2013 is almost over... Where is IPv6?

Has anyone got IPv6 working or know when it will be available?  I currently have an MI424WR-GEN3I with the right firmware and have "enabled" IPv6, but not getting an address block.
What's the latest?

With all due respect, customer service does not know or does not share what's going on with IPv6.  I've been trying to get any mote of information about IPv6 status and plans from customer service.  I've called around a dozen times over the course of the last year, and not once has anyone had any information on it.

  • Windows Integrated Security with SSRS, Sharepoint 2013 and SSAS over http

I have the following setup and problem:
Sharepoint 2013 with SSRS in Sharepoint integrated mode
SSAS 2012 SP1 with http access (IIS + msmdpump) enabled on the same box as SSAS
Every component I have tried works fine with this (PerformancePoint, .bism connections, SSIS packages etc.), connecting over http using Kerberos and windows integrated authentication.
SSRS (.rsds) connections in Sharepoint fail a connection test when using the same http connection string + Windows integrated authentication which works for everything else. The error is: "Unsupported data format: -> Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataExtensions.AdomdTestConnectionException:
    Unsupported data format:"
SQL server profiler shows that the windows username is reaching the SSAS server is all cases.
Kerberos delegation is set up for SSAS and is working.
Switching the .rsds connection to saved credentials (same user as I tried with Windows integrated auth) works fine and SQL server profile logs look the same as the Windows integrated case.
So, everything seems to work with Kerberos + http apart from SSRS ... any idea welcome. I did read that SSPI is not supported for http connections but then again, there are sites which give examples of exactly such connection strings. I can't find any
mention of this case or exact problem anywhere ...

For information, this was fixed by applying the .NET 4.5.1 patch as advised by MS support. Now http connections from integrated mode SSRS work ok.

  • "Startup disk almost full", where has my HD capcity gone?

    Startup disk 80 GB, Ext 1: 500GB, Ext 2: 1TB (Partitioned: Time Machine 300 GB 2Ronnies 630 GB)
    Problem:
I was re-populating an iPhoto library by copying folders from Ext 1 to Ext 2 when I was warned that I had only 1 GB left on my startup disk. I have checked and I have not inadvertently created the new iPhoto library on my startup disk, it is where it should be, on Ext 2. Disk Utility says my startup drive appears to be ok and I have cleared my caches and log files using OmniDiskSweeper. I checked to see if there were any unusually large files on my startup disk and noticed my Volumes folder is showing 45 GB.
Listed below are the other large folders:
    Applications = 3.79
    System + 4.34
    Library = 7.76
    Users = 8.45
I listed the Volumes in Terminal and I can see that a partition in Ext 2 is listed 3 times.
    Question;
Is the thrice-occurring Ext drive the reason for my diminishing startup disk capacity? If so, what can I do to fix it and if not, what else could be the problem?
PLEASE HELP! Cadbury Creme Eggs are the only reason the above issue hasn't driven me over the edge and I am down to my last dozen!
P.S should Ext 1 be showing up in my volumes folder even though I have ejected the drive?

You have the "doppelganger volume" problem: http://db.tidbits.com/article/9620
    Question;

    Yes.
P.S should Ext 1 be showing up in my volumes folder even though I have ejected the drive?
Those are actually local folders that can be deleted, assuming they don't contain unique copies of files that should have been written to the external drive.
In the future, you can reduce the chances of the problem happening again by assuring that the external drive is mounted whenever you run anything that tried to access it.

  • Cannot install Windows 8.1 via Boot Camp on MBPr 13" Early 2013; tried almost everything.

    Hi guys,
yesterday, I decided to install Windows 8.1 on my Mac using Boot Camp. I tried to install it, but the first attempt ended into booting to the screen, where it says "Cannot find any bootable device" or something like that. So I googled it up and then tried the EFI Boot. The EFI Boot booted into the Windows installation properly, but I cannot choose the partition I want to install it on. I tried partitioning it in Disk Utility using Tuxera to NTFS, I tried formatting it in the installation itself, always restarted between the processes, I tried to delete the partition and create a new one in the installation, but no luck. I am still stuck on the error "Cannot install Windows on MBR partition. Please, choose a GPT partition". I have a 256GB SSD disk. I browsed the problems and solutions for 3 hours, but no luck. None of the solution helps. The only solution that would work I guess is if I don’t boot into EFI, but into the BIOS installation. But when I do that, I get the "Cannot find any bootable device", so a dead end here. I also tried the tips where they say to remove the USB stick when the Windows installation starts, but didn’t help either.
I am installing using a bootable USB drive, I do not have a Superdrive and cannot even lend it or something like that.
I am really desperate, can anyone please help me?
    Thanks in advance,
    DavidKop_

