23" Cinemadisplay HD won't show text based graphics.

Hi.
I have recently purchased a 23" Cinemadisplay HD that had been left on the shelf in a local electronics store (from early 2008, with the aluminum frame and stand) that I'm using on a PC running Linux. My graphics adapter is an nVidia 6800 AGP8X card. Everything works fine, but I'm a bit surprised that the display doesn't show any of the scrolling text during bootup or the text-based BIOS-screen, but wakes up when the GUI starts. (X-windows in my case). Is this how it's supposed to work?
I'm asking because I want to reinstall Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux om my computer, and the installation routines start as text based. If I can't see that on my display, then I have a problem.
Is there a way around this?

I can confirm this because I´m using my display with Boot Camp(Windows XP Home) and the display doesn´t wake up until the GUI starts(welcome screen). DOS seems to be unaware of my Cinema Display. I had to do the install process on the laptop display, so I guess you will have some difficulty when you try installing XP.

  • Q5 won't show text messages

    When I open text messages sometimes it will freeze and I am unable to see the conversation. The only fix is reopening the program several times and waiting till it returns to normal (takes about 5 minutes). It happens regularly

    Samething for me.  Bought a Q5 10 days ago, had all my contacts and messages transfer from my old Blackberberry Curve and my messaging is a nightmare.  it freezes all the time.  Chnaged the Q5 yesterday and did not help at all.  Still having a problem with my text messaging which freezes all the time (sometime for more than 2 hours).  Seems to always happen when i am receiving a text or call while texting!

  • Text messages won't show up in lock screen

    Hey guys,
    My iphone 5s sometimes won't show text messages in my lock screen, any ideas?
    And I have checked all of my notifications.
    Cheers

    Only if Apple knows about possible software issues, they would look into those. You can report those by using this link:

    But I did not see this issue mentioned for a longer time in these forums.

    Check online with the web site of the maker of your video card for an updated driver (assuming you're running Windows).

  • My phone won't show notifications on my home screen or lock screen for text messages

    My phone won't show notifications for text messages on my lock screen or my home screen, even thought both are turned on under the settings. Once I go into the messaging app, they will show up as new but not anywhere else. I get notifications for everything else except text messages.

    Messages should work with the email address that you use for your Apple ID. You have to be signed into that email address in order for any other email address that you have added to work.
    You should add your iPhone number to your Apple ID on the iPad, and then select that as the contact address at which you can be reached and all of the messages between the phone and the iPad will sync again.
    iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
    Phone number missing on iPad or iPod touch
    If your phone number isn't listed on an iPod touch or iPad, follow these steps:
    Update to the latest version of iOS.
    Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you're using on your iPhone.
    On your iPad or iPod touch, sign out of your Apple ID in the following locations:
    Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    Sign in to your Apple ID with FaceTime and iMessage.
    If your phone number still isn't listed, follow these steps:
    Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
    Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
    When activation is complete, your Apple ID and all verified email addresses should be visible in Settings > Messages > Receive At and Settings > FaceTime.
    Sign in to your Apple ID on your other iOS devices.

  • Progress Loader Text won't show up?

    I have a SWF file that is the first frame of the movie and it's only purpose is to load in another SWF and show text corresponding to the progress of download completion.  When I test the movie (Simulate Download) it just simulates without showing my text with percentage complete.  The only way I can get it to show, is if I add a button to click to make it show.  How can I get it, so that when someone opens the movie, it will start the download process, show the percentage, and then upon completion, start the UILoader movie?
    Here is my AS3 code: notice the button I had to put in at the top...which is not what I want....
    btn1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, loadFile);
    function loadFile(e:Event):void {
    CMOLoader.load(new URLRequest("CMO.swf"));
    CMOLoader.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
    CMOLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
    function progressHandler(e:ProgressEvent):void {
    prog_txt.visible=true;
    var percent:int=CMOLoader.percentLoaded;
    prog_txt.text=percent+"%";
    function completeHandler(event:Event):void {
    prog_txt.visible=false;
    CMOLoader.removeEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
    CMOLoader.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
    Also in Simulate Download, once it completes load, shouldn't the movie play with out freezing?  Because when I do it, I wait for the download process and then the SWF loads, but it's choppy....it "downloaded" the whole file, it should run seamless right?
    Long post but I appreciate any help....

    use:
    loadFile();
    function loadFile():void{
    CMOLoader.load(new URLRequest("CMO.swf"));
    CMOLoader.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
    CMOLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
    function progressHandler(e:ProgressEvent):void {
    prog_txt.visible=true;
    var percent:int=CMOLoader.percentLoaded;
    prog_txt.text=percent+"%";
    function completeHandler(event:Event):void {
    prog_txt.visible=false;
    CMOLoader.removeEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
    CMOLoader.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);

    not necessarily.  if there are things in your swf that tax your computer, then you may see a "choppy" presentation despite preloading.  in fact, the most common problem(s) causing a choppy presentation are not related to downloading.

