24" iMac starts with a strange screen and freezes. HELP!

My iMac froze and I restarted it. Now when I start it got weirdturquoise stuff on each side of the screen. It does show the apple logoand the loading thingy but after that they disappear it freezes againand nothing happens.
Also tried booting from DVD and this is what happens
I have no idea whats going on.. Could it be the video card?
Any idea?

Your machine is suffering from a Kernel Panic. Many KP's are RAM related however they can also be caused by software or other hardware therefore they can be tricky to track down. RAM issues can be:
1. Incorrect RAM, have you recently upgraded?
2. Failed RAM, yes RAM can and does fail
3. RAM that isn't well seated.
All of the above take some methodical testing but are simple to track down. I would strongly recommend you begin studying:
Kernel Panics, Mac OS X 10.6 Help: If “You need to restart your computer” appears, Tutorial: Avoiding and eliminating Kernel panics. If you cannot figure it out you need to take the machine into an AASP or Apple Store immediately. If you can get the machine to boot navigate to:
/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports locate the latest KP and post the complete crash log on these forums and we may be able to assist you.

I have a 24" imac, it is white and it is from the first year they used the intel chip. When I power it up I get a black blank screen and then the white light on the lower right side of the console flashes on and off. I hear the disk drive spin (I put the 10.4 install disk in ) and it does nothing. How do I get the disk out. I even tried holding down the mouse button at start up and that doesn't work.
I tried to remedy this myself by resetting pram. I have taken out memory and put it back in. I have been able to get it running twice before by taking out memory and putting it back in but it only worked for a little while and then I turned it off and went to turn it back on and same problem again. Is this a logic board problem or something else. I think I read if it was the logic board the disk drive wouldn't work but I hear it spinning.
Can anyone help me?

That has all the classic signs of unseated, improperly seated or bad RAM.
Laying the iMac face down on a soft towel and reseat the module(s) by pressing real hard on each one with both thumbs, then closing the ejector clips and replacing the cover.

Try starting your iMac with the original DVD that came with the machine then launch disk utility to repair your hard drive.

White Macbook has delayed start with a blue screen and will not wake when it goes to sleep

I have a late 2006 MacBook that I recently bought used. When I got it I was experiencing very long boot times. It would have the apple logo then go into a blue screen for about 5 minutes before loading to the OS. Nothing I did fixed the issue. I was told it was not a hdd or ram issue, but maybe a logic board issue. I then purchased a new hdd since that was the concensus online. After installing it I got the it to load right away when it booted from the install disc. However, after the OS was installed, it gave me the same problem. Also, when trying to update to Lion it would freeze on the apple logo with the spinning dots. I did not try to install Lion on the new hdd as I wanted to use the machine and it was working with minor inconviences. I then read about resetting the system by taking off battery, holding power for ten seconds, then replacing battery and restarting. This actually fixed the problem. I was able to install Lion and everything was working perfectly. I then replaced the topcase becuase the one on the computer was scratched and dirty. After I did that I was unable to load anything. It would not go into lion or anything else. I fiddled with the command lines and nothing. I had someone else who spoke unix fiddle with it and I was finally able to get it to boot from the install disc. After doing a clean install, from erasing and creating a new partition, I am back to square one with a long boot time and not waking from sleep. This time the battery trick is not working. I have done the PRAM reset and disc repair and permission repair. All to no avail. I know that it has the capacity to work because it did. Please help me, I really want this to work. Thanks.

It seems thst the MBP is not recognizing the internal HDD. Look at this link and probably the section 'Start from your Mac OS X Install disc; use Disk Utility' will be applicable:

PopcornTime starts with a black screen and does not load

I installed PopcornTime from the AUR and it does not seem to load. When I launch the application, it simply loads a black screen and does not move from there. When I launch the application from the terminal, I get this output.

It seems as though quite a few files are missing, though the yaourt built the application just fine.

I had the same issue with the git version. Install the stable version and it should work fine

Yellow lines and some purple around the screen, and freezing, help?!

hi i have an iMac G4 First generation, and lately, the computer has been malfunctioning in the strangest way;
its been either crashing and freezing up, OR invaded by yellow and orange lines all around the screen... i tried a clean install of system software and still no luck at all. i took out the extra ram that was in there, and still hasnt worked. yellow and orange still appears around the screen, and sometimes, the mouse seems to have black bars forming a square shape over it.

My G4 starts with grayish/silver screen and icons

I changed the display to thousand or millions of colors and it changes back to blueish color for one second but then immeidatley goes back to silverish/gray.. Everything turns that color. Destop, icons, etc. If I logout to another username I have the correct screen up (the traditional blueish color). please help!! what setting must I change back to, to make it stay in the traditional blue screen.. I can't edit photos in that silver/negative looking color screen!! I just installed the Tiger.

Nokia N70 starts with a white Screen.

Hi all,
My nokia N70 starts with a white Screen and does not go any further. It does not make any sound while starting. When i connect it to the PC it is not detected by the PC while the phone is on showing a white screen. I have tried performing a Hard reset using the *3 and the green key but it is not formatting either. I also tried updating the software but as the PC is not recognising the mobile connection the updater is not working either. I am using the latest PC suite.
Please help...

Remove the battery for at least 5 minutes and then replace and see if that makes any difference. Also try removing the memory card.
If the above two don't work then try these.Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
First try these
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
*#7370# - Reformat your phone
If still not working
Then try the "3 finger deep reset". With the phone powered off, depress and hold these three keys simultaneously "*" "3" "green phone" and then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping the three keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.
This should ONLY be done if the device doesn't power up normally anymore and it wipes everything in the Phone memory that is not part of the ROM.

Don't worry, this is probably just Verbose Mode. It's perfectly harmless. If you're not specifically invoking it, than it's probably down to an unwanted setting in NVRAM. See this article on resetting NVRAM if it continues to bother you.

That is another problem not related to the Mac OS X version you are trying to use.
Three beeps at startup means you have a bad ram module in the computer. Did you install the ram or did it come from another owner this way? The first problem you need to solve is the bad ram.
When the iMac starts, go to the apple left side of the menu bar, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Memory and see what the report is on the memory...does the iMac report all memory modules that have been installed as OK or does it show bad memory? If there is not any information, you then need to remove the memory modules and restart one at a time to see which is bad.
On the bottom of the screen there should be a small door that you can remove with a small screw driver. You need to lay the iMac flat, disconnect the power cord, remove that small door and remove the memory modules. You can then put two in (if it has four) and see if it starts without the beeps. Do that with each module so you find out which is bad. Once you know the bad memory, you can buy a new module, just like the ones installed, so the iMac starts without the beeps.
Next, you cannot use a DVD for another computer for your iMac unless it is from one that is identical to yours. So, you need to talk to Apple and have them send the DVD for your particular iMac.
