24" Apps Crashing. Dead Pixel

Got my iMac 24" and its having some issues. iTunes, Yahoo Messenger,iWeb, Safari,FinalCut Express, iPhoto and other apps keep crashing. Plus a dead pixel Pixel Fix didn't work. I have updated everything. I am not sure why this is happening. I even did a format and install, still the same issues. Hardware test say everything is running good. Anything else I can try? I bought it off apple's store & waited for 2 weeks to get it. I don't want to return it if possible.

Dude, it's highly unnecessary to post all of that ridiculous jargon as nobody is going to take the time to go through it to help fix your issue however based on what you said was happening it sounds like a case of bad ram which is typical along with the OS and apps constantly crashing. What I would recommend is to pull out all of the ram chips and just install one at a time and then reboot and see how the iMac performs.
Number two the pixel issue is inevitable and don't get me wrong I wouldn't be happy getting a beautiful machine like that and getting a dead pixel on the screen but that happens.
3rd, your iMac only has one CPU not 2. It's one CPU with 2 cores. Only the Mac Pro has 2 CPU's and that's what makes it a quad core and the iMac a dual core.
Let us know how things work out.

  • RMBP image retention, flickering screen, crashing, dead pixels

    So I'm stuck with a completely messed up laptop and Apple is not giving me a replacement at all.
    The story started with me getting the Mid 2012 rMBP, had no issues, except sometimes the laptop would overheat, and perhaps once a month it would freeze. I decided to check for IR issues, and I found that I had ghosting, and after a little bit of research, also that I got the LG screen.
    As I live in Israel, the reseller told me that I need to give them the laptop for a period of 10 days (without receiving a replacement), and then they would solve the issue by replacing the hardware causing the issue. I found this time frame way too long, as I work form home in customer support, and need my laptop for editing movies for college as I'm a Communication's student. I was traveling to Hungary, where they told me it would take 2 days, as the hardware was shipped from Austria.
    In Hungary, they replaced my motherboard. Everything seemed to be working fine, until a few days later, already back in Israel, my laptop started flickering, crashed, gray screen then very loud beeps in the middle of a lecture, while I was ******** ashamed in the second row. Then I was able to retrieve my laptop from the dead, with a constant, about 3-4 crashes and restarts/hour (I still have the error screenshots from after turning the laptop back on). Later that day my computer died completely, and I wasn't able to turn it on. I had a black screen, with the beeping again.
    I took the laptop, and left it with the Israeli reseller to get it repaired, I had to travel 4 hours in total, while my friends Asu's keyboard didn't respond, they picked the laptop up from his home, then return it to him fixed. I got my laptop back, and now I have 2 dead pixels, and an even worse/visible IR issue.
    As I can't really go without my laptop for even a day, I contacted the reseller in Israel, asking them to give me a solution. A replacement, or at least a temporary laptop, while they fix mine. They told me to call the US Apple number, where if I can achieve a note that they allow my laptop to get replaced, they will gladly do so.
    I just ended my Skype conversation with a technician, and a Vice Supervisor (or something like that, sorry but I didn't quite pay attention to the title), and she told me that she is not able to do anything, and even if I would be in the states, she could only schedule a repair and not be able to replace my computer, as they don't do that at all, not even in the states.
    Now I'm standing here, in this forum, only reading that people went in to stores, and sometimes even got 9 replacements, while I am being told I need to go 10 days without my laptop, losing business, and getting behind in my studies.
    Also, I've been told that this forum is not official, as it's a community. I happened to work in IBM in Hungary, the same building where Apple customer support is located... I clearly must have the information wrong here...
    I am asking for someone to help me, in any way, shape or form. I am even considering writing an open letter to Tim Cook. I find this ridiculous...
    Thanks

