2013 air crashes when asleep

Hello, was wondering if any one out there has a 2013 MacBook Air, 13" to be exact, and when the computer falls asleep, completely, I try to wake it up and it crashes, or I should say no response what-so-ever.

If you're running OS X 10.8.5 or earlier, then from the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Accessibility
If the checkbox at the bottom marked
Enable access for assistive devices
is checked, uncheck it and test.
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy ▹ Privacy ▹ Accessibility
If any applications are listed on the right and have a checked box next to them, uncheck all the boxes and test. You may first have to click the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate as an administrator to unlock the settings.

Any ideas? Very disappointed as I have already also spent a day trying to get outlook to work using all the advice on these forums. Just not impressed. I'm I going to have the same issues with excel?

    Hi,
In regarding of the issue, it may be caused some reason, let's try to narrow down the root cause with the following methods:
1.Try disable all the add-ins to see if this behavior could be caused by the 3rd-party add-ins, if this behavior won't occur with all the add-ins disabled, we can enable them one by one to find out which one might cause the issue.
2.Try repair your Office as a quick fix
    3.Try start Word in
safe mode to see if this behavior will still occur, if this behaivor won't occur in safe mode, the behavior might be caused by certain items that are loaded with Word.
    4.Try configure Windows in
clean boot mode to check if this behavior could be caused by the 3rd-party services, if this behavior won't occur in clean boot mode, try follow the instructions in the

My macbook air crashed when I plugged in my new portable charger in the USB, and it refuse to start again. Nothing is happening when Im trying to start the mac. Is the macbook totally destroyed or can I fix this in some way? appreciate your help!

You should also ask this in the MacBook Air forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Satellite Pro C50-A - Microsoft Office 2013 apps crash when opened

I recently purchased a Satellite Pro C50-A PSCG7A-01X01V. I installed Windows 8.1 and then installed Office 2013. Unfortunately when I start one of the Office 2013 apps it immediately crashes with an error message eg: "Microsoft Word has stopped working". I have tried starting the applications in safe mode (eg excel /safe) however the same error occurs. Is anyone able to assist with this problem?

I have managed to resolve the issue by using Microsoft's facility to 'Repair Office Programs'. Refer to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-help/repair-or-remove-office-2010-HA010357402.aspx

  • VS 2013 SP4 crashes when opening a Form with large Numbers of elements on Windows 8 32-Bit

Hi, I have made a C#-Project, which is fully functional but opening the main form causes VS 2013 Sp4 to crash. I can build the solution an open all Files. Only when i open the form in Designer, VS crashes and want to restart. There are no Log-Entrys. Only
in the event-log there is an Event-Id 1000 with code 0x0000409. I can open the form on two other Windows 8.1 64-Bit machines without Problems. Looking on "free Mem" while opening in Resourcemonitor it crashes when at least are around 190 MB free.
How can I investigate this Problem?

    Hi Frank,
If the same solution works well in other machine, I doubt that it is your Environment issue.
Of course, to make sure that it is not the project files issue, please create a blank solution, and then add all project files to this new solution, test it again.
Maybe you could delete .suo file in your solution folder, and then re-open your .sln file, test it again.
If there are many projects in the same solution, I suggest you create different solutions for them, test it again.
But as your previous description, I doubt that it would be related to your VS/Windows Environment.
Please disable all add-ins in your VS, maybe you could run your VS in safe mode, test it again.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms241278.aspx
To make sure that it is not the account issue, please run your VS as the admin.
In addition, the most important issue is that we have make sure that it is not the Window Configuration issue.
For example, when you run your windows for a long time, or your task manager is so busy, or other processes take high CPU and so on, I think they will impact your VS or other software performance.
Please restart your PC, close other processes which take high memory, please also close third party tools like firewall or the Anti-virus. If you open a few VS Editors, just close them, and then just open one, test it again.
    Best Regards,
    Jack

  • Adobe Air Crash when try to load video

    Hi,
Recently, I am trying to do an very simple application using Adobe Air that plays video when certain key pressed on keyboard. However, the adobe air crash frequently when it try to load the video. The problem seems to be Adobe Air/ Flash player bug, because when I tried to do the debug, the debug launcher crash. I have tried with both f4v and mp4 format, but the situation is still the same.
I am using up to date Flash builder 4.5 and Adobe Air 2.7.1. Tested on both WinXP and Win7 Home Premium 32bit. Hopes to get your respond as soon as possible. If the problem cannot be solved soon, maybe I have to search for alternative solution to do the project. Thanks.

