2012 R2 User profiles are multiplying user, user.000, user.001

This is a new 2012 R2 server and the user profiles are multiplying user, user.000, user.001 or user, user-backup-0, user-backup-1.
The server was working fine for about a month and then the profile issue started.
I'm now getting 1 user that is now getting a Temporary profile when she logs in.  I checked the registry and there are no .bak listings in the user profile section.
The event viewer only mentions 1 error about the user getting the Temp Profile.
Samero

Hi,
Did you configure user profile disk for that user? If yes, please make sure that
the user profile disk settings are correct.
In addition, did you find any SID of the user account in the error in event log? If yes, please check the registry path below:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Then find the same SID in the path above and delete the key “ProfileImagePath”, then log off and log on again. In addition, please backup the value of the key “ProfileImagePath”
before you delete it as a backup.
Best regards,
Susie

  • After a hard reset all user profiles are now accessible by every user

I initially had our office time capsule set up with 3 seperate user accounts ("profiles") via these instructions. Thus each user had a login for the time capsule that would then show them a shared folder that all users could see, and then a personal folder that only those logged into that account could see and access.
While I was out of the office a co-worker was having trouble connecting his new iMac to the time capsule, so he called apple for assistance and they had him do a hard reset. The hard reset saved all the profiles and all information in each folder, but now everyone can access every folder. I'm not completely sure of what steps they took to set it up after the hard reset, but now, no matter which account you are logged in as you see:
    -"Shared"
         -(Shared folder)
    -"Users"
         -(user 1)
         -(user 2)
         -(user 3)
So you have complete access to each users folders. Does anyone know if there is any easier way to set the user profiles back up the way they were originally set up by myself, or do I basically have to re-do the whole process (which includes saving and transfering all folders--which is a long process)?

The security of the TC is designed for home networking.. because anyone who has physical access to the TC can easily access anything.. it is simply convenient perhaps to have user profiles.. but a quick 1 sec soft reset and anybody can gain access to anything.

  • After a UPSA connection edit, all my user profiles are "missing from import"

    Hi there,
I've got a problem with my User Profile Service Application. I edited my existing connection to add some new OU containers to the list, after the networks team had done some
restructuring to reflect an organizational change. Then I ran a Full Synchronization. But now all of my user profiles show up under the "Missing from Import" list. I still have 943 profiles in SharePoint, and not surprisingly, people search isn't
working. I suspect that I did something wrong in the process of selecting the Users OU containers in the AD tree (in Populate Containers), but I cannot see what, since I replicated the selections that had been made for an unchanged department, to
the ones that had been reorganized.
    Any help appreciated.
    Tom
SharePoint Systems Officer, Capital Regional District, BC, Canada

    Hi  Tom ,
According to your description, my understanding is that all the user profiles are showing up under "Profiles missing from import" list after you edited the existing User Profile Synchronization
    Connection.
For your issue, it can be caused by that your User Profile Synchronization Connection is unable to connect to  your AD. Please make sure  the account used to connect to Active Directory to import
profiles has access to the Organizational Unit you are importing from. By default this account is the Default Content Access account. And the Default Content Access account  must be a domain user account and it must have read access to external or secure
content sources that you want to crawl by using this account.
Then you need to check if the “Profile Synchronization” job status is “succeed”.
Also please check the “Sync filter” for the service, and make sure the account are not include in the Exclusion Filter for Users.
For a workaround, you can just delete the existing connection , recreate it and perform a full synchronization.
    Thanks,

  • Netboot user profiles are not persitent after reboot

    Hello,
we are migrated our environment to Mountain Lion Server and Netboot Clients also with Mountain Lion. User profiles are located on the Server.
If Users change some profile settings like default browser or standart application for opening files, these settings are persistent until the user reboot the machine. After that, all settings reverted to default. User permissions looks like it should. Also if some settings would be changed inside Safari proberties like search machine or startup page, these settings will be stay after the reboot. :-( Some other not.
Any sugestions where i have to look?
    Thanks and regards.
    Joris

    Hey Brian,
we use Netboot ... yes but every User which is log in to the netboot client get an own Network Home Directory mapped.
I know that changes on the OS not stay persistant inside the Netboot OS. But changes on the UserProfiles, like default Browser or somthing else, are also reseted after the reboot. I think they should saved in the UserProfiles and stay persistant if the user log in again after the reboot?

  • OSD - MDT 2013 - USMT Scan/LoadState Runs Successfully but user profiles are not restored.

