220MB of Time and Location in Cellular Data ?

Since upgrading to an iPhone 5s from a 5 (although still using iOS7) I noticed my data plan use accelerated and couldn't account for it with changed use spending less time on WiFi etc. I turned off background downloading of app updates and a couple of the other battery saving tips I have seen posted.
So under System Services I see by far the biggest hog is this 220MB - is this something core to the OS that I can disable or is it being "used" by another application which doesn't show such high use in its own totals. The largest next one is Google at 9MB.
Is there anything finer granularity than just turning off Location Services ? Any suggestions to find out what keeps checking the time or location ?

I am wondering the same thing. This single category has used 25% of my cellular data for the current billing cycle with my cellular provider.

Exact same question as ankit1986, specifically with the photos while on cellular-only, and as simple as it sounds, I tried the hard reboot Ingo2711 suggested. Still experiencing the same error with the native apps reverting to on. It's killing our shared data-plan (2GB).

UPDATE: Ok, I just got back from the Apple store and I've performed a full restore. The good news is that the restore did allow cellular data to work again, restoring as new and restoring an iCloud backup both worked fine. I also tried everything Apple suggests on the http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3780 an only restoring had any effect. Even though that worked for me, I went Ahead and went to the Apple store because this problem had already occurred with me, but only intermittently (requiring frequent resets); the 6.1 update seemed to just make it more 'permanent' so to speak. after the tech tested it with a known-good SIM compared to a new iphone 5, he observed the same stalled cellular data, so my iPhone was swapped out. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to use iMessage only over WiFi, and not use cellular data?

When I go to Settings -> Cellular, there is no toggle for messages. Is there some way I could selectively disable cellular data usage for messages? That is, I want messages to be sent with SMS instead of data even if cellular data is available, but not if WiFi is available. If WiFi is available, then I would want the message to use the WiFi.
My situation is that I will be traveling internationally and will have a plan that allows unlimited texting but limited data. I don't want to have to toggle iMessage on and off every time I connect to WiFi to prevent data use with messages!

The only option you have is to turn off cellular data completely. You are correct, there is no setting for cellular data for messages. If you toggle iMessage off/on multiple times, you will end up with problems, since others will not know if you have iMessage off/on, and will continue to try to send iMessages to you. Also, you may find you will have problems with iMessage activating again after turning it off. iMessages do not use very much data, but if you are using data for other reasons, that could use up the limited pool of data you mentioned

Hi. Will I have additional charges from the cellular company if I switch ON the Location Services and Cellular Data. My SIM, my iPhone is prepaid, I'm not on a plan of any kind. My load credit seems to be consumed too fast and I was only doing very few local SMS messages. I only use wifi for the internet when I'm using the iPhone's Safari or the App Store or YouTube. My iPhone is the 3G (I hope to buy version 5 this October hopefully if it's has significant updates). Thank you in advance. If you switch on cellular data and you use safari, YouTube..etc on the cellular network....Yes your are using data. Hence you are being charged for it. Some apps use location services . If that is so then yes it needs to use cell data to track you. Push notifications as well. Not sure on the 3G depends on iOS version ... Been awile since I've used it..but I know on my iPhone 4 you can turn on and off location services for particular apps.

Documents and sync burning cellular data

Hi guys
Got my 5S yesterday, and it burned through 500meg of cellular data, of which 334meg went to "documents and sync" under "system services" but i do not allow the damned *** thing to sync over cellular cause ill get screwed by my carrier... Also there is no documents for the thing to sync anywhere.... And it does not give me any deeper detail about what is syncing or where it is syncing to... PLEEEAASEEE HEEELP ME!!! The thing is going to bankrupt me!!

I worked out the issue affecting me. I noticed like many other people it seems that turning off my iMac stopped data being downloaded on my phone over cellular. Since it was Documents and Sync I assumed it must be an iCloud glitch, so turned off iCloud on my iMac, this also had the affect of stopping the excessive data usage on my iPhone.
To be safe I did a permissions repair at this point and a restart.
I then re signed in to iCloud on my iMac and 3 days later the issues still hasn't re-occured. My guess is that my iMac was "uploading" something to iCloud, and failing, but my iPhone was perhaps seeing new sync data and constantly truing to download these "new" file.
Hope this helps for anybody who has similar issues.

Upgrade iOS6 to Iphone4 and cant activate cellular data network

I have recently upgrade latest os to my iphone 4 & followings are problems im having now with my phone:
1. Map is not working
2. Cellular data network not working
3. Wifi is weak & cant get signal strength like previous os
Appreciate if anyone can suggest what else needs to be check to sort it out or is there any way to move back to previous OS without any data loss?

First, I hope you did the standard reset of your iPhone. If that doesn't help, then you'll have to contact AT&T. This situation sometimes happens with AT&T. Get to tech support and they can determine if whatever routing that goes on with a cellular network is working for you. BTW, call from a land line, because you'll have to shut off your iPhone and restart. I hope this helps.

I have a MacBook and cannot connect to App Store. I have no problem with the internet connection. I want to be able to buy the apps that are available for my computer. The date, time and location are all correct - all the suggestions have failed

If you don't see any messages, not have anti-malware running or the Firewall on, try installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8 (according to your profile).
Restart your Mac after the combo in installed, try the App Store.
Also... if you have an app called Little Snitch installed, that can prevent a connection to the App Store.

On iPhone 6, How do I display the date, time, and location where a photo was taken

On my previous iPhone (4S), I used the "Info' option in iPhoto to see where and when a photo was taken. When wanting to find location information of photos on your iOS device in iOS 8, the online User Guide provides some great information for how to search:
View photos and videos - iPhone
View by location. While viewing by year or by collection, tap . Photos and videos that include location information appear on a map, showing where they were taken.
While viewing a photo or video, tap to show and hide the controls. Swipe left or right to go forward or backward.
Search photos. From Albums or Photos, tap to search by date (month and year), or place (city and state). Search also keeps your Recent Searches on hand and gives you a list of suggested searches.

Time Zone for a particular date/time and location

Consider this:
You have some date stored somewhere (e.g. in a database), and it is stored in UTC. Now, you want to display that date in the local time at that particular time, e.g. with or without daylight savings depending on the time of year.
A more concrete example:
In Perth, Australia, daylight savings goes from Dec to Feb inclusive (approx).
Now, you have two dates, say 2007-01-01T12:00:00+0000 and 2007-05-01T12:00:00+0000.
You would like to display these dates as:
2007-01-01T21:00:00+0900 and 2007-05-01T20:00:00+0800 respectively.
However, given that the current timezone today (26th June) in Perth is +0800, they will be displayed as:
2007-01-01T20:00:00+0800 and 2007-05-01T20:00:00+0800 respectively.

Mine is jdk 5You are right - just tried with 1.6.0_01-b06 and all is good.
For some reason it didn't occur to me that the other version of the JVM I was using wouldn't have the daylight savings rule, which would make sense since it was released before the daylight saving legislation was introduced by the WA state government!

I updated to IOS 4 early yesterday morning (22nd), I have a 3GS.
Since then I have no internet connectivity through 3G, weather, google, email etc. It does work on wireless networks.
Apparently the early version of IOS4 was corrupt or not complete. However I cannot see how to reinstall the upgrade through itunes. If I click update, it says I'm running the latest software.
It could be to do with incorrect APN settings. Again these are not easy to change through he phone itself. I tried to change these manually but with no success.
Resetting network connections does not solve the problem.
Restore from backup and full restore did not work.
How can I reinstall IOS 4?
I am on Orange in the UK.
