206 security keyguard

Hi,
I'm unable to change Nokia 206 security keyguard security code.
Its always the default 12345.
How to change it, really?
This feature of changing the security keyguard has been available and workin in previous
Nokia phones since last decace - is it a software quality issue or what? Whats the idea of
having security keyguard with security code which everyone knows or which everyone can quess.
Best regards,
Hez

    Hi Dhdhdharani,
2 hours is too much. 10 minutes as suggested by Scoobyman will suffice. Removing the SIM card and the microSD card is not really necessary but OP can give it a try still.

  • Security, and pin blocking!

hi there, i jus got a new nokia today the 5300, and im trying to put a block on my text messages, and media....i cant seem to figure that out.. can some one help. i have done the security pin, and i still allows people to roam through my stuff, and i dont know the pin code? i jus got the phone , brand new in box, and theres no default pin in the booklet, like the security code. some one please help, i have a problem with people always trying to go through my stuff when im not looking.

The default pin code is set by your network, contact them for the code or look at the paperwork from your operator.
You can't lock specific items but you can lock the phone.
Goto: Menu > Settings > Phone > Security Keyguard.
When ever you unlock your phones keypad it will require you to enter the five digit security code to access the phone.

  • Nokia 6300 won't unlock keyguard

Hello i got a nokia 6300 for christmas and i decided to try out the security keyguard. i used the default code 12345 and locked the keypad. my younger brother tried around 20 times to unlock the keypad and now the keypad won't unlock. how do i unlock my phone? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remove the battery for 30sec & put it back & check. If it fails your younger brother might accidentaly changed the default, then a trip to Nokia Care Center for reflash the only option.

  • Security on nokia 5300?

I was wondering if its possible to set a password or code on my phone so nobody but me can look thru my phone? I dont want people looking thru my texts, calls and such.
    thank..

yes, it is possible. follow the steps below and you'll be able to lock your phone's keypad and you'll ONLY be able to unlock it unless you have the security code.
go into settings > phone settings > turn on security keyguard.
the security number by default on most nokia phones is 12345, and this can be changed from the security settings.
this'll stop anyone who has your phone from reading your texts because they won't be able to unlock the phone without the security code
PS. security code is DIFFERENT from your PIN code.. don't get the two confused.
    hope that helped
    saut.

  • 6070: Security code on startup (not pin)

Am I missing something or is there no way to have the security code active for when you switch on the phone? My 6070 asks for a PIN code (which is what I want) but then there is no phone/security code after that? I did look in Settings | Security | Security Level but that didn't seem to help. I have Automatic keyguard on after 15 seconds but do not want the security code asking each time Automatic keyguard kicks in so Security keyguard is off. Thanks

    Yes i think that too.

  • Simple inquiries regarding keylock and security.

    Hi,
I recently bought a Nokia phone, I first read the whole manual which comes with the product 3 times and I’m still discovering the phone but I still have few inquiries regarding keylock and security which the showroom didn’t mention.
To lock the keypad to prevent accidental or unwanted keypresses, I select Menu key then *, while for unlocking, the same step is required along with providing the lockcode which I already set in Menu > Settings > Phone > Security keyguard. Nothing easy then this :robothappy:
Here are detailed questions as per guidelines.
    A) Question here is: what are the differences between “Menu > Settings > Phone > Security keyguard” and “Menu > Settings > Security > Access codes > Change security code”??
after reading the manual, I now know that “phone > Security keyguard” is to simply lock the keypad with a security code decided here too, but what about “access codes > Change Security Code”? is it the same as “Security keyguard” (i.e. lock keypad with a code)? are they of any relation to each others?
In other words: I know when “Security keyguard” is required (lock keypad with a code), but what are the cases when “security code” is required?
    B) in “Security keyguard”, each time (that’s always) when we want to lock the phone (i.e set Security keyguard to ON) we are automatically prompted to set a password to be able to lock the phone (I’m 100% sure of this). So what is code 12345 useful for while we are always prompted to type a password each time we set the keyguard on! I’m afraid it’s not that clear in the manual. In other words When might this 12345 be used?
Is it used to unlock keypad for example, maybe no! because as I said each time we want to lock the phone with keyguard we’re prompted to set a code.
oh and how to change 12345 that’s if it’s of any use anyway?
I’m a newbie in mobile phones’ matters, so bare with my silly questions but I really don’t want to deteriorate the mobile phone now in holidays when careline is out of service.

