  • How do I attach my iSight camera to my Apple Cinema Display?

I've just bought two iSight cameras, and found nothing in the accessory kit with them that would allow me to attach the camera to my Apple Cinema Display. This is because the back of the Cinema Display is beveled rather than flat, so the flat base of the accessories won't set firmly.
Does anybody have a solution for this?

  • How do i connect my Fujitsu Tablet + mac Pro to Apple Cinema Display 23'?

    Dear Mac users
thanks in advance for your help.
    I currently own:
    • Fujitsu T 4220 (tablet) – Mobile Intel 965 Express – 60 Hertz – goes up to 1680*1050 (guess SXGA) – (it has the following other supported resolutions: 1400*1050, 1280*1024, 1280*768, 1280*720, 1024*768, and 800*600)
    • Mac Pro
    • Apple Cinema Display 23’
What I would like to do is, please refer to the jpeg posted on http://www.flickr.com/photos/34831802@N06/3234336204/, connect – at the same time – my tablet pc and my Mac Pro to the 23' Apple Cinema Display and switch (when I need) from tablet to MacPro using the same 23’ ACD. Top would be to be able to switch for one to the other while they’re both switched on. Usually on 2 pc’s with vga I’d use a switch A → B (in the jpeg it would be I → E) with a selector.

+ others on the net and have (hopefully) understood that:
    a) from Vga to Dvi I need a converter such as Geffen’s or similar
    b) the problem with ACD 23’ is that it has only 3 resolutions: 1024*640, 1280*800 or 1920*1200
In the attached image I guessed a connection in order to connect – at the same time – both the machines to the 23’ ACD:
    1) my fujitsu tablet (i in the image) has to be connected, with a Vga cable (h), to the Vga → Dvi converter (g).
    2) from the Vga → Dvi converter (g) I need to connecto to the Dvi switch (c)
    3) easier is connecting the Mac Pro (e), since I only need a Dvi cable (d) to connecto to the Dvi switch (c)
    4) the Dvi switch (c) will then be connected to the 23’ ACD with a Dvi cable
    Now, my questions are:
    a) is the solution described above (Vga cable (h) to the Vga → Dvi converter (g)) a good solution or should I use, instead, a docking statione that comes with a Fujitsu Port Replicator (FPCPR65) which has a 1 x DVI-D port?
    b) Given the 3 resolution accepted by the 23’ ACD (1024*640, 1280*800 or 1920*1200), I do not understand if I can use my tablet through a Vga to Dvi Converter and at which resolution (my tablet has the following other supported resolutions: 1680*1050, 1400*1050, 1280*1024, 1280*768, 1280*720, 1024*768, and 800*600).
    c) Is there a way, also using an external video card or converter, to bring my resolution from 1680*1050 to 1920*1200? (the 16:10 ratio is in fact the same = WXGA (1280x800), WXGA+ (1440x900), WSXGA+ (1680x1050), WUXGA (1920x1200)
    d) Talking about Vga → Dvi converter (g), am aware of the gefen product. Can you please list some others that might be good as well?
    e) And how about the DVI switch? Any will work? Any particular suggestion?
Thank you very much for your help.
If you have any other suggestion, please let me know.
    Regards,
    Emil

    Noone to help me?

  • Connecting a keyboard to Apple Cinema Display with MBA

    Hi,
I have a mid 2013 MacBook Air, (OSX 10.9.2). My Apple Cinema Display is the older 23" (got it in 2008) and I have connected my MacBook Air to the display through my mini display port DVI adapter and it works great.
My question is --- I want to now connect a keyboard --- does a wireless keyboard or mouse work? My Cinema display only has a USB 2.0 and FW ports.
    Thanks alot.

Yes.  Wireless mice or keyboards connect to the computer via Bluetooth.  The display type doesn't matter.

  • New Mac Mini and Apple Cinema Display

I have just upgraded my Mac (G5 PowerMac) to a new Mac Mini.  I am still using my Apple Cinema display - but I cannot not play all the purchased movies that I have on iTunes now...????

