24p editing Mac Elements 11

I've scoured the blogs and it seems as though there is no way to capture and edit HDV true 24p (no dropdowns) into elements 11.
When I tried it defaults to 29.97 and plays video approx 20% faster than audio.
I see there was a downloadble 'preset' patch avail along the way but only for Windows.
For fun, I even tried to trick it into a capture with preset PAL 25fps preset (which is available) and it still shows clips at 29.97.
Maybe I am msiing something or it is just not a feature in Elements (?)
(btw- I have also read the 'why did you film in artsy fartsy 24p' stuff)
I am new to this so try to forgive any uneducated terms or understanding.
If you can offer help, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.

By HDV, I assume you're talking about tape-based high-def video and not AVCHD or some other high-def format.
If that is the case, Premiere Elements can not edit this type of video in its native 24p. In the Elements version of Premiere, HDV can only be edited in 30i.

Svea support the license for Photoshop and Premiere Elements 13 is a multi platform license.  Have you downloaded the installation files and ran the installation with the serial number you received?

  • Follow up to previously answered Mac/Elements 9 question

    I've got the following system:
    Model Name: iMac
      Operating System: OS X 10.5.8
      Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 1

      Bus Speed: 800 MHz
      Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B03
      SMC Version (system): 1.21f4
I've been using Photoshop Elements v.4 and am considering upgrading to v.9
I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 and use iPhoto to store thousands of photos.  I do ALL of my editing in Elements and do not plan to use the Organizer portion of Elements.  As I'm considering upgrading to OS X 6 in order to be able to use iPhoto 11, will I be taxing my system AND will I be able to use older peripherals (i.e. Epson Perfection 1640SU scanner).
I've also just been reading about a new Mac OS coming next summer (Lion).  Now I'm really confused.
    Any advice?
    Thanks,

There are probably many, but Moyea offers a vast array of FLV utilities/editors, and they are very good.
One option, although not a cheap one, is PrPro CS5. It allows direct FLV input (under most circumstances), and with the included Encore, will also Export a DVD Project as Flash. Note: PrPro, prior to about CS4, required the Moyea FLV Importer for Premiere Pro module. This was an add-on option, and worked very, very well. I use it in PrPro 2.0, with no issues. As of CS4, that module would not work, but with the CS4.2 update, PrPro included native FLV Import.
As I stated, there are probably many other options, but those are two that I have used, and they work seamlessly and very well.
I would love to see Moyea offer an FLV Import module for PrE, but so far, that is only in development. I have corresponded with them, but they cannot share any estimated delivery date. I am not a coder, so have no idea what would need to be done to adapt the PrPro Importer module to PrE. Also, Adobe made changes in PrPro w/ CS4, as mentioned above, and Moyea dropped development on an update for their Importer module, when Adobe released CS4.2. There was no need for the additional Moyea add-in. Might have spelled the death of a PrE module, or maybe there are enough differences, to make it a tough task. I just do not know.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Edit in Elements 9 Problems

Using Mac Snow leopard and Lightroom 3.4.1 and when trying to edit in Elements the Elements edit app opens but the file does not appear. To edit I have to open file/open and navigate to the file?
    Alan

    Hi,
When you select elements as your additional ext editor there are two options in the elements folder. One called just elements 10 which is an alias or shortcut and another called elements 10 app and this is the one you need to select,  NOT the alias. This solved the problem for me.

  • How to insert a text edit UI element  in a table

    hi all,
I want a text edit UI element in a table .I do not want input field because text entered can be very long and whole text cant be seen then.Is there any way to increase the width of input field if i insert an input field ? or what can be other solution for this?

    Hi Govind,
You can't insert Text Edit as a cell variant in table. But you can increase the 'Width' property of Input Field, say to 500px or as per your requirement, so that you can display the full text at one go. Or you can bind the 'Width' property to a context and set the width at run time as per the text length.
    Thanks,

  • Camera Raw 5.7 doesn't work with MAC Elements 6

    RAW 5.7 doesn't work on Elements 6.
5.6 works fine, placing the plugin in the /PLUG-INS/CS3/FILE FORMATS and starting Elements 6 and trying to open a raw file says
Unable to use camera raw plugin
It is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements
I have read the 5.7 raw read-me and it definitely says that it is compatible with MAC Elements 6 could somebody confirm this?

Thank you, another case of big corporations screwing over the little guy. You want the latest update - you have to upgrade your complete software package. Wouldn't it be nice if they made the plugin compatible with the products as stated in their documentation and then posted a note saying that further updates will not be compatible?
After all, windows users got a version 7, us poor MAC users didn't!
    Anyway thanks for the answers.

You do know there's no organizer in the mac version, right? • How do I configure RAW editing with Elements 11

I have a new camera, Lumix TZ60, I've taken photos and when I tried editing in Elements 11 I had a message '- - - Visit Camera RAW help' does this mean the camera manufacturer or check with Adobe?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
The TZ60 was first supported in Adobe Camera Raw 8.4 which is only compatible with Elements 12 and newer.
So you'll never be able to edit Raw files from the TZ60 in Elements 11.
Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?
    Options:
    Upgrade to Elements 13
Free option: download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all TZ60 Raw files to DNG format then edit the DNG files in Elements 11

I have a first edition mac mini and internal speaker are not enabled yet.. what can I do?