thanks to areef_apu i noticed the relation between “Security keyguard” and “Change security code” you said that the “Security code”12345 is used for “Keyguard security”!! wow that’s right. I got this wrong in my question since while I was learning about and activating“Security keyguard” it seems that I was accidentally using the code 12345 without any intention, which made me confused thinking that “security keyguard” code is decided at the same time while setting “security keyguard” while I didn’t know that I was actually telling it the already set security code and not typing a new one here!
So “Menu > Settings > Phone > Security keyguard” is really related to “Menu > Settings > Security > Access codes > Change security code”. Simply said, for keypad lock, the screen asking us to type a code while activating the “Security keyguard” is Not asking us to decide a New code but it’s actually asking us the code already set in “Access codes > Change security code”. that’s the relation.
Thanks so much to both cjlim and areef_apu +1 Kudos point each this now makes sense for other newbies reading this since I’m newbie myself.

  • Nokia 1208 Keyguard

I can find my way to the Keyguard on/off option, but cannot find the unlock details in the user manual.
I want to lock the keypad to avoid ringing the emergency services by mistake (again ). Can anyone tell me how to establish the unlock keypad code please.
    Thanks in advance.
    Vic

I'm saying that typical emergency numbers override the keypad lock. If a phone keypad is locked, it will still accept the key combination for an emergency call.
If I found you inconscious by the roadside and picked up your locked phone, I wouldn't be able to dial my friend in Australia or snoop on your text messages without knowing your lock code, but the phone would still let me dial for an ambulance to come and rescue you. This is a common safety feature, emergency numbers can always be dialled whilst the phone has power - even if it is locked.
If you have activated the Security Keyguard, then it is the security code or lock code that you need to unlock the phone - this is 12345 as standard, but you can change it to a personal code. But even with it on, you don't' need that - 999 will still work.

  • How do I set up a lock code for my Nokia C2-02?

Hi, I have a used Nokia C2-02 phone from a seller on eBay.
I wish to protect my privacy so that other people cannot access my texts, etc.
When I go to 'settings', 'security', and click on 'access codes', in order to set up a lock code,  the display says'change security code'.
When I ckick on it, I get a request for my security code.
Twice now I have keyed in'12345', which I take to be the default code.
Each time I get an error message and the second time it said that I have only one more chance to key in the correct code.
Perhaps the previous owner had a code, which I take to be the same as a security keyguard code.
When I go to 'device' in 'settings', it says that the security keyguard is off.
I can switch it on, but to activate it I again need to key in a code.
Am I corect in thinking that either someone has alrerady set up a code or the default code is not '12345'?
Also, What can I do to set up my own code?
Fianally, What if I use a pin code? Will that protect my privacy?
Do I have to get in touch with my network provider ( Tesco Mobile) in order to set it up?
I'd appreciate any help anyone can give,
    Laurence

If I used a  pin code instead, would it protect my privacy?
would it stop those without the code reading my texts and so on?
PIN Code is basically for the SIM card and not the phone. Talking of privacy, your phone will be fully explorable if the SIM card is removed, so PIN scenario is pretty wasteful. Majority of the phones only ask for the PIN code when the phone is started and register the SIM to the network only wen PIN is furnished.
If It does not work I could find that I have locked the phone, which could necessitate sending it to the Nokia Care centre.
This is where the online free service may come in. It claims that it can find the security mastercode for any individual phone, based on the IMEI number, which you access by keying in asterisk, hash, 06, hash, or by taking the back off the phone and looking inside.
Armed with the 10-digit mastercode you key it in and it unlocks the phone.
That, at least, is the claim, but on another mastercode site there's a warning that the mastercode works only for older models.
I have my mastercode, but I don't know whether to take the chance.
Does anyone have any views on this?.
    , Cheers, Laurence
Unfortunately, these type of Master Codes do not work. If ever they worked, the phones would become too easy to break in. As far as I can remember, I have not seen any person with a claim that one of those Master Codes worked for them. Maybe they worked for very very old 1st gen devices from Nokia, but not anymore. The security code is based on what user enters in the settings and there doesn't exist any master code to over-ride that. If it would, Nokia Care should be making use of that instead refurbishing/flashing the phones in every case that called for Keyguard Code.

