24fps no working right, seriously....

i made an animatic (this is a edited storyboard) for a cartoon film, i made it in a 24fps (not 23,976) sequence because we are going to film...
i exported the full edited animatic to various formats (all in 24fps, not 23,976), say mp4, h264, dv for different people at diferent stages of our workflow...
and i exported an aiff of the full mix
now can this be possible?????
i imported the dv version of my 24fps animatic, and imported the aiff export of THE SAME SEQUENCE to a new project and they DON'T FIT (the new sequence is obviously 24fps not 23,976)
and it don't stop there, if a made a 23,976 sequence and put my 24fps file, no render is needed, so the 23,976 and 24fps are treated the same way.
this if a f..k up we are getting major out of sync problems when going to protools OMF and ref movies.
now the cherry... i put my aiff master in the 24fps seq, and started to put all my full animated files with audio for sync, open the audiowave form to sync seeing the waveform, IF I PUT THE FILES SYNCING WITH THE DISPLAY, THEY DONT SYNC, it means i see two identical waveforms one above another a i hear it differently, more out of sync more close to the end of the seq.
this mean in my 24fps seq, i'm hearing something diferent than the display i have...

check this... the problem here is not about the gadgets i have attached to my computer... IS INSIDE THE SOFTWARE.... this means the speakers, the monitor, the final output are NOT THE PROBLEM.
To be specific, using a computer with absolute no hardware linked to it, a G5 Dual 1.8Ghz, with his monitor, mouse and keyboard, i export a quicktime movie (using export Quicktime movie obviously, NOT quicktime conversion or compressor) with video and audio, and export an aiff file of the same seq (a DV 24fps seq), then i imported again those files to FCP, put in a new seq, and they VISUALLY don't fit. These means one file VISUALLY is shorter than the other, in the browser window the two files indicate exactly the same duration, but visually the don't fit.
Now if i press play... hearing thru the internal speaker, the sound is OK, no increasing delay thru time.
this is someting that anyone could test, or not?
now if i change the rate of the new seq from 24fps to 23.976fps, the bug turns upside down, now the files VISUALLY looks in sync (this means the hills and depressions of the waveform syncs one with the other) but if i press play, the sound gets out of sync (increasing delay thru time).
sorry, but this is the third time in the same post i explain the bug, it's no so difficult to understand.
To my knowledge, there is a major error in FCP that is applyng a pull-up or pull-down to the sound to compense things that not need compensation.
Well. i can live with some bugs, but this is making my life miserable, if i export the seq using compressor, (to make a ref movie for audio post in protools), the exported movie inside protools (software who hasn't this bug) SOMETIMES FIT AND SOMETIMES DON'T, using the same preset in compressor. The same viceversa, the audio exported from protools, inside FCP sometimes sync o other don't using the same process. (we are talking about audio here folks, fit or don't fit means sound good or sound delayed o out of sync)
So what we have here is an insconsistent bug. (a moody bug)
how can i bypass this? anyone knows?

Red-eye not working right

I have a friend who's Macbook is acting a bit weird. In iPhoto 08 if you try to edit the red eye, after a few photos it'll starting doing one eye okay (the left) but then completely miss the other one, putting a black splotch above the eye or to the side of the eye. It's not because of aiming incorrectly.
Also although this isn't the right place to post, iMovie 06 won't let her edit the audio in timeline view. The little markers that enable you to drag the volume down aren't there when you click, for some reason. Not major things but little bugs...
All the latest updates have been installed and I've also done things like deleting the plist and even done an Archive Install for her but iPhoto red eye still doesn't work right. Haven't checked iMovie 06 yet but maybe will tomorrow.

Have you run the latest updates for the iLife 08 apps? If so reinstall iPhoto and update the the lastest, 7.1, followed by a repair of disk permissions.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. I've had my FIOS about 2 months, put new batteries in remote and it is still not working right. Some things work fine. Other things stopped working - can't delete a DVR show, can't change channels with one digit, but it will if I add all 4 digits, info box on bottom of screen never disappears (unless I hit exit). What's wrong?
My second TV set-up is OK.

