24 fps project transfer to PAL Digibeta tape

I just did an advertising project that is to be projected in cinemas and beamed on television. The project was shot and finished on 24fps in 2k resolution. Now we are making copies for release. What would be the best way to make PAL copies that need to go out on Digibeta? PAL runs at 25fps and a straight transfer will shorten the project.

Go to a post facility that has a Terranex or other high end standards converter and have them output the 24fps sequence to a 25fps tape.

  • 30 fps projects automatically become 25 fps when export a DVD from share menu

I shoot some video at 30 fps.  I made a project setting to match that.
My 30 fps projects becomes 25 fps when I make DVDs from FCPX share menu.
I thought it would make 29.97 DVDs but somehow FCPX makes PAL DVDs.
I tried different settings: all 23.98, 24, 29.97, 60 fps projects give me 29.97 DVDs when I share from FCPX.
Only 30 fps projects does not give me 29.97 but 25.
Do you know why that happen?

I am bit confused.  It is not easy to make 29.97 out of 30 fps yet let FCPX handle the frame rate change?
Of course we should have the right fps setting when we shoot.  I guess it is still best option at this stage to set FCP project 29.97 and let it do the math.
If, though, I am okay to have my source video slow down tiny bit, then using Compressor for frame-to-frame conversion will assure the best quality?

    Dear All,
We have New Plant created 2000.
1000-nm3-abc25 has been created in 1000 Plant earlier and now we will in process of transfer of this project to 2000 Plant.
We have Open PR/PO, Advances, Stock, CWIP etc on our Projects. Almost 90% of the Budget has been utilized.
Please provide stepwise procedures which addresses the complete activities involved in this process.
    Regards

    Hi,
As per me this will not be possible.
Because you have Open PR/PO, Advances, Stock, CWIP etc on our Projects. Almost 90% of the Budget has been utilized.
In SAP,I don't think so any procedure will be available for such kind of Project transfer from Plant to Plant.

  • Convert 24 fps to 25 fps project.

I have accidentally made some recordings in 24 fps.
The need for a film which should also be on television - in a 25 fps project.
So the problem is that I have both 24 fps and 25 fps in the same project. it gives strobe flashes. Is there a way I can avoid it?

Personally, I'd say you're massively hosed...
You could try optical flow retiming - available in Motion/Shake/Compressor to generate new clips with the proper frame rate. But that takes a lot of time. Can you post an example of the flashes you're talking about?

  • Changing "material status" via "project transfer"

    HI,
I known that I can change the "material status" by transferring an item to a specific stock Locator that I already defined.
Is it possible to change the material status via project transfer?
For example my item's status is "active" and it was assigned to a project named "ACTV_PROJECT" I transfer this Item
to a random locator whose project is "HOLD_PROJECT". while I perform this transaction, item status will become "HOLD" (Hold is a status that I already defined)
    Thanks for your
    Help
    Ceyhun

    Hi
I assume you refer to Item Status Control.
You can update the item status code using the designated form Item Status. This will automaticlly update the values of the following attributes -
    BOM Allowed
    • Build in WIP
    • Customer Orders Enabled
    • Internal Orders Enabled
    • Invoice Enabled
    • Transactable
    • Purchasable
    • Stockable
Project Transfer is a inventory transaction, that moves certain quantity of the item from one project locator to another project locator. Such transaction is not changing the item status.

  • Will a Final Cut Pro X Trial project transfer over to a bought, full version?

I recently downloaded the Final Cut Pro X Trial and started on a project to see how it works. I like the software. If I buy it from the App store will I be able to continue to work on the project that I have started in the trial version? Will the project transfer over to the full FCPX? Or will I have to start the project over from scratch?
I'm hoping, of course, that I won't have to start it over, and it just transfers over or opens up automatically in the full, purchased version.
    Thanks.

The full version will open the trial version project.

  • 1 hour and 2 minutes on PAL DV tape always = 52 minutes on Hard Drive, why?

Every time I copy my I hour DV tapes to my firewire hard drive and it finishes, it always says "About 52 minutes of video was recorded". If this was due to dropped frames I could understand but it always says the same thing. If frames are being dropped is there anywhere to check it on iMovie 08?
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Hi Bengt
Thanks for your advice but I did close and reopen iMovie 08 many times and the camera is a DV tape camera and can only record and output in PAL.
I will try again but I have checked the settings over and over again.
Are there any other places to check the settings other than under iMovie 08 preferences and Project properties?
I sent feedback to Apple just in case that helps.
    Thanks

  • NTSC Project Export to PAL?

