2100 Series maximum of 256 clients?

Really the title has it all..
I don't find any documentation anywhere that indicates that there is any maximum client count usable using a 2100 series access point controller... We had two lightweight access points connected, and added a third, but this number was not affected.
Monitoring the system using the web interface the client count goes to 256 and connected clients goes to 256, and then no further clients are accepted...
Please tell me how I can overcome this apparent limit?

Hi Jim,
I know that this is not the "exact" reference that you were looking for, but this number is not spelled out in any 2100 Series documentation. This was the closest reference that I could find after searching the other day and today;
Q. Are the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Modules functionally similar to any other Cisco wireless LAN controllers?
A. All Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers support the same software functionality. The differences between the models are related to interfaces and capacity. From an overall (hardware and software) perspective, the WLCM is most similar to the Cisco 2106 Wireless LAN Controller. The primary differences are:
An integrated services router with a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Module and Cisco EtherSwitch® Module can connect 6, 8 or 12 LWAPP enabled Cisco Aironet access points without a separate switch, versus six for the Cisco 2006 router. Cisco Aironet access points can be connected to an Ethernet switch module on the integrated services router (e.g., 4, 9, 16, 24, and 48-port modules with Power over Ethernet [PoE]).
Q. How many simultaneous wireless clients can be supported by the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Modules?
A. 256.

  • [WORKAROUNDED] Maximum number of clients reached

    Hello,
I have got some problems with X11. From time to time when I try to run some app I get following error:
"QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
Maximum number of clients reachedkate: cannot connect to X server :0.0"
This particular error concerns trying to run "kate" application.
When I try to check out how many applications there are running so far I get:
    > xlsclients
Maximum number of clients reachedxlsclients:  unable to open display ":0.0"
Anyone knows that problem and can tell what is wrong? How to fix it?
The only method I know that is working for this problem is to restart X11, but it is not a solution for me.
I noticed that this problem occurs especially often when I run "chromium" web browser.

I temporarily workarounded the problem by changing MAXCLIENTS variable in xorg-server sources from 256 to 512. So far so good.

  • WLC 2100 Series Rack Mount Option

I am having a tough time finding the rackmount kit for the 2100 series Wireless Lan Controllers. Will the ASA5505-RACK-MNT= work?

    Hi David,
    Yes, this is the correct part to use :) I am guessing the ASA 5505 and WLC 2100 must use the same chassis;

  • Canon 2100 Series printing in reverse order

I have a Canon 2100 series -- an MG 2120.  When I print things out, they come out in the tray in reverse order -- a six page document will thus have p. 6 on top when I take the stack out.  I cannot find a setting on my computer to make things print out in reverse order, so that page one will be on top and I won't have to manually put multipage documents in order.  Help?

    Hi oldwest,
To change the order in which pages are printed, please follow the steps located at the link below:

  • Maximum number of clients reached

    Hi all,
I have Arch running on my laptop since a year, recently i started to have a very annoying problem, with few just few X client sometimes i can't open any X program, for example mousepad from the terminal will show:
    Maximum number of clients reached
    (mousepad:21270): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0
    while
    xlsclients | wc -l
shows 24 clients? the maximum should be 255!
The only one thing that might be related which i did recently was to install compiz and enabling desktop effects, but i removed them completely including the user configuration files that are left, after that i started to see the problem occasionally.
    Any hint?

    Any updates on this?
After a recent update, when I tried to launch chromium (or google-chrome) via terminal I got a parse error for the file "/usr/share/hwdata/pci.ids"
After I re-installed some related programs
    pacman -S usbutils pciutils hwids
I was able to run chromium again, but now I get this max clients error.
Here is the output of xlsclients
    $ xlsclients
Maximum number of clients reachedxlsclients: unable to open display ":0.0"
How can I go about debugging this?
EDIT: The bug is with VLC. When VLC is closed, everything works as expected.

  • Maximum number of clients per Extreme?

Forgetting about bandwidth usage, what is the maximum number of clients (Macbook, iPad/iPhone,) that connect to an AirPort Extreme at the same time?

I think you may be asking about WDS, which would kill the performance of the network.
If you need to connect 120 wireless devices (you don't tell us if computers will connect using wireless or ethernet), the only practical setup would be to connect each of the 3 AirPort Extremes together using ethernet cabling.
I would urge you to work with an IT professional to make sure that the system will do what you want. The AirPort Extreme is designed for home use. It can work in a situation such as yours, but your IT pro will have other suggestions. You would do well to listen to him.

  • WLC 2100 series Guest LAN not found

    Hi there

    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00808ed026.shtml
because my Cisco WLC 2112 version 7.0.240.0 does not have the option for Guest LAN. Is Guest LAN supported for WLC 2100 series? Any workarounds or suggestions?

    Diego,
Wired guest access is not supported on WLC2106.

  • Maximum number of client that possible to running OSD at the same time?