    Don't use reserved words in JS
    var event = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("events.xml", "catalog/event", {sortOnLoad: "date", sortOrderOnLoad: "descending"});
    event is such a reserved word. If you change this to event1 then all is well.
    I hope this helps.

  • Photos won't show in Finder

    I have a late 2013 13" MacBook Pro Retina using Yosemite.
    In Finder, under pictures, my iPhoto library won't show pictures. It says there's 12GB of photos, but it won't show the photos. When I click on the iPhoto Library, it will open the iPhoto app and the photos will show, but again, it won't show pictures in Finder. I use to be able to see my photos in Finder.
    It all started when I went to System Preferences and started clicking things under the Sharing tab.
    After this, I noticed I wasn't able to see my photos in Finder. I followed another thread that said to: press control and click on iPhoto library, then click on Show Package Contents, then click on Original folder; however, when I did went through this process, I didn't have a folder that said Original, so I don't know what to do. Please Help me!!

    What Finder window? Are these images in iPhoto?
    There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    (Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
    You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
    If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
    If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
    For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
    Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
    For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
    b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Subreports won't show when put inside a tablix in the main report

    I have a main report containing 5 subreports. My ultimate goal is to have a header with an image in it to only show within 2 of the subreports. I'm trying to achieve this by using a tablix and putting all of my subreports into the tablix on the main report,
    and putting the image into the header of the tablix and using a hide/show query based on subreport name.
    The problem is that when I put the subreports into the tablix and upload it to CRM it won't display at all. If I remove the tablix the subreports will run and display perfectly. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here or an alternative if there is an easier
    way to achieve what I want?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ssizz,
    Per my understanding your are experiencing the issue with the subreport which added to the tablix not displayed after upload to the CRM, right?
    I have tested on my local environment and try to reproduce your issue but failed.
    The issue can be caused by many factors, could you please try to provided us more details information according to questions below, and we will be more effective to give an solution:
    Did the issue occurred only when your upload the main report to CRM, and Is there any error message,such as "Subreport Could Not Be shown"?
    Did you run to check all the subreports and the main report which include the tablix with the 5 subreports in both the designer and the CRM one by one? Did they all running with no error?
    Did you have add any parameters in the subreport and the main report, if did, please check if all the parameters work fine in the designer.
    You have mentioned that when you remove the tablix, the subreports will run perfectly, Is that mean you put the subreport outside the tablix and have a test then all works fine? in the designer or in the CRM?
    Please also take reference to the solution of some possible factors:
    1. If you got the error "Subreport Could Not Be shown" only in the CRM and all works fine in the designer, the issue can be caused by the relationship between parent report and sub report got disturbed and CRM doesn't able to link these sub reports.
    From Reports section select the sub report and click on edit
    Remove the value in Parent Report look up field
    Map Parent Report again
    Re-publish the reports. Below steps will help us in publishing the reports again
    Open command prompt on CRM application server
    Go to Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Tools folder
    PublishReports.exe NameOfYourOrg
    Ex: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Tools\PublishReports.exe mytestcrm
    If the above setting still doesn't work, please try to delete both the subreport and main report in CRM and try to upload once again, If it possible, please first redesign the main report in designer.

    2.  Another alternative method is using an rectangle instead of the tablix to put the subreports, you can use  this to see if the problem still exists.
    Any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 400 MFP M425dn won't print text at 72 point size or larger

    My workplace recently purchased an HP LaserJet Pro 400 MFP M425dn all-in-one printer. It works excellently with the exception of the fact that it won't print text that's 72 points or larger in size. I've tried numerous fonts that're pre-installed with Windows, and all of them print properly at point size 71.5 or smaller; anything else simply doesn't show up in prints. The content that's sized at 72 points or higher *does* affect the flow of other printed content on the page, however. It's like the 72-point or larger text is occupying space, but it's completely invisible on the printed page. I've tested this using Microsoft Word 2002 on three separate computers, two of which have Windows 7 installed and one of which has Windows Vista installed. The problem is identical on all three computers. The printer is connected via ethernet cable to our wired network. I've installed the included printer software, and I don't believe that there are any updates to it that weren't installed up to this point. Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue?