    Greg,
Are these movies HD? If they are, you might be having a problem with HDCP which is copy protection that won't let you view movies if all of your equipment is not HDCP compliant, which probably is your Cinema display. I also have a late 2012 Mac mini with an older Apple 20" Cinema display and cannot watch HD itunes movies. You will have to watch in standard definition. Of course you might have  a different problem, but your question seemed similar with my situation. What is strange is that you were able to watch from your G5 Powermac. Maybe the power PC chip allowed viewing as opposed to intel chips, which I think intel created HDCP. Somebody on these boards probably has better answers then me ;-)

  • Can I use an old Apple Cinema Display with new Mac Mini?

Currently I have an early PowerMac G5 that I bought used recently. It came with an Apple Cinema Display (20", I think - resolution is 1680x1050). The Cinema Display does not have a separate power cord so it must be powered from the PowerMac. My question is this - would I be able to use this monitor with a new Mac Mini - would it be able to power it the same as the PowerMac is currently.
Thanks in advance for your help. This is the first Mac I have owned since a "Fat Mac" many years ago (one of those with the 9" black and white screen).

Are you sure you have a 20" CINEMA display? I have 2x 20" CINEMA displays and both have their own power cord (and power brick). Maybe yours is a STUDIO display??? IDK if STUDIO displays worked that way or not, I've never owned one. Anyways, I have a 20" CINEMA display connected to my new Mac mini (early 2009) via the MiniDVI>DVI adapter and it works fine but is powered through the power cord though. I too have a PowerMac G5 (quad) but my PowerMac cannot power the displays without them being plugged in via their power cords. I am thinking you must have a STUDIO display or maybe there was an earlier version of the CINEMA display that could work that way.... idk. Mine were purchased at the end of 2005 along with the PowerMac G5 (quad).

  • How can I run a 27" Apple Cinema Display and another monitor from my MacBook Pro?

    Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a brand new 15"  MacBook Pro to replace my old one. I was told when ordering it that I would be able to hook up two external monitors to it using the Matrox DualHead2Go hardware. So, I also bought a 27" Cinema Display (non-Thunderbolt since it wouldn't work with the DH2Go). However, when I contacted Matrox they said their products don't support screens as large as the 27" ACD.
    Bummer!
So, my question is: does anyone know how I can hookup a 27" Apple Cinema Display at 2560x1440 and a Acer 22" monitor at 1685x1050 (or, anything less really) to my new MacBook Pro?
I've looked around and haven't been able to find a good answer.
    Thanks for your help!

Will something like this work? A USB to VGA adapter? Can I use this at the same time that I have a Cinema Display plugged into the Mini-DVI port and will they both work at the same time? Anyone know?

  • Where can I buy a Brand New Apple Cinema Display 30"?

    Hi,
I Already posted my question in the older Display topic, but I'm not sure it was the good place, so I post it here. If it's not the good place, you can move my thread to the good topic. Thanks.
I'm looking for mounths to buy a brand new 30" Apple Cinema Display. I went to some Apple reseller/Apple Stores and each of them didn't really knew where I could buy it since it's discontinued. I can't believe there is no brand new 30" Apple Cinema Display lying around in some Apple Stores/Apple general center at Toronto or anywhere in USA.
I really want one of them, and I'm ready to make anything to get one (phone call etc). I would like to get some help of where I can call or where I can go to get what I want. The price doesn't really matter now.
    Thanks!

Have you done google searches for it ("Apple 30" cinema display")?  That's all I can recommend.
A quick google search turned up this page which apparently lists some new 30"s.
Note, I did not follow those links to see if "new" really meant "new".

  • Apple Cinema Display LED A1267 with macbook air 2011

    Hi
    i have a macbook air 11" 2011 Model A1370, with thundebolt port
    they are offering me a
    Apple Cinema Display LED (24-Inch)
    Identifiers: LED Cinema Display - MB382LL/A - A1267
it comes with the triple cable, magsafe, minidisplay y usb
the question is, minidisplay is the same port as thunderbolt?
i will be able to use it, with the macbook air opened and closed?
it will transmit video and audio or only video?
    thank you

If the USB cable is connected to the computer, you can use the display as an USB hub; FireWire works the same way, but you need a FireWire 400 to 800 adapter or a FireWire ExpressCard to use it.

