2106f Error Code after Internet Recovery Attempt

Anyone ever get a 2106f Error Code after Internet Recovery Attempt? What next?
Background: Macbook Pro (late 2011) shows startup progress bar, goes ~ 1/10th of distance, freezes, then goes black after ~2min. Did this:
1. Clean startup attempt (shift)
2. Zapped PRAM (option command P R)
3. Reset SMC, Startup
4. Attempted Internet Recovery process (Cmd R) over ethernet connection, but after several hours, got the -2106F error.
MacBook Pro 2.2 i7 Late 2011

How long were you able to watch this movie before it crashed?
Now is it everytime you boot up, you get the BSOD  0xc0000001 ?
Can you start up in SAFE MODE?

  • Error code 0xc0000001 after system recovery attempt--PLEASE HELP--

    HI,
         I have a Toshiba Satellite C855-S5194  Part number: PSCBLU-066003.
To give you the whole story it begins with my screen going blank while watching Netflix while attatched to a HD tv thru the HDMI.  Then the screen went blu and and error code came up. Error code 0xc0000001 and it stated you needed to use recovery tools on your instrallation media.
First I tried using the recovery steps by accessing it in preboot.  That did not work.
So I then ordered a 16GB USB recovery flsh drive. I followed the instructions and I was in the recovery mode off the USB.  During the process the screen stated the laptop will restart a bunch of times during the process, which it did.  Then after it restarted the last time, the screen went blue with an error code 0xc0000001 again.  What can I do?  Does this mean my hard drive is corrupt?  Any insight would be appreciated.
Also, one last thing.  If I try to straight up boot from the USB flash drive it seems to boot but then after the Toshiba welcom logo the screen goes blank and stays that way.

  • Error Code re: Making Recovery Disks

Just purchased an L655-S5075 laptop. I am attempting to make recovery disks, but cannot get beyond disk 2 without receiving following error: D:\ZZImages\ZZImages\Preinst10.SWM, error code 020150-20-00000000.  I am using Memorex DVD-R, 4.7 Gb disks.  See others with similar issues, but they were successful once the switch was made to a DVD-R disk.  What disk format should I use?  Does manufacturer make a difference?  Why doesn't Toshiba document the recommended disk standard to use to make recovery disks, thus saving consumers countless hours of frustration?  I appreciate anyone's assistance.

    Hi RAPearson
Question, will this mess up my recovery disk creation?  If I make the last two disks, will the first two be compatable?
No, it'll not conflict as only factory settings, programs and windows os are burned.
It does not look like there is a way to restart the recovery disk creation process, or is there?
Here too, its a No. It'll start from where you left. Use good quality DVDs.
    Hope this resolves the concern,

  • I receive an error code 16 when I attempt to redact

On a regular basis I combine multiple pdf's and then redact as needed. Recently after combining the pdf's when I attempt to redact I get an error code 16. Then the items I tried to redact are gone (but not the black box I have my redaction setting at), they are just missing. Is there an issue with my adobe install or are my files being corrupted when combined?

    Hi mmoebius,
It may be a corrupt file. Please try printing it to the PDF printer and then redacting the new version.

  • My mac is not able to boot after internet recovery

Hi I Own an i mac27 inch which i bought in year 2011. Recently it showed some disc errors and got crashed with a blue screen. I was not able to boot it in a safe mode and had to remove my data via a thunderbolt cable. After removing the data i formatted the hard drive with mac format thinking that would remove the bad sectors. But I realized it wont even start up again in a recovery mode. So i tried to boot it via a bootable USB drive. Now When i press Command+R i get only two options (1. Bootable OSX Drive, 2.Internet connection) None of the options are of any help. Any suggestions??

    Hello nachi777,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post it looks like you are trying to reformat your hard drive, but are unable to boot into recovery.  Since you have a newer iMac, you should be able to boot to internet recovery.  Booting to internet recovery occurs automatically if your startup drive has an issue.  If you are seeing boot drive options when starting up, then you may just be holding down the option key on the keyboard.  Both options you do see to boot from, should be able to help in reformatting your hard drive.

  • Error code -51 when I attempt to transfer files from Mac to PC over network

I just upgraded to Mavericks - I saw some threads that people are having the same problem. When I attempt to transfer files from my Windows 7 PC to my Mac laptop, it freezes, then I get an error code -51. No, it's not firewall, and no it's not sharing permissions in the PC. Help!!

Same here as well. MacBook Pro 13" laptop with OSX 10.9. Can transfer small files (e.g. Mp3s, MS Word Docs, PDFs etc) on the network to a server running Windows 2008 R2 server eg MP3 files....but transfering larger files eg TV shows or films produces a failure after about 1.5MB and I get the following error message:
"...The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -51)...."
I previously had a MacBook Air laptop with OSX 10.8 and did not have this problem at all. Also currently have a Mac Mini with OX 10.6 and that machice continues to play just fine with the same server.
So the issue must most likely be a problem specific to OSX 10.9...

