitizer, while you wait, for US $149. Call your local store to confirm they do so, then make an appointment.
    Otherwise, if your store does not offer this...not available in every country...you're looking at US $269 for an out of warranty replacement.

    Make sure you have fully exited Firefox last by using the Quit option. In Mac OS X, applications do not automatically exit when you close the last remaining window as they do in other operating systems.
    If you are quite sure that you quit, it's possible that Firefox may have hung in the course of shutting itself down. In that case, you can read these instructions for 'force quitting' an applicaton:

    Only do that as a last resort though.
    Finally, uninstall your existing version of Firefox before attempting to install a new version. You can do that by opening the Applications folder from the Finder, then dragging the Firefox icon to the trash can.

    I need some info for creating storage bin. I have a material with 100 KG in a storage unit XYZ. And i want to move 20 KG of 100 KG to new storage unit.
    First i call BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE with movement type 311 with new quant 20 KG to create a new storage unit. After that i call L_TO_CREATE_POSTING_CHANGE for transfer posting.
    But it does no effect to material. It have 311 movement successfully but than it puts the 20 KG to the same storage unit XYZ. How can i move it to a new storage unit ?

    If you only want to do a WM transfer (manually with LT01), you can use L_TO_CREATE_SINGLE.

  • Moving ASM-based RAC to new storage device

    We recently installed Oracle 11gR2 RAC on a REH 5.3 cluster. CRS, Voting Disk, and database files are all sitting on an ASM disk group (on a Clarion storage device). A decision is made to move everything to a new storage device (DMX). We are using EMC powerpath.
    Is there an easy way to move this Oracle cluster from one storage device to another.
    We can rsync the grid and RDBMS binaries which are installed on a linux filesystem on each node but I would like to know how to go about moving the shared storage which is hosted on the ASM.
    We used asmlib 2.0 to create the ASM disk and then relied on the clusterware installer and DBCA to create the disk group, the cluster components, and the oracle database.
    Do I need to backup the ASM database as well as our RAC database (using RMAN) into a flat filesystem first and restore them once the new ASM disk is created in the new storage device?
    A step by step procedure will be greatly appreciated.

  • How do I move databases to a new volume with the same name?

    When I first set up Snow Leopard Server, I chose a different volume to keep the databases such as mail, iCal, etc., during the setup program.
    I'm running out of space on that volume, so I installed a new hard drive with the same volume name and copied all the files over to it, but when I restarted the server I started getting error messages and no one could send mail. I'm assuming it's a permissions thing.
    So I do I move everything to a new volume?

    - I logged out as Administrator, and logged back in as Root.
    - Disconnected the services in Server Admin.
    - Copied the ServiceData folder from old volume "Storage" to new volume "Storage".
    - Unmounted old volume "Storage".
    - Restarted all services.

    Exchange 2007 SP3 CCR.
    Now I want to create a new storage group with edb file and log files on the new drive.
    My plan is as below:
    Once we have new drive ready on both active node and passive node,
    1): Create new storage group with log files for this new storage group on other new drive from Active Node.
    2): Create new mailbox database under this newly created storage group with the DB file on the new drive from active node.
    My question is:
    1): Do I need to perform above steps from active node only? or Do I need to do it from both active node and passive node?
    2): How many storage groups can we create on one Exchange 2007 Enterprise server, we already have 25 SGs in place.

    Here are my answers you can refer to:
    1. We can just create new storage group on the active node. And it’ll be replicated to the passive node.
    We can use the following command in EMS to verify the new Storage Group is being replicated to the passive node:

    I have 10.2.0.1 Standard Edition database (7GB, not in archivelog mode) on Windows2003 server, and need to move it to the new server (same environment). I thought to use OEM Clone option, but it appears cloning to the other host is working only in Grid - and I have DB Control.
    I know about manual cloning/recreation, but now looking into export and import option. So I think to install Oracle database on the new server, then import some relevant tablespaces exported from the old database. I will use datapump utility in OEM, under system username.
    Is that a good approach ? What rules should be applied to avoid problems in that case ? Sorry if it's very basic question, never moved database before.

    Options for porting the database from one server to another after installing Oracle on the new server incldue
    Export/Import using expdp/impdp
    Rman duplicate to compatiable hardware
    Rman file conversion to non-compatiable hardware
    On advantage of expdp/impdp is this option supports reconfiguring the database tablespace/file/object storage layout as part of the migration. Also the adoption of new features like ASSM.
    A disadvantage is that using expdp/impdp will probably be slower and involve more DBA work than using file copies via rman. There are approaches to reduce the clock time necessary to support export/import and the work is often beneficial for long-term database management efforts.
    There have been threads on this topic before and failry recently. You might want to hunt one or two of them down.

  • Migrating Protection group to new storage pool

    Hello all running DPM 2012. The environment was setup prior to my arrival and it was setup with 10 1.5TB storage pools.  I heard the thinking was this was the recommended size for storage pools.  Problem is now we are/have run out of disk space
    on those storage pools and jobs are failing with "DPM does not have sufficient storage space available on the recovery point volume to create new recovery points (ID 214)"
    I have created new 4 new storage pools of 10TB each and I want to know how I can migrate the protection group data to the new storage pools and have the protection group use the new storage pool moving forward.  I want to empty the smaller storage pools
    so I can kill them off and create larger storage pools.
    Unfortunately the GUI does not allow me to point to specific storage pools, it should, and I'm not familiar with DPM Shell commands.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    The following commands can be used with the ntdisk number as seen in either the get-DPMDISK output, the Windows Disk Management GUI or DPM Management - Disks GUI.  In my example disk-0 is the system/boot disk and not used by DPM storage pool.

    Hi,
    Storage location infoobject (0STOR_LOC) has to bring as attribute of 0PLANT. Move this from right panel to left so hat storage location will be visible in attributes of Plant.
    Sometimes you can maintain as compounding attribute also. Adjust as per your requirement.
    Check this once and then load data accordingly.
    Also, check the relevant data in ECC before loading to BI.

    Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

    You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
    You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
    There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

    I want so set up itunes on my laptop and make sure that I get all of my old music and any music shared from my sons' itunes accounts.  Do I have to set up itunes on my new laptop first and then use the same logins?  Really concerned about losing any music, etc.

    These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
    Backup the library with this User Tip.
    Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
    Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
    Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
    Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
    Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
    I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
    Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
    If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
    Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.