  • Locking / Hiding Folders In X2-01

    Hi,
    I recently bought X2-01
I want to know that is there any way to lock or hide folders in X2-01?
    Need Help
    Regards
    Shan ALi Khan

    Hi shankhan
The Nokia X2-01 runs under S40 6th Edition, which does not allow the user to hide items on the gallery or file manager. The best way is to create a security password to protect the phone from unauthorised use.
You can create or setup a security keyguard by going to Menu> Settings> Phone> Security keyguard> Set it to ON and choose a password.
    Good luck

Go to Menu > Settings > Phone > scroll down to Security keyguard > turn on - it will request you input lock code - you will screen prompt "Security keyguard enabled".

  • X3 02 very bad

Hi this is unbelievable how Nokia can do this..?
My sister recently purchased a X3-02 thinking it was nice & functional..WOW was she wrong.
To her & my dismay we find there is NO security code lock feature (the one that can be activated to come on so no one can go through phone content or make unauthorised calls)
The only security phone lock on this peice of junk is enabled when someone inserts a different SIM card inside or something.
This phone has so many bad design faults, the touchscreen is so unresponsive, have to hit it twice before it takes action.
There is NO front camera, she thought there was a front camera because theres a small black square on the top right hand side of the screen.
This phone is not up to expectations & for nearly £100 I wouldnt call this a low cost handset.
Previously a 6120c had better functionality than this peice of junk.
Why are nokia not up to scratch on products these days??
Will / can Nokia add the security code phone lock feature in next firmware update? I doubt that will happen, so it looks like this handset is going in the bin, because we would feel guilty selling this junk to a person.

In the user guide of the X3-02 is says that you can set a lock code on the device which wil activate when you're not using the device.
From the user guide:Lock your device
Want to protect your device against unauthorized use? Define a security code, and set
your device to lock itself automatically when you're not using it.
    Set a customized security code
1 Select Menu > Settings and Security > Access codes > Change sec. code.
2 Enter the preset security code, 12345.
3 Enter a new code. A minimum of 5 numbers is required. Only numbers can be used.
Keep the security code secret and in a safe place separate from your device. If you
forget the security code and your device is locked, your device will require service.
Additional charges may apply, and all the personal data in your device may be
deleted. For more information, contact a Nokia Care point or your device dealer.
    Activate the security keyguard
Select Menu > Settings and Phone > Secur. keyguard > On.
The device is locked when the keys and screen are locked. You need the security code
    to unlock the device.
However, if what's above is wrong you might have the rights to get the money back or get another phone as it is not fit for use.. Check it out first.
But you cannot blame Nokia for not having a front facing camera on it just because your sister thought a black spot on the top corner was a cam. Even though it is a pitty, it's quite unfair to blame Nokia for that.

  • Why the 5 minutes break?

Hi all, I don’t know if this is a known matter and if there’s a solution.
Normal procedure for locking keypad and unlocking:
I set "Security keyguard" and "Automatic keyguard" On to lock the phone,
I go to homescreen and wait 1 minute for it to be locked,
I press Unlock key (here it’s menu key) and * key (star key) then enter correct Security code 12345.
    Phone is Unlocked.
Nothing’s easy then this. But what if I type wrong codes for a few times just as a test:
I set "Security keyguard" and "Automatic keyguard" On to lock the phone,
I go to homescreen and wait 1 minute for it to lock,
I press unlock key and * key and enter random wrong codes for a few times (NOT 12345),
phone is still Locked due to wrong Security codes with message “Code error”. Good!
Now I press Unlock key and *key and this time I enter correct Security code 12345 then ok.
But Phone is still Locked with message “Code error”!!!! I retry entering correct Security code 12345 again with no luck.
what do I do? I waited 5 minutes and retried entering Security code 12345 again and OMG this time it’s Unlocked. Good.
to make sure of this, I repeated steps 1 to 7 and same matter.
Why does the phone lock itself completely on me for 5 minutes that's after a few Erroneous security code test attempts (maybe 3 or 5) even if after this I directly enter correct Code 12345 but it's still locked??
Is there any extra Security code in this case? how to let the phone accept the correct code before 5 minutes?