I've got this to work although I haven't figured out the root cause.
    My initial OSDMigrateAdditionalCaptureOptions were: /Hardlink /nocompress /uel:30 /config:%_SMSTSMDataPath%\Packages\%_OSDMigrateUsmtPackageID%\%Processor_Architecture%\config.xml"
    My OSDMigrateRestoreCaptureOptions were:  /Hardlink /nocompress /ue:*\* /ui:domain.local\*
Since the restore was failing, I removed the domain name from the ui switch which magically caused the restore process to load the user profiles to the computer.
My final OSDMigrateRestoreCapptureOptions which worked: /Hardlink /nocompress /ue:%computername%.
Just to note /hardlink commands are not necessary when you are using MDT task sequence, but I put it in anyway and it seems ensure that I get consistent results.

  • User profile service not updating 'Title' in user information list

    Hi,
In our SharePoint farm, following two user profile sync timer jobs are successfully running but not updating the 'Title' in the hidden user information list.
User Profile to SharePoint Full Synchronization
User Profile to SharePoint Quick Synchronization.
Can someone point me to the right direction? Please note that I don't want to use powershell script shown here to update the 'Title' in the user information list -

    Hi,
There are two jobs, User Profile to SharePoint Quick Sync and User Profile to SharePoint Full Sync, that synchronize the User Profile database information with the user information list. Sometimes this stops working (properly) and in that case
    you need to run:
    Stsadm.exe –o sync –listolddatabases 0
    Stsadm.exe –o sync –deleteolddatabases 0
The first command will display all the databases and when they have been sync’d last.
The second command will delete the records corresponding to those databases (it doesn't delete databases/end user data).
Anyways, running this will basically tell the timer jobs that they have never sync’d and force them to carry on as if it’s the first time.
Go to Central Admin and fire off the User Profile to SharePoint Full Synchronization
    job.

  • Error - The registration of the service "User Profile Service" has failed. The user profile can not be loaded

I am running an environment with an Active Directory and Terminal Servers.
I have searched high and low for resolutions to this error but I cannot find anything related to my situation, let me explain further.
The fixes I found are related to local users only.
When I create a new user in the Active Directory I provide the paths to the profile folder in the "Remote Desktop Profile" and "Profile tab"  lets say for example \\ad001\home\%username% and \\ad001\profil\%username% .
I give rights to the user to read/write the "home" folder which is mapped for folder redirection.  An I know that when the user first logs on it should create a "v2.%username%" folder upon successful logon.  This is when I am
presented with the error message below:
"The registration of the service "User Profile Service" has failed.
The user profile can not be loaded"
Does anyone have any experience with this or know a suitable fix.  Again this is for the "Roaming" profile creation no local.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Did you receive for any one user or for all users?
Have you tried to solve the issue by fixing the user account profile?
For that you can adjust the registry setting “ProfileImagePath” with
particular SID of that user under below mention path.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Also if this can’t resolve the issue you can try to delete the SID of that user or renaming the old and and then check the result again by creating new profile for that users.
    More information.
You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error message

  • Assign User Profiles and Web Interface Transactions to Users

    Hi EM Gurus,
Has anyone worked with not standard scenarios in SCEM?
They are working well but I can't access them on interface web.
In selection page (search page after logon), where choose tracking scenarios, only standard scenarios appear although I have assigned both scenarios to the user and made same configuration; Assigned and Defined Web Interface Transactions, Configured Fields for User Profiles, Defined User Profiles, Assigned User Profiles and Web Interface Transactions to Users.
But only Standard Scenarios appear as choice of tracking scenarios that are displayed to the user as a dropdown box on the selection screen after logging on to the Web interface.
Has anyone accessed not standard scenarios on interface web??
    Help, please!
    Thanks a lot.
    Rodrigo Freitas

    Hello Rodrigo,
if you have assigned the scenarios to your user in transaction /SAPTRX/UCUSER you must go to the admin page and reload the profile manager.
/admin in the URL of the WCL instead /ehsearch.
Afterwards you should see them also in the drop-down box.
    Best regards,
    Steffen

  • User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded

    Hey
when I try to log on to the computer using a domain account, I get "User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded" it allows me to login using the local account. I have restored the computer as far
back as it can go, I have taken it off the domain and re-joined it, I installed a program called 'Glary utilities 5' and ran a registry repair and that did not work either. I am now out of ideas :(
Was hoping someone has any more ideas I could try before doing a fresh install.

Home Premium cannot logon to a Domain, nor can it be set to try it.
when you get the logon window, try hitting the three-finger salute )Ctrl+Alt+Del) twice – it may bring up the old-style login window – enter your credentials there.