    Call Apple support number and explain the situation. If the laptop is not functioning at all then not having it for a while won't make any difference.
    If it's waiting for parts, you can keep the laptop and only go to the reseller once the parts have arrives, but you have to arrange this with customer support on the phone first. The reseller can't do this for you in my experience, they will insist you leave the laptop with them.
    As for whether or not they'd replace it in the USA, it's irrelevant as you are not there. They will if the Apple hardware diagnostic says you need a replacement.
    So here's what to do:
    - Call customer support, tell them you need to keep the laptop while they're waiting for parts (repairs only take an hour or two at the most, they don't need to keep it for 10 days). If they need to send it to some repair center you'll probably have to wait though. Anyway you need to get to the second level, ask for the supervisor. STAY FRIENDLY at all times. The 2nd level customer support will give you their name, number for callback, and take on the case themselves - that's what you want.
    - Go to the reseller and have them do the hardware diagnostic. This will get sent to Apple automatically, they'll then have the results on file for the serial number of your laptop.
    Note that even in the USA an authorized reseller won't just hand you a replacement laptop. Only official Apple stores do that. And they don't always do it either. It's up to their disgression. Customer service in the official Apple stores, especially in the USA, is way better than the rest of the world. Just the way it is right now .
    PS: Google for laptop rentals in your area.

  • 3 Dead Pixels after Blue Screen crash, should I make another Genius Bar appointment?

    Ok, so yesterday I made a GB appointment, after a friend told me to, when I showed him that I had a dead pixel on my phone's screen. So when I got to apple, I showed them the dead pixel and they told me they were going to replace the screen on the phone. It turned out that the machine they use to do so, was down, so they ended up giving me a replacement phone. So I checked it out at the store and it looked fine. So now today, while running some errands, my new replacement iPhone had crashed and turned blue, then rebooted on me & a few moments after when I got back on the phone and was imessaging, I noticed 3 dead pixels instantly (one on right under the names of the contact on the message, on the J key on the board and to the middle-right where your send messages are displayed)
    Now I'm thinking that, because my originally iPhone had crashed and turned blue also and I noticed the one dead pixel on it that same day, that the blue screen crashing could possibly be causing this??
    Should I go back to the apple store and tell them what happened?

    (Update) the pixels actually all seem to be red, whenever I go on a yellow screen and I just noticed a fourth one.    I think I should take my phone in

  • Mail.app crashes entire system (etc)

    Hi all,
    One of our photography workstations had an issue with the hard disk recently that meant Apple support took us through reinstalling OS X Snow Leopard.  We then restored the main user's profile due to the profile becoming unusable during the reinstallation.
    Since then, various apps crash the entire system, Mail.app being one of them.  'Crash', in this case, means the spinning beach ball that never goes away, Finder is dead and moving the mouse over the Apple in the top left corner just shows the beach ball - 'Force Quit' is therefore inaccessible..  The Dock is also dead, meaning I can't kill Mail.app from there.  At this point the only option is to hold down the power switch and restart the system completely.
    So far, this is what I've tried.
    -     Updating all system components to the latest versions
    -     Updated all installed apps so they're up-to-date
    -     Removing Mail.app and reinstalling it from the DVD (didn't work - OS X just said the version isn't compatible and I had to restore Mail.app from a backup)
    -     Removed all Mail.app files and settings from ~/Library/Application Support etc, including /Library/Application Support, ~/Library/Preferences and /Library/Preferences.
    -     Installed Postbox.app - even that doesn't work.  Starting the app kills OS X and requires the power-button restart ... this one confuses me as it's different app (it's almost like port 25 traffic is killing the OS, although I don't see how that's possible)
    All that said, a new user profile *does* work.  That tells me that Mail.app itself is OK and that it's a profile issue.  However, I did delete all the Mail.app profile files that I could find so I'm assuming (yes, I know assumptions are bad) that the profile Mail.app created after that is actually brand new.
    However, I don't want to create a whole new profile unless it's absolutely last resort - the user profile has extensive customisation for screen calibration, printer profiles etc, all done by a very expensive external company ... I'd rather not pay them to do it all again unless it's totally unavoidable.
    Can anyone suggest any files that Mail.app might be using that I've missed?  It seems odd that Postbox.app does the same thing as Mail.app, as does the Office 2011 updating application (i.e. all kill OS X/Finder).
    When the first problem happened, the hard disk starting saying I/O error but Apple is refusing to replace the drive, despite this machine having Apple Care ...
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    I did the bolding for emphasis.  When I see the words "extensive customisation" I think those become the first suspects.

