2600 classic battery live

Hi, I just bought a 2600 classic. The battery live should be max. 560 hours, but after 4 days I have to recharge. What can be the reason? **mail address deleted by moderator - please use PM system only**

When phone manufacturers quote a standby time it's under ideal conditions.
Ideal conditions are when the phone has a very strong constant signal and is not being used or moved at all. All data and connectivity features are disabled. No calls, messages or even having it's keys pressed are allowed under testing.
In the real world you'll never get battery life like that.
4 days is very good for that model. My friend has the same phone and only gets 2 days.

  • 2600 classic not keep settings when turned off and...

I bought my 12 yr old daughter a Nokia 2600 classic as her first phone, and it won't keep her display or theme settings. When she turns phone off and back on the settings are back to originial (default)?
Is this becaiuse we are not unsing it right.
Do I take it back under warranty?

have you tried to create a profile then activate it this was a common fault with the nokia 6500 due to loose back cover and storing items on memo  card but thisphone does not take a memo card
try taking out the battery for 5 mins then a factory reset, the code is 12345 then create and activate a profile.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • I pod classic battery dies (2n ipod classic that i've had to do this) and won't hold a charge. 1 month out of warranty. How do you get a company to make better products or have better warrantys?

Second time this has happened to an ipod classic that i bought (the last one I bought 14 months ago and it is out of apples warranty.) Battery won't hold a charge or even register when pluged into anything (wall charger, USB, mac book, etc.)
Apple is refusing to do anything except charge me $60 for a refurbished battery (let me remind you that I gave them $370 14 months ago for a brand-new (not refurbished) i pod classic.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this battery issue? The obvious answer is for apple to make a better product (2 ipod classics, 2 ipod classic battery die outs. the most recent purchase in a shocking 14months ago.) Better products or more realistic and forgiving warrantly policys.) I am NOT going to pay for the $60 swap out as Apple has taken enough money from this sucker (will never purchase another shoddy apple product again.)
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice? Shame on me for giving my $ to apple. THEY ARE A FAD COMPANY WHOSE PRODUCTS ARE PART OF A CULTURAL FAD---nothing real is in there (well SOMETHING was real and working for 14months.)

I feel your angst, especially, knowing that Apple has become the most profitable company in the world, by selling us products that breaks down when the warranty run out, and crap service staff, who doesn't know anything about the iPod Classic, except offer to sell us refurbished iPod classic.
You can get the Battery replaced at 3rd Party store for less.
BTW, (most contributors might not agree with me) if  you recharged your iPod everyday, it will be dead just 2 months after the warranty expires. My logic, the iPod battery will last for about 400 recharge cycles according to Apple Specs listed below
    Charge Cycles
A properly maintained iPod battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles
So if your lifestyle is plugin in to car Audio dock, while driving, and plug in to home stereo while home, then it is 2-3 charge cycles per day.
But then you cant do anything about it, just switch to another media player.

  • Using a uk tesco sim, with a french 2600 classic? ...

    FROM FRANCE, not UK,
I just tried an old Tesco sim (from an ancient Brit cellphone, both dating around 2003-5)
in my french, new Nokia 2600 Classic. This old sim has lasted vey well - and still has £2 + credit to use.
It seems to work - more or less (I have to put a country code on ALL numbers - for France too)
It picks up BT -  and then - Bouygues fr.
Id like to top it up and carry on with it - in the new phone - but I do not know if there are likely to be probs with it.
Does anyone have any thoughts on that?
    Thanks for reading my Q;!!:womanvery-happy:

  • Nokia 2600 Classic calendar synchronising with Nov...

I have been successfully using the sync capability  for a year or so on the version of pc suite prior to Ovi, for managing my calendar appointments (using Novell Groupwise) on my pc then uploading to my phone Nokia 2600 Classic.
Now that I have downloaded the Ovi suite to my phone, the synchronising no longer works, although all other elements of the software works ok.
    Can anybody offer any advice?

    Hi all,
just to follow up on this issue, I thought some might like to know I've been in touch with the novamedia.de support team. They sent a new version of the plugin, and now I have calendar syncing via bluetooth working (like a charm). However the contacts syncing is still one-way only, from the phone to the computer. Will post here when (if?) this is sorted out

    HI guys,
I STRONGLY SUGGEST NOT TO BUY THIS MODEL!!!
I hv bought this set and am struggling too! I hv bought this set only because, this supports data sync with PC. I hv given it back at the service center but they r clue less. U cannot write anything from PC to Mobile via bluetooth. More over, data cable is not supported by this model, which is agreed by the service center people.
I am gonna ask for compensation for this if they r not able to resolve this problem.
They can't take the consumers for ride like this.
I hv provided them with good support, in the nokia PC suit, the handset shows a lock symbol after pairing. It means there is some software lock which prevents us from writing to mobile from PC.
    Any opinions or solutions solicited.

  • Silent startup for 2600 Classic

Is there any way to prevent my Nokia 2600 Classic from playing an infurating tune every time I turn it on? I've managed to find set-up functions to eliminate other annoying noises, such as the bip every time I press a key, but failed to find a way to turn off the start-up tune.
I really don't understand why modern gadgets feel the necessity to make noises every time they do something. I would like to be able to turn my phone on, for example to check messages, in quiet places without disturbing the peace. My old phone did at least confine itself to a relatively innocuous bip, but this new one seems determined to break into song every time. It's driving me up the wall.
    Keith (Grumpy Old Man).

