2014-002 security update wifi disconnecting

Ever since I installed the 2014-002 security update, every time my macbook display shuts off or I shut the lid, and I log back on, the wifi is disconnected and I have to tell it to connect to my router again. I can't find any settings that may have changed.

Might be corrupted network preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
See if that makes a difference.
Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

2014-005 Security Update will not install "encountered unexpected error" message at end of install routine

    Thanks for the quick response.
I had already done that when it didn't load install completely from the app store notice.  It goes all the way to the final part of the installation including moving things in place etc, but a the very last moment it says "Installation failure - An unexpected error has occurred. Contact your software vendor."
I've never had any kind of situation like this with any installs, updates, or anything.  Everything else is completely up to date.  Steve.

  • Security Update 2014-002, Safari update issues

I have tested the latest 10.9.2 security updates on a client running DFX and it appears to completely break OS X. Our base image has proven faultless and unmodified (thanks to DFX) over 70+ clients for about a month.
Post security update installation, unable to login with error: Unapproved caller -SecurityAgent may only be invoked by Apple software. If a user is already logged in, any user initiated process that calls on PID 0 seems to result in the same error message.
This update seems to also kill Firefox (Latest version) with no returned error, just never seems to request proxy authentication.
I am too scared to test this on an unfrozen client (preventing me from utilising verbose boot) as I suspect it would entail a re-image. Below is the console log when attempting to use user fast switch. From what I can see, there appears to be some sort of strange permissions error but I am not really sure, anyone else suffering from this issue or have any solutions?

I'd expect to need to re-image here, based on what you're describing.   Load your current image somewhere, load the patch, unlock it, and see what you can get.   Usual general suggestion is a fairly thin image (usually "just" OS X), and then load up what you need on the clients via Munki or such, if you're not already following this general approach.  This makes re-generating images and updating hunks easier.
I've had issues with fast user switching and network users, and had to disable that for specific environments.  Not sure what you're up to here, though.

  • Disk Utility will not secure erase after 2015-002 security update

    HI
I have a Mac Book Pro, May 2010, 2.4 ghz; 8gb ram; 500 gig hd (which I installed in Sept 2013), running Mac OS 10.9.5.  I am running Disk Utility Version 13.
I run secure erase, single, three and seven passes, several times a week, and regularly clean out cache files.  I have used about 228 gb; 271 gb are free.
After installing Security Update 2015-002, I ran secure erase, single pass.  I got a failure message stating disk utility could not erase temporary file.  I ran secure ease, single pass, on the admin, everyday use and guest portions of my hard drive,  Same error message.
Is a solution beyond doing a Time Machine backup, wipe the hard drive clean on a single pass, and reinstall?  Buy a new hard drive?  Thanks

Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Then re-install the OS.

  • 2009-002 security update start up problems

I have to "coax" my tiger 10.4.11 Macbook pro into starting and I have a recurring permissions error after installing the newest security update. I repair them and it will still stall after entering the login password at that screen. Here are the errors:
    Determining correct file permissions.
Permissions differ on ./System/Library/User Template, should be drwx------ , they are drwxr-xr-x
    Permissions verification complete
Permissions differ on ./usr/standalone/i386/boot.efi, should be -r--r--r-- , they are -r-xr-xr-x
It will boot into safe mode every time, but its like pulling teeth and takes many hard powerdowns to get it to boot normally. Does anyone know enough about the boot process to help me out? Thanks!

    nebster wrote:
Thanks Dale, I did run the disk utility and the disk checked out fine every time.
Did you actually run the disk repair (not permissions)?
I haven't done the whole verbose mode/fsck thing I've read about, do you think it's worth a shot?
No, If you use Disk Repair it is actually more robust then fsck in Tiger.
The first time this happened I took it to the genius bar and they did an archive and install, but they installed the same security update (2009-002) again, so I'm again having the same bootup issue.
I don't think the security update is the issue....I run 10.4.11 on my G4 , with all updates installed, and have no issues. More likely, there is something weird in your system that the update is bringing forth, or you just have a startup login issue.
+Archive and Installs+ can leave you with problems from the previous install.
Do you have a backup? If not, are there things on the drive that you can't afford to lose?
I'm thinking I just need to save up 150 bucks and bite the Leopard bullet...
Do you really need Leopard? If not the same can be accomplished with an +Erase and+ Install of Tiger. But it will wipe out everything on the drive, hence the backup question. Or you could get a better utility to help. What exactly happens when you try to bootup?

  • 10.6.5 Security update WIFI issues

Everything was fine until I received a 10.6.5 Security Update. Now I don't have any WIFI. I've done everything as far as resetting all settings, etc. No issues with router as it works fine with other devices. Any suggestions?

I am having the same issues. I'm not sure that the update was what caused the issues but it seems to have made it worse. I can get it to connect for a minute up to sometimes 30 min. Once it drops the connection I cannot get it to re-connect and the MacBook cannot see any of the networks in my neighborhood.
I have reset permissions, reset the PRAM, run all daily, weekly, and monthly scripts, and run just about everything on Onyx that I think would fix the issue. I am at a loss.

  • After 2013-002 security update quick look preview does not work with Office files

As title, one of best feature of Snow leopard is definitively dead!!
Office.qlGenerator is at the same path. How can i solve this bug??

