24" LED display: height without attached stand?

I'm interested in the height of the 24" LED display, not including the attached stand. I'm considering this display for a confined space, using the optional VESA mounting adapter and a wall-mount.
Apple lists the height of the display as 18.84" but I suspect that includes the stand.
Would anyone with this display mind measuring its height, not including the stand?
Thanks!

Excellent - thank you!
I ended up calling Apple's online store people. They didn't have specs on file, so they found one to measure and gave me an "about 15 inches" measurement as relayed to the person on the phone. So it's good to get a real number from a real customer.
One interesting tidbit is they said it vents in from the bottom and out from the top, so to be careful with mounting. Shouldn't be a problem here but good to know.
Thanks again.

    LCD Screen only: 52cm x 32cm (20.5" x 12.5"), 61cm diagonal (24", of course).

  • What are the actual dimensions of the new Thunderbolt Display without the stand (e.g., when using a VESA mount)?

I need to use the new Thunderbolt Display without the stand on a VESA mount, but before I order it I need to make sure it will fit height-wise in the allotted space.

The ThunderBolt display specs page has the same sizes listed as the 27" LED Cinema Display specs page (web archive).  I just measured my Cinema Display for you and the height of the display itself without the stand is 15 5/8".  However, you will need some additional space at the bottom for air flow intake.  These displays get hot and need proper ventilation so do not block the vents on the bottom.  Also the bottom vents are where the speakers are.
    Hope this helps.

  • Best stand for MacBook Pro and Apple LED Display

I am buying a MacBook Pro and Apple LED Display tomorrow. I want to have a two display setup, similar to what I have seen in the Apple Store. I believe they used a Griffin Elevator. I want to make sure of two things: that the stand is sturdy enough so that my laptop won't slide off of it and that I can adjust the stand/monitor so that the tops are level (so that moving my mouse from the laptop to monitor and back is smooth - i.e. the cursor doesn't jump up or down.
I like the fact that I can use this setup to go mobile very quickly, but what about my direct Ethernet connection. I wish there were a stand/dock such that I could hook everything up to it and then just undock the entire machine.

How did you solve the problem of closing the Macbook Pro when it was connected to the display and preventing it from going to sleep?
I am thinking about buying one. When I went to the local Apple Store the tech guys told me that it would be necessary to keep the laptop open slightly when connecting it to the display. They said it was something to do with cooling. It didn't sound right to me. I'm sure that Apple didn't solely intend for the Cinema Displays to be used by Mac Pro and Mac Mini users.
There must be a simple way to "dock" or connect a Mac laptop (Macbook Pro or Macbook) to an Apple Cinema display or any other display with DVI input while keeping the laptop closed with an external keyboard and mouse connected and still be able to use the SuperDrive.
I'm very curious about how you handled this.
    All the best for now,
    Ambrose

  • 27inch iMac plate to raise it level with a 27inch Thunderbolt LED Display?

    Hi,
I'm in the market for a new 27inch iMac and a 27inch Thunderbolt LED display as a second monitor. Looking that the specs I note that the height of the iMac is 16mm less than that of the LED display.
That being said, I'm not keen to put something cheesy under the iMac (like a magazine) to raise it to the right level. Does anyone know of a plate/stand that might help align the two? Wallmounting is not an option - these need to sit on a desk.
I hope there's something cool to keep with the clean crisp look of the Apple gear. Otherwise I've found a place that sells aluminium plates at 16mm thickness (+/- 2mm tolerance) which may be my fallback plan.
    Any advice/ideas/thoughts welcome.
    Cheers,
    Red.

Yes it will work. This is an answer from a Genius at the Apple Store in London:
I've contacted Engineering and they've informed me that daisy-chaining the new Cinema Display is possible up to two displays on 15-inch MacBook Pros, 17-inch MacBook Pros and iMacs. This, unfortunately, rules out the Mac mini as well as the 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The marketing material on the website will be updated soon to communicate this.

  • Connecting Both Mac Mini and MacBook Pro to single LED display

Is it possible to dock two mac computers to the same monitor, and have the ability to switch between each computer on the fly?
I am trying to dock both a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini to the same 24" Apple LED display. I would like it to be as close to a "switch" solution as possible, where it takes only a single button push to change between which computer is being displayed on the monitor. I am used to a PC, where I can hook two computers up to the same monitor, and change the input in the monitor to switch between the two computers that are hooked up to it.
Since there are not any buttons on my monitor, and I am not used to Mac's yet, I am not sure how to easily switch? I was told I could do it when I bought it, but now the help desk is closed....

