236,,No connection to gateway ???

Hello Experts,
We are getting following error in one of our production system very frequently in sysstem logsSM21
"Communication error, CPIC return code 020, SAP return code 236"
Error says "236,,No connection to gateway"
Could you please suggest what may be the reason for getting this error ?
What needs to be cheked from Basis side.
Thanks
Regards,
Amber S

Hi Amber,
Could you please suggest what may be the reason for getting this error ?
The errors you encounter indicate that the problem lies in the
underlying network layer.  This error is network error or due to the load on the server refusing the connect from the server. Connection to gateway could not be established. Normally this is because a RFCs resource lack or connect
time-out.
What needs to be cheked from Basis side?
1.increase the parameter rdisp/max_gateways to 200.
2.Also check if your /etc/services files have the correct entries.
3. Set the below parameters if your release is below 700.
      gw/cpic_timeout = 1800
      gw/gw_disconnect = 0
4. And also check the notes..590929, 559119, 34116
Hope it resolves your issue.
Thanks
Kishore

Hi, likely you can, but which 23" is it, one requires an expensive DVI-> ADC connector, not the cheaper ADC->DVI connector, the later one has DVI already.
Then it depends what output your Gateway has for Video.

  • Social Cannot connect to gateway error

I know that alot of people are having this issue as well as I. but i just have a bit of info that might help sovle it.
I noticed that this error only started occuring with the new version of social (1.2) because i have 2 N8's and one of them has V1.1 and it works flawlessly but my other N8 has V1.2 and it always tells me that it cannot connect to gateway.
Hope this helps, and if anyone finds the answer plz let me know thanks!

If you have done the following and still can't access Ovi Social, this might be the one for you:
    1. Created an Ovi Account
    2. Restore and Delete
    3. Re-flash your unit with Nokia Center Support
ATTENTION: This issue is a Nokia problem.
"Nokia is putting their free services and paid services on one server."
Currently, https://sm.ovi.messaging.nokia.com/cds is being accessed by Ovi Social which is a free service. Now this URL is identified as 67.220.123.45 and is tagged as one of Nokia's paid services, Nokia Push Mail. One may experience this problem if a) the Telco offers Nokia Push Mail and b) if the subscriber is a prepaid account. In the Philippines, Nokia Push Mail is being offered by Smart and I have a prepaid account so i can't access Ovi Social. I tried using a postpaid SIM and it work perfectly fine. Now I tried it with Globe using a prepaid SIM and it works perfectly fine but i think they don't offer Nokia Push Mail (yet) so that figures. I don't know why Nokia is so quiet about this issue, they should address this problem. This is still a pending issue in Smart-side because Nokia is still not answering.
    Solution: Try changing Telco

  • Hi All , Getting connection to Gateway error when synchronizing in MI

Hi All , Getting connection to Gateway error when synchronizing in MI using MAU application .
    Please provide the solution ASAP.
Also provide the notes which can be avilable in SERVICE.SAP
    Thanks&Regards.
    Bharat

    Hi,
well, the error - you should get this error as well if you sync with a new and empty client? It seems your Sync service is down. Check the sync service itself. Is the URL accessible from the device itself?
It is usually not related to the App (MAU in your case) it is related to the ladscape itself.
Can you add the correct error message and the part of the trace that shows the message? Including the lines before with the ping if the server is available?
    Regards,
    Oliver

  • C7 Social: Unable to connect to Gateway!!!

    Hello All,
When i'm trying to use Social client in C7 getting the message "Unable to connect to Gateway".  It was working fine for some days. Any idea why this issue is occurring?? How to overcome from this??

    Hi,
    Please clarify me the following.
You specified the login name as 'SADMIN'. Is this the login id, that you used for your Operating System? "Entered name account authentication gateway server name" expects you to enter the NT login, not the DB login.
You may also expected to specify your network name, if your login id is specific to a network. e.g Oracle\Rajkumar assuming that Oracle is your network and Rajkumar is the user name.
You may not expected to have the DSN created, as Gateway may not be interested in knowing which DB you are connected to. And you neither enter the 'DB name' anywhere in the 'Gateway Server Configuration', if my understanding is right.
    Please confirm.

  • Netlet fails: "Unable to connect to Gateway: default:443"

i have installed the portal 3.0 sp4, MAP and HP for sp4.
when using netlet, it tells me: "Unable to connect to Gateway: default:443"
the platform.conf file contains the right gateway name.
why does the netlet uses default:443 instead of the right gateway name and port?
    thnx, thomas

after reinstalling the server and the gateway, i face the same problem again, but i found out, that the error only occurs when the anonymous desktop is enabled.
logging in using ldap authentication, everything works; but logging in, using the anonymous desktop, and then loging in at the login-chanel using ldap-authentication, the error occurs, when using Netlet.
    looking at the install logs, i found out that the sp4 wasn't able to update the "iwtGateway-netletproxy-port" and the "iwtNaming-sessionURL" attributes;
could one of this be respobsible for the failure ?
has anyone an idea, how to solve the problem ?
    thnx, thomas

    Issue with Netlet.
Trying to define the following rule so non-browser application can do

(where <host> is the relevant webserver)
    Getting the following error:

    Any assistance greatly appreciated.