Hi Yeehat and thanks for your replay.
Doing my MacBook Pro is a production machine i preferred to not waste more time to proof understand the issue  and try to solve it by a workaround.
So i have reinstalled SL and it's last combo update, repaired system permission by installation disk. Now all works fine and have had no problem with applications and other settings. Magic: no loss of data or app settings. Now Office file quick look previews all files (old and new).
Font Library also works well, except about a font that which it's probably corrupted (or not compatible even if it seems to be)
At the moment i've not installed the last security update...I'm too afraid of having to start all over again :-)))
First I'll try to read up best on solutions in case Quick Look do still the same issue.
I know that it is not a "solution" but i was wasting too much job time. I think i will survive a few more weeks without it !!! :-)
    Thanks again

  • Latest CC 2014 Acrobat Security update crashed my Macbook (2008, Lion 10.7.5).

A couple days ago, I was notified by CC that I had a security update for Acrobat. While installing, it crashed my computer. When I restarted, I no longer had the notification, my CC dashboard says its “up-to-date” and there is no record in my history that the program was updated. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I delete the current Acrobat app and reinstall?

Please follow the steps mentioned in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed

  • Security Update 2014-001 Woes

After Security update 2014-001, I can't quicklook any video or audio files (images/text/pdf still work) and when trying to load Facebook or IMDB in Safari, the pages will load, reload three times, then I get a 'Safari Web Content quit unexpectedly' pop-up.
If I open Safari, set cookies to 'never block' then back to my normal setting of 'block third party & advertisers' the pages will load normally.  I have to do this every time I start the browser for those pages (and my bank's website) to load properly.  I'm using Safari 5.1.7 by the way, because I use RSS everytime I browse the web, I want it built into my browser instead of hassling with another app, and they dropped support for it in 6+.
For video/audio files I no longer get a preview of the file in the icon—just generic movie or mp3 icons—and attempting to quicklook those files gets me a window featuring the icon and a message that 'there was an error with the preview of this file.'
I remember when I used to look forward to updates, now I examine them carefully before installing to see what functionality I use all the time that the 'upgrade' is going to take away.  Even after hesitating and reading up on 2014-001 before installing, I still got bit.  I'm just about ready to huck the #@!$ computer out the window.
How do I uninstall the security update so I can resume normal web browsing and restore quicklook function?

What a pain.  I finally managed to fix things by booting from the Lion recovery disk, reinstalling Windo—oops, I mean Lion, then running Software Update and ignoring the 2014-001 security update.
I then set Software Update to never check for updates again.
Voila!  Quicktime player works again!  Quicklook previews audio/video files again!  Safari works again!

  • Security Update Sync Services MS Office

I am trying to perform the 2011-002 security update on my MacBook, but I keep getting the message to close sync services in MS Office. I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone shed light on this. Thanks!

    Hello Ruud
Office 2007 is not known to me, just 2003 but according to your description there must be some false setting. Did you check all possibilities under advanced settings?
By the way: this issue is not notebook specific and you should contact Microsoft about every Microsoft specific problem.

  • Restarting taking forever after Security Update 2014-002

I just downloaded Security Update 2014-002 and my Mac Mini is taking forever to restart after the download and installation process finished. I'm running the latest version of Mavericks and my Mac is stuck on restart! What should I do?
    Need help! Thanks.

Tap the space bar on your keyboard once. The dispaly may be sleeping.
The first restart after the update here was longer than usual but I restarted one more time, it was back to normal boot time.
After the restart, open the App Store then select Updates from the menu.

  • Slow Sleep Wake-Up after Security Update 2014-002 MacBook Air

Hello! I have a 2013 August MacBook Air. I experienced the "screen goes black, hard restart" issue for many months until one of the updates cured that issues, thank goodness. I just updated with Security Update 2014-002 and just noticed it took about 20 seconds for my MacBook Air to wake-up from sleep mode. I was fearful it was back to the "black screen, no wake-up" issue with this update, however when it finally came back up I was relieved albeit very cautious now. Anyone else have this same issue?

    Hello macforme
If you are having issues with waking from sleep and slow startup times, then check out the article below. The main thing to try is to reset the SMC and NVRAM as a starting point sort the issue out.

I'm trying to update my Mac Book AIR 1.7 GHZ i5 4 GB with the security update 2014-002 1.0 on 10.9.2. After downloading via Mac App Store it restarts the machine and shows a message "Sicherheitsupdate 2014-002 konnte nicht verifiziert werden. Es wurde beim Laden möglicherweise beschädigt oder verändert. Klicken Sie auf „Aktualisieren“, um es zu laden und prüfen Sie das Update erneut." Alternatively i downloaded the SecUpd2014-002Mavericks.dmg manually directly from Apple but then i get an error that the DMG is corrupt so i can't start the update. I also downloaded the OSXUpdCombo10.9.3_13D45a.pkg but while running the installer it verifies the package with the result "Beim Extrahieren von Dateien aus dem Paket OSXUpdCombo10.9.3_13D45a.pkg ist ein Fehler aufgetreten." I'm trying to update my Mac Book AIR 1.7 GHZ i5 4 GB with the security update 2014-002 1.0 on 10.9.2. After downloading via Mac App Store it restarts the machine and shows a message "Sicherheitsupdate 2014-002 konnte nicht verifiziert werden. Es wurde beim Laden möglicherweise beschädigt oder verändert. Klicken Sie auf „Aktualisieren“, um es zu laden und prüfen Sie das Update erneut." Next Maverick starts normal and isn't updated. i tried this several times. Alternatively i downloaded the SecUpd2014-002Mavericks.dmg manually directly from Apple but then i get an error that the DMG is corrupt so i can't start the update. I also downloaded the OSXUpdCombo10.9.3_13D45a.pkg but while running the installer it verifies the package with the result "Beim Extrahieren von Dateien aus dem Paket OSXUpdCombo10.9.3_13D45a.pkg ist ein Fehler aufgetreten." Any ideas?