  • Is the 24 inch Apple Cinema Display the best choice for Final Cut Studio 2

I'm about to order a Mac Pro and Final Cut Studio 2 and have a question about monitor choices.
Is the 24 inch Apple Cinema Display the best choice are there non-Apple monitors that will do as good or better job with HD editing and output?

COMPUTER MONITORS bear very little on HD editing and output...especially output. They are just the monitors you use to look at your clips and your timeline. THey work for SD and HD. You really only use them to, well, as I said, see what you are doing. It would be nice to have GOOD ONES so the image looks decent. I use the Dell 24" monitors. The current one is the 2408. Nearly half the price of the Apple 23" displays...and really, the only Apple 23" that exists connects via their new connector, so you need a new MacPro or MacBook pro...or some adapter, to get it to work. And they are not worth the extra money, in my experience.
    Samsung monitors are also good.

  • Apple Cinema Display

HI. I have a question. I am replacing (finally) a MAC G5 PPC with a MAC Intel (tower). I have 2 Apple Cinema Displays - a 20 inch and a 23 inch. When I migrated everything from the PPC to the INTEL, I hooked up one monito to each cmputer. Good. All fine and dandy. Now, I shut everything down and I want to connet both Apple Cinema Displays to the new Intel. However... the new Intel has DVI pots and only one PIN port. Ok..so I went and bought a MINIDisplay to DVI adapter. Now.. here's the problem:
When I pug in both displays, the bigger 23 inch stays dark (although the power is on)...but it takes OVER as a primary display! Which annoys me because now I cannot see my desktop...only that is in he secondsary monitor...  So I went to System Preferences and tried the DETECT DISPLAYS.... it only shows one. However when I go to GATHER WINDOWS..  I see TWO blue icons that symblize displays. My bigger display..still dark. I tried resetting the PRAM...nothing.
I'm wondering if all of a sudden my biggers display gave out? I mean..it was just eralier today that it was working. Oh...and one more thing: if I do not use the 20 inch and plug in ONLY the 24 inch... still dark.
Help. (my mac is Intel Tower running on Mac OS 10.7
    Many thanks in advance.
PS I now see two window displyas when I say DETECT WINDOWS One is 1920x1200 (which I assume is the 23 inch) and the other is 1680x1080 (which I assume is the 20 inch). So I would think that the system preferences can detect these two monitors, but why is my 4 inch black??? Did it fry>

Solved it. I am an idiot. It was the power unit. They look the same so I hooked up the 20 inch to the 24 and viceversa. I'm an idiot :-)

  • Apple cinema display, IP address, Computer Name and Apache

I have been working on getting Apache, php, mySql setup to do a bit of web design and playing with wview (weather station), drupal, wordPress, etc.  Right off the bat, let me make clear that I am not attempting to host sites to the big bad WAN.  LAN only!
The changes to OS X over the last several versions were a definite speed bump but with the help of Neil Gee's youTube video and this forum pointing me to a permissions problem, Apache, mySql, and php are installed.  Browsing localhost, localhost/~myname and a couple of sites I set up using vhosts in ~myname/Sites from the laptop works.  Joy!    Browsing from other computers on the network nothing worked. Half a day googling the problem before I noticed something odd about the IPv4 Address for my Mac.... when I tried switching it to a static IP I got the message that the IP was already in use.
At this point I need to describe my setup... a MBP with Thunderbolt connection to an Apple Cinema display.  The ACD is connected via ethernet and the laptop was connected to the LAN via the Thunderbolt.  The network router is (unfortunately) an HGV-3800 whose radio is turned off.  Wireless in the household is accomplished by a Time Capsule in bridge mode.  Not my preferred setup but after killing off several good days, I capitulated to the recommended AT&T configuration.
A quick browse of devices on the router revealed that the IP being used by my MBP/ACD had an unknown device name while all the other devices in the house had their names... odd.  So I fired up the wireless on the MBP and took another look at the device list... the router listed this new connection with my correct device name.  Even better, when I browsed to http://myComputerName and http://myComputerName/~myname from another computer on the LAN the It Works! and My Site Works! came up perfectly.  However, the sites that i set up in vhosts stubbornly refuse to come up on the other devices.
My interpretation of what is happening with the ethernet connection to the ACD is that this connection is not identified as being to my laptop... it is to the ACD and somehow the laptop is borrowing it... surfing works and I can connect for file sharing to other computers on the LAN (though it is a bit clunky)... the borrowed connection is not up to the task of hosting on the LAN.  My question about this is whether there is a setting I can make which will correct this behaviour and allow the Thunderbolt connection to function as if the ethernet was directly connected to the laptop?
The other more important question is what is needed to make the sites I have in myComputer/~myName/Sites browseable from other devices on the LAN... these same sites that are coming up perfectly when I browse to mySite1.com from the laptop?
I am not really looking for advice to go get Mavericks Server... many different issues with that scenario.

