20th anniversary mac service parts

I'm curious if anyone has ideas on how I might find a CD-ROM to replace the CD-ROM in a 20th Anniversary Mac.
I have a TAM a friend used, and I'm trying to ready it for sale.  If you put in a CD, you hear the CD clicking, but the CD doesn't spin.  I've tried manually moving the spindle (as some older CD-Drives of that nature would sometimes have lubrication problems), but no luck.
I've searched the web all over and cannot find if the service parts may even exist.  The drive is unique in that it opens to reveal the disc in place (rather than having a slot, a caddy, or a door that holds the disc). So even though that machine has a lot in common with the Powerbook 3400, the CD-ROM drive is different.
Ideas?

I don't know if you still need help on fixing your TAM CD device. I had the same problem.
As you know, CD devices for the TAM are rarely available on eBay and cost a fortune (last auction I saw maybe went for 200 bucks or more). The Apple 600i SCSI CD-ROM (tray-loading) internally is very similar to the design of the TAM CD.. They regularly pop up on eBay for $10 to $20. Model CR-504-C appears to be the closest match.
I bought one for $10, opened it up and discarded the casing. The circuit board is identical except for a couple wires controlling opening/closing the loading tray, and an IC chip. The motor mechanism is an identical match. I swapped the motor assemblies (carriage and all) after transferring over the rubber grommets for the TAM. Put my TAM back together, and the CD works flawlessly!
If your problem is not with the motor carriage, then you can try using the circuit board after swapping the IC chip. If it's a problem with the chip, this solution may not work. Seems to me, there is a much higher possiblity of the motor assembly going bad than with the chip.
There is currently an auction on eBay for several of these devices for $15 with free shipping. Can't hurt, only $15. Search eBay for AppleCD 600i CR-504-C. - Fred

  • Airport Express to play music through 20th Anniversary Mac?

I'd like to be able to play music through the Bose sound system in my G3-upgraded 20th Anniversary Mac.  I've used a very early version of iTunes but it annoyingly pauses fairly frequently while playing for some reason.  Since I have an early Airport Express and have an Ethernet adaptor in the TAM I wondered if it's possible to connect the TAM via cable to the Airport Express and stream music from an iMac connected wirelessly to the Airport.  It seems a shame not to utilize the Bose speaker system for music.  Thanks for any ideas and suggestions.

As far as I know this isn't possible. I might try some stuff using my TAM (although results may very, mine isn't a production model) to see about figuring something out. If the computers sit close enough together you might be able to run a 3.5mm(1/8") headphone cable between the iMac's audio out and the TAM's line in, that or make use of the FM tuner and listen to some awesome FM stations.
Now that I think of that you can invest in something like the link I'll add at the bottom of this, connect it to the speaker port of the iMac then use the tuner on the TAM to tune into the frequency of it. This would also allow the connecting of something such as an iPod.

  • 20th Anniversary Mac and Networking

I have a 20th Anniversary Mac running OS 7.6.1. Our internal network is based on Windows 2003 servers. How can I get the 20th Mac on the internet? I have a NIC card installed. I have tried letting it use DHCP, manually setting the IP, etc., but nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas?

  • Screensaver for 20th Anniversary Mac

Hello, I'm looking for a screensaver for my old and bautyful 20th Anniversary Mac. Somebody knows where to find a screesaver (aquarium style...) and if it works with OS 7..6.1 ? Thanks

    rmpostal,
After Dark was the most widely used screen saver.  A google search revealed several options.  Email if you need a disk copy.
    Here is an OS-X version:

I did not spend a lot of time searching for the older downloads because it would be faster to walk upstairs and copy it off the TAM.

  • 20th Anniversary Mac and iTunes

I read somewhere that it might be possible to use the TAM Bose sound system with streamed iTunes music. I have a 350 MHz TAM with a 10/100 ethernet card. Is it possible to stream from my G5 iMac to the TAM with Airport Express and Airtunes? I have iTunes V.2 on the TAM but I'm sure no one was thinking of this capability in those days. The Bose sound system is so good that I'd really like to utilize it if possible. Any help or pointers would be much appreciated to keep this computer going.

Well, in this case, you have two options. With the iMac G5, the AirPort Express, and the TAM, you can use the AirPort Express for streaming. You can either have the AirPort Express hooked up to the Bose Speakers alone, and you could control the songs from the iMac, or you could hook up the Bose system to the AirPort Express, and hook up the TAM to the AirPort Express with ethernet. Now you could turn on sharing in both iTunes on both computers, (if iTunes 2.x supports sharing) and control the shared songs from ur iMac to be played through the bose speakers.

  • Find my Mac service OR serial number tracking?

I recently had my MBP stolen along with a few other things.
One of the first things I did was to log onto icloud.com to configure remote wipe on the device.
That was about a month ago, still no sign of it.
Now I'd like to think it hasn't been opened yet, and the culprits haven't even figured out how to get online with it, but some thieves can be quite shrewed.
The thing I'd like to know (preferably from Apple themselves), is what can be done about tracking the device and it's access to the App Store from Apple's point of view.
The Find my Mac service is awesome, but it has a SERIOUS flaw - it allows you to disable/enable the service without requiring a password.
So if somebody gets onto your mac, they simply need to go disable the icloud services while offline, and they're home free.
I'd like to know whether it's possible to get:
Access to see login attempts/(un)successful logins BY DEVICE (Type and Serial) using your AppleID - surely not a ridiculous request?
I'm sure it's not in Apple's best interest to 'brick' the device if we were to report it stolen - rendering it useless in the Apple Ecosystem - that's the loss of an additional(albeit dishonest, thieving) Mac user . But ye it would be awesome to be able to render the device useless at a hardware level. There has to be SOME benefit to being constantly joined by the hip with Apple and its services?
Personally I don't think the Find My Mac service is something that should be managed/set/unset from the device itself - that makes no sense - unless the feature's settings are always password protected - which it isn't.
SO, that being said - is there any way or procedure in which we would be able to get the abovementioned stats/information - it is related to our own AppleIDs afterall.
    Thanks
    Looking forward to ANY response.