    hello, i only made an account to solve this for you guys because it has been a headache for me also.... let me apologize before hand for terrible grammar and punctuation i am in a huge hurry  Now this may not work for everybody but i fixed it on my machine with the following   now before you print ...use (ctrl+p) in your word processor to open the print window click on (properties) then navigate to the (advanced) tab now, I have a section called printer features under this category there is an option to "send truetype as bitmap" enable this and see if it can help any of you, for me, with this ENABLED I can print any size font my word processor will allow me to type  specs of my machinedell d6420win7msoft word 2007 printer itself is hp laserjet 200 color m276 printer driver is HP LaserJet 200 color MFP M276 PCL 6 i understand that this printer and driver is not identical to yours per se  but the nature of these drivers makes it highly likely that this solution will work for most of you  if this helps, have somebody else post it more noticeably because i will probly not be signing back in to this website i created this account just to post this and hopefully solve this annoying issue for many of you ...no kudos needed

  • Select text based on format (free form style text)

    As suggested by Apple, I'm trying to create my first ePub using Pages as opposed to inDesign.
    I only have a PDF as a source file and don't want to re-type all the text.
    When I copy the text from the PDF and paste to Pages, the text comes in with the 'free form' style applied no matter what options I select during copy and paste.
    In order to produce an ePub, I need to set styles for the text. This is quite tedious.
    Is there any way to select text based on the way it is formatted when styles are not applied to the text?

    Here is a script which may be useful if your problem surface again.
    --{code}
    --[SCRIPT words_attributes_to_Style]
    Enregistrer le script en tant que Script : words_attributes_to_Style.scpt
    déplacer le fichier ainsi créé dans le dossier
    <VolumeDeDémarrage>:Users:<votreCompte>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
    Il vous faudra peut-être créer le dossier Pages et peut-être même le dossier Applications.
    Ouvrir un document Pages contenant des mots soulignés
    Aller au menu Scripts , choisir Pages puis choisir “words_attributes_to_Style”
    Le script appliquera :
    le style "Souligné" aux mots soulignés
    le style "Accentuation" aux mots en gras
    le style "Italic" (si vous l'avez créé) aux mots en italique.
    --=====
    L’aide du Finder explique:
    L’Utilitaire AppleScript permet d’activer le Menu des scripts :
    Ouvrez l’Utilitaire AppleScript situé dans le dossier Applications/AppleScript.
    Cochez la case “Afficher le menu des scripts dans la barre de menus”.
    Sous 10.6.x,
    aller dans le panneau “Général” du dialogue Préférences de l’Éditeur Applescript
    puis cocher la case “Afficher le menu des scripts dans la barre des menus”.
    --=====
    Save the script as a Script: words_attributes_to_Style.scpt
    Move the newly created file into the folder:
    <startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
    Maybe you would have to create the folder Pages and even the folder Applications by yourself.
    Select a Pages document embedding underlined words
    Go to the Scripts Menu, choose Pages, then choose “words_attributes_to_Style”
    The script will apply :
    the named style "Underlined" to the underlined words
    the named style "Emphasis" to bolded words
    the named style "Italic" (assuming that you defined it) to italicized words.
    --=====
    The Finder’s Help explains:
    To make the Script menu appear:
    Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
    Select the “Show Script Menu in menu bar” checkbox.
    Under 10.6.x,
    go to the General panel of AppleScript Editor’s Preferences dialog box
    and check the “Show Script menu in menu bar” option.

  • Why won't show buttons only on this PC player?

    Both me and a friend of mine have just made (separately) a few menus for one client...the menus I've done all use a simple one layer transparent png file (done in photoshop) of arrows next to each video which SHOULD highlight as you roll over the text...My friend also did a few menus (on his mac) but used psd files which have buttons on separate layers as well as a text highlight when rolled over...
    Problem is while these burned DVD's with our menus play fine on macs and even set top players, even on a player called Interplay on a PC, both his and my menus will not HIGHLIGHT on Windows Media Player - ie, the arrows on my png file won't show up at all ever, on Windows player, even latest version. You still get the mouse turning into a hand/finger when you roll over a button, but there is never any icon/arrow showing up as it should, next to the text one rolls over - do you have to use something other than psd or png for Windows Media Player, or what is a fix for this Windows thing, what advice can you give - client (and us) not happy. They say it MUST be able to play correctly on Windows Media Player (as it's the most pervasive).
    We are both using DVD SP 4.2.1.
    Thanks
    K

    Actually the problem is Windows Media Player. WMP is well know for being the buggiest DVD player around. All the PC hardware manufacturers are well aware of how buggy WMP is so they all include a more reliable program for playing DVDs. Typically PowerDVD or WinDVD. HP installs WinDVD on every PC that has a DVD drive because they know how unreliable WMP is. I think Dell installs PowerDVD. If you check with your client you will find that they have something more reliable than WMP already installed on their computer. Use that.