Some people have been successful installing 8.1 (me, for instance) despite it not being supported. However this seems to be hardware dependent.
I would have expected the normal WININSTALL option to be available on a Bootcamp-created USB, not just the EFI boot option.
It really depends on whether Bootcamp is creating a hybrid MBR when it creates the Bootcamp partition. Some later model Macs do not. On the Macs that do not create the hybrid MBR Windows may install in EFI mode.
If you remove everything and stretch the Macintosh HD back to the full size of the disc again then reboot and when the system restarts begin the Bootcamp installation again but do not let it restart at that time, you can then run the following code in the terminal and report its output we will be able to see if a hybrid MBR has been created (this is after the partition has been created by Bootcamp, but before it reboots).
    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

  • SharePoint 2013 - random authentication issue where users are suddenly anonymous

    Hi,
I've banged my head for too long now on this issue, so I'm hoping anyone here can shed some light on it. We're running on April 2013 CU but the problem has existed since RTM.
The issue is that some users (all of this random) can't access the site ("An error has occurred") and get an error page. The Web App is configured with Claims (NTLM and FBA Membership/Role Provider). No custom login page and configuration
for the web.configs is verified. It works 99% of the times, but occasionally a user gets an error and I have to restart the Distributed Cache to fix it.
1 WFE & 1 APP with SP2013 April 2013 CU with a few web apps. There's also a WAC server connected, but that shouldn't make a difference. The Distributed Cache runs only on the WFE:
    PS C:\> Use-CacheCluster
    PS C:\> Get-CacheHost
HostName : CachePort Service Name Service Status Version Info
    WFE.domain.local:22233 AppFabricCachingService UP 3 [3,3][1,3]
There's sufficient RAM to avoid the Distributed Cache to force purge data.
The logs seem to indicate that the user is seen as anonymous:

I'm figuring the Distributed Cache gets confused about the authentication tokens and starts handing out the wrong token to some users ? If I leave the Distributed Cache disabled it seems to permanently fix the issue, but that's not an ideal scenario.
    All help is appreciated!

please read about logon token cache section in
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/besidethepoint/archive/2013/03/27/appfabric-caching-and-sharepoint-1.aspx ;
And when anonymous authentication is enabled for a web application zone that use windows integrated authentication, SharePoint use WSS_Keepsessionauthenticated cookie to prevent reverting to anonymous. Also check the browser handling of this session cookie.
also, analyze the error logs in WSS_Logging database if the logging is turned on:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/8ba7b6e9-0b5d-4c4b-bd66-d2c72bb538b3/web-analytics-for-specific-pages-somehow-with-2010-unique-visitors#06b4fdd9-1d24-445c-bddc-db9cac1135e0 . The data volume can be large, so, don't do this in
a production environment, you can backup the WSS_logging database and analyze it elsewhere.

  • Just bought 2013 MBP, VPN over L2TP doesn't work

I've already been looking at other articles about this issue, but they all seem to be related to the OS X Server edition of Mavericks. I'm assuming this issue is probably the same on the regular edition of Mavericks as well. Does anyone know if/when a patch will come out to fix this issue and does anyone know a work around in the mean time, that doesn't involve copying racoon over from Mountain Lion, since I never had Mountain Lion in the first place

  • Native Exchange 2013 Journaling - Guidance over Storage Planning!

    Hi,
We are currently exploring full envelope journaling service using Exchange 2013 with Sharepoint 2013 eDiscovery suite for ALL internal and external messages for a largish enterprise ~40K mailboxes and need to accurately plan storage for the dedicated Journal
servers; we have used the standard messagestats powershell script to get send / receive and average message size and have some valid metrics to utilize however there is next to no actual guidance on how to plan storage for journaling published?
My question concerns which metric to use - unique send and receive OR total send / receive figures; I have reached out to some of my default Microsoft contacts and dug into how FE Journaling works under the hood and my understanding is that it is total send
/ receive for every message would be more valid to plan against?
    Any guidance would be great!

    Hi,
Do you mean you want to plan storage for journaling in Exchange 2013?
The storage will keep increasing as long as the new conversation is recorded. Targeting only the specific recipients can minimizes storage which is based on your requirements.
Here is an article about journaling in Exchange 2013 for your reference.

  • One year warranty coverage is almost over, should I get Applecare?

Just wondering what you all thought about spending another 249 bucks for three years of coverage...my Macbook is running smoothly, knock on wood, but down the road, who knows....
    battery...
    screen...
    motherboard....
    Superdrive....
    case...
Are there any issues that seem to appear often enough to justify buying the Applecare?
I also, have an Airport Extreme Base Station(n) that would be covered by the same plan, if I bought one, I think....
That means the 249 would cover my Macbook and my AEBS(n) for another 3 years...that sounds like better bang my buck....

