2207H Monitor Not Displaying

I downloaded the Windows 8.1 update and installed it. During the install though it restarted several times on its own and eventually when it came on the computer was running but there was no image on my screen. I ended up taking it to geek squad. They removed my graphics card (nvidia geforce 640gt) and then plugged in their monitor to my onboard graphics and you could see the display on the monitor. I took it home, plugged my monitor in the same way and it only ever says "No signal, monitor going to sleep". After messing with it, putting the graphics card back in, taking it back in, I still was not getting a display. I know the monitor is working though as I have plugged it into my laptop and it displays immediately without issue. I also know that the onbaord graphics for my pc are working because I went and bought the cheapest monitor Walmart had and plugged it in and it's working fine. I tested it with the nvidia card and it gave me the same no signal issue as the other, but on the onboard graphics it works.
How is it my hp monitor isn't working on my pc but is working on my laptop, especially since my pc is also working properly and displaying on another monitor? Any ideas?
Also, since getting the second monitor that will display I checked my drivers for updates, I ran the Maintenance, I scanned it with a malware remover and with norton, I updated all my apps in the store that had updates available, and I re-downloaded the Windows 8.1 update and it installed properly this time.
The pc is a pavillion p7-1410 (i3 intel core) and the monitor is a 2207h 22in flat screen.

Hello @melmiller,
I understand that your HP w2207h 22 inch LCD Monitor worked until you installed the Windows 8.1 update and now will not display on your HP Pavilion p7-1410 Desktop PC yet it displays on your laptop. I suspect that you are looking at a drivers issue. I am providing you with some things you can try below to fix this:
***Be sure to stop the steps as soon as you have the problem fixed!
1. Check the cables running from your computer to the monitor and make sure they are properly secured.
2. See if you can boot into Safe Mode. If you are unsure of how to do this you can use the HP Support document: Windows 8 Safe Mode.
***If you are able to get into Safe Mode uninstall and deleted the graphics drivers and go and download and install GeForce 340.52 Driver for your graphics card.
3. Rollback the Windows 8.1 update and ensure that your graphics drivers are updated before you run the Windows 8.1 update again.
Please re-post if you require additional support. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Activity Monitor not displaying processes or anything...

    Hey guys,
My Activity Monitor (10.5.1) is not displaying ANY processes, in any of the tabs (system, CPU, etc.). I don't know why- I have a 2.16Ghz 24" iMac (previous iteration).
I did just add a 2gb stick of RAM (booted fine- everything BAR this monitor app is running perfectly). It has 3gb RAM total (previously had 2x1GB sticks). OSX System Profile displays it as 3GB and reads it properly.
Does anyone know why this is playing up, or what I can do? I have AppleCare so I'll call them tomorrow, but thought I'd see if anybody else incurred this problem.
    Thanks!
    Kendal.

  • Monitor not displaying

I have a HP Pavilion Media Center m8530f Desktop PC
And my monitor was not displaying anything when I would turn it on so I opened up my PC and cleaned my CMOS then it actually displayed but it froze than it beeped like this *beep, beep, beep* one after another I turned it on one after another and it was displaying but it would either freeze or the monitor would go to sleep please help me I don't know what to do

    Hey KidKo0l,
I'm sorry you're having this issue with your monitor. I want to try to narrow the issue down a little further to either the monitor or the computer itself. Would you happen to have another monitor you could connect to your computer? You could also try attaching this monitor to another computer, even a laptop. Use the same cable if possible to rule out the cable as an issue too. If you have another cable you can try, use the second cable with the same monitor and computer as you experienced the issue with originally. Let me know what you find out from those tests

  • HDMI output to monitor not displaying all colors

I am trying to use a second monitor on my Satellite S55t-b5152 and am able to get 1920x1080 output from the HDMI port through an adapter to either VGA or DVI into my external monitor, but with either adapter the colors look washed-out and not all the colors that are displayed on the internal monitor show up on the external monitor.  For example the position indicator in scroll bar on some apps shows up on the internal monitor, but disappears when I drag that window onto the external monitor.  I've tried multiple monitors and they all have the same symptom. I've investigated this some on external forums and it seems to be that the HDMI output under some conditions assumes that it is connected to a TV instead of a monitor and it limits the output color range.  On some graphics drivers it is possible to override that assumption and get the full range output from the HDMI port.  I haven't found a way to do that for the graphics driver on the S55t-b5152. Has anyone figured this out?

through an adapter to either VGA or DVI...
Just want to comment that I'm not at all surprised that an adapter does not produce true colors. I'm sometimes amazed they work at all.
Yours is HDMI 2.0 which complicates things still further.

  • External Monitor not displaying correct resolution.

I just hooked up my Viewsonic 19" widescreen display (1440x900) to my MacBook Pro. Ive closed the lid of my laptop and set the resolution to 1440x900 (60hz) in System Preferences yet the external display is still fuzzy. I looked in the monitors menus and it says its currently displaying 1152x864!!!!
When i tried mirror mode it looks like it thinks the external monitor is a different size but both screens have the same native resolution.
I've tried a bunch of different resolutions but none of them seem to use my monitors native resolution. I'm using the included DVI to VGA adaptor into the monitor. The monitor works fine if I plug it into my old Dell XP Laptop or XP desktop.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Same "fuzzy" picture on external LCD attached to MacBook Pro here (2GHz, 2GB RAM, 10.4.11). Been using a mediocre NEC LCD72vx for along time and figured that was the reason, but I tried a stellar ViewSonic VG191b that I use with my Windows desktop for layout and found the same slightly fuzzy picture, despite also noting that the resolution setting was the native one. Note, I use the external display rotated 90, but I saw no change at 0 rotation. Straight DVI on both.
Half of the fun of having DVI out is its usefulness for layout in publishing. Powerful MBP, poor external display quality. I think some sort of fix is indicated here.