    The primary folders and files associated with Mail.app are:
    ~/Library/Mail
    ~/Library/Mail /Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
    ~/Library/Mail /Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.mail.XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.plist
    where the X's are letters and digits.
    Note that the fact that other apps are misbehaving should tell you that the problem is not with mail but more systemic.
    When the first problem happened, the hard disk starting saying I/O error but Apple is refusing to replace the drive, despite this machine having Apple Care ...
    Run Disk Utility and repair/verify your drive.  This is another red flag.

  • Problems with stuck/dead pixels, battery life, ICS, and other problems

    Stuck/Dead Pixels:
    I bought my Droid Razr at around the 21st of December last year. On or around Christmas, I found a bright red pixel on the very bottom of my screen. Unlucky for me, I was leaving for Florida on Christmas Night. I got back on December 31st. Sometime in the first week of this year, I visited my verizon store and told the customer service lady that I had a dead pixel on my screen and had just bought it. But, she told me that she needed the manager to fix this and there was no manager there. For the next week I was busy with school and sports etc and was not able to go back to the store. It was now past my 14 day return period. So I decided, its only one pixel, most people won't notice it anyway. So here I am 5 months later, just starting to discover more pixels dying on my screen. I now have the one bright red one, two light blue ones, and one dark red. I have no idea what the return policy is on defective phones, and the verizon site is designed so that you can't find anything. And an FYI, I have tried stuck pixel removers and other apps, which  haven't been successful.
    Battery Life:
    I have also been finding more problems with my phone. The battery life is terrible when 4G and even 3G are on. I actually see no difference in battery consumption between 3G/4G.  My battery dies  about 4-5X faster when data is turned on, compared to using no data. I know it isn't because of the apps I installed since when I use WiFi, the battery is alright. I also make sure that my RAM isn't above 400MB, so that the processor doesn't use a lot of battery. I feel like I completely wasted my money buying the Razr. Mainly because of the fact that the Razr Maxx was announced two weeks later, which has about 80% more battery. Not only this, but I've seen the Razr selling for only ONE PENNY on amazon over the past month and it still is. I payed $300 on my Razr.
    Ice Cream Sandwich:
    After these major problems comes another one, that I bet all Razr and Razr Maxx customers are still thinking about. When will I get Ice Cream Sandwich? It is very disappointing when you are told that you will be getting an upgrade in early 2012, and are still wondering where your upgrade is 5 full months in. From what I understand, we won't see an upgrade until the end of June, since Motorola has posted on their website that "rollouts" would begin in the second quarter. Even if they release it by the end of June, when will it get to your phone? Maybe another week or two for some people. This is another thing that I feel I wasted my money on. My brother told me to get the Nexus because of ICS, but I trusted Motorola that they would upgrade my phone in a timely manner. WRONG.
    Phone Freezing:
    One more problem that I've had is that the phone will freeze. Usually you only need to turn the screen off and on, but once in a while, you have to completely reboot your phone. When I was coming back from Florida, right as I was about to get home, my phone completely froze. I was about to go return it, but after about 15-20 minutes, it became unfrozen.
    Motion Sensor not functioning:
    Another problem, an annoying one, is that sometimes the motion sensor that controls portrait and landscape mode will just stop working. Some of the games I play are completely dependent on the motion sensor. It is very embarrassing  when you are trying to show off to an iPhone friend and major components of your phone aren't working. They always tell me "why didn't you get an iPhone?". And I really just wanted to have a phone that didn't look like everyone else's, but I guess that comes at a cost. When the motion sensor stops working, I have to shut down my phone and restart, which takes a couple minutes.
    Problems with camera:
    My last problem would be with the camera. Sometimes if you bring the camera close to something, like a barcode, it will keep trying to focus, but never will. Another problem is photo quality in low light situations. It seems like the camera can't focus because it goes from being very dark into being bright because of the flash. I doubt this can be fixed because it's hardware, but a potential fix could be having the option to keep the LED light on during picture mode, that way the camera will be able to focus correctly.
    In Conclusion:
    I really just want someone to tell me how to return my phone for a new one, due to the dead pixels. I also wish I could be upgraded to the Razr Maxx because of the poor battery life on the Razr, but from what other people are saying, that probably won't happen. And finally, if anyone has more info about Ice Cream Sandwich, that would be awesome.