  • The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded, WIN7 dual boot

    Hi all,
I just got a new x201, which I installed ubuntu on a second partition. For a while the two systems were getting along fine, and I was able to switch between them without problems. on my last login it won't accept my credentials (pw or biometric) and says "The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded" and then returns to the login screen. Any ideas on how to fix this without nuking the system?

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem as little_teapot , I cannot get past the login screen. I went onto the Toshiba support site which asked me to do a system recovery using the F8 key on start up. So I tried this but the problem I'm having is when I turn on the computer holding in the F8 key, nothing happens, it just goes through start up as normal and then it just ends up at the login screen telling me that the user profile cannot be loaded. I've tried it a couple of times and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong with the safe mode start up? Also the notebook is a P500/020 and is only 2 months old running Windows 7? if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

  • User Profiles are the wrong style after importing/migrating site collections from other SharePoint versions

I manage a couple of different version of SharePoint, which we are in the process of migrating to SharePoint 2013. I have a problem which I am not sure how to resolve. We are using MetaLogix to migrate site and site collection data from an older SharePoint
2007/WSS3.0 server environment into our new SharePoint 2013 environment and we are having a problem with user profiles that get created.
I have SharePoint 2013 set up for "SharePoint Profile Synchronization" and some of our user's profiles are being created in an older format that shows the user's claims account information, rather than the more fancy profile type that allows us
to include pictures and click on "follow this person" links.
If we manually delete the profile, it will be recreated properly however, as we are migrating many sites and collections over, it is near impossible to do this and keep track of each user so that their profiles can be deleted and recreated.
Is there some way to change this behavior so that SharePoint will only create the newer style of user profile?

These 'profiles' are you looking at them in the User Profile Service Application itself or are you looking at site collections? There is a huge difference between the two but people often miss it.
In most cases you'll have some partial information on the Site Collections but when you click through to their actual profile (not just their User Information List entry) you'll see the prettier version. That information is normally internally synchronised
by a timer job but that may not have run yet and/or the fact that your users haven't actually used the site may be causing it not to update them (it's an efficiency matter).
Finally: Drop your sales guy at Metalogix an email, they will bounce it to one of their techies and they'll have seen it a million times.

  • "The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."

I recently purchased a refurbished laptop from MTC (windows 7) and have been trying to remote into the windows systems at my school but I keep receiving this error message.  I'm aware there are dozens of threads on this topic but mine is slightly different.
Bear with me, I know next to nothing about computers...
I initially tried to follow the instructions given out by Microsoft (can't add a link here), but when it comes to looking at my S-1-5 directories, I do not have any that end in .bak, nor do I have two equally names ones.  I have one that is a string
of numbers followed by -1000 and one with the same string of numbers but ending in -500.
The -1000 directory is missing the RunLogonScriptSync file, and has my account listed under value name for the ProfileImagePath information.  The -500 directory has the RunLogonScriptSync file and has "Administrator" listed under
the value name for the ProfileImagePath.
In the instructions cited above I tried skipping to step 15 and accessing C:\Users\default\appdata\local\application data but I get an error message saying access is denied.  So I'm thinking there are two administrative accounts on this laptop, but
when I access the accounts on the laptop I can only see mine.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks.

the "access denied" message, is making you think this?
if so, ignore that, since the "access denied" message is a classic MSFT misdirection.
It is *not* that you don't have access - the path you are trying to navigate to does not actually exist (it is a junction/reparse, not a folder), and, Windows Explorer doesn't follow that nicely, so it throws a misleading error message:
    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local>dir /AL
Volume in drive C is Windows7_OS
     Volume Serial Number is C0EB-A540

Instead, the "user profile service service failed the logon" can be commonly caused by an improperly secured file within any of the other folders (folders which form the Default User profile).
Here's one which caught me out, and MSFT helped me resolve via a support case, and they blogged it afterwards:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/asiatech/archive/2014/01/30/new-user-gets-event-1509-after-deploying-ie9-10-11-packaged-by-ieak.aspx
(my advice to you, is to dive into the event log with eventvwr, and look for an event similar to 1509, which should point you in the right direction for your particular situation)

How do I copy the user profile & where do I find it? Do I need to delete the profile I don't want? Is there a way to "meld the profiles"? Can I get access to edit so I can save some stuff from one & add it to the other?

That doesn't exactly help. It tells you how to move a profile between machines, but not how to share a profile between two users, which is what Snarkle and I want to do.
This seems to be a common application problem now that Microsoft have at last added proper user security to Windows - Mozilla isn't the only program set that's giving me problems. Methinks application designers have to bite the bullet and work out exactly what a "profile" is for the first time.
