2013 Onenote

I get an error message everytime I try to open Onenote 2013 "Microsoft Onenote has stopped working" with no resolution to the problem.  All other 2013 programs work (Word, Excel).
I don't use skydrive by the way

Hi,
Run OneNote in Safe Mode, does this issue persist?
Press Win + R and type “onenote.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there is no issue in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to check the result.
Anyway, we can also try repairing OneNote as Ajo Abraham suggested.

  • Office 2013 OneNote on Terminal Server

    Hi,
Maybe I have a strange question but is it fully supported Office 2013 OneNote on TS? We are not using standalone. I am asking because many users have problem with connection when they trying to click on that link (when you open onenote) they get error:
Unfortunately, it seems that there are occasional problems with our servers ,
but everything is working locally but not in TS.
What can it be? Should be nice with few tips.
    Best regards

    Hi Kaktak,
Sorry if this is not of much help - I don't know that it is officially supported - but it doesn't seem to work well for a lot of people.
I have tried repeatedly to get it to work, never fully successfully.  The biggest issues I have hit all seem to revolve around the service clearing its cache and deleting its print queues every time someone logs in... its a real pain!
If you do make a breakthrough, keep me posted - I'm in the same boat and will let you know if I can come up with anything.

  • 2013 OneNote insert printout problem

Whenever I insert a pdf printout using 2013 onenotes, everything turned into black and white. How do I fixed this?
I tried to use the onenote app on my computer and it can inert pdf with all color images and text. I don't get why the desktop version doesn't work. Help please!

Ha!  Solved it.  It was SET to print to B/W all along.  To change it, pick a webpage (for example) to print.  In your printing options, select
"Print to OneNote 2013."  In the next screen,
look for a toggle/button/checkbox switching between printing in Color or Black & White.  Select Color.  Print to a test page somewhere in your OneNotes.  It should now show up in color.
Then, try the "insert printout" thing (the original problem asked about), and it too now inserts the printout in color.  Far out.
One other thing:  for lengthy printouts, to prevent that really annoying default of printing each page to a different OneNote page ...   Go into OneNote's Settings (File->
Options -> Advanced), scroll down toward the bottom, find the
Printouts section, and UN-check "print long printouts to separate pages" click OK.  Now it's all on one page.  Cool beans.
Wow.  My first solve.  Do I get a T-shirt or a new car or something?   ;-)

  • Project 2013 & Security updates

    Hi Everyone
I have Project 2013 installed on machines that have Office 2010 Pro running.
I have only noticed this now from October 2014 Patching.
It seems this machine wants all sorts of Office 2013 patches installed. (eg. Word 2013, OneNote 2013 , Outlook 2013, Office 2013, etc). However, this machine only has Project 2013 installed only.
In this scenario, is it normal for a machine like this to trigger other Office 2013 components to be as required installation, even though it does not have that component installed?
    Thanks, DM.

    Hi DM,
Based on your situation now, you have received above updates, but not installed yet. As far as I know, this issue usually happened if we have installed Office 2013 before and un-installed now. Sometimes, the Office 2013 info would retain
in registry key after removing, and then Microsoft Windows update center will check this info to send the updates.
On the other hand, it also might be related to
MSOCache folder. if we have it in C:\Windows, please try to remove it. (Please backup it before remove)
Next, if this issue still exists, Please try to upload the WindowsUpdate.log through OneDrive, we could do deep research. (Location: C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log)

  • Elementary Question for some but I need help accessing my Microsoft 2013 Pro applications

I recently purchased Microsoft Office Pro 2013. I understand it's in the "cloud".  My question is, how do I access the different suites within it.  With old Microsoft Office versions that were loaded onto my computer it was easy to
access either Word, Excel etc by clicking the icon on the desktop.  No such icon exists.  Currently I'm accessing the new version of Excel by pulling up an old Excel spreadsheet that exists on my computer and it comes up with the new version of Excel.
But what happens if I want to use, for example, PowerPoint under 2013 and I have no preexisting PowerPoint deck to pull up to access it.  There has got to be an easy way to see all the suites within 2013 but I simply don't know how.