    Well since it's a Manufacturing Error it should Fall under your Warranty if you got one with your Razr. You know you can Call C.S. an they can Assist you with the Matter on it.. Just remember to have another phone so they can Trouble shoot the One that is Experiencing the Issue an when you talk to them go over thing. An they should send you C.G.A.N unless they request you to send it in before you get anther one. If you feel Better going to the Store try that. And Good Luck..

  • I have the same case with you an iPad Air in dead pixel or speckle silver dust on screen.  It is been 3 months I bought in Avant Abenson in Greenbelt Makati Philippines. Today I decided to change my screen protector film but the speckle dust on the screen

    Speckles dust on the screen and it cannot be removed today when I decided to change the screen protector film and noticed is not my fault it is a factory defect on screen it is either dead pixel or speckle dust on screen they are so many said and experience I have read.  So I need the replacement a new one for that dismayed screen on my iPad Air. I bought this 3 months ago in Avant Abenson at Greenbelt Makati Philippines.  I need the replacement for tomorrow I will go to the store I bought.  I love apple products but they need to replace and make go round to improve some defects and cannot be more escalate with this issue of the many of patronizing your products.  It is sometimes irritating to the eyes and seen dirt on the screen.  Thank you apple customer service to bringing up my complaints and a replacement for tomorrow's to inform the store I bought and advise them here in the Philippines to facilitate in regards to this matter.

    I wanted to buy an ipad air to replace my ipad 2 but the one I wanted was (luckily) sold out.
    Yesterday I tested the air from a collegue and I noticed the screen was SUBSTANTIALLY less sensitive than the screen of my ipad 2 when using my stylus.
    I use Stylus R US especially for I annotate and with the air this did not work well at all... Half of the time there was no contact registered so underying certain parts of the text was a disaster...
    Just working with the finger all whent OK... Just fear that another app I use a lot (notes +) will have same problem.
    On the Ipad 4 also retina all goes *** smooth as on my ipad 2...
    Is this a fault of a specific ipad air series? Or is this normal?? If it is I think this is truelly a huge flaw and I cannot see how not manny people using the ipad for notetaking etc did not notice this...

  • Album app crashes and other problems

    I have my Z1 Compact for about 3 months now and I am countering bugs that effect the most basic uses of the phone.
    - First the Album app crashes everytime I go to "Folders" it been like that before the latest update, and afterwards.
    - The screen proximity sensor is not doing it's job. While I'm on a call sometimes my face touches different button like airplane mode, or while I'm getting a call and the phone is in my pocket my thigh touchs buttons and answer to calls.
    - The favorite contact tab sometimes is blank, although I do have favorites.
    - The Message app is slow and if I don't wait for it to complete sending a message and I go to the home screen, the app keeps it as draft although the message was sent..
    - Camera sometimes freeze but that's been discussed enough.
    - Other apps get stuck and crash sporadicaly.
    I have to say that my 3 years old iphone 4 had less bugs, so its really hard for me to say I upgraded my smartphone.
    Sony better do something about your own apps, because this phone doesn't worth the price and has many compatitors.