I was hoping there was a better option. I have the wireless keyboard and mouse, and the two computers. I doubt there is a way to switch the wireless keyboard/mouse without disabling and reconnecting the bluetooth connection (and I really do not think there is a KVM switch for bluetooth devices yet)...
That being said, I was hoping to continue to control the laptop with the laptop keyboard, and the mini with the wireless devices, and NOT go the KVM switch route... I was hoping there was a way to have the mini and the macbook both connected, and either push a button or access a menu to switch between the two...
So am I hearing that this is not a viable option? I need to invest in a potentially expensive KVM switch, or run one of the two computers remotely from the other?
The reason I am frustrated is that I was told when making the purchase that it was very much possible (by multiple employees over the phone and in store). I was also told by the tech people over the phone that everything I needed to do so would be in the box (no extra cables or anything needing purchase).

  • Macbook to LED display: help me save my battery!

I have a brand new macbook pro 13-inch, and i have it connected to an apple LED display (the one that came out right before the new thunderbolt led display). There are 3 connections from the macbook to the display. One goes into the power supply port  one into the DVI or thunderbolt port, and the other into the USB.
I am wondering why i can't just remove the first one (the power supply) without my external monitor turning off?
Why should that happen, when the monitor has its own power supply coming from a cord plugged into the wall, and why can it not just run off of my laptops battery?
The reason i'm asking is because i don't want to have the power supply constantly plugged into my laptop anymore. The last laptop that i did this with, the battery expanded and warped my computer.
I very rarely use my laptop as an actual laptop, so i like this setup where my laptop acts as sort of a desktop computer, with wireless keyboard and mouse connected.
i have no other way to drain the battery essentially, but when i unplug it, the external monitor turns black. is there some way to stop this from happening? I dont understand why it would effect the monitor when it should be getting it's power from the wall.

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with ONE computer at a time. If you attempt to sync such content with a second computer, ALL itunes content will first be erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature & cannot be overridden. Because you formatted your computer, the iphone will see your computer as a "new" computer.
1.First, disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected, in preferences, in itunes, which in windows is in the edit menu.
    2. Put one contact & one event in whatever programs you use for that purpose on your computer, they can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is to have one entry in each.
    3. Connect your phone, itunes running, DO NOT SYNC.
    4. Go up to Store>Authorize this Computer.
    5. Go up to File>Transfer Purchases. All of the purchased itunes content on your phone will be transferred, music you ripped on your own will not be transferred. You will have to use third party software to first extract that music from your phone BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING. Same for photos not in your camera roll, the photo sync is one way...computer to phone. This is one example:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
    6. Right click the phone in the device pane & select Reset Warnings.
    7. Right click the phone, again, & select Backup.
    8. Right click the phone, again, & select Restore from Backup. Select the backup you just made.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select as before from the various tabs.
You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
This article details what's included in the backup you'll make & restore from:

    Hi Gurus,
I have requirement wherein i need to send an image in body of email. As of now i am able to create attachment and refer it to body of the email .this works fine and the image displays in body of the email.
The problem is when i send the mail to outlook it works fine, but when i send to others for e.g. gmail or lotus note, no image comes in the body , only image comes as an attachment.
can some expert solve this problem.
Or if some can help in sending the image in the body of the email without attachment is also fine?
    Regards,

    Madhu,
Can you post the steps you took to get the html to goto the body when it is sent to an Outlook account?  Even this is an impressive feat.  Did you put the html into a Smartform and somehow get it to render in the e-mail body?  Please explain.

  • G4 Powerbook + 24" LED Display: Compatible?

Is my Powerbook G4 1Mhz compatible with the Apple 24" LED display (#A1267)?
If not, what would be the most advanced display I can hook up to my Powerbook without trouble?
    Thanks,
    PP

Mating the G4 with an LED 24" : will it be an acceptable resolution, on par with that of the previous generation LCD displays (for example, the 23" Apple Cinema)?
You're likely better off with a different display.
Must I use a converter gadget at all?
    Yes.
do I have to go through complicated conversions and lossy resolution with a 23" LCD display?
For best results, pick one with a DVI connection and an optimum resolution of 1600x1200 or smaller.

  • 24" LED display just DIED!!!!

My 24" LED display has been working without issue connected to my Mac Mini server, but tonight just started flickering (mostly black with an occasional split second glimpse at a blue screen then straight to black again).
I shut the Mac Mini down (held power button in was the only route). Reset SMC, PRAM etc etc, restarted but no image at all on the 24" Display.
I connected up a Samsung Full HD monitor I have kicking around through the Mini DVI to DVI adapter and no flickering.
I connected the 24" up to my 27" iMac MDP and. . . nothing. 24" is completely dead.
Anybody else experienced this or similar. Anyone experienced this and found a fix?
Apple Store tomorrow that's for sure!

    Update:
I contacted my local Apple Store and booked a Genius Appointment (saw them on Tuesday- just passed- @ 3).
Genius was a great guy. Diagnosed the issue and ordered a new replacement unit, which should be here today or tomorrow.