How maximum number of client that possible to perform OS deployment from SCCM 2012 R2 at the same time?
    Regards, Bar Waelah

It depends on your infrastructure and design.
My DP servers got mirrored mechanical disks and a Gbit nic. We like to run about 10 clients every 2 hours from them. That is enough time to apply our custom image, apply any extra appps and patches.
Since we got one of those servers on about 100 locations it means that in the best case I can deploy about 1000 systems every two hours.
That's my technical limit BUT that's not the real limit.
More important is how many users with newly installed systems can your organization handle. There will always be some machines that fails and needs to be fixed (how many non productive users can you have at the same time?). Some users will call hellpdesk
regardless of instructions, onscreen information, user training and so on. How many calls can your helpdesk handle? There will be requests for extra apps, changed screen resolution, left handed mice settings and so on, maybe printer configs? Same thing here
    - how many of these cases can your support handle?
Those are the "soft" limiting factors and so far (been doing this for about 15 years now) the "soft" limits have always been lower than the technical limit

  • How to change maximum number of client of wifi connection in cmd mode

I have a problem with my pc, that shows maximum number of client that can be connected via wifi is 4.So I want to change that. Please help...

    Hi,
It would make more sense that most routers are limited by their hardware, and will experience performance
degradation as number of devices increase. The maximum number of wireless users you can connect through your
WiFi router differs from brand to brand.
Thus I would like to suggest you contact your router's support for help.

  • Client certificate on 2100 Series

Have installed / configured WLAN 2106, connected first AP (1100), all is well. I can get into the management console and see that the AP is up, etc. However, when I pull out a laptop and try to connect to the network, I am told that the laptop needs a certificate. I cannot find anywhere in the documentation that addresses this at all. To be honest, I expected a section entitled "Connecting to the WLAN for the first time" or something along those lines, but nothing, so I'm not even sure if I'm missing something incredibly basic and stupid, or something beyond my ability (which may be one and the same). Thanks for any assistance...

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I *may* have an answer to *some* of this, at this point. The difficulty I am having is in allowing wireless clients to connect to the AP. I'm doing fine in terms of getting to the GUI and navigating the various menus there. It's the actual clients for whom I'm trying to provide wireless access that cannot connect. At the stage where you might typically be told that you need a WEP key to connect (for example), I was instead being told that I needed a certificate.
The documentation referred me to the Security > IPSec > Certificates page; however, I don't have an IPSec item on my Security page in the GUI. In fact, the string "IPSec" is not to be found on any page, anywhere, in the GUI.
I found settings in the WLAN page, instead, where I was able to disable the certificate requirement. Am now working on WEP and MAC filtering (I support just a few laptops).
    Thanks...

  • UCS C series maximum hard drive size

Looking for info on the maximum hard drive size support on teh UCS C series.  I have a C200M2 that I added a 4TB drive, I have updated the server to the latest firmware and BIOS however the server shows the drive size is 2TB.

Hi!  and welcome to the community mate!
Here is the table that shows the supported disk's PID for the C200 server:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/c200m2_sff_specsheet.pdf
If you successfully installed ONE HDD of 4GB and made it work, you were lucky cause I don't see any disk with that size, I have not even seen a disk of that size for UCS yet.
I am wondering if perhaps you installed 4 disks of 1TB and configured them in RAID 1 which would explain the reason for the size to go down to half of the capacity of the array as RAID 1 is a mirror.
Let me know if I misunderstood you.

  • OEAP 600 Series - Maximum User Count

    Supported User Count
Only fifteen users are allowed to connect on the WLAN Controller  WLANs provided on the 600 series at any one time. A sixteenth user  cannot authenticate until one of the first clients de-authenticates or a  timeout occurred on the controller.
Note: This number is cumulative across the controller WLANs on the 600 series.
For example, if two controller WLANs are configured and there are  fifteen users on one of the WLANs, no users will be able to join the  other WLAN on the 600 series at that time. This limit does not apply to  the local private WLANs that the end user configures on the 600 series  designed for personal use and clients connected on these private WLANs  or on the wired ports do not affect these limits.
This is from the Configuration Guide for teh 600 series Office Extend AP. Is this count per AP or total per WLC? If I have 10 APs deployed to our remote users, can each AP support two simultaneous users? Would I need to use separate WLANs for each OEAP?

  • WLC 4400 series OID for Current Clients

Can someone advise what is the OID for the number of current clients for the WLC 4400 series appliance.
    Thanks.

Based on the results of your walk, I would say it's reports all of the instances on that particular controller...and I say this because only one instance is reported. I would think that if you have multiple WLANS on that WLC, you would get multiple instances reported back, so, (maybe, like you) I'm confused by the description in the MIB object where it states:
"No of Mobile Stations currently associated with the WLAN."
which to me looks like "the WLAN" is used in the singular.
At this point, I think the best thing to do would be to open a TAC case with all of this info, and we can get with our developers for confirmation.
Hope this has been somewhat helpful, and please rate these posts.

  • WLAN 2100 series - Webauthentication Certificate

    Hi,
would anybody be able to adivse how to chance the webauthentication certificte on WLAN 2100 controller. My users are complaining that they need to accept the security certificate before proceeding to the actual authentication?
    thanks
    Patrick

This is expected behaviour right.. when ever you visit any HTTPs site  this happens.. so the client will download the cert and proceed  further..
Disable HTTPs on the WLC and see if you face this issue.. i am pretty sure that will resolve..
However here is the step by step procedure to load the new WEBAUTH cert on to the WLC..
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00806e367a.shtml
However disabling the HTTPs will be just a wor around..
lemme know if this answered your question..