    Since last version the Album cannot play gif. properly. Some image have enlarge and some pixels crack in both thumbnail preview and actual view . But the Favorite preview play just fine till I tapped to view and the same problem accure.
    So I gave up on new version and back to factory version which kind of irritating....
    Anyway I waited for this latest version. In this version the thumbnail preview look fine but when tapped to see the gif.still cannot played.
    This doesn't make any sense
    Why new version is worst than FACTORY VERSION
    Thank you for considering

  • All 3rd party apps Crash - Already Restored FIVE Times to date - Apple fix?

    Since the 2.0 update my apps have had constant crashing issues. Usually after opening 8 or so apps in a row (very easy to do when downloading and testing many apps) ... Powering down and powering back up usually helped/fixed the issue, if temporarily.
    Now, since 2.0.1 I've had times when one app will crash to the home screen, and from that point on ALL 3rd party apps immediately crash. Powering down the iPod, and powering back up does not fix the problem. Resetting the ipod (Sleep and Home buttons held) does not help either. I've also tried just Syncing the ipod, but this, alas, does nothing to help.
    When it's come to this in the past I've had to do a complete iPod restore, which if it weren't just for the time taken restoring, the time taken re-arranging the icons/screens puts the process into the realm of a major pain. But having a way to assign apps to a particular screen on the ipod/iphone within iTunes is a topic for another thread.
    Is there a way around this (crashing issue) that I'm just not seeing?
    I'm tired of being and eff-ing guinea pig; this is not why I'm an apple user, this is one of the reasons I make fun of Windows people and get them to switch TO apple.

    Well, now it's official, thanks to 3rd party apps and/or faulty system software my iPod is Dead.
    When I created this thread I was having all 3rd party apps crash constantly, and instantly upon launch. The myriad of methods used to recover it to working order failed. I decided to do a Restore and use the last successful backup. It got to about the 95% mark on the restore and hung for 2 hours. The exact same place for 2 hours.
    Not having the ability or patience to wait for my iPod to get done tying up my computer, I reset it. Now, all I've got is a $299.99 Paperweight that constantly displays a nice and shiny apple logo on it's screen.
    An attempt to restore it to factory settings only gave me an error dialogue box:
    The iPod "Kuhnaydeein's iPod" could not be restored.
    An unknown error occurred (0xE8000035).
    Now what am I supposed to do? I don't live near an Apple Store, the only place that sells apple merch is the store where I work, in the department I work. I know our policy on taking back/exchanging iPods.
    What I've failed to mention is how I'm EVER going to sell one of these to someone if there's a chance they'll just be getting the same FAULTY Hardware/Software I'm now stuck with? Is Apple going to come to the rescue, read this post and replace my iPod? I sincerely hope they read this, because they don't give the slightest hint at any Direct Email addresses on the Apple.com website. (What's with that anyway?)
    So what do I do now? RESTORING IS NOT AN OPTION.

  • Stuck or dead pixels

    I'm seeing around 5 dead pixels on my screen is this fixable or do I have to get it replaced and is it under warrenty I know that you can fix it on laptops but since the ipod touch has a hard glass screen you can't really fix it I've only had mine for 2 days

    I spoke with several engineers at Sony and Samsung about this last month and they thought it was hysterical that people believed these apps would work.
    The pixel may come back coincidentally but it is not due to flashing the LCD or some alternating color voodoo, or pressing on the LCD.
    Another Internet myth that continues to propagate. The engineers in fact said all you are really doing is accelerating the decay in brightness/life of your screen running these silly apps in proportion to how long, continually you run them.
    And definitely don't try the "press firmly on the stuck pixel with an pencil eraser" rubbish either - you'll have a nice dark spot around the area to enjoy for your efforts. There are no magic fixes for dead pixels according to the guys who design and build them.

