250 GB hard disk in C200

First of all, hello everybody!
My hard disk is about to die (getting lots of CRC errors), so I was wondering does the 3000 C200 8922-BJG model support 250GB hard disks? On this site it says only up to 120GB, but I thought it could be a bit outdated or something...
Second thing I'd like to know is what's the maximum memory supported (over there it says 2GB).
Thank you for your time!
Srecko

Well, after doing more research I don't see a reason why it would not be possible. Now if I only knew if I could put more RAM inside...

  • WAAS - WAE-512-K9 - SATA2 250 GB Hard disk not detecting

We had installed new WAE-512-K9 having 2*SATA2 250GB Hard disk as edge box in one of the branch. But during configuration, we have notified that both the hard disks are not getting detected. Both the disks 00 & 01 are inserted in the respective slots as mentioned in the cisco document. Hard disk LEDs are glowing intially when the device boots up, but later there is no LED indication. Please help me in resolving this issue.

    Hi Tammy,
The only thing you need is - disk delete-data-partitions once the unit reboots after the memory upgrade. This command re-aligns the CIFS and DRE partition to match with 8GB memory. This command should retain the software and config on the device, only repartition the caching partitions. Not sure what may have went wrong but it seems like at this moment you may want to re-install image using copy ftp install command on WAE. Other than that, your disks look helthy.
    Regards.

  • Should I allocate my 250 laptop hard disk?

I bought new hdd for my laptop, its 250 gb, should I allocate before installation of new Windows? is there any advantages of partitions or ? cheers
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I always make a separate partition just for the operating system, so I can store files on the remaining larger partition when I decide to reinstall the OS.
This is nice in that you can wipe out the first partition and do a clean install of Windows while still having your data safely stored on the other partition(s).
With hard drives so cheap and large raid arrays being affordable on the desktop, partitions are a VERY good idea; I mean who wants to waste the time recopying over 2 Terabytes worth of bluray rips from optical media because your OS gets hosed somehow  DBAN/Active KDisk take a LONG time to write zeroes to entire 1TB drives too btw and diskpart using clean all, even worse.
*At least use diskpart to align the partition(s)

  • Help! full up hard disk

Sorry to ask such a dumb question but my 250 GB hard disk is now nearly full up. Thing is I don't know why. I have a few photos and and all my music on i tunes but apart from that there should be loads of space. Can anyone suggest what may be filling it up and how do I remove it

    Empty the trash!
Open up your application folder & go through all your apps. Trash all the apps you no longer want and/or use.
An easier way to do this is to open the Application folder in list view & press the Command+j keys.
In the the dialog that appears, click the "This Window Only" button & the "Calculate All Sizes" check box.
Wait a bit until your file & folder sizes have all been calculated, then click the "Size" column to sort your apps from the fattest to the most anorexic.
Get rid of all your photo files you don't want and/or need. Same goes for those pics off the websites you downloaded (gifs, jpegs, etc.).
I'm old fashion. I still keep my photos in a photo album. So when people come over my house, they can actually "touch" & "feel" my photos without me running to my computer to "show my photos".
Get rid of all your music files you no longer listen too. Especially, if you already have the actual CDs and/or DVDs or you can later redownload from a website.
Use Spotlight to make sure you got rid of everything. You can even trash directly from Spotlight!
Drag what you don't want and/or need to the trash. Better yet, download this neat little shareware app demo called AppZapper. It basically does all the work for you by not only trashing the apps but the apps preference files, caches & all its associated files.
Burn what you want and/or need onto CDs or DVDs.
Not everyone has the luxury of purchasing an external HD and/or a .Mac account to store their "stuff, junk, music & photos".
You can check with your ISP to see if they offer free storage space. Most if not all do now-a-days. I store all 5000+ of my music (mp3s) files & 500+ music videos in my ISP storage bin.
There are thousands if not millions of free storage facilities on the web also. Use Spotlight, Google &/or MacGoogle to search them out as they come in different storage sizes to fit your needs & wants.
    Check for duplicate fonts.
    Applications>Font Book
    Select “All Fonts”
If you see any “black dots” next to any fonts this mean you have duplicates and/or multiple versions of these fonts.
    To clean this up, select a “black dotted” font or the Apple + click to select multiple dotted fonts;
    Edit>Resolve>Duplicates.
What the above does is turns off the duplicates & multiple version fonts. Not delete them.
More than likely the “extras” were installed by other programs and/or other users.
    Clear out font caches
Use FontNuke. It does all the work for you. And, best of all it’s FREE.
    Printer Drivers
Get rid of all the printer drivers you don’t need & use except the ones for your current printer(s)/scanner(s).
    HD>Library>Printers Folder
If you accidently threw something out that you needed for your printer/scanner it can be easily obtained from the manufacturer’s website and/or from the CD that came w/the printer/scanner.
    Garage Band
Has about 1GB of loops stored. Get rid of some some them. You surely don’t use, like and/or need them all.
    HD>Library>Audio/Apple Loops>Apple>Apple Loops For GarageBand
Or just get rid of the Garage Band app altogether if you don’t use it.
    Get rid of extra languages
Strip your computer down to your “native” tongue.
You can do this with a FREE utility called Monolingual. Another app that apparently does all the work for you. I’ve never used it. However, a lot of users here swear by & recommend it highly.
However, there is a warning for *native English speakers*. Make sure you keep BOTH English and English (United States).