    Hi,
Did you buy Microsoft Office Pro 2013 from the link:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/professional/
Have you got the Office installation package (MSI), or download/install it through click-to-run mothed?
I would like to say that your files and personal settings are on the cloud but the Office application is still installed on the local machine.
Microsoft Office Pro 2013 includes Word 2013, Excel 2013, PowerPoint 2013, OneNote 2013, Outlook 2013, Publisher 2013 and Access 2013, all of components should be there. If you cannot find the shortcut from the desktop, please create them from its default
    path. Thanks.

  • Collaborate on Excel workbooks with Sharepoint Foundation

My company recently implemented SharePoint Foundation 2013 and our shared Excel workbooks are no longer allowing multiple users to collaborate at the same time. We have verified that all the settings and permissions are correct and that checking in and
checking out is not required. Is this something that is not available with SharePoint Foundation? We are using Office 2013 installed on the clients, not Office online. Thank you.

Co-authoring of Excel workbooks is only supported when all the editors are using the Excel web application, not the Excel client application.
    From
    Microsoft's overview of co-authoring in SharePoint 2013:
    >"Co-authoring is easy to use from the end user’s point of view. When a user wants to work on a document in Word 2013, PowerPoint 2013, OneNote 2013, Visio 2013 or one of the Office Web Apps, he or she merely opens it from SharePoint 2013 or SharePoint
Online, as usual. If another user already has the document open, both users can edit the document at the same time.
One exception to this is that users can co-author in Excel Web App only if everyone uses the Excel Web App to access the workbook. If anyone uses Excel 2013 or Excel 2010 (the client application)
to access the workbook, co-authoring in Excel Web App will be disabled for that workbook while it is open in the client application."
    >"The Excel 2013 client application does not support co-authoring workbooks in SharePoint 2013 or SharePoint Online. But, the Excel client application uses the Shared Workbook feature to support non-real-time co-authoring workbooks that are stored
locally or on network (UNC) paths."

  • Cannot paste any online pictures from any websites into word/powerpoint/onenote 2013