I've still not got to the bottom of this. The only time I managed to get my phone to come on without making a noise is when I selected the "Silent" profile. Unfortunately it didn't ring for incoming calls either. I therefore edited the Silent profile, changing "Incom. call alert:" from "Off" to "Ringing". That made it ring for incoming calls but also caused the silly tune to come back when I turn the phone on.  Grrrr!
Within each profile, if I choose to edit the profile I get the following options which I can change (my current selection for "General" profile is in brackets):
    Incom. call alert: (Ringing)
    Ringing tone: (Nostalgia.mp3)
Ringing volume: (Two bricks coloured in)
    Vibrating alert: (Off)
    Msg. alert tone: (Beep once)
    Mail alert tone: (Off)
    IM alert tone: (Off)
Keypad tones: (No bricks coloured in)
    End of list tone: (Off)
    Alert for: (All calls)
    Other tones: (Off)
    App tones: (Off)
Nothing in there about start-up tones. What is "IM alert"?
I still cannot find a way to set it up so there is no sound (or minimal sound - a short beep would be acceptable) at switch-on but it still rings when someone phones me.
    Any suggestions?
    Keith

  • 2600 classic newbie

I have just bought a 2600 classic, and am in the middle of entering all of my contact numbers. I would like to put them into seperate groups, so I don't have to scroll through all the numbers.
When I add a number to a group, it remains in the main list, which defeats the purpose (for me at least) of putting them in the groups.
Is there a way to do this? Its probably easy, but I can't see how.
Thanks in advance (and don't laugh too hard at me

the numbers will remain on list, when you look at groups they will appear as you have selected for each group

  • 2600 Classic, connecting to PC

hi, I have a 2600 Classic, is there a data cable available to be able to connect it to a PC?
otherwise how do you get images you have taken on the phone onto the PC?
i have read somewhere data transfer isn't possible... in which case, what is the port on the side of the phone for, between the headphone socket and charging socket?
    thank you!

WIDCOMM and Microsoft Bluetooth are listed. The WIDCOMM one is checked as this was installed with my Sitecom bluetooth dongle. The MS one is unchecked.
I've tried unchecking both and checking on again but to no avail.
When I go through the "get connected" wizard, PC Suite finds my N95 etc but at the end of the wizard "no phone connected" remains displayed and the red cross in the PC Suite system icon remains. I can, however, send/receive things by bluetooth but as PC Suite isn't recognising it being connected, I can't sync stuff which is the only thing I desperately need to do!

  • 2600 Classic, pre-installed games

My 2600 Classic (on AT&T Wireless) came with 3 pre-installed game demos, one of which was Tetris.  Following the links in the phone, I purchased the registered version of Tetris.  I was charged $6.99 USD, the game downloaded, and a screen came up that said the application was now unlocked.  When I tried to start the game there was an error that said that my license was unable to be validated.  After fighting with it for a while and checking all of my network settings, I called AT&T Tech Support.  Get this one...  They said that Tetris is not compatible with the Nokia 2600 Classic model phone.  What a load of **bleep**, Nokia pre-installed the game to begin with.  Nokia has been the only mobile phone brand that I have ever purchased.  In about 15 years, I am on my 6th Nokia phone.  It is really dissapointing to see just how poor their selection of bar phones has become.  This model doesn't even have a calculator any more.

    Hi,
Ive looked on a few download sites for the tetris game and it does not seem to be compatable with the Nokia 2600 like you say.
Maybe you could contact Nokia or at&t  and plead your case for a refund on the download fee. Its down to who put the game software on ! Obviously not java supported.
Silly to impose a demo game on a fone and then does not allow an upgrade.

  • Nokia 2600 Classic Latest Software Version

    Hi,
I have Nokia 2600 Classic. It is RM-340 and the version is 6.82.
I have heard that there is a latest version, i.e, 7.60.
    So, what's new in 7.60?
And, the current version that i have (v6.82) doesn't show time in main screen with keypad locked (with security key) and is in silent with a new message (Having a bigger display than Nokia 6030 or Nokia 2626, Nokia 2600 classic can display the other icons in the next line). And, the calender tone is default set to ascending. Are these any bugs?
And, i want all the Indian Languages to be retained in the new version (v7.60).
    Waiting for reply.
    Bye,
    PRAVARDHAN

I notice they fix the screensaver bug. Now when you choose "always" option, the screensaver realy stays always!

  • 80G Classic Battery Problem

Has no-one but me had a problem with the 80g Classic battery running down at helter-skelter speed even when not in use and turned off?
One day everything as normal, next day battery will hold power equivalent to the time to recharge it (kind of 1:1 ratio in and out).
Problem is I don't know if it's a simple battery change solution or if something else has happened. Everything has been turned off, no extras, covers, etc and I've reset it about 20 times. Can a battery go from good to bad so suddenly? The thing is maybe 3 years old and it's had its fair share of use. Hooked up it runs as it always has, but as it stands its now basically non-portable. Don't really want to do a restore as many, many folders have been personalized and I can't see how this would work anyway.......
Please advise if you can. If not cheers anyway and hope no-one gets the same problem.
    Dave

One option is something like Griffin Technologies "Tune Juice" ...
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/tunejuice2
which takes 4xAAA batteries and is $30. You could then use rechargeable AAA batteries in it. Too bad it doesn't take AA batteries since rechargeable AA batteries tend to be easier to find I think. But there are other products out there like this one that will use standard batteries (9-volt, AA, & AAA usually) to hook up to and extend the battery life of an iPod. The advantage of these products is that in a pinch you can grab alkaline batteries at the airport gift shop or a local convenience store.
Just make sure any you look at EXPLICITLY states it will work with the Classic line as the newer iPods tend to be fussy about older chargers and power sources since they make use of the data pins now as well to initiate power and charging vs. the older iPods that only needed to see the two power pins.
    Cheers,
    Patrick