  • External Monitor not Displaying

My notebook display is broken. I've had an external monitor hooked up for some time now. I accidentally hit something and the external monitor will no longer display. It's an HPG60-519WM. Is there a hot key that can turn it back on?
And another problem - my son hit something and turned the screen tint pink. How do I fix that?
    Thanks

    for the 1st issue:

which screen?? laptop or external or???

  • Preview monitor not displaying properly

i just did a clean install of leopard, then did a clean install of FCS2, and then ran all the updates. a couple days later i try to run color (which worked on this machine when i had tiger)and the preview window is very funky and not usable. i have attached a screenshot. i tried restarting, tried other clips, tried other formats- but nothing seems to get the preview to actually display the video properly.
color did work on this exact setup before i upgraded the OS. I bought anew harddrive and installed everything from scratch. i have the ati x1900 as the main card with pcie lane width set to 16 as well as an ati hd 2600xt with the lane width set to 1x. i have a mac pro with 8 gigs of ram, 8 core x 3.0ghz.
working with prorez footage. no special hardware add ons at all. sent to color command in fcp kept causing a crash as soon as i tried to playback in color (and preview monitor still didn't work).
here is a link to a screeshot of what the monitor previews.

please help- i can't use color anymore.

Searching the forum can reveal your answers, if you use the search function.
However, a color profiler does nothing to help you with regard to consistent color when working with video. Again, you need to use a video input/output device (I sound like a blasted broken record with this) with a video display device capable of a daily setup, like a projector or a video crt or flat panel. Using computer monitors with Color is worthless.

  • Broadcast monitor not displaying picture with Blackmagic Extreme

I'm using FCP X 10.0.5 and the latest driver for my Blackmagic Extreme card.  I've been able to view my video on my broadcast monitor before, but lately it's just not showing any picture and I can't think of what's changed in my setup.
I've tried changing the picture settings in the Blackmagic preferences (in System Preferences) and restarting FCP X, but still can't get a picture to display on the screen.
It works with Adobe AE and Premiere Pro, so it's not that there's no signal going to the display.  Just seems that FCP won't send the picture over.
Any suggestions as to what I can do to get picture to show up?
    Thanks.

I can't remember right now, I am not at home, but I remember a pref setting for video out to be set to dv with the view all option. refresh the devices before choosing view all.

  • External monitor not displaying full 1920x1080 (black bars around desktop), Pavilion g6

I have a Pavilion g6 notebook running Windows 8.1. I have an external Acer S232HL display hooked up via an HDMI cable. The resolution is set to 1920x1080 in Windows, and I'm only outputting to the external monitor.
Windows thinks the resolution is set to 1920x1080, but for some reason on the monitor it is scaled to something like 1734x980 with black borders (unused pixels) all around.
All drivers and OS are up to date. Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7640G via an AMD A8-4500M APU.
Somebody posted what looks to be the same problem for this AMD chipset, though for a different manufacturer:
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/G505S-doesn-t-full-screen-my-External-Monitor...

    (Workaround)
Since I don't expect to find a fix for this, I've resigned myself to setting the resultion to 1776x1000 and setting the monitor in a 1-for-1 pixel mode (called "Aspect" in the options). I still end up with the borders, but the graphics are nice and sharp because it isn't trying to scale 1920x1080 into a smaller resolution.

  • External monitor not displaying full quality

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro 15.4" Retina. I hooked it up to my Acer External Monitor via the HDMI out on the Macbook. My display settings are set to 1080p, however the display seems very blury and pixelated. I used to have a Late 2007 Macbook that I hooked up via mini display to HDMI and that displayed in perfect, crisp 1080p HD. Hopefully someone can help me figure out how to clear things up.

Have you had any luck fixing this issue Marcello? I had the same problem and found that the following fix worked for me somewhat:

  • Monitor not displaying project

I have been having a problem with my Final Cut Pro System. I have a dvcam deck (Sony WV-DR7) connected to my G4 via firewire. I then have a 13" JVC BM-1300su video monitor connected to the deck. When I play a tape in the deck I get picture and sound fine. When I capture into Final Cut Pro I get picture and sound on the JVC monitor and Final Cut captures the sound and video fine. However, when I place the footage into my time line and play it back I only see and hear it though Final Cut on my computer monitor. Shouldn't it also playback through the JVC at the same time. Could anybody tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance for the help.

Any attempt to use xrandr (for example to set the correct resolution) results in my entire screen turning into a mess of pixels and I have to restart X to get things back to normal.
I don't have an xorg.conf file at the moment.

I think I have narrowed down the cause to Cairocompmgr, when I turn that off I can switch between my monitors and operate at the correct resolutions.
I don't have any 10-monitor.conf at the moment and even simple xrandr commands like xrandr --output LVDS --auto --VGA-0 --right-of LVDS were making things go crazy. I haven't tried doing dual head yet without cairocompmgr, mind.
Edit: Confirming that with cairocompmgr disabled, everything works as expected.