If you are using an HDMI connection, go to Apple / System Preferences / Sound and see if you can select the Built-In Speakers?
If you have headphones, buds or something plugged into the Audio Output jack, unplug it.
If not then perhaps the micro switch inside the Audio Output jack is stuck? In that case, try plugging and unplugging some headphones, buds or something in and out a few times to see if it will un-stick.
If it will not un-stick, then you will need to make an appointment for service.

  • MAC Elements 12 Organizer frequent crashes

Organizer faces a lot of crashes even when not action on the keyboard or the mouse making it unusable !

    I am going to tryŠ
You know the following points. When a new photo is added into the library,
usually, the automatic recognition opens the following window:
Suggested, from the database, Organizer provides 3 names which could be
applied (or not) to the selected face.
Sometime there is only one suggestion as below
For both situations, if the suggestion is not a right name, it is possible
to swap it with a new one or another one already in the the database.
That is the nice stage of the process for 4 or 5 inputs (it is not always
the same number of items). After several inputs, Organizer no longer takes
in account name dialed on the keyboard or suggested in both windows as upper
displayed, neither using the left click of the mouse nor the « Enter » key
of the keyboard. It is impossible to enter a name.
And at this step of the issue, for an unknown face, if I want to cancel the
window clicking in the upper right cross, the cancelation becomes
impossible, the window stays on the face.
Solution is to close Organizer and to start it again
But, in case of no automatic window, if we use the Manual recognition tool
window, it always works (enter a name is always possible).
Not easy to explain, I hope I was clear.
    Rgds.

  • PLEASE help with 24p editing mixed with 29.97

Hello--I am a newbie to all of this 24p editing. I shot a zombie movie last summer and have a MESS with the footage. Half was shot in 24p advanced mode on the Panasonic AGDVX100a with a 16:9 anamorphic lens, and half shot at 4:3, 29.97 with a Sony DVX2100.
I realize I need to "conform all of this footage".
Can I stay on a 29.97 timeline? I heard that dropping 24p adv footage onto a 29.97 timeline results in a "jittery" picture once output to TV.
Should I edit on a 24p timeline, and convert the 29.97 footage?
It seems that when I drop my 24p advanced footage into Premiere (CS4), on a 24p timeline--the fouth frame is identical to the fifth. Does this mean that pulldown removal is not happening correctly? How do I fix this?
Even if I do figure out how to edit on a 24p timeline, when I do my final render, what should my output file be? should I try a 24p DVD?
Also...This is an EFFECTS HEAVY film. So I need to do an edit in Premier, then render it and bring it into After Effects, do the effects, and do another render...then I will take that render back into Premier. Will this work? What render setting should I use? How will the pulldown be affected, if at all?
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! I have scoured the net, but have not come across the right answers yet...please help!!!!

    Hello orion,
Your HDR-CX550V records HD as MPEG4 AVC/H.264; and SD as MPEG2-PS. It appears to be an AVCHD camcorder (at least for HD video).
Storing your +original footage+ could be done at least two ways:
1 - record to removable flash media and save the Memory Sticks as your originals, as you formerly saved your tapes. (If I did my math correctly, you could fit up to about 6.5 hrs. HD video on a 16GB memory stick depending on the recording mode you select.)
2 - copy the +entire directory structure+ from the flash media to a hard drive; this is important, you need the entire directory & files from the root folder on down, not just the AVCHD folder or just the .mts files. Test this before committing to it as your archiving method.
The third way (and what I would probably do myself):
3 - Log & Transfer into FCE and then archive the resulting QuickTime .mov files to a hard drive. (Admittedly, this is technically not the 'original' footage because it has been transcoded to Apple Intermediate Codec; however the quality is excellent and should be almost indistinguishable from the original AVCHD video.)
If you convert the video files yourself (you mentioned iSkysoft), you need to convert to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec to use the video in FCE.
FCP can handle 5.1 audio however the state of the art of these camcorders does not lend itself to direct import or conversion from the camcorder. Even the pros need dedicated 5.1 audio hardware. Frankly, 5.1 audio on these consumer camcorders is more a marketing gimmick than something actually useful at present.
The filenames 00001.MTS, 00002.MTS etc. are assigned by your camcorder and there is nothing you can do to change that. (Although you could rename the QT .mov files after you Log & Transfer from your camcorder).
    - hoping this helps ...

  • Sending photos for editing in elements

How can I transfer photos from lightroom 5 after editing to elements 12 for final editing?

I think you need to be a member of Elements Village to open attachments at that link. You can do the setup in Lightroom prefs. From the Library go to:
    Edit >> Preferences
Then select the External Editing tab.
Click the choose button in the section for Additional External Editor and then navigate to Photoshop Elements Editor application to complete the set up.
You need to start the round trip from LR as follows and use the save command (Ctrl+S) not save as:
    1) Ctrl+E in the Library to export selected image with develop settings (I choose PSD)
    2) Edit in Photoshop; then Ctrl+S to replace (overwrite) Lightroom export copy
    3) Ctrl+W to close in Photoshop and update Lightroom thumbnail

I would not trust it, its impossible to have a a Lifetime License for 100$