  • Massive battery life drop after Internet Recovery OS re-install

    Hey,
A couple months ago, I made the brilliant decision to try to install Windows 7 with Boot Camp at 3am on a weekend after several days of no sleep (unfortunately, this is one of the least-poor poor decisions I've made recently, but I suppose that's for another forum). Long story short, Og turn on MacBook, Og open Disk Utility, Og click-click, SSD go bye-bye—formatted, every last bit of it (haha, me make pun-pun!). Luckily, ML ships virtually tard-proofed, so there's little I can do besides showering with Bernie (this pun courtesy of the 'lil sis; I'm innocent) to make him breathe his last. This little bit of Apple genius is irrefutable proof of God—praised be his noodly appendage. But ever since Internet Recovery blessed me with Bernie II (R'amen), I've noticed during countless nights lying with him in bed that his stamina has decreased significantly, versus his pre-IR days. I can't give you firm numbers of his endurance before the operation, but now, after even the least vigourous play, he's drained beyond further exertion after no more than 2-2.5 hours. I've tried various tweaks to increase battery life—making sure his mail parts are only shooting off when I work them manually, the same for receiving messages as well, and I've been monitoring his GPU usage; thanks to ML he's much more conscientious about being discrete, and I rarely have to limit him to using his integrated components. (Note: I'm using writing this as an excuse to start an essay, and its foundation really needs to get laid ASAP, so unfortunately the allusions/euphemisms stop here.) Again, I can't give precise numbers about its original battery life, but I was blown away by it, likely averaging at or in excess of the advertised 7-hours. I'm a geek and spent my childhood with eyes never further than a couple of inches from my CRT (and have the vision to prove it), but I really have no f'ing clue what would be causing this. I never doubted that the battery life decreased (and dramatically so), but now that I've started booting up into Windows regularly, any trace of doubt has vanished. Using Windows 8 set on Maximum Performance (and, as I'm sure most of you are aware, Windows only uses the discrete GPU, even when doing nothing graphically-intensive), the battery life is still significantly better than using ML. I've searched and searched and searched and can't find a single reference to this issue online. I'd appreciate any help you can offer. Just in case it's of any assistance, I'll put some might-be-relevant-maybe info below, including things I've thought of that could be the source/contributing to the problem (again, I really have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to true geek know-how):
    - It's a rMBP 15" w/16GB RAM
    - When I formatted the HD, I wiped out everything. Yes, obviously there was enough on there for the laptop to launch into Internet Recovery, but I'm thinking that was all that was left. When I've been trying to think of why there's nobody online with this issue, something that's popped into my head is that anyone who knows what Disk Utility does is probably savvy enough (when not sleep-deprived) to not use it to format their HD, or at least to heed to the plenty of "Don't click yes, tardums" warnings that I'm sure popped up as I zoomed by them. And I can't think of many other ways for grandma-level Mac users to wipe their HD, so the lack of online info would make sense.
    - This was a couple months back, and I can't remember precisely the OS version when all this went down. I'm certain it was ML since I think my rMBP shipped with 10.8.0 (if not 10.8.1, if any did), but it could have been anything between 10.8.0 and 10.8.2. I'm pretty sure it wasn't 10.8.0 since I remember updating to 10.8.1 very soon after purchasing the laptop over the summer, but again, not certain.
Alright, that's it. I'm sure this post doesn't meet forum standards for plethora of reasons, but I'm a poor little private liberal arts university student who is desolate now that his $3,000 laptop isn't getting top-notch battery life, so mods, please dig deep in your hearts and don't delete. Thanks, yous da best.
    -Zack

There were a number of posts from folks with various models about a downgrade in battery life after an upgrade to Mountain Lion - so you aren't alone. However, since you're still under warranty, I would take the machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them diagnose the problem. Could be that your battery just isn't up to par (and I'm assuming that you've all updates installed?)...
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Unable to access data/storage space of failed primary partition after internet recovery