Might not even be a remote issue. Have you tried rebooting the box?
If you do think it's the remote it's still under warranty.
You can get a free replacement easy within the dvr's menu.
Here is a page that tells you ways to get a replacement.

Get a new remote and if you still have the same issues then you'll know its the dvr that needs to be replaced.

It may be the best source of assistance is the manufacturer of the device. I suspect you will need a specific app for the iPhone to get it to work, but the site is rather ambiguous about that.

You cannot reinstall iOS without doing a restore. But you might first try a software update. If you have iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1, you can update to iOS 5.1 by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Mini-DVI to HDTV setup not working right

Hi folks,
I have an iMac8,1 (24" intel with mini-dvi video port) that I am trying to hook up to my 50" plasma TV for surfing the web and looking at photos from the sofa. I've hooked it up with an apple mini-dvi to composite/S-video adapter with very poor results. As soon as I plug the adapter into the mini-dvi port, the iMac changes to a 4:3 aspect ratio at a very low resolution. The video is mirrored to the TV, again at a 4:3 aspect ratio and the resolution is awful. Text is all but unreadable.
I try switching resolutions from the display preferences pane, but nothing seems to work right. There are two display detected...the iMac and NTSC/PAL. Changing the resolutions on either of them don't seem to behave properly at all...everything just stays really coarse on the iMac no matter what, and the TV is horribly fuzzy. If I unplug the adapter from the iMac, the screen returns to 1920x1200.
Any thoughts? Should I be using a mini-DVI to HDMI for the video instead of the composite/S-video adapter?

Hello mmogie,
The problem is not with in the adapter. The quality on the external LCD or Plasma depends the most on the graphic cards. Thats that.
And in your case your problem is the mirroring, you will get really bad quality on the external screen because you are trying to mirror it with the one on our iMac and the Plasma screen supports different resolution then your iMac does so what happens is when you mirror it the graphics cards tries to find the middle ground ...
Now what you need to do is configure the plasma as extension not as mirror (Under Display Preferences>Displays ) select the second tab "Arrangement" and uncheck the mirror Displays.
So what the graphics will do is find you nice proper resolution for your imac and your Plasma separately and you will have good quality picture, and from there you can change the resolution to tweak it a bit more...
Now to take a step further if you want your Plasma to be the primary screen for your OS X and for you to have the dock on there, run apps and browse the web, all you have to do is from the "Arrangement" tab in the Displays Preferences just point the mouse on the wthite line and click and hold to "Drag and drop" it to your second screen "the Plasma" in your case and you will see how the dock and the task bar will show on the Plasma and you take it from there....

Please provide a copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key
(alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information). Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed.
You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload to your Sky Drive, share with everyone and post a link here. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open Mail or Safari.

Never did work right away always have to restart ipad or do wifi setup again on the printer. I am not sure whether os is ..1 or.2 or just 6.0

IPad 2 was updated to latest iOS 7 and has been not working right since. I have tried to do a restore but still continues to go into reboot mode by itself and very erratic. Can no longer trust it. I tried to complain to Apple but have to give them 20 buck

iPad has not worked right since it updated to latest software. Tried to question Apple about it but it costs 20 bucks just to lodge a complaint. Is this normal Apple behavior or am I missing something. Also anyone else having issues with upgrade to iOS7. It was working great until that point and now goes into reboot mode often and sometimes will continuously reboot several times. I have tried to restore but that didn't clear the problem. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

Can someone please help. My IPhoneS stopped working right after I did the latest update which was yesterday. Now, the phone does not work at all. When turned on, the screen shows a picture of USB cable pointing to the ITunes logo. I have tried just about everything, and cannot get it working. It's like it is frozon. My ITunes does not recognize my device. Cannot dial out either. I desperately need to get it working. Can someone please help me.

The update did not do anything.
AT&T cannot and will not do anything, they do not provide support for iPhones, Apple does.
The issue is not with the iPhone or iOS if you've reset network settings and tried forgetting the Wi-Fi Network, it is specific to the network.
Check the settings on the router, try disabling the security settings first... that will clarify the issue is not with the device but rather the Network.

You can always try to reset your device and see if it helps matters any:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

Has the unit EVER been jailbroke?
If "No," first try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.