MacBooks haven't really been around long enough to know what will come in the future as far as problems. However, I'd recommend getting AppleCare, just because portable computers are a bit more fragile than desktops.
I had an iBook before I bought my MacBook. The iBook was very reliable until right before the three-year AppleCare was due to expire. I can't say enough good things about the way I was treated -- because I had AC. The troubleshooting and repairs went on for several months after my AC expired, but it was all considered an ongoing problem, so there was no question about whether eligibility had expired or not. The iBook traveled to the Apple "hospital" via FedEx three times at Apple's expense, overnighted each time in a box Apple overnighted to me. My logic board and practically everything inside was replaced, as well as the keyboard (though nothing was wrong with that). The problem was finally correctly diagnosed as a faulty AirPort card and replaced -- and they sent me a brand-new Airport Extreme base station as a sort of apology at the whole thing having taken so long to figure out.
Needless to say, I bought AC again for my MacBook. Apple's customer service, in my experience, is exemplary.

  • My 27" late 2013 iMac crashes over and over again

My wife and I bought identical iMacs (3.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 32 GB 1600MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB) in December. Both are up to date on OS X Mavericks. It crashes while I am using it, it crashes on its own if I leave it on overnight.  Sometimes just Mail crashes. I have never been able to associate this with any particular event -- once I was watching a video, once I was playing a Flash game online, once I was just reading Facebook, once I wasn't doing anything, several times it was overnight when I left it running...you get the idea.  I thought it might be TuneUp, which seemed to destabilize my old iMac, but my wife just finally got hers up and running and she is getting crashes too, and she doesn't have TuneUp.
This was shipped directly from Apple to a local AppleStore - no modifications by me.  Currently no third-party devices, either -- just hooked up to my iPad and iPhone and a keyboard.
Looking at the discussion, this is endemic. Any new discoveries, or am I going to have to take this sucker back?
I can't read the technical data in the logs, but I will paste in the log on the last kernel panic (this morning).
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks--

The person above instructions were acurate. Also make sure your appdata folder is clear of the app's files. After the antivirus is gone click on finder in your dock. Then click Go. Once there click go to folder and type in "~/library/Application Support". There look around for the app's name. If a folder is named after the app is there, trash it. If it won't let you there are detailed instructions on how to force delete it. Just google. Now if you are still having the issue after the app is gone try resetting RAM. I recommend you do this first. If you are still getting errors click here. If the issue is still happening contact support imidiately, they can help.
Edited because I fail to do grammatical and spelling checks.

  • Okay, so I got this iPod 5 for Xmas from my parents, and I was wondering why there wasn't a camer on the front of is, however there is a black marking over where the iPod 4's camera is. Thank you

    I'm really annoyed about it

The 16 GB 5G iPod topuch only has a front camera that is mainly used for FaceTime.
The 32 and 64 GB 5Gs have both front and back camera

  • Error on install: exchange server 2013 cu7 install over the top of sp1

Running the update from elevated command prompt. Just finished two sets of windows updates and rebooted both times. Checked for updates and no more available. Run setup with accept policy command and receive this error just after the prerequisite check.
I've read that you just have to let the service finish but I've retried a few times with no luck.
Setup can't continue with the upgrade because the SFService (10544) has ope
n files. Close the process, and then restart Setup.

    Hi Jon,
please try the following Exchange PowerShell command:
Set-ServerComponentState -Identity yourserver -Component PopProxy -Requester HealthAPI -State Active
Sounds like Your imap Proxy is bad.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. Thank you! Off2work

  • Outlook BCM 2013 Auto-Dial Over VoIP Cisco SPA525G Phone

I get the error message, "The calling feature is disabled".

    Hi,
This behavior occurs if Outlook uses Lync as the default dialing program. It can be resolved by adding a TAPIOVERRIDE registry entry in registry. The detailed steps are provided as below:
    1. Start Registry Editor
Press Win + R and type “regedit” in the blank box, then press Enter.
    2. Back up the Registry
    Right click
Computer (the root key), click Export. Type in
Backup.reg as the file name and save the file on Desktop. Since serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly, this step is strongly recommended.
    3. Add a Call Integration key
    a. Navigate to the following subkey:
    For
    32 bit system: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook
    For
    64 bit system: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Outlook
    b. Right click the
Outlook key, click New, click Key. Type in
Call Integration as the key name.
    4. Add a TAPIOVERRIDE registry entry
    a. Right click the
Call Integration key, click New, click
    DWORD (32-bit) Value.
    b. Type in
    TAPIOVERRIDE as the name.
    c. Right click the
TAPIOVERRIDE entry, click Modify…. In the
Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    d. Exit Registry Editor
    5. Restart Outlook and check the feature again.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