  • Dashboard and window sizes when connecting to LED display

    Hello,
I just bought the LED display yesterday...gotta say thats its beautiful....i have one problem though....when i connected it to my macbook all the window sizes (e.g safari, itunes, dashboard) were too small....I tried modifying them...but now when i disconnect the display the window sizes on the macbook are too big and out of display....the resolution on the laptop is 1280X800 and on the screen its 1920X1200
    any way to fix this?
    Thanks

My experience is that if you are connected to the larger display and then disconnect without restarting, then you will see the behaviour you are describing.
If you restart the machine after disconnecting, the MB is smart enough to make everything fit within the native (and only available) resolution.
    Good luck!

  • Displaying messages without h:message or h:messages tag

How can you display messages without h:message or h:messages tag. Is it possible to disply messages in another component. I have only a small piece of page reserved for displaying errors and it would be nice to show these errors in component with scrollbar.
    Regards, Simy

Well you can access messages produced using
getMessages() method of faces context. Store these messages in some attribute of backing bean and attach this attribute to some component in your jsf page.
You can use the following conditions to determine the presence of any messages using:
    rendered="#{! empty facesContext.maximumSeverity}"

  • OA Page access without attaching to any responsibility

    All,
I have developed a page where employees can select the gift items. But this selection is possible only on their anniversary day. The page access link should not be available at any time.
So the plan is to send the page access link to them by email on their anniversary date.
The problem is, if I didnt attach this page function to any responsibility, the users will not able to access the page from the email link. (Insufficient privileges)
Is there any way to achieve dis without attaching to any responsibility. Or after attaching to responsibility, is thr any way to hide the link for the user when thy login into APPS?
thr r few workarounds like, give access to all, and on pageLoad check for their anniversary date and then allow if applicable..
Lemme know if there is any way to achieve that before going for the abv mentioned workaround..

    Hi,
You want to develop a custom OAF page which can be accessed without login, You can develop using Anonymous or Guest Login implementation. If you want more details please give me your mail id i will send you the document about that.
    Mukul/Tapash,
What i have told is about Anonymous or Guest Logins, i think i have discussed about this earlier.
Page Supports Anonymous or Guest Logins :
If you have a Guest user page to display that does not require a user to log in, then you should secure your page with a GUEST user permission. You should also have a explicit grant/function/responsibility assigned to the GUEST user. Note: GUEST is a special seeded user in the Oracle Applications Users form.
In our example, the Benefits Registration Page is an example of a Guest user page. To create a Guest user page:
Step 1: Set the Security Mode property of your page to Self secured.
Step 2: Implement the validateParameters() method in your controllers to protect the integrity of the URL.
Tip: Note that the above two steps are required because your page should exist outside a user's session, and is therefore "bookmarkable". You can find more information on how to set up bookmarkable pages in the Accelerated Validation topic.
Step 3: Set a permission on the rendered attribute of your page layout region using a function security SPEL expression.
So, in our example, let's create a permission called BENEFITS_GUEST, and set the expression ${oa.FunctionSecurity.BENEFITS_GUEST} on the Rendered property of the Benefits Registration Page. We will learn about how to associate this permission with a grant to the GUEST user in the subsequent steps.
The OA Framework requires no authentication and authorization to run a page that is secured using a GUEST user-granted permission.
Note: Although a GLOBAL-granted permission would seem logical to use, it actually is not appropriate in this case. All users except the GUEST user have access to pages that have a GLOBAL grant. In addition, GLOBAL users must first log in and be authenticated in order to access those globally-granted pages.
    Thanks.
    With Regards,
    Kali.

  • LED display hibernation

I am having isues with my LED display on my HP photosmart printer.  It never goes into hibination mode it continually runs the video clip displaying things about the printer.  What do I need to do in order for it to hibinate when not in use?

I wouldn't worry so much over the screen unless you want a little more battery life. According to Apple, the picture quality and brightness is similar. Further the battery savings is not just from the LED's, but also from the Santa Rosa chipset. Thus fitting your machine with one may only slightly enhance battery without the chipset. Further, fitting one would likely work (physically), it could be risky since they use less power, meaning that your machine might feed too much power to it.
What is the comparison in brightness, color range?
    Identical to the previous generation.
Glossy and Matte finish in all screen sizes and variants?
    Yes.

  • New Mac Mini & Dual 24" LED Displays - Possible ?

I would like to run 2 x 24" Apple LED Cinema displays from a new Mac Mini. Can this be done without any loss of resolution or speed ?

    Thanks woodmeister50 that's very useful.
I should clarify its the 2.5GHz Mini I'm considering with the i7 upgrade option. I already have a 24" LED Cinema display and was thinking of getting another (used) 24" LED display to match it. I'd buy the new Thunderbolt displays however 2 x 27" takes up a lot of desk space !! The alternative would to acquire 2 x HP ZR24 displays and use those instead ?