  • CGContextDrawImage camera app crashes

    Hello All,
    My first post on this forum. I am trying to obtain an image using the AVCaptureSession. I followed this tutorial http://www.benjaminloulier.com/posts/2-ios4-and-direct-access-to-the-camera. I am creating uiimage from image ref and then obtaining pixels from that uiimage. But the app crashes after sometime (less than 30s). I tried analyzing using Leaks and that too crashes. Using logs I found the app crashes just before the line  CGContextDrawImage(context, rect, image1.CGImage); Do you guys have any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong. I also see Memory Allocation errors a few seconds before the app crashes. Please help.
    Please find the code below:
    // Create a UIImage from sample buffer data
    - (UIImage *) imageFromSampleBufferCMSampleBufferRef) sampleBuffer
    lock = @"YES";
    CVImageBufferRef imageBuffer = CMSampleBufferGetImageBuffer(sampleBuffer);
    // Lock the base address of the pixel buffer
    CVPixelBufferLockBaseAddress(imageBuffer, 0);
    // Get the number of bytes per row for the pixel buffer
    void *baseAddress = CVPixelBufferGetBaseAddress(imageBuffer);
    // Get the number of bytes per row for the pixel buffer
    size_t bytesPerRow = CVPixelBufferGetBytesPerRow(imageBuffer);
    // Get the pixel buffer width and height
    size_t width = CVPixelBufferGetWidth(imageBuffer);
    size_t height = CVPixelBufferGetHeight(imageBuffer);
    // Create a device-dependent RGB color space
    CGColorSpaceRef colorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB();
    size_t bufferSize = CVPixelBufferGetDataSize(imageBuffer);
    // Create a Quartz direct-access data provider that uses data we supply.
    NSData *data = [NSData dataWithBytes:baseAddress length:bufferSize];
    CGDataProviderRef dataProvider = CGDataProviderCreateWithCFData((__bridge CFDataRef)data);
    CGImageRef quartzImage = CGImageCreate(width, height, 8, 32, bytesPerRow,
                  colorSpace, kCGImageAlphaNoneSkipFirst | kCGBitmapByteOrder32Little,
                  dataProvider, NULL, true, kCGRenderingIntentDefault);
    CGDataProviderRelease(dataProvider);
    // Unlock the pixel buffer
    CGColorSpaceRelease(colorSpace);
    // Create an image object from the Quartz image
    UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:quartzImage];
    // Release the Quartz image
    CGImageRelease(quartzImage);
    CVPixelBufferUnlockBaseAddress(imageBuffer,0);
    baseAddress = nil;
    [data  release];
    lock = @"NO";
    return(image);

            CGContextRef context = CGBitmapContextCreate(bitmapData, image1.size.width, image1.size.height, 8, bytesPerRow,colourSpace,kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedFirst|kCGBitmapByteOrder32Big);
            CGColorSpaceRelease(colourSpace);
            CGContextDrawImage(context, rect, image1.CGImage);
            unsigned char* pixels = (unsigned char*)CGBitmapContextGetData(context);
            totalLuminance = 0.0;
            for(int p=0; p<image1.size.width*image1.size.height*4; p+=4)
                totalLuminance += pixels[p]*0.3 + pixels[p+1]*0.59 + pixels[p+2]*0.11;
            totalLuminance /= (image1.size.height * image1.size.width);
            pixels = nil;
            bitmapData = nil;
            [image1 release];
        CGContextRelease(context);
            //image1 = nil;
            //totalLuminance = [n floatValue];                   //Calculate the total luminance.
            float f = [del.camcont.slider value];
            float total = totalLuminance * f;
            NSString *ns = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Lux : %0.2f", total];
            NSLog(@"slider = %f",f);
            NSLog(@"totlaluminance = %f",totalLuminance);
            NSLog(@"%@",ns);
            //NSString *ns = [NSString initWithFormat:@"Lux : %0.2f", total];
            [del.camcont.lux setText:ns];//Display the total luminance.
            self.stillImage = nil;
            //[self.stillImage release];
             ns = nil;
            //n = nil;
            //del = nil;
        @catch (NSException *exception) {
            NSLog(@"main: Caught %@: %@", [exception name], [exception reason]);