I have a project that I edited in Premiere and a DVD project designed in Encore CS6 - all in NTSC. A client in the UK needs a copy in PAL. What is the best way to approach this? Encore does not allow me to change the standard in Settings or Prefs. The DVD project is made up of mostly Dynamically linked Premiere sequences, shot and edited in NTSC

    moccamaximum wrote:
If your DVD is not mulitlingual (Because FLV can have no multiple audiotracks) and you only want to show the final product to your client, without the requirement that it has absolutely to be played back in a 10+ years old PAL-only Player, you could always go for Webexport(Flash).
If you have never tried it before: at best quality it pretty much is indistinguishable from the real deal.
Flash excport is not a DVD and is not supported on APple devices either so not a great answer. Likewise, this will not play on any DVD players either.
    Alex DeJesus wrote:
Sorry mocca, this is WAY over my head. I did not realize I needed PAL menus, only PAL video assets. I thought that if I created an Adobe project in PAL that Encore would encode the menus accordingly.
Neil, I am able to export PAL from an NTSC sequence in Premiere. Or I can create a PAL sequence and cut and paste from the NTSC sequence already edited - without timeline markers, though. This is pretty frustrating stuff to keep track of. And I have no idea it will playback in England.
    Hi Alex.
I understand your pain, believe me - and if your client is specifically asking for PAL, then that is what you have to deliver.
Exporting a PAL asset from an NTSC sequence is indeed possible in PPro, but be very very careful as the frame rate differs from the NTSC, and you will have to check playback very carefully to make sure you are not just dropping frames which could result in twitchy playback. (NTSC is 30fps, PAL is 25 - all sorts of room for catastrophe there)
There are settings in the render dialogue that can help with scaling (your footage will be scaled as well) and different render frame rates compared to sequence frame rates.
Just tick the "Maximum render quality" and "Maximum depth" options & cross fingers & toes.
Personally I have had much more success with After Effects than PPro for this type of work - the thing to remember in AE conversions is to be absolutely sure ytou set the option in t he render dialogue to "composition length" instead of "Whole timeline" or whatever it is called (memory fails me right now) or else your run time will change. To explain what I mean, we recently had to create a title where there were 5 film clips, one in NTSC, 2 in PAL and 2 more in 4 and 12 fps stop-frame animations. Without the "composition length" option ticked the thing simply ran out a hell of a lot faster than it should have done but with that option checked, AE just created new frames and the results were great.
Menus also have PAL resolution of course, as well as the different PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio) earlier discussed. Scaling these will ruin text in mnore cases than not & t he best approach is to rebuild all menus from scratch - it is actually quite simples in PhotoShop - just open your original NTSC screen, create a new PAL menu template from the presets given and then (after turning off SPHL layers) merge or flatten the original NTSC screen, and then drag the background onto the blank PAL menu, hit CTRL-T (make it a scalable object) and resize to fit your new screen - you may well need to fill in the blanks - and then just drop your button layers in & tweak.
Final option is to check with client & ask them why they need PAL - which I have to congfess raises one question in my mind:
WHen you shot the footage, had you been asked to supply NTSC or PAL originally? If they asked for NTSC, then you should charge them for the reworking to PAL.
However, if they wanted just PAL in the first place then you have to bite the bullet on this one.

  • No video when trying to capture PAL dv tape w/Sony HVR-V1U camera

    Hello there,
Im attempting to Log & Capture a DV tape with "DV SP PAL" content from a Sony HVR-V1U camera using an iLink FireWire.
I have deck control, timecode, and audio but no video. Instead I see bars for video w/the ominous "preview disabled" band. When I attempt "Capture Now," I receive the follwoing message "this operation could not be completed as there is no video." For Easy Setup, Im currently in "Format: PAL; Use: DV-PAL FireWire Basic" (ive other combinations, and again best I can get is deck control but no video).
The DV PAL tape plays fine in the camera's LCD screen. Also I had no issue capturing HDV NTSC tapes using the same Sony HVR-V1U camera.
I've checked my settings and the usual obvious stuff but no luck.
If anyone has any ideas on what Im doing wrong or things I could try it would be much appreciated.
    Many Thanks,
    Sam

are you sure this camera is fully pal compatible?  Some cameras/decks will play back certain formats but will not output via firewire.  Can you shoot PAL with this camera?  If not, I'd guess you can't use it to capture PAL via firewire.  Might check the camera manual.

  • Is there a way to convert an existing NTSC project to a PAL project?