  • [JS CS3] Show Text Threads

    Does anyone know the syntax to script the View > Show Text Threads command in CS3? It seems that it should be something like:
    app.activeDocument.viewPreferences.showTextThreads
    ...but that isn't in the DOM. I can't seem to locate it. Can this be done?

    Hi Fred,<br /><br />Here's a little function which will retrieve any menu action based on it <br />name (which appears in the UI). It's much quicker to access menus <br />directly (rather than loop), but this is an easy way to find them.<br /><br />function GetMenuAction(name){<br />    var menus = app.menuActions;<br />    for(var i=0;i<menus.length;i++){<br />        var menu = menus[i];<br />        if(menu.name == name){return menu}<br />        }<br />    return null;<br />    }<br /><br />Actually, this works too:<br /><br />menu = app.menuActions.item("Show Text Threads"<br /><br />Harbs

  • Text based VI Icon editor with letter compression

    For anyone who is looking for a quick and easy text based icon editor I've posted my latest version in the LAVA CR
     http://forums.lavag.org/downloads.html&showfile=56
    Description:
    This is the second version of my vi icon editor and was created in LV8.2. The purpose is to help quickly create text base icons. The editor can be used in place of the standard NI icon editor or as a stand alone vi. see instructions. My original posting of the icon editor Ver. 1 can be found here
    LabVIEW 7.0,7.1 http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?s=&s...ost&p=19022
    LabVIEW 8.0 http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?s=&s...ost&p=12920
    Instructions:
    1: The icon editor was designed to be used as a replacement for the standard NI editor LV8.x only. To get LabVIEW 8.x to use the editor place the three files (lv_icon.vi, color templates.bin and the folder lv_icon_Subvis) in the LabVIEW 8.2\resource\plugins directory.
    The next time the icon editor is called LabVIEW will use the lv_icon.vi instead of the standard one.
    There is a button on the editor that will allow you to use NI’s editor when a text icon is not desired.
    2: The icon editor can also be called from another vi or used as a stand alone tool. Make sure the “From Editor” control is set to false either via terminal in the lower left corner of the connector pane or manually in the FP. This setting indicates to the vi that a vi reference will be used to extract and save the icon information. If the “VI REF” input control is invalid at runtime a dialogue box will appear asking the user to select a vi.
    New features:
    Along with the auto drawing and Text compressing from version 1, version 2 has 2 new features.
    1: In addition to the 2 color format in version 1 the icon editor now supports a 5 color format (Frame, Header text, Header Back, Body Text, and Body Back). This is the standard frame that many programmers use.
    2: In version 2 the last 10 icon color sets are saved in a binary file and are recalled each time the editor is open. These color sets can then be selected and reused.
    Future Ideas and improvements:
    A graphics picker that would import a list of graphics to choose from
    Template creators were text zones could be created to avoid interfering with graphics.
    Incorporate some or all of the Ni editor functions.
    Text extractor that would fill in the text boxes from the icon image.
    Please feel free to give me feedback. This version has benefited greatly from ideas given to me by coworkers and other programmers.

    Version 2.2:
    Along with the all the features from version 2.1, version 2.2 has several new features.
    1: A new color picker was added. The standard NI color picker has been replaced by one that will only show the legal 221 colors allowed by LabVIEW for icons.
    My thanks to Justin Goeres for the idea.
    2:Key navigation has improved. The key navigation will only set focus to the text boxes to navigate between boxes use the tab, enter, up and down keys.
    My thanks to boone_93 for the idea.
    3:Improved UI. The buttons and current and previous icons have been relocated for a more intuitive look. I have also added tip strips to the buttons and history array.
    My thanks to ahull for the idea.
    4:Random color picker. A random color button has been added to help pick colors.
    My thanks to Dave Graybeal for the idea.
    5: FP auto centers. The icon editor will now open in the center of the primary display.
    My thanks to tcplomp for the code.
    6: The ability to read the text in the icon was added. If the icon to be changed was previously created by this icon editor the program will automatically detect the characters in the icon and convert them back into strings. This function allows for small changes like color changes and spelling mistakes to be changed without having to type all the text over.
    This one was all mine.
    7:Bug with Panel close fixed. When the user presses the x in the upper right corner the editor will shut down gracefully instead of locking up.
    I made a avi file that shows some of the new features for Version 2.2 which I posted the support thread.
    Please feel free to give me feedback. This version has benefited greatly from ideas given to me by coworkers and other programmers.