I cannot paste any pictures/ images copied from any websites into word, powerpoint and onenote.
Now, i am so stressful because this strange problem occurs with both versions of Microsoft Office (2010 and 2013). I had updated the Microsoft Office from 2010 to 2013
with the hope that this problem will be solved in 2013 version but I was so disappointed. I was so addicted to onenote and cannot live without onenote. In the past, I always used onenote to store countless handmade-creating articles and so many other information
found on websites and other resources by simply copying (Ctrl + C) and pasting (Ctrl + V) them into onenote without any problems.
This strange problem has occurred and resisted approximate 2 months. Now I am almost going insane. I am longing for help, any help from the online community. Please!
I will describe the problem in more details.
-My laptop was Asus N550JV, and it was installed only one operating system: Window 8 single language by manufacturer. Nothing such as virtual machine or multiple operating
    systems in this laptop.
-This problem occurred with all websites, not only with a certain website or a specific website.
-It occurred with all of my latest-updated web-browsers, including firefox, internet explorer (which was pre-installed by factory in my window 8), opera, safari, chrome.
-Despite of using whatever web-browsers listed above, although the whole articles (text and pictures) on these websites were copied, however there was only text pasted
    successfully, excluding pictures.
-Pictures/ images were not pasted together with text. The onenote/word/powerpoint only shows a blank space where the picture should be in. If I click on this blank space,
a frame will appear covering this blank space inside, and the url address of this picture was shown. The
    “drawing tools”
tab appeared instead of “picture tools”
tab. I guessed the pasted pictures were considered as drawing objects, not as pictures.
-After many unsuccessful attempts to solve this problem in Microsoft Office, some days ago I decided to install Open Office of Apache in the same laptop in order to make
a control test between the two programs. I was successfully in copying and pasting text and pictures on many websites (using whatever web-browsers I am having) into text document of Open Office without any problems. Pasting pictures and text from websites
into Open Office was successful, so that what the hell was happened with my Microsoft Office?
-If I download or save the pictures found on websites to my laptop then using the
    “insert picture”
function to insert these pictures into word/ppt/onenote, these pictures were inserted successfully without any problems.
-Copying and pasting text and pictures from old articles stored in onenote to a newly created word document were successful without any problems. Copying and pasting text
and pictures between word and word, onenote and onenote were successful without any problems.
-It was concluded that this problem only occurred with online pictures pasted from websites, while inserting or pasting the downloaded pictures were successful
    without any problems.
-My internet connection was not disrupted during copying and pasting processes.
-My Canon laser printer only recognized and printed the text lines, there were only blank spaces in the places where the pictures should be in.
During two months since having this problem, I have searched so many times in order to find a solution. All of solutions listed behind I already found on internet and tried
them all but nothing worked! This problem still resisted in Microsoft Office 2013 and now I am so sad and tired because of it.
List of solutions I found and tried but nothing worked:
-Right-clicking then choose "paste option: keep source formatting”
and choose “set as default paste option"
    -On the
View tab of the Ribbon or on the status bar, choose
Print Layout view, not Draft view.
    -Go to
Office Button | Word Options | Advanced: Show document content and make sure that
“Show drawings and text boxes on screen”
is checked and that “Show picture placeholders”
    is not checked.
    -Go to
Office Button | Word Options | Display: Printing options and make sure that
    “Print drawings created in Word”
    is checked.
    -On the
Home tab of the Ribbon, locate the
Paragraph group and click the dialog launcher arrow in the bottom right corner to open the
Paragraph dialog; in that dialog, make sure that line spacing of the paragraph the picture is in is not set to an
    Exact value.
-Paste the picture and immediately press
Ctrl+Shift+F9 to unlink it. The picture will then be embedded in your document.
-If you find that Word hangs when you try to paste, you can instead select
Edit | Paste Special and choose “Device-independent Bitmap”
instead of the default of “HTML format.”->
I could not try this solution because my paste special options only had three choices: unformatted text, html format, unformatted unicode text.
-Select File, Options, Advanced, then under
Cut, Copy, Paste section set "insert/paste picture as”:
    tight/ inline with text/ through/ square/ top and bottom/ in front of text/ behind text… -> I have tried all
    choices but nothing worked.
-Rename the Normal.dot or Normal.dotm global template file: run cmd.exe and type
    ren %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dotm OldNormal.dotm. Then type
exit, and then press Enter. Or go to C:\Users\Home\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates to rename the Normal.dot/ Normal.dotm file manually.
-Turn off the "Use draft quality" option:
    Click
File, and then click Options. Click Advanced,
Under Print, click to clear the Use draft quality check box. Click OK.
    -Change the view to:
Print Layout/ Full Screen Reading/ Web Layout/ Print Preview
For Word 2010-2013: Click File, and then click Print.
    -Check the box for
    “Print background colors and images”
at File | Options | Display: Printing options.
    -Check the box for
“Show background colors and images in Print Layout view”
at File | Options | Advanced: Show document content.
-Using repairing function to repair the Microsoft office 2013.
Nothing worked! I have no clue of what have been happened with my Microsoft Office! Please help!
I cannot upload a screenshot taken from my laptop into this forum. It said that
body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account.