I searched the Encore CS3 manual and all four Encore forums before starting this thread.  Apologies if I missed the answer.
In Encore CS3, apparently one is only allowed to specify NTSC or PAL when starting a new project.  If I try File->Project Settings on an existing project, I can change the Authoring Mode between DVD and Blu-ray, but the Television Standard edit box is grayed out and cannot be changed.
I often need to release projects in both NTSC and PAL standards, and it is a royal PITA to have to start a new PAL project, import the exact same assets as for my NTSC project, then rebuild all my menus, buttons, timelines, chapters, etc.
Can the conversion be done?  Am I missing an obvious method?  If not, why is it that the same assets can only be bound to a given standard when importing?

I understand your concern. I don't know for sure yet myself as the client had yet to mail the discs to Italy last time I talked to them.
However, I would check to see if the people on the forum are saying they won't work because they made a mistake in changing the parameters in ifoedit or if everything was correct and it still didn't play. Also, once you make the discs, even if everything is correct, they certainly won't play in American DVD players that aren't multi-region.
Also, ifoedit is a really simple free program you can download. If you google it you should be able to find it quickly.
From the quick look at the link I gave you, it looked like a rudimentary explanation of how to do it. I need to find for you the web site I found when I did this a couple months ago. I know I saved the info somewhere on my hard drive. I will try to find it later tonight after my kids go to sleep, ha!
Yes, the files you need to change are the ones that are created when you export to folder in Encore. The .VOBs and the .IFO extensioned files (that you open and edit in the program). After you change the IFO files, you can take those files including the .VOBs into a dvd burning program like nero or roxio and burn a dvd-video (not data).
If you have to change the language of the menus and all that, than you'll have to re-author the dvd in encore anyway you may as well do it through encore.

  • NTSC project  modified to PAL project is this possible?

I have a project that i am working with that has 3 menus, 7 tracks & 17 scripts.
there are two DVD's in the "set" each one is the same... just different video tracks... essentially its a 2 disc set that i need one version of NTSC (done) and one PAL version.
I have created the NTSC project first, but before I create the PAL versions i wanted to know if anyone had come up with a way of just replacing the project assets & video assets to PAL?
I have tried removing all the video off all the tracks and deleting them from the project (this works with no menus & no scripts to convert to PAL) Next I figured it was the menus so I changed out the video assets of the menus and transitions to PAL.mov's but they are lower quality and the project still will not switch to PAL.
any ideas before i recreate all of those scripts and menus in PAL?
as a side note just to make sure... Dolby files do not matter right? I dont think i need to make PAL versions of audio.. i couldnt find a way to do it anyway... just wanted to double check that thought.
    Thank you.
    -bryan

if anyone is wondering... the answer is no... rebuild it from scratch.

  • Transfer of mini-DV tapes from Panasonic NV-GS120 to MacBook Pro via FireWire port (9-pin)

I am new to Mac and love it. I would like to transfer my old mini-DV tapes from Panasonic NV-GS120 to my MacBook Pro via FireWire port (9-pin), but am not sure which port to use on the video camera. Reading from the top on the Panasonic video camera there are three options: a "mini-usb" port, a "remote/mic (plug in power)" [not likely] and finally a "A/V out phones" jack entry [which I use for viewing the tapes on the TV screen via the jack cable ending up in a red, yellow and white cable to plug into TV.
I have read Bengt Wärleby's excellent instructions and am ready to buy the FireWire cable (9-pin in one end - Mac), but I am not sure if it is the mini-usb or jack-stick exit of the video camera. Or, indeed, if there is talk about an external A/V box needed to decode and transfer the digital tapes to iMovie on the Mac.
Any clarification is highly appreciated. Thanks for all suggestions.
    JLens

The port you're looking for is the DV Port (in your manual it's marked as control component #55). I looked up your camera and it does have it. That's the port where the firewire should fit. Hope to have helped you.

  • Question about transfer from Mini DV Tape

How many GB's does the transfer of a 1 hr mini dv tape to Final Cut Pro takes?
    As a single 1-hour-long clip

Hmmm… I'm glancing at two charts I have that are rundowns of formats and their resolutions, bit depths, storage requirements and other technical data. One says 11.25 GB, and another says 13.0 GB! Neither clarify if they include audio data in that or not, either way the information is conflicting.

  • Converting a 1080p 23.976 fps project to 720p60 for broadcast

How do you convert a 23.976 progressive frame rate into a 59.94 progressive frame rate? Is there an after effects pulldown option that is not intended for interlaced 29.97 fps, but for progressive HD formats like 720p60?

    Hi Jim,
thanks for the info thats great ! the footage is just vision and wont matter if its slower which is good, i was concerned about any NTSC / PAL issues with the 25p stuff - but would i be correct in saying that as these files are raw and from the Epic / Scarlet that they are not either NTSC or PAL until they are outputted that way in post? Unlike say a a Canon 5D where you assign either NTSC or PAL within the camera?
    cheers,
    Tim