Your router only has a limited about of features to make it "stealthy."
Here are a few things you can try...
    - Access the router's web-based administration @ http://192.168.0.1.
    - Advanced > Virtual Server
-- Virtual Server: Disabled (pg. 25)
    - Advanced > Applications
    -- Applications: Disabled (pg. 26)
    - Advanced > Firewall
    -- Enabled (pg. 31)
    - Advanced > DMZ
    -- Disabled (pg. 33)
    - Tools > Admin
-- Change the default passwords for both the admin & user accounts.
-- Remote Management: Disabled (pg. 36)

  • Xbox 360 on a Apple Cinema Display (20')

    Hi,
I googled around the internet a bit, and I couldn't really find an suitable answer to my question.
I've got a Apple Cinema Display, and i'm wondering if I could connect my X360 to it.
The main problem seems to be that the display only has a DVI-in and no VGA. But really, after that google-session yesterday, i still don't have a clue wether it's possible or not. (And if it's possible: how to make it work). I hope someone here can help me out.
Regards, and thanks for your help!

Do you know that that box works with a 20" ACD which is 1680 x 1050? According to the published spec on that page, it's not compatible. See below. The 20" ACD rez is not on the list of supported timings/reolutions:
    Output PC Resolution Support
    • VGA 640 x 480 @ 50/60/72/75/85 Hz, RGBHV, progressive scan
    • SVGA 800 x 600 @ 50/56/60/72/75/85 Hz, RGBHV, progressive scan
    • XGA 1024 x 768 @ 50/60/70/75/85 Hz, RGBHV, progressive scan
    • WXGA 1280 x 768 @ 50/60 Hz, RGBHV, progressive scan
    • SXGA 1280 x 1024 @ 50/60 Hz, RGBHV, progressive scan

  • Dual G5 won't boot with printer plugged in to 23" Apple Cinema Display

I shut down my Dual G5 the other day due to the excessive
heat it throws out as we were having someone stay in our guest room.
Upon restart next day it would not boot up entirely it would get
to the apple screen with start up wheel (not beachball)
then it would go to a blue screen and stay.
I have cross eliminated the problem to a print device
that I had plugged into the back of the 23" Apple Cinema Display.
I merely unplugged the usb and the computer finished loading up.
I have a slimline keyboard plugged into monitor as well and that does not seem
to cause any problems. Has any one had this problem and or a fix.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sean

Hi, and a Warm Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Power Mac G5 Forum!
Well - presuming that you have inspected the tab on the locating peg of the air deflector for damage - shown in Figure 4 here
    http://www.info.apple.com/usen/cip/pdf/g5/073-0891.pdf
and that the booting ok without the deflector, and then running ok with the deflector is a repeatable symptom - there is some discussion of a similar-ish problem here
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5748156#5748156
The theory there was that 10.4.10 was picking up on a (real or imagined) CPU-Logic Board mismatch - which may have continued into 10.5.1. As suggested, this may be able to be verified by checking the entries in system.log. If nothing in the log catches the eye, you could copy and post the Startup sequence entries.
There are some things to try suggested there; running the Apple Service Diagnostic is a possible as you still have AppleCare. It would be interesting to hear what they think is the problem.
Please post again if you have any questions. Good Luck.