To Scxy1234: I also don't know why my paste special options only had 3 choices excluding "device independent bitmap'
To Steve Fan: I created the new second user account in my window 8. It was set as a standard account, not as administrator account as my first original user account. Specifically, i used the same email address with this forum account's to
create this second user account. It means that the second user account in my laptop also was a Microsoft account.
Can you guess what happened after i had logged in to the second user account? I opened some random websites by firefox, copied and pasted all text and pictures on these websites into a word document and onenote successfully without any problems!!!!
I saved this word document and exported this onenote section to a Usb. After that, i switched from second standard user account to my window administrator account and opened the two files which were saved to Usb previously. They were opened and displayed
normally as the same as what i previously had seen in the second user account, i.e. pasted text and pictures were displayed normally. However, when i opened the same web address again to copy the same text and pictures to word and onenote, there were only
text lines pasted successfully, excluding pictures! This old strange problem happened again when using original administrator account for logging in window. In contrast, when using the second standard user account to log in window, copying and pasting text
and online pictures of Microsoft office worked normally.
I truly don't figure out the reason(s) caused this strange problem. I think my case is a special case because i tried all solutions other people had tried but nothing worked.
    Please help me!
p/s: when i logged in the second standard user account, i opened the paste special options in word and there were only 3 choices under paste special options, excluding "device independent bitmap"

  • Office OneNote 2013 working with OneDrive for Business

M$ is going to be the death of me.
So here's what I have Windows 8.1 Pro with Office 2013 Pro with OneDrive for Business with our own SharePoint 2013 environment running on a tablet.
I open this lovely OneNote Product and all it asks me is to sign into my M$ Account, I don't want to use my M$ account I want it to just open and allow me to create a new notebook...  It just asks me to sign into my M$ account.  I don't want to
    do that.
So I got into my SharePoint document library, click New document, create onenote document, open it and OneNote prompts me to log into my M$ account....
I don't want to use my M$ account, I want to use my OneDrive For Business and the SharePoint 2013 environment we've paid thousands of dollars for...
Another funny thing I found is, OneNote 2013 for Mac, works with OneDrive for Business?!?!  On Windows?  NOPE!
    Am I missing something simple?

  • Exporting onenote to PDF page settings 2013

I am having the worst time with OneNote 2013: specifically with exporting a printed version of my class notes to PDF.
I am familiar with 'page setup', as well as using a 'custom' size to hopefully fit all my lectures notes in equal page sizes. It just seems like I am missing more settings somewhere embedded into OneNote's page setup settings.
What I ultimately want to do is download the lecture slides, write class notes on them, and export them in a PDF. The only issue the page size for this.  the 'custom page size' will allow to fit the width of the page, but never the length of the page.
Each page has to be printed in 2 pages since I cannot find how to set the length of the page to have the lecture slides fit. Simply increasing the 'height' setting during a 'custom' page size never seems to work frustratingly enough.
I have read how to export pdfs on this website yes, but where you find information about exporting page setups I have no idea.
Hope to hear from someone soon!

Hello. Did you ever figure out how to export with your page setup settings intact? I'm having a similar problem.

  • OneNote 2013: Font changes when pressing Enter / Return key

I have the same problem as this guy (who didn't get a relevant answer): http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/233833f7-dde8-414d-bdca-604ed8d57667/onenote-2013-font-changes-when-pressing-enter-return-key?forum=officeitpro
I set my default to Calibri 14, but every time I press enter (I make a lot of bullet lists) the font changes to Calibri 11.

    Hi,
Did you change the default font after you typed a few words in a note container?
Setting the default font in Microsoft Office OneNote affects text that you type in new note containers only. It does not affect existing text or text that you add to existing note containers.
If you want to change the font in an existing note container, you need to change it manually under
    Home tab > Basic Text.