    Hi Pierre,
Would you mind adding this as a new bug report over at bugbase.adobe.com?  I went to look to see if there was an existing bug already in place but couldn't find one.  If you can, note this thread url in the bug and post back with the bug URL and I'll follow up internally.
In Yue's original bug, he was able to narrow this down to memory leaks in the spark component video display.  He ended up working around it by using the mx video display.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Mac book air crashed, when restarted it gets stuck on grey screen

I was using my MacBook Air (mountain lion osx) this afternoon as normal when the screen froze on me as if the computer had crashed. After a minute or two I decided to restart it by holding down the power button. The air turned off and back on, and got the the grey screen with the apple symbol as if it was re-booting but has been stuck there ever since?.
Any idea what's happened and how to resolve please.
    Thanks in advance.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat Step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 8
This step applies only to older Macs (not current models) that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery. Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. If you can't get to an Apple Store, go to another authorized service provider.

  • IPad Air crashes when on Craigslist on Chrome?

It's weird but my iPad Air 64 GB will respring (I think this is what it's called) when I'm trying to search craigslist.org using the Google Chrome app. Both the OS and Chrome are using the most recent updates. It's a refurbished one which I have had for about a week after they couldn't repair my 6 month old Air (that's a whole different issue) and it just started doing it today.
Google Chrome crashes a lot, but that's just a buggy app. When I'm in Chrome and I try to enter anything in the search box, my iPad flashes on the black Apple logo screen, and then back to the lock screen (not the lock screen you see after a reboot, the regular one). When I unlock it, Chrome has crashed, but other apps are still open.
Maybe unrelated, but I'm also having an issue typing into the text boxes on this forum using the on-screen keyboard. It won't happen at all using Chrome (a cursor won't appear and no type appears in the box), and the auto capitalization is really random, and the cursor jumps all over when trying to select text.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

well ipad still does not work. iPhone, android, PC work fine. had this pad for months. Used Craigslist everyday never a problem. Then one day using gallery mode re springs or whatever you call it. Shuts down chrome or Safari. Using mobile  instead of desktop is not a sure fix either as stated on the Craigslist forms. It works until you scroll pictures or go to the next page. Really wish they would fix this.

  • Office 2013 applications crash when opening/saving files in OneDrive for Business folder

    My setup:
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Office 2013 Professional
OneDrive for Business (connected to Office 365)
    Issue Description:
    Example 1:
    1.  I create a file in OneDrive for Business using the appropriate web app (Excel web app, for example).
    2.  I edit the file in the web app, I save the file in my OneDrive for Business
    3.  I sync OneDrive for Business with it's local folder
    4.  Now I open the folder in Windows Explorer and double-click the Excel file
    5.  Excel splash screen shows up for a bit, and then Excel crashes
    Example 2:
    1.  I open Word on my Windows 7 laptop
    2.  I start from a blank document and create some content in the document
    3.  I use the Save As option under the File menu to save the file to my local OneDrive for Business folder
    4.  As soon as I click the Save button on the dialog, Word crashes
The same happens with all the Office applications.
    Important Note:
If I run the above examples with Excel/Word in SAFE mode, there is absolutely no issue.
What have I done so far?
    1.  I have made sure that the DisplayLink driver is the latest version from the manufacturer
    2.  There is no bluetooth send-to add-in in any of the Office applications
    3.  No add-ins are enabled in any of the Office applications (not sure if there are "stealth" ones that are not visible in the Options/Add-Ins dialog?)
Any assistance with this would be much appreciated.

    Hi JeHarry,
Because I didn't have Windows 7, I did a test with Windows 8.1 based on your description. However, in my testing, everything worked well.
Please repair your Office under Control Panel, compare the result.

    Thanks in advance,

If you update your client to the most recent version, does the issue reoccur?
How many Singh's do you have at your company?  I'm curious if there's an active directory attribute that is returned with that user that the client really just doesn't like.  Can you go into Active Directory Users and Computers, select View->Advanced
then manually find Singh (don't search) and go to the Attribute Editor tab.  Do you see any attribute in there (not just Lync attributes) that seems to have any odd or escape characters?

  • IPad Air crashes when beginning to enter password after doing iOS 7.1 update!

I just did a iOS 7,1 software update to my iPad Air yesterday and now it crashes every time I begin entering my password on the first start-up attempt.  Then it is completely down with a black screen for approx 5 min before I can start it up again, at which time it will start after password is entered.

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • IOS8 Safari on iPad Air crashing when typing in the search bar

Downloaded and installed iOS8 on my iPad Air and iPhone 5c.  On my iPad Air, Safari is crashing nearly every time I type something in the search bar.  It isn't doing it on my iPhone 5c.  iPad Air is brand new (previous one had the cellular function die, so just traded it for a new Air).
I'm also having problems with WiFi staying connected.  Half of the time it drops, I have to retype the password again for the router.
Now if I could only get AT&T to ship my 6+ sometime this century....

I had this exact issue too as soon as I typed anything it crashed to home screen.
I resolved it by going to Settings - Safari - Clear History and Web Data.
    Hope this helps