  • How to ADD a second external Hard Disk ?

    Hi,
I'm using an iMac 1,42 GHZ PowerPC G4 mini.
With an external 250 GB hard disk.
Can I ADD an extra external hard disk ?
    And HOW ?
Thanks very much for an answer !
    John

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
You probably have a Mac mini, as an iMac is a different system.
Using firewire connections, you can daisy chain drives together. So, you hook one into the mini, then hook the next into a firewire port on the external hard drive connected to the mini. If your current hard drive is connected via firewire, you should be able to add another firewire drive by plugging into your existing external hard drive.
If you're using a USB drive, you can buy a USB hub that will allow you to connect more than one USB device.

  • Hard disk drive is full

    hi to all experts,
i have ides ecc 6.0 installed on  my 250 gb hard disk drive, it is full and it has only 13 mb free space available, how to delete unwanted data

    Hi,
    first stop sap.
if you already  add new HDD then as temporary workaround   remove virtual memory assign to your D drive if you have two partition and assign virtaul memory to new HDD.
and on future add data file for tablespace on  this newly added HDD.
you can also move redo log file on different partition
    1. Create new redo logfile groups in the new location.
    alter database add logfile group 3 'filename','filename' size 100m;
    2. Alter system switch logfile till the the new one is current and the old one is no longer active.
    3. Alter system drop logfile group 1;
4 Delete old redo log file.
    regards,

  • Move hard disk with OS X installation from one MacBook Pro to another

    Hi all,
I'm switching from my Unibody MacBook 17" to a Unibody MacBook 13". I want to keep my current hard disk including the OS X installation and all installed applications from my MacBook 17".
Can I just move the hard disk from my MacBook 17" to my MacBook 13" and expect OS X (and the installed applications) to work without any problems?
Many thanks and all the best,
    Michael

    Hi Kurt,
many thanks for your reply. I don't have a firewire cable and there is only a single hard disk involved (the MacBook 13" will only come with a 250 GB hard disk, which is too small to hold all the information from my current 500 GB hard disk).
What I could do is to physically move my current 500 GB hard disk from my 17" to my 13", reinstall OS X with the DVD coming with my 13" and then restore from my time capsule during install. That should work and avoid the driver problems which you mentioned, right?
Many thanks and all the best,
    Michael

  • Disk Utility error -9972 with new external hard disks

My Powerbook 15" (1.67MHz, 1.5 GB RAM, 100GB drive) is partitioned into two volumes:
    - OS-X 10.3.9
    - OS-X 10.4.3
Each volume has its own Disk Utility:
    - Disk Utility 10.4.4 v.145.7 (part of OS-X 10.3.9)
    - Disk Utility 10.5.3 v.198.5 (part of OS-X 10.4.3)
In order to make backups I use an external hard disk enclosure:
    - Macally PHR-100AC, firewire + USB2
Recently I bought two new 250 GB hard disks and built one of them into the external enclosure (jumper setting to master) and connected it with firewire and formatted the drive as Extended Journaled. After that I made Verify Disk and got bad error messages and could not repair the disk.
    Funny thing (reproduceable):
Using Disk Utility in OS-X 10.3.9 and formatting as Extended without Journaled: NO errors
Using Disk Utility in OS-X 10.3.9 and formatting as Extended Journaled: volume bitmap errors
Using Disk Utility in OS-X 10.4.3 and formatting as Extended without Journaled: bad errors
Using Disk Utility in OS-X 10.4.3 and formatting as Extended Journaled: bad errors
Using Disk Utility in OS-X 10.4.3 and formatting as Extended without Journaled and verifying using OS-X 10.3.9: bad errors
    Bad error messages:
    - incorrect key length
    - the underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)
    - stopped repairing ... volume could not be repaired
    I tried:
    - to build the second new hard disk into the enclosure: same errors
    - to install new firmware 4.73 into enclosure (compatible to 10.3.9): same errors
    - zeroing out all data: same errors
    - to use Techtool Pro 4.0.6 (compatible to 10.4): same errors
    - to restart the mac using both partitions: different errors as described above
    - to disconnect, shut down, restart the external enclosure: same errors
    - to use another firewire cable: same errors
    - to format the external disk again and again: same errors
    - to find any discussion or knowledge base or faq: nothing
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    ibond

Your post on -9972 was very helpful. Thank you.
In the meantime I bought another enclosure (Macally PHC-500BC) and installed the same firmware 4.73 and tried to use it.
Surprise, surprise! Everything is ok with no errors. All my hard disks are working perfectly.
I suppose my 100AC is a faulty enclosure and needs replacement.
    Thanks for your help.

How can i transfer all my data 250 GB from external hard disk to MAC pro

The simple answer is just connect the external hard drive and drag the files from there to wherever you want them to go. If you need to do something more specific, you'll have to provide more details.

  • I want to give away or sell a 6500/250 running 7.6.1. How can the hard disk be erased so that the data are gone, not recoverable? thanks, LifeisRich

I want to give away or sell a 6500/250 running 7.6.1. How can the hard disk be erased so that the data are gone, not recoverable? thanks, LifeisRich

I'd recommend that you check for Mac User Group(s) in Orange County.  That's where you'd likely find a diehard Mac fanatic who might want to add your 6500 to his/her collection.  Even if you got nothing for it, it would be better than e-cycling it.  I upgraded my 6500/275 with what was a "large" hard drive at the time (15 GBs), maxed the memory at 128 MBs, installed the 512K L2 cache card, a better ATI Rage Pro PCI graphics card, a USB PCI card, and an internal 56K modem.  With it running OS 9.1, it did all of the pre-OS X stuff I needed it to do.  As I previously mentioned, it's a nice-sounding MP3 player.  Internet Explorer 5.1.7 (the final release from 2001) kept it useful for surfing the web up until 2005, when it became too outdated/incompatible with many web sites.  Unfortunately, the demands of the internet and the need for a modern browser, as well as faster processing to digest it all, are what retired many older Macs from active duty.  So my (2) 6500s and (3) 6400s (same tower design) sit in storage.  There is one concern that I'll pass along: The motherboard has a 4.5-volt alkaline battery, that's a small, black plastic cube, secured in place by velcro.  If your 6500 has been disconnected from electricity for a long time, the battery will undoubtedly be dead.  Unlike the many Apple computers that used a small ½AA lithium battery (that I've never seen leak when completely dead), the 6500's battery can and usually does start leaking.  Because the motherboard sits vertically oriented on its side edge when installed, the leaking battery will drip alkaline solution down the board, corroding any components in it path.  I've seen motherboards ruined from this.  If you're going to give it away or sell it, you might want to pull the motherboard (remove the two machine screws on the rear I/O panel, next to the pull tabs).  Slide out the board and unplug the battery's small connector (has red & black wires), then lift up on the battery, while holding down the "toothed" velcro mount with something non-conductive, like a popsicle stick.  Once it's free, dispose of the battery.  If you're interested, a replacement can be purchased for about $5-$7 from battery specialty retailers - it's a Rayovac 870 or 871.  Even if you don't replace it, removing one that will eventually leak is a good idea, (hopefully) before any damage is done.

  • HT5313 How can i change my hard disk up to 250 GB or 500 GB ?

Can i change my hard disk up to 200 GB or 500 GB ? if i can,how should i do ?

Clone backup current drive to an external disk (SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner). The external disk should be a FireWire drive so you can boot it (I believe the White MacBooks only booted external FireWire drives). You should test booting the cloned external before continuing.  Or you could clone the current MacBook drive to the new replacement drive, which could be done via USB or FireWire.
If I recall correctly, remove the battery, remove a metal shield, pull out the current drive, remove the bracket, attach bracket to new drive, slide new drive back in, put metal shield back on, put battery back in.
If you cloned directly to new replacement drive, boot up your MacBook and enjoy.
If you cloned to an external FireWire, boot the external cloned FireWire drive,  and clone it back to the new replacement drive.
If you consider your data valuable, have yet another backup to a different drive before starting just to be safe.
There should be YouTube videos that will show you how to do this, or search MacSales.com for how to videos.

    Dear All,

also i heard about hp laptops tatooing ....whats that ? would the new hard disk baught from outside won't work with my hp laptop ?
Many Thanks in advance for your help!!
    Cheers!
    Ritesh

    Here is the Manual:
    Manual
    See Page 60
The new hard drive will work fine. Tattooing applies to motherboards, not hard drives. It needs to be a 2.5 inch wide and 7 or 9.5 mm thick SATA drive...it can be regular mechanical a hybrid or a solid state drive.
As the best bang for the buck I recommend a 7200 rpm mechanical drive like this:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145587
But if your budget is a bit bigger you can go with a number of options at higher prices.

  • How can I securely erase my Apple TV's Hard Disk?

The 40 GB drive is too small as everyone is experiencing and I need to upgrade my Apple TV’s hard disk to a 250 GB drive that are now available. I thought of doing it myself but it is not quick and I do not have the time people are reporting. Therefore, I decided to send it to a company to do the upgrade. I would like to securely erase the hard disk before I sent it out, because the company told me that they do not return my old hard disk. However, I do not know how to erase my hard disk, especially how to make a secure erase. Will Apple’s Disk Utility see the Apple TV’s hard disk to make a secure erase? I tried but it is not coming up in its pane. I would appreciate your help, please. Thank you, Tumay

There is no way to securely erase the drive without removing it from AppleTV and using a utility.
Best thing you could do would be to do a system restore which should erase the files, and then sync with a load of rubbish a couple of times (make some dummy video/music files) if you want to overwrite stuff on the drive. Seems unlikely that the company in question would be interested enough in your files to use professional data recovery to try and recover what you had on there.