  • Issues syncing with OneNote 2013 and skydrive

    Hi Support
I had a syncing issue on one of my OneNote notebooks. I used the MS help and they suggested that I confirm that the notebook is on the Skydrive web access, which it is, and then close the notebook. I have done that.
Now when i try and open the notebook by using the open notebook in One Note from the webapp, the notebook has nothing in there and it is giving a sync error.
We're sorry, something went wrong during sync. We'll try again later. (Error code: 0xE0000B70)
Can anyone help? I have tried all ways of trying to open the notebook.
I really hope that I have not lost this notebook.
    Regards
    Julie

    Hi,
When did you get this error? When you open the notebook in OneNote 2013? Or when open it in OneNote web app?
If the notebook can be opened in web app, it means
the problem may be caused by the desktop version of OneNote. Then, we can try closing and re-opening the notebook to check the result.
If the notebook not open even in web app, it means the problem may be with your server. We can
    check the
Microsoft Services status page for any known interruptions or outages.

  • OneNote 2013 - Cannot paste images

Hello! I have a issue with copying\pasting images in OneNote.
Example: I have an image on OneNote page. Then i copy or cut image to clipboard. When i try to paste image to any OneNote page,
only blank space inserts instead of copied image.
When i try to paste the same copied image from onenote to paint or word, for example, it works nice.
Copying\pasting from word\paint to onenote works nice. Text copied as expected.
    Only copying from OneNote
to the same OneNote app fails regardless of OneNote page\notebook..
    OneNote 2013 (15.0.4535.1507) 32bit.

Appologize for the mistake in my last reply. Based on my test, Paste(P) is the default and only Paste Options when we copy/paste image from one OneNote page to another.
Please try to use OneNote /safeboot to clear your local OneNote cache to check the result. To do this, press Windows key + R, type
OneNote /safeboot in the Run command and press Enter.
Please first try Delete Notebook Cache.
Note: When we delete the Notebook cache, you’ll lose your unsynced changes and you’ll have to reopen the notebooks. So please make sure all your changes have been saved before you start OneNote with safeboot.
If above not fix the problem, please try
    Delete Settings.
Note: Use Delete Settings will have your OneNote to use default settings, but you can change them later.
Please let me know the result.

  • Viewing a OneNote 2013 notebook in a browser.

I attached my OneNote notebook to my SharePoint library. I set the SharePoint site setting to view file in a browser; however, every time someone clicks on the file the operating system looks for the appropriate program to open the file. I want the file
should be opened in the browser. I want them to have read only access. I am reading about something called OneNote Web App now. I was hoping not to have to install software on all the computers that need to view my file.

You will need to deploy an Office Web Apps 2013 server (to a dedicated server) for this functionality.

    Hi,
I have restored a OneNote 2013 notebook for a user that by accident was deleted. After the restore it will not open again.

    Hi,
How did you restore the deleted notebook? Via backup or some recovery tool?
If you didn't do it via a backup, we may try recovering the notebook from the OneNote backup to see the result:
    1. Click File > Info > Open Backups.
    2. In the Open Backup dialog box, double-click the folder of the notebook you want to restore, select the notebook section you want, and then click

  • OneNote 2013 throwing error: There is a problem with your account. Please try again later on Windows 8.1

    Hi
I had Windows 8 installed on my corporate laptop till last week and as the OS crashed, I have re-installed the system with 8.1 and it has Office 2013 installed with my corporate ID. It is signed in Corporate credentials by default. But when I am trying to
use Switch Account option and trying to login with my Microsoft ID to sync my notebooks, it throws an error : "There is a problem with your account. Please try again later".
Note that My Microsoft is active and i am able to access the pages online.
Pls help with me with a resolution

    Hi Raj_Tan,
Thank you for posting this issue on the TechNet community forums.
From the description I understand that you're having problems signing into OneNote 2013 with your Microsoft account and that it's giving you an error: "There is a problem with your account. Please try again later". You mentioned you are able to
    access the pages online.
Could you please try the following:
Check if you are able to login to other office apps with your Microsoft account.
Check if you are able to login to the OneDrive app using your Microsoft account.
Try emptying all saved passwords from the credential manager:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/remove-stored-passwords-certificates-and-other-credentials
Although this link applies to Windows 7, the process is the same in Windows 8.