It seems that this problem is stemming from the variable "WT.gateway"
(stored in the com.iplanet.portalserver.session.Session object) being set
to "default". This causes the applet parameters of the Netlet to be
incorrect. The "remoteHost_x" parameter is being taken literally and the

  • SharePoint 2013 and SAP connectivity / SAP Gateway for Microsoft and Duet Enterprise 2.0

    Hello,
we are investigating the connection possibilities of SharePoint 2013 with SAP.
The basic scenario in our cases involves the transfer of documents and/or metadata from SharePoint to SAP possibly through a Workflow in SharePoint.
From my research the most promising official (no 3d-party) interfaces that can be used are the Duet Enterprise 2.0 and the SAP Gateway for Microsoft.
From my understanding both interfaces allow only the consumption of Data from SAP to SharePoint and not vice versa. Moreover the interoperability of documents seems not be supported. Are CRUD operations from a SharePoint native lists to SAP supported?
Can someone please clarify this topics?
I have found lots of documentation concerning the interfaces but not a clear answer to this questions.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Ioannis

    Hi Ioannis,
It seems that there is no built in method to get data from SharePoint list in SAP.
As a workaround, we can export SharePoint list to excel and then use that spread sheet as a source data in SAP.
    http://scn.sap.com/thread/3467263

As this issue is regarding to SAP, I recommend you to ask the question in the SAP:

More experts will assist you, then you will get more information relation to SAP.

  • Trouble connecting older Gateway desktop to home network

    Hi all-
I am trying to connect an older Gateway 5200s desktop (that we have used for internet previously) to my current home network, but I'm not getting any internet connectivity.
Home router is Actiontec M1424 wr rev E.
the old Gateway uses Windows XP Prof v 2002 SP3
The wireless network adapter is 1394 Net Adapter and also the Intel R pro/100 VE network connection
(the Intel adapter says a "network cable is unplugged" and I never knew what that meant- connections have worked in the past)
My current home system is a Dell desktop running Windows Vista home

Did you connect wirelessly before with this machine?  Whose wireless adapter is the 1394 network adapter? - typically that means a firewire adapter that is not wireless.

Has this something to do with RFC-connections? Or do we need to open a port?

    Hi,
There is some problem with the Jco connection. If you go to JcO maintenence and test the connectivity of each data/metadata  (in webdynpro page of Content admin)you will know which connection has the problem. The causes might be
    1. Service not included in services file of the server
    2. Wrong parameter
    3. Something wrong in SLD

  • Siebel 8.1.1 on linux - server fails to connect to gateway after stop/start

I have a very stubborn symptom in my environment, with Siebel SIA 8.1.1 [21111] on OEL 5 2.6.18.
Everything will be working fine after initial install, then I stop the Siebel Server and Gateway, start the services again and the Siebel Server fails to start. The NameServer.log complains that the server cannot connect to the gateway configuration store, and that the login password is incorrect. However it was just working minutes prior. Once it fails like that I can fiddle with it all day and still the Siebel Server will not start.
I have tried a number of suggestions found, verifying the odbcsql command works, verifying the memory files *.shm is not still in the admin directory, making sure all approp. processes are closed after stopping the siebel server, recreating the gateway and siebel server services, rebooting the vm.
The symptom and log messages never change. Once in a while for no apparent reason the siebel server will start again but sure enough if I stop it, it won't come back up.
I have a couple of environments that I have worked with and tried things but both experience the same symptom.

Good one. For reference its detailed in

    About my installation environment:
    Windows XP
I've enlarged the page file size before installation.
I've looked up the info from Internet, so I've checked the following:
    Under \system32\driver\etc\hosts
10.10.10.10  <domainname> <hostname> is configued as a loopback address (I was prompted to use loopback adapter when installing Oracle, because my network adapter uses DHCP)
    Under \system32\driver\etc\services
sapgw00     3300/tcp     # SAP System Gateway Central Instance Port
sapgw00s     4800/tcp     # SAP System Gateway Security Port
I can ping 10.10.10.10 (get response)
(Any possibility that the installation user can not access 10.10.10.10:3300 ??, I don't know.)
However, I can't logged on the system, because in the MMC, "disp+work.exe" turns yellow(Dialog Queue standstill) and then becomes gray.
Some experts in some forums have commented that a long hostname (>8 characters) might be the problem. Is it true?
(I've not installed the standalone gateway instance yet. ) When do I need to install the gateway instance? Now, I installed as follows: DB software->Central Instance->DB instance.
    Thanks in advance.

However this holds good for NW 2004 also.
To resolve this error you will need to upgrade your SAP kernel level.
    1)     Download the kernel.  i.e.  sapdbexe.sar and sapexe.sar.
    2)     uncar the files sapdbexe.sar and sapexe.sar using the sapcar.exe
On dos prompt go to the particular directory where u have downloaded the above sar files using "cd" command.
    3)     To Uncar the files use this command on dos prompt
SAPCAR -xvf <your-SAR-file> to uncar the files.
    4)     shut down sap using the MMC.
then in  windows services.msc stop saposcol ,stop oracle service sapserviceSID and  and the sapSID_##
    5)     Now just copy the new kernel files you have uncared above into the /usr/sap/SID/exe/run/ directory of your system
    6)     Start the services you stopped and start SAP using the MMC.
Now you should be able to logon. Sometimes the MMC shows the yellow status due to missing workprocess status. However the system should work fine.
