24" Dell (2407WFP) to replace 20" Formac as second screen to a 23" ACD?

Hi,
I currently have a 23" ACD as my primary screen and a Formac 20" (1600x1200) as my secondary screen.
I'm thinking of replacing the Formac with a Dell 2407, which will give me the following advantages:
1. Bigger previews of the currently selected image im Aperture or Photoshop
2. Ability to rotate to Portrait
3. lots of inputs for my old Xbox etc for some quality gaming time when my other half is watching telly.
2. & 3. are nice and the main reason for not getting another 23" ACD.
What do people think? Any reason why I should have the Dell as primary and the ACD as secondary? This would lose me the ability to rotate the screen with Aperture's selected image on it but I guess I could compensate by going into full-screen mode and rotating.

How good is the older 23" display?
I gather there are DVI and ADC versions - any difference between the two, other than the cable? I have a DVI to ADC adapter if necessary - my G5 has ADC and DVI but my new Mac Pro will have 2 DVI.

Dell 2407WFP MacBook Pro Power-Save

I've just picked up a Late 2011 MacBook Pro 13" and attempted to connect it to my Dell 2407WFP monitor, via DVI with a genuine Mini DisplayPort to DVI connector.
The monitor is working well as an extended desktop, however, when the system attempts to put the monitor(s) to sleep, the Dell gets stuck in a loop. It shows the "going into power-save mode" repeatedly, but never gets there.
The monitor does seem to correctly go into power-save when the system is shut-down.
I've read some similar threads, but none referring to this model.
Any help would be much appreciated

My Dell 2407wfp works fine with VGA, but I couldn't get it to work with DVI. I narrowed the problem down to a faulty MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter. The Dynex brand one was not working properly and kept causing the monitor to attempt to enter power save mode. (The Dynex adapter would get warm even when no cable was plugged into it!) I bought a genuine Apple adapter at Best Buy and now it works fine. If that doesn't help try resetting PRAM (command-option-P-R on start up).

Color Profile Keep Resetting (Dell 2407WFP)

I have an issue with OS X where I set the color profile for my external monitor on my MacBook Pro (a Dell 2407WFP) to "Apple RGB" and after a day or so, the operating system resets the profile back to Dell's own "Dell 2407WFP" color profile. I have tried deleting the Dell profile and it reappears later. The color when using the Dell profile are not anywhere near correct but when using "Apple RGB", it looks as it should.
So, is there a way to ensure it never uses the Dell ICC profile or is there a way to stop OS X from changing it back to that one.
I should note that I'm not logging out or restarting my computer when this change happens, it just happens after a while.

I am looking into buying the 24" Dell 2407WFP monitor. I need to know if my Powerbook will work with it. It has DVI and VGA inputs but I need to know if my 15 Inch Powerbook will work with 1920x1200 Pixels @ 60 Hz.

DELL 2407WFP 24" with Macbook Pro - Need Help!

I just bought a new 2407WFP and am planning on using it with my Macbook Pro. When I connect it (using VGA to DVI conversion into the Macbook Pro), I select the maximum resolution setting for the Dell monitor, however, it just mirrors with resolution of my Macbook Pros's screen. The Dell 2407WFP's screen resolution comes out having the exact same workspace as my Macbook Pro, just bigger. This is not what I want at all. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

The original reply is correct. I do this with my MBP and the 23" Cinema Display all the time. Put your computer to sleep/ close the lid. Make sure the power cable is plugged in, as well as your keyboard and mouse, and the display you want to use. If you have Bluetooth devices it will still work. Simply tap a key on the keyboard and the computer will wake up, sense that the lid is closed, and make the external display your sole & primary display. I use bluetooth devices myself and they work fine. I've even formatted my computer before while attached to the external display and it will sense the display/keyboard/mouse on first startup and work with them. It's wonderfully simple.
If there are USB ports on your Dell monitor then there should also be a USB connector for your computer on the cable. Essentially it's a USB hub, and should work fine provided the USB cable from the screen is attached to your computer. VGA & DVI do not provide USB signals.

MacPro, ATI Radeon X1900 XT + dual Dell 2407WFP

Hi all,
I have problems running 2 Dell 2407WFP displays in the highest resolution (1920x1200).
I have no problem running 1 display using DVI.
When I add the 2nd display, with DVI, it does not detect a signal. When I change the connection of the 2nd display from DVI to VGA (with adapter) it works. However, now the maximum resolution is 1024x768)
How do I set this system up so that both diplays will show 1920x1200?

Does it make a difference which way display you connect to which port as you should be able to use DVI with both displays. Also, check you cables. Make sure they both work. Also, try the usual round of resets like PRAM…

My son has a 3 month old laptop with a touchscreen. Unfortunately he cracked the screen. The actual picture is fine, but the screen cover is cracked. After much searching we found the replacement cost…..all in is some $500. I am trying to find out if the screen can be replaced with a non touch screen. This will save him $250. I cannot seem to get the answer from HP, despite having been a client for many years.
He ordered the HP Pavilion dv6t Select Edition customizable Notebook PC. The product number is XC102AV.
It also shows a product number ww146av . The connector is on the bottom left of the screen.
I am pretty sure that the part number, per the manual, is 631019-001
I had been getting helpful replies from “Erico”, but have not heard back on this issue.