    The error happens in the Calculate method which uses the Image retrieved from the AVCaptureSession ImageBuffer to do some calculations. Calculate method is called every second directly from the function which gets the still image.
    A few seconds later I get Memory Allocation Error at line:
    for(int p=0; p<image1.size.width*image1.size.height*4; p+=4)
       totalLuminance += pixels[p]*0.3 + pixels[p+1]*0.59 + pixels[p+2]*0.11;
    And then after a few iterations crashes at the line
    CGContextDrawImage(context, rect, image1.CGImage);
    Can someone please guide me on how I can make sure I am releasing the memory allocated to objects properly.
    Thanks

  • Example of Aperture dead pixel problem

    A lot of people have been complaining about green pixels in their converted output. I noticed a pixel in the RAW image as rendered within Aperture and went in for a closer look. It's more like a dead pixel. I've put up crops of an image mangnified at 300%:
    Aperture:
    http://www.pbase.com/chrobb/image/53050269
    Photoshop CS2:
    http://www.pbase.com/chrobb/image/53050270
    Make sure you're looking at the "Original" size of the file (located at the bottom of the webpage)
    This is a pretty glaring example of some major processing problems with CoreImage. I'm going to send a bug report to Apple.
    G5 1.8G SP, 1.5M RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    I think this was one of the biggest concerns that I had with Aperture: the reliance on OSX code to decode the RAW files. If Apple were to re-write their RAW file processor or need to tweak it to fix this bug, it would likely need to come in the form of an update to the operating system. A couple of problems with that:
    1) Sometimes, because of other problems with an update, you might not want to update your OS. Say, an update fixes something in Aperture, but breaks Mail. Which is more important?
    2) OS updates are likely to be released more slowly than application updates. This may not be the case since Apple may release Aperture product updates even slower, but there are a whole slew of considerations that developers need to take into account when getting something merged into the much larger OSX train.
    Maybe Apple can release small RAW updates that only affect the portion of the OS that deals with RAW. I seem to reall them doing that with other apps. It remains to be seen how well and how quickly they respond to these issues. I know a lot of people are probably waiting to see how responsive Apple is before entrusting their library to a proprietary application.

  • IPhone Liquid Submersion Sensor and Dead Pixels

    Today I went down to my carrier HQ. (Singtel, Singapore).
    I went to spoke to the person at the iPhone servicing counter.
    He told me that my iPhone Liquid Submersion Sensor has been triggered and it's now out of warranty.
    And my purpose is there, to have my iPhone exchange as my home button is getting unresponsive at times.
    And he told me that this is under Apple policy. When I purchase the phone, the salesperson didn't even told me about the policy and I wasn't aware of that.
    So the main point is my iPhone Liquid Submersion Sensor and I didn't even drop it into any liquid, I don't know why but it's just unfair for me as an end user.
    Question here, will playing apps like Ocarina activate the iPhone LSS? Only my bottom LSS is triggered, the top one isn't.
    Also to recall, at the point when I'm buying my iPhone 3G last year, out of the box there is already a dead pixel and the person refuse to change a new set for me.
    I'm in need of an iPhone urgently, anybody can tell me what to do?

    Ocarina could trigger the water sensor since you could spit into the dock connector while blowing into the mic.

  • AddPrinter.app Crash

    Hello, i'm having this problem where I can't add any new printers because AddPrinter.app crashes "Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE etc...".
    I imagine there's nothing to it but to reinstall the application, but is there any way of doing that without reinstalling the whole system? (i've looked through the hidden files on the install disk and there isn't any obvious printer installation).
    Otherwise could someone send me a copy of the app please (/system/library/coreservices/AddPrinter), my mailbox is [email protected]
    By the way I've tried all the built-in UNIX repair functions/permissions etc..., and I have a backup of my entire system on an external HD, but i've obviously backed-up the corrupt application seeing as restarting on the external drive doesn't help.

    Thanks, so I checked the MD5 sum, and it appears you're right, the app isn't corrupted. So it's obviously comming from somewhere else. Anyway here's a full crash report:
