2500 images flowed into iPhoto that aren't mine! What happened?  Whose are they?! Do I have to go through

When I opened iPhoto about 2500 images imported that are not mine.  What happened?  Whose are they?  How do I get rid of them?

We live in a rural area and have a small business.  No one has access to my computer except me.  My husband doesn't use it -- ever -- so no one else has connected a device unless some mysterious remote visitor obtained access.  The pictures are labeled "Resources" and "theme-files".  They are not of people but a lot of flat squares of color.  They are dated from early 2000's (around 2003) until the present.  When I opened iPhoto, the number of pictures I have went from over 7500 to over 10,000 lickety split.  I clicked "stop import" but nothing doing -- it said I had to wait until the download was complete.  So there they are -- lots and lots of squares of color and shape type imagery.  Is there a way to find a "location" on the map of where they came from?  Also, I quite recently did a cleaning with MacKeeper and it came up with nothing malicious there.

If photos are saved they go to the Camera Roll in the Photos App.

Let Apple know you want this bug fixed:

Workaround: drag the images from the email to the iPhoto icon on the dock.

When using my iPad 2 I am constantly prompted to enter 3 iTunes account passwords for accounts that aren't mine and that I've never used. How can I make that stop?

No I'm the only one who has ever downloaded anything on it. Ive only had it since Christmas. I reset all of the settings today because my apps kept crashing and now it's doing this. :/

This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • My iphone 5 internal storage is full, I have just 1000 picutes of size 2mb each an average that costs only 2gb, what happened to remaining 6 gb space?

my iphone 5 internal storage is full, I have just 1000 picutes of size 2mb each an average that costs only 2gb, what happened to remaining 6 gb space?

The size of the pictures themselves is only part of the story...Photos also prepares indexes of the pictures, thumbnails and further file information that take up, sometimes, as much or more space than the photos.
Other things like email, messages, tunes, cache information, browser history information, and so on take space.

  • I am able to click on a picture in iPhoto to edit it opens automatically in photoshop cs6.  However when i am done editing I can not save that image back into iPhoto.  Can anyone help with a setting I am missing maybe?

I am able to click on a pic in iphoto to edit it and opens automatically in photoshop CS6. However when I am done editing and save I can not save back into Iphoto.  Can any one help wiht this?

Thanks Terence. What a relief. I still don't understand what the book I read was talking about then. Here's a quote from the section I was referring to in "iPhoto 08: The Missing Manual" book, p 91 (ISBN: 0596-516185):
"Note, however, that the instant you edit a TIFF-format photo (Chapter 7), iPhoto converts it into JPEG.
That's fine if you plan to order prints or a photo book (Chapter 11) from iPhoto, since JPEG files are required for those purposes. But if you took that once-in-a-lifetime, priceless shot as a TIFF file, don't do any editing in iPhoto-don't even rotate it- if you hope to maintain its perfect, pristine quality."
After my test results, I thought maybe this was something that had changed from iPhoto 08 to iPhoto 09, so I went to the bookstore yesterday and checked the same book for iPhoto 09, and there it was, the same quote! (on a different page, of course).
Anyway, thanks once again for your confirmation that my test was indeed correct. Linda

  • Importing raw images (.CR2) into iPhoto'08

I am trying to import 17Gb worth of raw (.CR2) images from an external hard drive as JPEGs, but in iPhoto I find I have to import them first before I convert them to JPEGs. Does anyone know how I can import them into iPhoto as JPEGs or tell me of a software that can convert them without importing the photos first? (Keep in mind that this software needs to be *leopard friendly*.)
    Thanks, Supernova329

    Supernova329:
There is a way to batch convert the cr2 raw files to jpgs with the demo version of iView MediaPro. Launch iVMP and import your folder(s) of raw files. Then select a folders worth of file and use the Action->Convert Image files menu option. In the settings select JPG as the format, Size=use image size, Settings=color =best, and Resolution=use image resolution. Then hit the Convert button and pick or create a new folder to put them in.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photos that aren't mine are in my iPhoto app.

Recently I went on a vacation with other iPhone users.  While uploading  my photos from the trip to my mac (via my digital camera) I noticed that I had someone else's albums in my events section of iPhoto.  This person was on the trip with me and said her photos weren't syncing with her iPad.  Why are they on my computer now?  If i delete them, will they delete from her device?  Can she see my photos as well?  I have no clue what I am doing when it comes to this kind of problem.  I also would like to prevent it from happening in the future.

No way to know with details
what version of iphoto? Of the OS? where exactly do you see her photos in iPhoto?
One guess is that you have subscribed to a shared photo stream of hers
Another is that she logged into your iCloud account on her phone and MyPhotoStream is downloading to you Mac
There are other possibliites but unless you provide details no one can tell or explain how to spot it

  • Have just upgraded (?) to Lion in order to save photos on the iCloud but iPhoto cannot find my 25,000  pictures! Are they lost forever?