*sigh* Was hoping for more helpful and informed response than that - I just lost a bet.
I don't want to nitpick around LOST vs STOLEN here, and I'm not suggesting Apple become a policing body in this whole mix.
    My request is around
    1. The fact that if my 'LOST' device were 'FOUND', the security measure called  Find my Mac/Iphone has a flaw in that it can be disabled without requiring any authentication - maybe an enhancement to be made here?
    2. How possible would it be at some point to be able to see logins and attempts on our AppleIDs along with the device information - such as serial number and device type associated with it. Quite possibly an invaluable feature as part of the MARKETED security and privacy features given at the moment.
Lastly, Prey is nothing more or less than what Find my Mac/Iphone is, except that it'll require authentication to enable/disable. So suggesting that Prey ARE the police and WILL help with recovering stolen products is a bit contradictory.
Lol and hopefully the next response doesn't begin with a juvenile 'First of all...' - not a good start

ARD, to the best of my knowledge, does not work via Back To My Mac. Certainly it's not an direct or obvious feature, though I can't say that there might not be a workaround I've not heard of.

  • Mapping of CRM  Billing Document to GTS within Service Parts Management

    Hello,
We are currently implementing Service Parts Management with GTS.
We would like to map certain fields coming from CRM Billing to the GTS Customs Document.
Does anyone know which BADI/user exit can be used to complete this mapping.
We have seen that to be able to transfer billing documents to GTS we need to activate Service Parts Management.
Further, how can we get the values for these fields into the customs documents , once these are mapped.
Which BADI, structures, tables are used for this?
Does anyone have a sort of data structuring model for the different fields in the customs document , on header and item level.
How fields are triggered. This could be very useful to have this kind of documentation for doing enhancements etc...
Now we are struggling with structures.
    Thanks in advance
    Regrds
    Frank

    Frank,
The key tables for the customs document are:
    /SAPSLL/CUHD (header)
    /SAPSLL/CUIT (item)
    /SAPSLL/CORPAR (partners)
You can find additional tables in SE16 by search for table names that start with /SAPSLL/CU* or /SAPSLL/COR*
Unfortunately, I am not sure about the BAdi for document transfer from CRM but the available BAdi's should be listed in the IMG in CRM similar to ECC.

  • Can't update iPhoto, because Mac is part of Up-to-Date Program

I had some interesting mail traffic with Apple, but now I am stuck.
I bought a Macbook Pro early August this year. When I open my App-Store it says that I have one update for iPhoto. When I click the update-button, it says that I have to buy the product. I mailed Apple to ask why I can not update, since I bought my Mac after Lion was released and I should have the rights to download any update for the software that comes with it. After a long conversation the status quo is: I either have a refurbished Mac, which is not the case, or my Mac is part of the Up-to-Date program. This means that initially Leopard was installed on my computer and Apple just changed the OS to Lion. All good with me, but I ordered a Macbook with Lion, not one with an updated system that causes problems, ie gives apple more money since I have to buy software now.
Can I get a new Mac with Lion as the initial OS or can Apple give me some codes that allow me to get the updates for free?
    Thanks for any reply.

If you purchased iPhoto through the MacApp store (MAS) then you can update via the MAS. There have been some bugs in how the update is displayed in the MAS. The key is - where did you get iPhoto from - the MAS or via the MBP when you purchased and iPhoto was already installed on the MBP.

Mac pro part# FA356LL/A (refurbished i think changes the part number from MA356LL/A)- but im not sure...
I need to know what airport card it can take?  802.11b/g/ or n
It never had one and was always used via network cable. Now i want it to have wireless access to the internet.
    any advice, thank you

You can use an AirPort 802.11n card so long as it is the right model.

  • T500: Keyboard service parts list, which manufacturer?

    Dear Community,
The keyboard service parts list for the T500, located at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-71050, has a FRU column for each manufacturer, but doesn't specify which column belongs to which manufacturer (= manufacturer names are missing from the column headers)...
Also, that page features 2 lists, without specifiying what the difference is.
Does anybody know which is which, or could Lenovo staff fix that page, please?
    Thanks,

I just started having this issue in Windows 7 SP1 on a brand new ThinkPad W520 with a Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (170 W).
If I have a keyboard plugged into the dock, and I undock and re-dock, the keyboard will no longer accept keystrokes.
It appears in the Device Manager as working correctly, but just ignores me.
Unplugging it from the USB port and plugging it into another USB port, either on the dock or on the laptop itself, has no effect.
Undocking and re-docking again has no effect.
The only way to get keystrokes back from any affected keyboard is to restart the machine, which is incredibly inconvenient!
I have no trouble with any of the other hardware plugged into the dock, including a mouse and an external sound card.
I have tried now with two totally different keyboards so I know the problem's not related to drivers for the keyboards themselves.
I believe it actually doesn't work for ANY keyboard other than the laptop itself once you've undocked and redocked, even if it wasn't plugged in at all before the undocking/redocking, as long as *some* keyboard was.  (I'm not in a position to verify that right at the moment but I think that's the case.)
Interestingly enough, using the ThinkPad USB Keyboard With TrackPoint (SK-8855), while the keys do nothing, the trackpoint mouse in it still works.  Bizarre!
I've updated the BIOS, the Intel chipset driver, and the UltraNav driver, and these have had no impact at all.  I don't know what more to do, and this is a major, major productivity drain for me.