    Hello,
So just a bit of quick background info to the issue:  I experienced my first major failure with my iMac a few weeks ago (early Feb) where the main partition on my 3TB Fusion drive developed a corruption of some sort. I went through all the disk verification/repair procedures I could find, however nothing worked and I ended up with a grey screen on bootup that had a round logo with a slash through it. I tried a reinstall of OS X Yosemite from the recovery partition, however this failed part-way through, and I was forced to perform an internet recovery instead.
This worked, and I now have my iMAC stable again, however the recovery process created a new primary partition in addition to the old primary partition. This wasn't a major issue for me as I planned to recover some files from the failed partition that my backups had missed. Unfortunately since then, that old partition has disappeared and I can't get it back. I figure I have lost those files, but what is really annoying is the space that old partition took up has not freed up. My 3TB fusion drive is only letting me use 120GB of the space (the size of the new primary partition).
So I guess I have two questions:
1 - Is there a way to find and get the old partition back mounting again? The drives that list with a 'diskutil list; echo; diskutil cs list' command are attached, but do not appear to contain the old partition that I am after (I've tried manually mounting them via the terminal to check).
2 - If recovering that old partition is not possible, how do I go about freeing up the space it occupied?
    System details:
    OS X Yosemite v10.10.2
    Mac (27-inch, Late 2012)
Processor: 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Any assistance on this one would be greatly appreciated - I can't restore all my files from backups as I am running low on HDD space.
    Cheers,
    Nick

    Hi Eric,
See attached screen shot - is that what you are after?
As you can see I don't have access to the rest of the 3TB fusion drive. I'm thinking I may have to do a clean OS install so I have prepared a Yosemite USB install key ready to go.
Unless you guys can suggest something that is.
Thanks in advance for your help,

  • Error Code After Running Apple Hardware Test

I ran apple hardware test (I'm having problems where my computer freezes for like 10 seconds with the mouse being movable... but it happens very frequently. like once a minute. it's SOOO ANNOYING)
this is the error i got after running apple hardware test:
(it came out as a Mass Storage error... which is Hard Disk i guess)
    **ERROR*CODE***ERROR*CODE**
    2STF/8/3: S-ATA Bus 0-Master
    **ERROR*CODE***ERROR*CODE**
Does anyone know what I can do to fix it. Apple Hardware Test only allows me to find the error and then restart or shut down... which is useless cause what is the error code supposed to mean. I've only got Apple 1 yr repair support left... so I cant call up Apple or anything. Does anyone know anything about this and what I could do to fix it!?
    I know about this: http://www.apple.com/support/imac/repairextensionprogram/
I might go to the apple store, but I dont wanna make a trip out there for nothing.
Does anyone know what I can do or should I just take it to the apple store.

Actually, i just spent like 1 hr working with disk utility using the os x install disk and i think it finally worked. im so happy for myself! yay... i wouldnt accept no for an answer. Disk utility kept saying "oh first aid failed because it didnt exit right" or something... total garbage response... i kept pressing verify disk and then repair disk and then i did the verify permissions and repair permissions too... didnt really know what i was doing with the permissions... but it finally worked so thats all that mattered! yay... its back to normal!!

  • Error Codes after Apple Hardware Test...

After someone here told me I've been experiencing kernel panics, I did some digging on the x lab site and re-ran the Apple hardware test in loop mode. after 17 runs, it returned the error:
    4MOT/2/40000005:Right Side
I can't seem to find a list of error codes anywhere. My MBP has two 1GB RAM chips, both were pre-installed when I got the machine from Apple. I haven't tried switching them to see if the same error is returned on testing or with ONLY one or the other installed to see if this is truly a RAM issue. I thought I'd post to the forum for ideas first...

I'm afraid I have no idea. If you have AppleCare, I would ask them about the error code. You do have a different error code (/2/ not /1/ and different number after the second slash) than the link, so perhaps it is not a fan motor that is your problem, though I'm hard-pressed to think of what other motors the MBP has (I don't think the hard drive is on the right side, for one.) Alternatively I can imagine, since you said it took you 17 tests to get the result, that this is an intermitent problem--for all I know, just a slightly loose/poorly soldered wire--and so istat hasn't detected the problem yet.
I think AppleCare or a Mac Genius is your best bet, if you have the one or can get to the other. In particular, unfortunately, Apple does not seem to publish the hardware error codes; it only makes them available to techs.
    Good luck!

    Hello
I have made backup of my files through HP Recovery and Backup manager, due to some problems i had with my HP PC. I have reinstalled the PC, and now i want to recover my backup. But when i run the HP Recovery and backup manager through the restore.exe file in the backup folder, on my USB-device, I get an error which says Error Code = 0xEFFFF01, and I can't get any futher in the recovery process. I have tried to find an answer to the problem, without luck, which made my way to this forum. I Hope you kan give me some answers about why i can't recover my files.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi @Jørge
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see that you are having some problems getting your backed up files from your USB. I also did some research into that error code and didn't find anything either. Let me start by getting your product number so I know what we are working with. Have you tried all the USB ports? You mentioned that you “reinstalled the PC” by that do you mean you used recovery media to bring the computer back to defaults or did you install it from an installation CD?