Have just installed Lion OS in order to save my many thousands of photos on to the icloud BUT they seem to have nearly ALL disappeared!
PLEASE tell me that they're still there somewhere!
iPhoto simply asks for a library and lists none as existing.
Picasa has found a very few pictures when asked to search the entire computer. Seem to be those used in other applications.
    Where are all the others?
    How do I rescue them?

  • In a cloned version of my hard drive, where would I find emails that were stored under "Local folders"? Are they lost now that the original hard drive died?

I have a cloned version of my old hard drive from an old computer, which does not boot properly. I now have a new computer and would like to access the emails that had been stored in "local folder" in Thunderbird. I have searched the clone, but so far haven't come up with anything. Is there a particular file extension I should search for? Or is it possible that the clone doesn't have those files? Both the old and new computers are MacBooks.

    Thank you for the link.
The profile must be really well hidden.
I found the Library folder, and there's a Mozilla folder in there, but there isn't a Thunderbird folder, unless it's within another folder.
Any other hints? I tried searching for any of the keywords and file extensions I could think of (and are mentioned in the link you gave me) including .default, but I don't know what the random 8 digits would be.)

  • How to import image into iPhoto that was modified in Photoshop?

    Hi,
I figured this out once, but I can't remember what I had to do.
I modified an image using Photoshop and saved it as a jpg. Now I can't import it into the iPhoto library. I know there was some options I had to set in Photoshop. Can anyone tell me what they are?
    Thanks a lot,
    Bruce
ps. the original image before editing was in the iPhoto library. All i did was to crop it and save it under a new name.

When you saved your edit under a new name, did you save it into the iPhoto Library folder? If so, this is why you are unable to import it now. You'll need to go into the library from the Finder and drag that photo out to the Desktop. Then you'll be able to import it into your library. Be careful when you are in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder, as any changes you make to the files and folders that are there (correctly placed by the app) will damage your library.
    Regards.

  • Putting images back into iPhoto 4.0.3 - why so many?

    Hi
A while ago made some back-up DVDs of images - 2004, 2005 and so on - using iP to do so. Then we removed all but 2007's pics from iP to make more room, although by your standards we had hardly anything in the library (at the time an iMovie project was seriously hogging all the spare space!)
Couple of problems yesterday while trying to put the "iPhoto Library" disc for 2004 back into iP:
    1. the disc wasn't recognised, kept self-ejecting after 20 secs or so, took several loading attempts for it to show up in Finder and then in iP's list - any ideas why? (talk about heart-stopping!)
    2. I used File, Import command from within iP to see the disc in Finder, and selected the disc to import All.
Was that the wrong thing to do?
It took ages - I guess more than an hour? - and now the library has swollen by 2300 images, instead of just 1200. There was also an alert at the end of the import saying that 999 items could not be imported (sorry, didn't take note of the exact wording).
So - what should I have done? Can I delete the whole import and start again safely? (I'll have to select the images first as it's not a film roll or album all on its own.)
I would like to find a small number of images to email and/or print at home, then I'd like to export the whole year onto a windows-compatible disc (using Finder to burn), as we forgot to do that before removing the images the first time. I had expected the newly loaded collection would be seperate from the rest of the library, so now I will have to re-create a new album first won't I? - what a pain.
Sorry to sound so daft, I did look in iPhoto Help but the only tip I could see there to import "other than from a camera" was to do what I did.
    cheers
    Rebecca

    Thanks Brie Fly
When the DVD was eventually read, it did come up in iPhoto's album list on the side. However, the only option listed in File was to import. Export was grey. I tried to drag the whole collection (after command-A) into the album list but nothing happened. I think it 'bounced back', from memory.
I previously had viewed another iPhoto Library disc (for 2006), and dragged about 3 or 4 images across (individually) to the album list; they were 'imported' and dropped into a new folder that iP created for the first one.
I guess that I could do the same again when I find the ones I need off the 2004 disc. But what should I do to export all the images from this year, as one whole, in order to back-up to another disc? I want to do this so it can be used on windows or by the printing company.
BTW the extra images and film rolls appear to be thumbnails. Each 'original roll' has another roll following titled 'thumbs'.
    Thanks

  • HT2589 I need to review my charges on my apple account.  There are always charging for small amounts that aren't mine.

How do I view the transactions on my apple account.  I continuously get charges on my debit card that I do not make.

You can view the purchase history on your acount via your computer's iTunes : if you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases.
If there are charges on you that don't recognise, and nobody else has access to your account or devices and may have made them, then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
